Clearing of foreign currency documents in different posting date

Hi guys:
I have encountered an issue on the foreign exchange clearing.
Example given as below Accruals was made on 31 Aug 2008 (Cr Balance), when the invoice is received on 25 Sept 2008, this transaction will be reversed (Dr Balance). And we need to trigger the clearing/matching process. The document currency of the accruals was SGD, but the invoice comes in GBP. Hence, by right, when the invoice is received on 25 Sept 2008, the system should pick the foreign currency rate on this date - WHICH IS 25 Sept 2008.However, the current practice is it depends on which date we do the matching/clearing. Say, if we clear on 20 Sept 2008, the system will pick the 20 Sept 2008 date currency rate, which gives a realised gain/loss (SGD: 716.80 or USD 500.28).
How to pick up the right currency rate we needed?
Forrest

Any idea on this, i can posting and clearing in t-code F-04, so i can change transaction date related to foreign currency exchange rate, but user insist on using F-03, which i can not find transaction date.
Any useful suggestions, points will be awarded
Forrest

  • Posting foreign currency document in fb01

HI i want to post foreign currency document in Fb01. i am facing following error as shown in screen shot
I have maintained exchange rate type M in OBA1 and even then its prompting for EURX .
    Regards
    kaushal ghedia

    Hi Kaushal,
Are you posting in Local i.e Co Cd currency or foreign currency.
When ever we make posting in foreign currency, system automatically convert it into local currency because of this system is asking for exchange rate for this.
So please check below settings .
Go to transaction OBBS and check the ratio between the USD and EUR, than
Go to Transaction code OB08 and maintain the exchange rate for Type M, between USD and EUR.
Check the Controlling area currency too in OKEQ.
    Check client currency in SCC4.
If above setting is fine then you need to take help of ABAPr to debug.

  • Invoice in local currency Clearing in Foreign currency

    Hi,
Is it possible to clear the invoice in foreign currency which is originally posted in Local currency.
    regards
    Stefen

Yes, but if the Local currency amounts do not match, then you will have to either:-
         a) Write off the differance as a "Discount"
         b) Manually add another posting line, to post the difference to the Exchange difference accounts.
    a) is easier, but b) is correct from an accounting view.

  • Cannot reverse document with future posting date

    Hi,
When I tried to reverse a document with future posting date, system gives error F5362 Posting date must not be smaller than XX.XX.XXXX (x = future posting date).
Is it possible to do this in SAP?

    Hello,
You need to use reversal reason configured accordingly.
Configure the reversal reason for your purpose:
IMG => Financial Accounting => Business Transactions => Adjustment Posting / Reversal / Define Reasons for Reversal
Make SURE that you have ticked Alt.Pos.dt (Alternative Posting Date) check box.
    Save it.
Now use this reversal reason for your posting and give a fugure date.
Make sure that the future posting period is opened but NOT closed.
Please also read F1 on alternative posting date check box:
    Indicator: Alternative posting date allowed
Indicator as to whether you are allowed to specify an alternative posting date for the relevant reversal reason.
    Use
When you use the reversal reason, the system checks that reversal is not carried out using an alternative posting date and therefore possibly in a later posting period or in a later fiscal year.
    Examples
If you want to use negative postings during reversal but only if the reversal is posted in the same period, you can define two reversal reasons:
1st reason: No alternative date allowed, generate negative posting
2nd reason: Alternative date allowed, do not generate negative posting

  • Forcing Local Currency amounts when posting Foreign Currency documents

When posting entries in a foreign currency (FC), it is possible and often used to force through a local currency (LC) amount that differs from what SAP would have posted using the current For Ex rate.  This is used in cases where a payment is made in FC a couple months later and someone would like to see the LC of the originally posted invoice match the LC of the payment.  Although SAP allows you to override the For Ex rate in such a manner, what are the effects of these types of postings?  Does the difference ever get recognized, and, if so, where?
Thanks in advance for any explanations.

    Hi,
Suppose at the time of invoice the exchange rate was 40 and the amount shoule be as below:-
    Document currency = 100
    Local Currency = 4000
But you have entered the invoice at exchange rate of 45 which was applicable at the payment date
    Document currency = 100
    Local Currency = 4500
And the payment document line item is posted with the
    Document currency = 100
    Local Currency = 4500
In this case, system will not do any foreign exchange rate difference provided there is no month end revaluation happening between the invoice posting date and paymentt posting date.

