Clip name burn-in for audio track

OK, I know about the Clip Name burn-in for video clips, which requires the effect to be applied to every clip.
What I really need is something that will do the same for an audio clip - so that I can export video which shows which audio is being used. Or, ideally, displays the clip name for a nominated video or audio track.
Does anyone know of any plugins which can do this?
Thanks

  • Can't enable recording for Audio tracks with H2 Zoom

I'm running Logic Express 7 on a Macbook Pro Intel.
I used to record vocals with the H2 Zoom as an external mic. But since I ran an update on Logic, I can no longer enable recording for Audio tracks for recording as soon as I connect the H2.
Interestingly, it let's me only choose an H2 output driver.
Connecting the same device to Garageband I can choose both, H2 output driver and H2 input driver.
Anyone else facing this problem? Advice is greatly appreciated.

You have to set it up using the aggregate device editor (utilities folder). In the utilities folder open AUDIO MIDI setup. From the menu select Audio>Open Aggregate device editor. Add a new aggregate device and name it zoom. Selelct H2 auidio in and H2 Audio out. Check the clock next to H2 Audio out only. Make the Zoom aggregate device you just created your default input in the systems setting area of the audio midi setup form. Close Audio Midi Setup and return to Logic. You may need to restart logic. You should now see "Zoom" in Preferences>Audio> Core audio> Device and you should be able to record using the H2.
    Hope this helps

  • Logic pro 9,record ready has gone for audio tracks, can't record now.

I upgraded from Logic 8 to logic pro 9 back in october, everything was fine no probs.I have come back to record after a month away & now there is no record ready for audio tracks on any page, they're there for instruments & midi tracks. All else seems fine - just can't record! Also is there any way of getting help from apple, can't see anywhere to contact them without paying!! can anyone help with this?,tis the season of frustration....

You have to select an Input device in the Audio preferences. Since Logic 9 you can assign different devices for In- and Output. So make a selection there and everything will be fine.

  • Global setting for audio track?

Is there a way to set the level for a particular audio track so that no matter what clip is edited onto that track it always reflects the same audio level?
For example: I post a lot of b-roll to a particular track so instead of setting the volume for each and every clip, I would like to set the level for the track.
Anyone know of a way to do that?

You can do it for the entire track AFTER you've placed all the clips in that track. Select all clips in the track and then go to Modify->Levels and enter an ABSOLUTE value. Any clips added to that track after the change will not be affected.

  • Sync Lock for Audio Tracks

I usually have a lot of video and audio tracks going at the same time and run PP CS4.
I have read and watched many video tutorials and one thing I read gave me the impression that with CS4, if I had sync lock set for all my video AND audio tracks, it would keep all my audio tracks in sync with my video when I edit the video or add video transitions.
However I just performed an edit that moved a section of my original video and audio on the timline, and my second and third audio tracks just stayed right where they were and of course then were out of sync which I had to re-sync manually.
Did I miss something in the explanation or do I have a setting wrong?
For example if an edit on the original video and audio moved that timeline 30 seconds, I would want my audio track 2 and 3 move similarly which is what sync lock is supposed to do.
If I could get this to work, it would help my editing immensely.
    Thanks,
    BJBBJB1

I found this Adobe video that helped get sync lock and audio through my head that I thought I would post in case someone else runs into this thread needing help:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/digital-video/mapping-source-tracks-to-target-tracks
Near the very end is when they finally get to it.  So clearly sync lock would work for insert editing, etc.
However for my original issue of changing track lengths to say accomodate handles, or other "manual" clip length changes made once the clips are on the timeline, it appears that the group command is the way to go as Harm suggested.  Sync lock does nothing for me in regard to changing clip lengths once on the timeline.  Only when inserting clips.
Just like with Photoshop many years ago, and my last NLE, clearly learning a good workflow for PP will serve me well in the future.  Clearly you want to make sure any clips you put on the timeline already have "handles" and also, if extensive length changes are needed, do that before you have multiple video and audio tracks piled up!
Thanks to all for the help!

