Classic battery is non-user replaceable

The classic manual says, "iPod classic has an internal, non-user-replaceable battery."
Does this mean that it can't be replaced, period, i.e. that it will have to be thrown away when the battery has exhausted its limited number of charges?

No, this means the exact same thing all previous iPod models have said - the iPod must be sent in to Apple or someone who is skilled in replacing the battery.
Non user serviceable usually means that there is no battery slot that is purposely made accessible to the user for gaining access. Of course, there are several kits available to help you replace the battery and they are widely available. However, by doing this you are opening and replacing your battery at YOUR OWN RISK. Some people are comfortable performing this task others are not.
As soon as you open your iPod on your own you have basically voided any Warranty you have left. Original or extended. If something breaks, you'll have to pay to get it fixed at this point.
So, yes, the battery can be replaced when it goes bad. It just needs to be replaced by someone who knows what they're doing.

  • No user replaceable battery?

I just can't believe how greedy Apple can be. This is a $600.00 cell phone, and after about a year I have to pack it up, and send it to Apple so they can charge me another $86.00 to replace my battery. I wouldn't mind to much if I could just drop it off at an Apple store, but I really hate having to pack it up wait in line at UPS, then weight days to get it back. Terribly inconvenient for a cell phone. Why not just bite the bullet, and make it user replaceable? to me this is pure corporate GREED!

as long as they use their "corporate greed" to produce more great products like the iPhone, I'm okay with that.
in all seriousness, i'd bet that the process to update the batteries will become easier with time. we demand to know a process now. of course, the only one that apple is ready for is a shipment back to apple. in about 6 months, i bet apple stores will be able to take care of this. apple already knows that people can't live without a phone for a day.

  • 80G Classic Battery Problem

Has no-one but me had a problem with the 80g Classic battery running down at helter-skelter speed even when not in use and turned off?
One day everything as normal, next day battery will hold power equivalent to the time to recharge it (kind of 1:1 ratio in and out).
Problem is I don't know if it's a simple battery change solution or if something else has happened. Everything has been turned off, no extras, covers, etc and I've reset it about 20 times. Can a battery go from good to bad so suddenly? The thing is maybe 3 years old and it's had its fair share of use. Hooked up it runs as it always has, but as it stands its now basically non-portable. Don't really want to do a restore as many, many folders have been personalized and I can't see how this would work anyway.......
Please advise if you can. If not cheers anyway and hope no-one gets the same problem.
    Dave

One option is something like Griffin Technologies "Tune Juice" ...
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tunejuice2
which takes 4xAAA batteries and is $30. You could then use rechargeable AAA batteries in it. Too bad it doesn't take AA batteries since rechargeable AA batteries tend to be easier to find I think. But there are other products out there like this one that will use standard batteries (9-volt, AA, & AAA usually) to hook up to and extend the battery life of an iPod. The advantage of these products is that in a pinch you can grab alkaline batteries at the airport gift shop or a local convenience store.
Just make sure any you look at EXPLICITLY states it will work with the Classic line as the newer iPods tend to be fussy about older chargers and power sources since they make use of the data pins now as well to initiate power and charging vs. the older iPods that only needed to see the two power pins.

  • Macbook pro 15 inch non user upgradeable now

Why did apple stop selling 15 inch Macbook Pro that is non user upgradeable concerning memory and hard drive size ?

Because they did. They want everyone to use a large phone/pad with attached keyboard and separate screen.

I have a 60G classic with a non-functioning center select button. Can I set a specific playlist and change settings by hooking up to my PC and then maintain those settings and that playlist once I go remote?

I'm having a little trouble understanding the part about your password having to be reset. Why is that happening??
    Let's start with Firefox's settings:
    (1) You can configure the password manager feature on this tab:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Security
There is a checkbox to enable/disable the feature.
There also is a "Saved Passwords" button to review and remove any passwords you do not want Firefox to keep.
That tab also has a feature to set a Master Password so that no one can use your saved passwords without knowing the Master Password. You may need to exit Firefox in order for Firefox to ask for that again.
    Related articles:
    * [[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]
    * [[Use a Master Password to protect stored logins and passwords]]
    (2) Site-specific permissions
If you want to use the password manager for other sites but NOT a particular site, you can configure that in the Permissions Manager.
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' in the address bar and press Enter.
After the page loads, use the search box in the upper left corner to narrow down the list to the site you want to configure. Highlight the site on the left side, and on the right side, choose Block under Store Passwords.
    (3) Form autocomplete suggestions
Separate from passwords, Firefox remembers entries you've made into forms (in most cases) and lists the matching ones below the form field in a drop-down.
To clear a suggestion, press the down arrow key to highlight it and press the Delete key.
To turn off this feature, see this article: [[Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms with your information]].
To review and selectively edit or delete form history entries, you need an add-on. For example, you could try this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/form-history-control/

  • I pod classic battery dies (2n ipod classic that i've had to do this) and won't hold a charge. 1 month out of warranty. How do you get a company to make better products or have better warrantys?