  • Clearing of foreign currency invoice

I have noted a particular problem.
An invoice was posted in a foreign currency and was cleared in the same currency.  But while clearing the invoice, the exchange rate difference line item generated shows a big amount than the actual rate difference.  In addition, additional line items are shown for revaluation with very very huge amount. How this is happening ?

  • Currency translation - based on posting date

    Hi everyone..
im again posting this topic bcos im in need of a solution for my problem as early as possible.please excuse me.
    Problem related to currency conversion:
Im taking a report from sales order and billing cube, and the report is coming fine, but when i apply the currency conversion type,it is not giving the correct conversion.
In report,im using exchange rate on document posting date.
So if i compare the value in R/3 with the reporting value, the difference comes.
For the currency conversion type i used, i checked in rrc2,it is like this.
Exch rate type:M-standard translation at avg rate
    Source curr:from data record
    Tgr curr:selection with translation
Time ref:Varoiable time reference:A-To the exact day
    Special Infoobj:Posting date object
So what could be the problem for the wrong translation.the difference is about 1.2 rs per dollar.
i will be verymuch thankful to u,if u could give some solution for this problem...
    thansk & regards

    Hi
Please check if you are transferring exchange rates maintained in R/3 to BW on daily basis or as & when change happens on R/3 side.
If not then you can do that in RSA1->source systems-> here select your R/3 system ->right mouse click-> Transfer global settings-> in next screen put check box ON for currencies and then using update tables option button. For daily scheduling, go to top menu ->Program-> Excute in background-> here you can schedule this as daily job.
    Hope this helps

  • Document printing ignoring posting date range

I am in Banking/Document Printing and selected my bank account,
doc type = checks for payment,
print checks = to be printed.
    Posting date from/to fields = 2/1/09 - 2/28/09.
I click the OK button and the results show me 2 checks with 3/13/09 posting dates.  I only have these 2 checks iin my test db, but I was testing the february date range to verify it would exclude them from the results as it should.
Why are my 2 march checks showing in the results when my posting dates are only for February?

This date has not relation to your posting date.
The 03/13 is the check date.  Your transactions are still from your February date range.
You created the checks today and a check needs to have a date on it and this 03/13 is the date that will be printed on the check
By default the date you process the checks will be the date check date.
Posting Date is nothing but the date the transaction / JE is posted on.

  • Change posted reversed FI document (G/L) posting date

Hi All, my finance staff wrongly enter the posting date when she reverse a FI document. She wanted to know the way to change the poster reversed FI document, if possible.
    Or
can she undo the reverse process back to before reverse so that she can redo...
    thanks. Looi

    Hi,
    Reversal document can'be reversed again.
You have to post a manual entry for this using F-02.
Also you can use FBR2(Select Generate reverse posting)

  • F-44 clearing in foreign currency

    Hi All,
While clearing vendor open items through F-44 system generates error " Ex.rate diff.accts are incomplete for account 164000 currency USD".
In OBA1 for KDF and KDB respective currency wise and empty currency wise exchange rate gain and loss gl accounts maintained.
When i am testing in development document get posted but the same is not happen in production. I check gl master records. gl master records are same in development and production. And the changes made in development for OBA1 are successfully transported to production.
We are working on 4.7. Is there any other configuration to be done or to check.
      Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sankar

    Hi Durgasankar,
Goto TCode OBA1 and double click KDF.  Give your chart of accounts.  Press Position button and give the GL Account as 164000 and currency USD.  Double click the entry for details and Check this first in your development client and see whether the same config exists in production also.
    Hope this helps....

  • Clearing foreign currency payments against local currency bank account

    Hi all
We have foreign currency invoices (eg in USD, EUR) and would like to pay these from a AUD domestic bank account. Is this common practice or does the client need to enter such invoices in their external bank specific terminal to process such payments if they have a domestic currency bank account.
How does the Electronic bank Statement (which is in AUD) clear these foreign currency invoices (EFT clearing account or suspense account). I presume we would have to post to a suspense account clearing and then do a manual post with clearing after loading the bank statement.  However, the amounts do not balance to zero as i cannot clear items off as they are in different document currencies as noted below.
    INVOICE
cr vendor  100USD   200AUD - cleared by payment program
    dr expense 100USD   200AUD
    PAYMENT PROGRAM
    cr Sus clg 100USD   210AUD
dr vendor  100USD   200AUD - Cleared by payment program
    dr FX g/l    0USD    10AUD
    ELECT. BANK STATEMENT
    dr Sus clg 205AUD
    cr Cash    205AUD
What would be the standard approach for such postings from an SAP bank accounting functionality point of view.
Is there a better way of design the above payment process.