  • Entering tablature for audio track in Logic Express 9

    Hi,
When recording an audio track in Logic Express 9, I'd like to manually enter tablature for the recorded piece. After reading the manual and some tweaking, I still have a couple of questions about this:
    1. It seems one can only enter tablature for midi tracks, so I end up adding a fake midi track, muting it, then entering tablature on that midi track. Is there an easier approach?
    2. Is there a way to enter whole chords at once in the tab track instead of first having to enter each note of a chord separately, then copy/pasting that chord to all places I need it? (I know one can add chord symbols, but these are just text symbols that do not have rhythm notation.)
    3. It seems that the tablature editor in Logic Express supports only a limited number of fingerings, i.e., one cannot add a note on the 6th fret of the 6th string, as this is automatically turned into the 1st fret on the 5th string. Can this be changed?
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi,
    To answer your questions,
    1. I'm sorry, but there is no easier way. Since the "audio to score" function (where you let Logic interpret the notes in the audio and makes midi out of it) hasn't fully matured yet, I don't think there's an easier approach.
    2. In the environment you can add a chord memorizer. With this function you can Logic tell to put in a (for instance) C-chord when you hit just the C-note on your midi keyboard. Since I used this function just once and I'm not anywhere close to a Mac with Logic I can't tell exactly how this works right now.
    3. You can change the position of a note on the tablature by changing the note's MIDI channel (in the inspector).

  • "MIDI thru" box for audio tracks... what is it for?

    Hi Guys
Sorry for this possibly quite obvious question... when I create audio tracks that have nothing to do with MIDI, why is it that the inspector column on the left still has a section for "MIDI thru"? Is this for use with control surfaces that use MIDI channels to control paramaters on an audio track, or... for something else?
And is there a way to get rid of these all together, so that each audio channel isn't paired to a MIDI channel?
Apologies if this is a silly question!
    Cheers,
    Mike

If you don't know the answer then it's not a silly question.
You're simply seeing a connection where none exists. The Region parameter box will display the parameters of any selected Region(s). When no region is selected the region parameter box displays the "MIDI Thru" parameters.
Now, if you create some more tracks (Midi, Audio or whatever) and haven't selected any region then the Region Parameter box will still show the (same) Midi Thru parameters. It has nothing to do with selected Tracks only selected Regions.
The Track Parameter box displays the parameters for the selected Track.
The region parameter box displays the parameters for the selected Region.

  • No plug-ins for audio tracks other than 1-4

I have a problem. I am wanting to record mulitple audio tracks and use plug-ins, this is fine for tracks 1-4, however any other audio tracks don't have the 'R' button in between the solo and mute buttons and the channel strip panel on the left hand side has no inserts, sends I/O button or anything!
I called the logic helpline but they were no good at all, if anything they were down right rude towards me so I wouldn't sugegst phoning them any time soon!
Anybody got any suggestions that'd be great as I am currently doing my university coursework and this is kinda vital!

Clang - you do come across as rude. If the person
wanted to read the manual - yep you guessed it - they
wouldve already done that. Telling users on here to
RTFM is useless, and is pointless as well. Forums are
all about helping each other, some people just want
to get their answers this way, and there's really
nothing wrong with that. Its the spirit of being
supportive - thats what this place is all about.
Please dont tell anyone else here to RTFM, that
doesnt work at all mate, and comes across as hostile.
I see a pattern evolving from the mist...you are afraid of the letters:
    RTFM!!!
Now,ask yourself, how did your post telling some other guy off about the RTFM,help the OP?? In no way. That's how.I might be rude,I might have a sarastic sense of humour, but I never tell posters to not read the manual. It's there for a reason. Many trees died so that the manual could be there for them.At least respect those poor dead trees.
    (More sense of humour...) :P

  • Record button only available for AUDIO TRACK, not for AUDIO INST.

Hi -- For some reason Logic Express 7.1.1 is only giving me the opportunity to record enable tracks that are AUDIO TRACKS. All of my other tracks (mainly software synths) using the AUDIO INSTRUMENTS don't have the ability to record.
I opened previous files where I'd recorded on these tracks, but even on older files, the option still is not there.
    Any thoughts?
As for setup, I just have an MAudio keystaton attached via USB, and it's playing the software instruments fine. Also, I sometimes have an MBox hooked up (although not right now.) I updated this recently for TIGER, and I didn't know if this messed it up.
    Powerbook G4, 1.5 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

don't know if on Logic express there's the key command 'Capture Last Take as Recording'.
If yes, during playback you can play anything you like on your keyboard and by pressing the keys that you have assigned for this key command you can have everything that you played as events on the specific audio instrument as if you were in record mode.
If you move the SPL the new information will delete the previous one.