Second time this has happened to an ipod classic that i bought (the last one I bought 14 months ago and it is out of apples warranty.) Battery won't hold a charge or even register when pluged into anything (wall charger, USB, mac book, etc.)
Apple is refusing to do anything except charge me $60 for a refurbished battery (let me remind you that I gave them $370 14 months ago for a brand-new (not refurbished) i pod classic.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this battery issue? The obvious answer is for apple to make a better product (2 ipod classics, 2 ipod classic battery die outs. the most recent purchase in a shocking 14months ago.) Better products or more realistic and forgiving warrantly policys.) I am NOT going to pay for the $60 swap out as Apple has taken enough money from this sucker (will never purchase another shoddy apple product again.)
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice? Shame on me for giving my $ to apple. THEY ARE A FAD COMPANY WHOSE PRODUCTS ARE PART OF A CULTURAL FAD---nothing real is in there (well SOMETHING was real and working for 14months.)

I feel your angst, especially, knowing that Apple has become the most profitable company in the world, by selling us products that breaks down when the warranty run out, and crap service staff, who doesn't know anything about the iPod Classic, except offer to sell us refurbished iPod classic.
You can get the Battery replaced at 3rd Party store for less.
BTW, (most contributors might not agree with me) if  you recharged your iPod everyday, it will be dead just 2 months after the warranty expires. My logic, the iPod battery will last for about 400 recharge cycles according to Apple Specs listed below
    Charge Cycles
A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles
So if your lifestyle is plugin in to car Audio dock, while driving, and plug in to home stereo while home, then it is 2-3 charge cycles per day.
But then you cant do anything about it, just switch to another media player.

  • Non user-specific layout in Tx KOC4

    Hi all.
We´re trying to create a not user specific layout on tx KOC4, but the option "user-specific" is check and grayed out and can't modify it.
We´re using the standard report.... I search on the forum and on sap notes for a solution, but I can´t find it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you want to be able to create non-user-specific layout from the actual/planned cost report in  you have to flag the field "layout visibility - shared" in transaction OKN0. Then you will see that the user-specific field is no longer greyed out anymore.
I leave the solution, if anyone needs the help sometime
    Thanks any way!

  • Show / Hide DOWMLOAD link in classical report based on user rights

    Hi,
    using apex 4.1.
How i can display or hide download link in classical report based on user rights .
The User who has download rights ,can download the data from classical report Otherwise it should hide.
I have passed the code in authorization scheme in shared component as named "VIEW"
    DECLARE
    VNAME VARCHAR2(1000);
    BEGIN
    SELECT PAGE_NAME INTO VNAME FROM APEX_APPLICATION_PAGES WHERE PAGE_ID = :APP_PAGE_ID AND APPLICATION_ID = :APP_ID;
    return GET_ADMIN_STATUS_VIEW_NEW(:APP_USER,VNAME);
END;How i can call "VIEW'' name in download link.

Right click on the export link, select copy url. Create a button with redirect to URL. Use that URL (or at least everything with and after f?p). Bind rights to the button.
Or create a second identical report with different rights, give one export enabled and one disabled. The first is better, the second is easier :)

  • Intel iMac - which items are user replaceable?

I'm a hand's on type of guy and should anything go awry or wear out on my Intel iMac I'd like to replace it myself, if possible. Packing it up and shipping it off with all my personal data still on that hard disk is a very difficult decision to make.
What hardware items on the Intel iMac are user replaceable? If my SuperDrive goes out can I replace it? How about my hard drive?
    Thanks,
    Hudson
20" Intel iMac fully loaded (2Gig Ram, 500Gig Hard drive, 256Mg video)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

True, but if a hard drive goes, I don't see why it would be any MORE hard to crack open the case on an Intel iMac versus an iMac G5 and replace it - according to Apple, they have the same exteriors. That's what it really comes down to: Opening the case, removing the damaged part and replacing it with a new one. I don't see how it would be beneficial to make the user carry the computer to an Apple Retail Store, wait in line, and wait to get it replaced by a Genius when only one model ago, a model that Apple claims is externally the same, the user can do this themselves.