    Hi,
    this is a hard task.
You have to play with the GL account master data. See documentation for field "Only balances in local crcy". It is quite good described for the clearing in foreign currencies.
Also I have some doubts that there were settings in FI for foreign currencies clearing, but I have never customize it.
Hope I helped you (if so... points reward would be highly appreciated )

    Alex

  • Error when using automatic clearing (F.13)with foreign currency valuation.

    Hello all
below is our problem, please suggest us a solution
We are experiencing a problem when running the automatic clearing in SAP. Somehow, the system seems to clear (with no reason) open items created with the revaluation of foreign currency.
Let's say that we run the valuation of open items in foreign currency for December 31, and we run the program to post the reverse entry as of  January 1 of the next year. As a result of this valuation, the system calculates a loss of 10 euros. Therefore, it posts a document with a debit entry of 10 into the Loss account, and a credit of 10 in to account where the valuation was carried out. This document has a posting date of December 31. The batch program also creates the reversing entry, this time a credit entry into the Loss account, and a debit into the original account.
If now, we try to run the automatic clearing (F,13) on December 31 for those accounts, the system will create (automatically) a document on December 31, similar to the reversing entry that the valuation created, clearing at the same time, the first document that the valuation originally created.
The final result then is that the valuation makes a posting, and we end up having two reversing entries. Does it make sense?
In our scenario in the system P70, for MX10, we have a foreign currency valuation run on December 31st, which posted the document numbers:
    1)  5100004579/2008, for a total of  0 euros, and 240,483.17 MXN. Credit to account 11081108 Finavigate cash receipt bank collect.CMG MXN.Debit to account 18601000 Losses f.foreign curr.valuation on financial trans
    2) In the same batch, the system also books a reversing entry (doc 5100000042/2009) with posting date 01.01.2009 with exactly the same opposite entries as in the previous document.
    3) After this, we run the automatic clearing with posting date 31.12.2008, and now, the system creates automatically the document 5000003236/2008, which clear the original document, 5100004579.
The final result, as you can see, it's out of balance, there is an additional document that we need to reverse.
    Thanks in advance
    sujatha

To my knowledge you get do two things:
    1. In F.13 transaction don't include both the GL accounts where the Dr. and Cr. posting from the valuation run have taken place. With this the system won't find the matching entry.
    2. If you want to use all the GL accounts in F.13, then check the clearing procedure configuration and make suitable changes.
With the info provided, this is the only thing I can suggest.
    Regards,
    ~Vishal.

  • Original document for foreign currency valuation.

    Hello All,
I have executed the foreign currency valuation run and posted the documents through batch job. System has successfully created and posted foreign currency document.
When I am checking the posted document I found there is some wrong posting has been happen for which system has posted a huge exchange rate difference amount.
when I tried to check the original posting related to this posting through Environment -> Document environment -> original document, system is not navigating me to the original document instead it is showing same posted document.
Can you please let me know how to check the original document related to the document posted through batch job of foreign currency valuation.
    Regards
    RS

    Hi,
In that screen itself, select the Document---->other Document. In that give the Orginal Document Number, then it will display the orginial document with foregin currency and local currency.

  • SAP t-code F-05 to post Foreign currency valuation

I have used SAP t-code F-05 to post Foreign currency valuation. After posting the entry H have reversed document in FB08 because of error. Unfortunately I want it to bring back to the original posting. I had reversed the reversal document in FB08. It got reversed and it came back to original position. I hered that in SAP FI it is not possible to reverse the reversal document. How it is possible me to do the reverse the reversal document

I guess the only way is to reset the valuation (without 'create postings' tick) and then rerun valuation with 'create postings' tick.

  • F-32 - clearing customer items in foreign currency

    Hello gurus,
please, where in SPRO can I set the possibity of clearing customer items in foreign currency in F-32 ?
Presently all items are converted to local currency and it's not possible to switch into foreign currency.
Vendor open items we can clear in foreign currency in F-44, but customer open items not.
    Thank you,
    Ondrej

What error you are getting in F-32 while clearing the customer in foreign currency?
Please check whether in FS00 for that customer reconciliation account, you have selected the check box "Balance in local currency". If yes, then that will not allow you to clear in foreign currency.

    SDNer