  • Burning playlist for audio

Well, I'm baffled. I haven't burnt a disc to play in our Bose system since Tiger & now I burnt one in SnowLeopard & altho it'll play back ok in iTunes, it will not play on the Bose. Bose's screen gives a "disc error" & ejects it.
I have carefully gone over how to in iTunes Help, selected "audio" etc. but it just won't play.
What does anyone think may be the matter? Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
    Mary

    I'm using Verbatim DVD-R.
The playlists I burned successfully before were on my PPC Mac with the Tiger system.
I'm on Intel now...didn't try to burn any with Leopard so can only speak for SnowLeopard.
I shouldn't think the difference would be PPC vs Intel so can't make out what could be going on.

  • How can I make a synced audio track match the length of selected clips in a multicam seq?

I have a continuous multicam sequence of about 13 minutes containing a synced master audio track recorded from seperate microphones. I want to rearrange scenes from it into my final sequence, but when I select a range of clips to nest the entire length of audio gets pasted into the new sequence. I want to trim the audio to match just the clips I've selected but not lose sync. Is there a way to do this or is nesting not the way to chop up a sequence and rearrange the scenes in it?
    Thanks.
    Mike

Me too!!!  I have a multicam sequence from 2 cameras with the audio staying on camera 1. I also have a seperate, continuous  audio track recorded from microphones which I have synced to the timeline. I'm trying to select a group of sequential clips of different camera angles from the timeline to create scenes which I can insert into a final sequence but in a different order from how they are on the timeline. Let's say I want to take a series of clips that start at 3:30 on the timeline and go until 4:30 on the timeline.  It will contain several cuts between the different cameras and I want to use that section as the first scene of my new sequence. If I select all of the clips in that time period and nest them into a new sequence, I only get the audio from camera 1 on the new TL. If I try window selecting those clips to include the continuous audio track, I get a new TL with 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the desired audio, then the video clips, and then the rest of the audio making a 13 minute TL. I just learned, after searching around, about marking in and out points on my multicam seq. and using the trick of "LIFTing" and then "UNDOing" to keep my  multiseq intact, and then pasting into a new sequence. That works, but I'm only getting the audio track from off the camera. It won't select and lift the section of the other audio track that I want. I'm rushed for time so that's the way I've ended up finishing the video for now. The camera audio is just going to have to do although the mic recording is much better. The more I try to explain this the more confused I get and I'm sure everybody reading it does too. Any ideas?   Thanks!

  • Audio track restarts in the middle of a clip

    Hi!
I'm having an interesting issue with the audio tracks in my Timeline.
When I start playing a clip the audio is in sync with the video. Then about 5 seconds into playing the clip the audio starts over. The playhead does not go back to the beginning, but the same audio is looped over again--and of course is now out of sync with the video track. The clips are not out of sync in the Timeline.
For example, one clip is an interview: "This duck is un-banded so I'm going to get to put a band on this duck. It's a male mallard. I can tell because it's starting to get it's green head. Although at this time of the year..." (audio cuts off and restarts): "This duck is unbanded so I'm going to get to put a band on this duck. It's a male mallard. I can tell because it's starting to get it's green head. Although at this time of the year they are molting so they don't have the brilliant green head that we're all used to seeing."
The waveform of the audio restarting is represented when I open the clip from the Timeline into the Viewer! However if I go back to the Browser to the original clip and play that, the audio track is fine.
What's going on here? What can I do to fix this besides grabbing the original clips from the Browser and replacing them in the timeline? Or forcing the audio tracks out of sync to match? (eek!)
I must have done something weird...

One example of an affected clip:
Source is from a Panasonic HD camera--so transferred to FC from a P2 card
    Item properties:
    817.5 MB
    960x720
DVCPRO HD 720p60, Interger (little Endian), Timecode
Hey--could this be caused by the frame rate of the sequence? I just noticed that the sequence these affected clips are in is 60fps, and my video clips are 23.98fps. So--I copied and pasted my clips into a new 23.98 sequence and the issue has gone away. Huh. Oops... Not enough coffee this morning.
Thanks for trying to help out--sorry to have answered my own question (duh).

  • Is it possible to separate audio tracks and/or timecode on clips in browser

I transcoded my AF100 clips with log and transfer and came out with all my audio in stereo tracks. There are two separate tracks corresponding to the two mics but they are linked. I know I can separate them one by one on my timeline, but I'm wondering if there's away to select all the clips and do the same thing in my browser, since I have to do the same thing to ALL my hundreds of clips.
Similarly, I made audio tracks without timecode for my transcribers. Now I have to go in and set an auxiliary timecode starting at 00 for all my clips. I'm wondering if there's a way to do that for all the clips at once. I wish I had set the camera to start the timecode at 00 for each clip, but I didn't think of that in time.
Thanks in advance for any help. This forum saves my life!