  • Refill non-user matrix

    Hello,
i have to add a column to a non-user matrix in sbo 2005. To achieve this i have to clear the matrix first. After this it is possible to add the column. Now i want to refill the matrix with the old values. Is there any possibility to do this?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
The only way is to call AddRows again (or e.g. in A/R or A/P programmatically launch the item select dialog etc. etc.) and to fill in the data via the particular Specifics of the cells - as necessary; please note that when you enter e.g. the item code other columns will be filled automatically...:
You will need to figure out exactly which cells you need to change + you will need to handle issues like the case that the user has chosen to hide some cell that would need to be filled (or has set it to read-only...)
I.e. you must be extremely careful when using this trick - and I would really try to avoid using it!

  • Sending notification from workflow to non users

I have a workflow requirement where I would like to send notification to Email
IDs of People who are not defined anywhere in the Content Management System.
Basically the workflow is to review Documents for various Projects being
carried out for our Customers. At the end of the workflow we would want to
just notify the Customer that the document has been reviewed and approved
and that they could collect them from our office. The email ID of the
Customer is being stored as a metadata field and the purpose is to send a
notification to this Email ID for the respective content.

    Hey There,
This is a great question and a common request.
Here at Fishbowl, we have an add-on component called Subscription Notifier that will do exactly what you are asking. It gives you the ability to define your own email templates so you can easily tailor the look and feel of the emails, it will email users and non users alike on a triggered and/or scheduled and/or event basis which gives you maximum flexibility. Furthermore as long as there is a look-up vector then email addresses can be pulled from anywhere they're stored (e.g. metadata as you currently have it, a data provider, database table join, IDM system etc.). Subscription Notifier also has built-in hooks to handle callbacks so that after a notification is sent out additional business process steps can be automated.
Please take a look at the specs here: http://bit.ly/ENRwq

  • Fire non-user defined event inside another event

I want to call a normal/non-user defined event after an operation has occured inside a different normal/non-user definded event. Is this possible?
The reason I don't want to use a user defined event is that if this can be done this way it would be much cleaner implemenation. Also, cleaner than using a sub-vi which would require a lot of wiring.

From my experimentation with this, it appears that the fired event
will not actually execute until the event currently being executed
(the one that fires the other event) is completely finished. The
"time" terminal of the second event idicates the time when it was told
to fire, but it does not actually execute then. You cannot say do
steps 1,2,3 in an event, temporarily leave that event to do code in
another event, then come back to the first event and complete steps
4,5. If the second event is fired after step #3, then steps 4 and 5
will finish first before the second event executes. This contrasts
with other languages such as Delphi were you can leave one event
    temporarily.

  • IPOD CLASSIC BATTERY REPLACEMENT?

Suggestions for a brand & kit (et. al.) for replacing the battery in my iPod classic?

    Jerry Kaiser,
There are no user servicable part on any iPod.  You will either have to contact AppleCare Technical support or if you have an Apple Retail Store in your area make a Genius Bar appointment and they can handle it in store.
    Hope this helps.

  • Blackberry classic battery is disappointing

i just got in my blackberry classic on the 3rd of march and sold my q10 as soon as i received the classic, i loved the way it felt and looked but the battery does not last at all barley a day is it something im doing because i barly use it drains as bad as a iphone, my q10 would last about 2 days but this think can barley make it throw a day pleaseeeeeeeeeee help blackberry

    Hi gababu,
The battery on the Classic is a definite improvement, I'm getting two full days whereas before I would get a day at best on my Z10 and my wife also only a day on her Q10.
The Classic has a 2515 mAh battery compared to the Q10's 2100mAH battery, so the Classic should perform better.
But it does take a few days to 'settle down'.  Give it a week or so and see if it improves.
Good battery management also helps.  Have a look at this BlackBerry Battery Management Demo:
    http://demos.blackberry.com/blackberry-classic/na/ca/gen/how-to/blackberry-classic/blackberry-classi...
Specifically, make sure that you do not have an app running in the background that eats away at your battery power.
The Classic is a beauty, I’m loving it more and more every day as I go learning more about it.  I’m sure you will too once your battery settles down and starts behaving better.  Good luck!
