Client wants to manage site after I create it, maybe not using DW

I have a client with a limited budget (they're a small non-profit). They hired me to create a website for them, which I will start on some time early next year. After I have created and launched the site they want to be able to manage and update it from there. Will they need Dreamweaver for this? They may be willing to purchase it but if not, can they manage the site with other software?

Building a dynamic site on a CMS backbone in the first place is much easier than trying to reverse engineer a static site to work with a CMS afterwards.

you have a 13-inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. It’s modern enough that it supports booting into Recovery mode. To do so, hold down a Command key and the R key as you start up. It should eventually show a Mac OS X Utilities menu. Select Disk Utility from that menu; when the Disk Utility window appears, select the bootable volume from the left-hand side of the window. (It’s typically called “Macintosh HD”.) When the volume is selected, some buttons will appear on the right-hand side. If it’s not greyed out, press the Verify Disk button; if it is greyed out, or if it reports on errors that it found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu; that will restart your MacBook Pro in its normal mode. With luck, that will be enough to get you to your normal login screen, rather than the white screen.

Mac Pro 1.1 Asks if I want to shut down after an hour or so of use.

My Mac Pro will bring up the shut down dialogue after an hour or so of use. The window won't cancel just reappears.
Previously it was going to sleep until I unchecked 'Allow power button to put Mac to sleep' in preferences. Power button fault?
I've re-set my PRAM and SMC. Changed the battery on the PCB too.
I've tried running a hardware test however I'm using a reasonable but old CRT display and the dialogue box doesnt display correctly, looks brown/orange and illegible. I'm running Lion.
Any thoughts? Power button easy to replace? Can't find much info on doing this.
I wonder if the temperature of the mac is what triggers the fault.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you create a form not using a php script?

I need to create a contact us form on my website using DW and have researched how and understand the easiest way is using a php script. Unfortuntately, my webhost server does not support this and will charge me an arm and a leg in order to to do it. Is there another way to have a functioning contact form not using a php script?

Yes and no.
You could use a mailto link for your form action instead of a PHP script.
There are several problems with this method though. First, when you do that, you are at the mercy of the viewer's computer set-up. Mailto links use whatever email client is installed on the machine in order to send the message. Public computers (libraries, colleges, etc) almost never have an email client installed, so when a viewer on one of those machines clicks the link, nothing happens. Secondly, your email address is open for spam harvesters, so you may end up with enlargement and nigerian scam emails flooding your inbox.
Since your provider doesn't give you a way to do it the right way on your server, you may want to look into email form services online and see if they are less expensive than your current alternative.

What's a good method to create a primarykey ( not using autoincrement )

I don't want to use the autoincrement feature of DBMS and avoid using GUID ( it's a too long value).
Any suggestion ?

I am curious about this GUID thing your all talking about. It's simply a unique identifier. It's guaranteed that every GUID generated will be unique.
I did a google search on this and am faced with a wall of results that have little to do with what I imagine this is. Is GUID some sort of auto generated (app side) number that can be inserted into the database that is unique? Okay, and thanks for re-posting your photos. I have to agree that it definitely does look like crimping and would expect any continuity checks run on it to show an open or two. That would certainly explain your symptoms, but it's not the answer for all such cases, i.e., BLD, being reported here.
I've now purchased two 'broken' Shuffle's on eBay, both coming off of M$ systems and reporting the blinkies. The first was Alive on Arrival and is still living happily on a daughter's eMac. The second was totally dead, with no reaction at all to anything I did; it's now disassembled, with no evidence of your crimping on the ribbon cable, while I mull over buying an LI battery and getting someone to solder it in for me.
In your place I'd certainly be taking my evidence to Apple and pointing out that, at the end of the day, it was just a matter of pure luck that it managed to last as long with this defect as it did. I think you should be able to convince them to give you some sort of satisfaction on this, but appreciate your desire not to go through the bother of it.