I don't know much about your business except what you've said but my first impression is that you are way over-thinking and over-producing; your situation is unnecessarily complicated.
I am finishing to DVD. I tried before production to figure out the best way to get these clips to my transcribers ASAP- the start to finish on this project is very short, and it was taking too long to compress clips stamped with TC and the Pro Res clips I am making via Log and Trasfer are huge and don't play well on every computer (all of my trasncribers are on PCs) Also, they are all in a country other than the one I was producing in, so getting them Pro-Res clips would have meant mailing lots of drives internationally. The easiest way to get the transcribers the clips turned out to be using Drop Box to send them audio clips. If you still think I'm over producing, do tell- I'm def not one who enjoys over-anything and if there is a more minimalist approach I'd love to know!
You can, of course, create actions or macros, if you understand the programming, to run batch processing but only if all of the files can be processed in the same way.
So, is there any way to set auxiliary timecodes OR to separate audio tracks on every single clip in my browser?
And is there a way to get Log and Transfer to create clips that don't have the audio in stereo?
    Thanks

  • Premiere corrupted the audio track of XDCAM EX

I am very new to Premiere.  I received a file from a friend who wants me to convert the video to NTSC DV widescreen.  I imported the MP4 file and added it to the timeline.  I was able to convert fine with exception to an aspect ratio issue.  So, I decided to try again.  Much to my surprise I find the audio track is corrupt.  The first part of the track is fine except with occassional pops & cracks, then after about 10 minutes the entire audio track turns to peaked white noise?  I checked the modify date of the source file and sure enough it has changed.  I did not tell Premiere to overwrite anything and thought it woudl not alter source files.  How can this be?  What can I do?
    Thanks.

Thank you all for your help.  What I ended up doing was create a new project and import the entire BPAV directory.  However, after conforming, there was still one clip's audio track that was corrupt.  So, I decided to create yet another project and inport only the single troubled clip.  After conforming the audio track was still corrupt.  I did look at the audio tracks closely and they were corrupt in the same place.  (eg. the beginning of the track was fine and then suddenly at a set point the track would go bad).  I know it is not a bad file because Sony's player plays it fine.  So, I did some checking and found the "Media Cache Files" folder.  I blew the contents away, recreated another new project and imported the troubled clip.  After conforming I find the audio in Premiere is just fine.  The media cache files were taking up a lot of space but had not nearly filled the drive.  What ever it was I'm glad there is a forum like this to help us new users.
    Thanks again,

  • Audio track 1 and 2 not lined up??? help!!

When you put clip in timeline they go on 2 audio tracks for some reason. well, i must have deleted something I shouldn't have because 1/4 way through movie the 2 audio tracks are not directly lined up with one another. for some reason the bottom track says +15. I tried to undo but you are openly allowed 10-15 or so 'undo's" and I must have made error long time ago and not noticed. Then I tried to lock the audio track 1 for my video clip and move the audio track 2 directly underneath it but it won't let me. Even when audio track 2 is unlocked I cannot move audio track 1 for same movie clip.
When I play my movie the dialogue is not synced anymore. Can I fix this?
    suggestions?

    Birmy wrote:
I have been told by a friend to re-do my entire movie from the point the audio track 1 and audio track 2 have become displaced. If anyone in the Apple community can help me I would appreciate it.
I find it hard to believe that when audio track 1 and audio track 2 become displaced there is not an easy way to line them up again. Since 80% of my movie has an audio track 2 clip that has a red icon with + 15 on it it seems to suggest that audio track 2 is 15 frames off of audio track 1. (Audio track 1 and Audio track 2 are from the same video clip)
So I have about 20% of my movie clips that have lined up Audio track 1 and Audio track 2 and then all of a sudden the audio track 1 and audio track 2 are not lined up. So I hear an echo to every actor who states dialogue because audio track 1 "says the line" and then of course audio track 2 which is not lined up "says the line" a few seconds later.
If anyone can answer this question you will save me about 10-15 hours of work. Thank you!
Your friend is, umm, to be kind, ignorant.
There is an easy way. Right click on the red icon and select slip into sync.
The most likely explanation is that you have deactivated the link function of the timeline. It is a small chain link icon in the right upper corner of the timeline button bar.
Since you are having so many problems associated with yoru project's audio, I strongly urge you to learn how to increment your project on a daily basis so you have an intact version history (no, I'm not going to explain that to you) and be absoltuey CERTAIN you understand how the auotsave vault works and how to recover your project if you need to.