I want to keep a Pop Up Menu blank when not used?

I've got a spread sheet that in several cells that I have a Pop Up Menu assigned and the first menu shows up in the cell in all of the cells for the Pop Up Menu. What I'd like to have is to keep those cells blank with no text or anything unless I click on the cell and use the Pop Up Menu.
Hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to do here.

Your new question can be construed as, sort of, similar if you use the Conditional Format route.
Select all the cells where you want to have this effect, and set a Conditional Fornat where "Equal To: 0" results in Text Color of the same as your cell background Fill, usually White.
An IF-test in the cells with the percentage calculation will wortk too. Let's say your base value is in Column A.
=IF(A>0, A*X%, "")
where X is the amount of the percentage you are calculating will blank the cell on a zero result.

Currently I am doing in following way
LOOP AT I_DATA.
UPDATE EKES SET EINDT = P_NEWDAT
WHERE EBELN = I_DATA-EBELN
AND EBELP = I_DATA-EBELP
AND ETENS = I_DATA-ETENS.
ENDLOOP.
I know we should not update standard table directly. This will only update EKES it will not update other tables related with EKES-EINDT.

System Crash - Manage Site?

My processor fried but fortunately no files were lost. I have
mounted the drive that held all the necessary data for the site I'm
working on in a temporary machine. I still have the folder
local_sites, that has all the various folders and html pages
intact. Do I need to use the "manage site" function and create a
"new site" in order to continue working on my project. (local_sites
prior to the crash was in my d: drive...after mounting the drive in
the temp computer it is ow located in the H: drive)

I have a similar problem... but I really would like to
restore the information if it is available somewhere, because I
have many sites that will be hard for me to recreate, because they
have non-std setups and because of my poor memory of these sites I
touch once a year.
Where in the registry is the site definition stuff stored?
Can I restore it?
My situation is that our server was rebuilt with a new domain
and new domain users created, plus a windows "genuine" fix was made
on my PC, which didn't completely reinstall the OS, but it's more
like a repair, according to my IT guy. My old domain user documents
and settings were saved. Don't know if the registry was backed up
or if it's now too late!

DW Manage Site feature keeps crashing

Hi,
Am having all sorts of issues with Dreamweaver 8's Manage
Site feature at the moment. It keeps crashing the entire program
me. I am running DW on a PC and OS is XP Pro (reformatted/ rebuilt
in Nov 06) <-- DW8 has been running fine till today.
Have uninstalled and re-installed DW8. Have repaired the
program through the control panel --> Add/ Remove Programs.
I usually upload and download sites through DW's FTP built in
functionality. Till then I guess I'll have to use a 3rd party FTP
client. Still I want this Manage Site feature up and working again,
specially so I can check in and out with fellow developers.
Can anyone advise please?

Redirecting back to site after widget is signed using REST API

Hi,
I basically would like users to be directed to a EchoSign widget then back to our external site after signing. I've tried using this:

to generate a widget with a redirect url but I can't seem to specify a widget I've already created. Instead I had to give it two fields:

Also the redirected happens after the widget is signed, but techinically it isn't finished until the user confirms their email. Is there a way to set up the redirect at that point?

I don't care if the client text/image editing and updating doesn't update in my Adobe Muse, as long as my client can update the text online.
Please help me answer this question, I have used adobe for decades (2) and am a print designer. I want to use Muse for websites but if my clients can't update text and images, I don't see how I can make it work.

At the moment you can't using Muse's widgets, though you can insert html! So, you could have photo galleries linked to flickr that the client can update to, for example. I'm sure there are other options for slicker slideshows that can be updated client side!

I'm assuming you are creating a Point-to-Site VPN Connection, for which the steps would be:
Configure a Virtual Network and a Dynamic Routing Gateway.
Create your Certificates.
Configure your VPN Clients.
So to answer your question, you would upload the root certificate before you create the client VPN Package.
