Clipboard huge mistake MacBook Pro - saved a critical message to clipboard, sent message, site had error, copied "contact us" address and oh, no, no, no my Message! Please tell me there is a way to find it somewhere in this computer.
Hi! I am a recovering from chemo patient -- lots of pain and can only sit for short periods as well as off and on brain fog yet I am alive and this is good. It took me 3 hours today to write a very important concise yet detailed and to the point message to a doc today using the hospital patient portal messaging system. I felt fantastic that I did it and I got it done and I did it well. That was a big deal for me at this point in healing. Just for any "in case" situation I did a "save" (to the clipboard) of my message before pushing "Send". I received the message: "Thank you! Your message has been sent." Then I called the doc office to let them know and while the phone was ringing I noiticed "where's the message?" and "Oh, no, no, no, it's not here!" I hung up. I looked under Help, read, decided to do "contact us" using my yahoo acct. instead of mail, I copied the address. Then it hit me -- Oh no, no, no, I did not just overwrite 3 hours of off and on writing of a very important message with a puny email address, did I?!
I searched using Finder, via the Library, via Clipboard, via this and via that -- the only thing I saw that was at the same time I had "saved" the text to the clipboard was under cache.db, and under type it said a document. I have no idea what that is or how to open it and when I selected it there was the message to go to the APP store or use an existing program/application and I have no idea what to chose. I don't even know if that might be what I saved to the clipboard before I made my great faux pas.
Could anyone please help me? Am I looking in the right place? Is there a right place?
When I do a Finder search for Clipboard the last entry was earlier on the 16th. I did this on the 17th. Under cache under library is the only matching time.
I don't think I have it in me to rewrite (let alone remember) that entire letter (message) .
I will be ever so grateful for advice, for how-to; oh please, there must be a how-to -- those words didn't just disappear into non-existance, right?

How do I import an iPhoto Library (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.
So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I was trying to go to another library when I noticed a dupliacte file. I "thought" I selected only that file and went to "Move project to trash". When I tried to see my original Project I've been working on for over 16 hours... it was GONE! It's not in my trash, not in the iMove-->Projects folder... Did I just hose myself?

Please tell me there is a way to remove the slide that cuts up the pictures
Ok, your slideshow, photo album template in iphoto is THE BOMB.. so cool!
But, someone thought, hey lets put one that cuts all the photos up and almost surely cuts the important part of whatever the original photo was.. grr?
It wouldn't be so bad, if we could go back through the presentation and mix and match to make that slide work, but inevitably, it cuts out someone's head?
Please tell me there is a work around, or way to tell it not to use that slide option? I'd rather have more photo on photos or multi photo frames than anything auto cutting pictures.

JasonMany of the themes are not designed for portrait oriented photos. That's what you're running into with the scrapbook theme. Not much you can do about it.
There's a 3rd party slideshow application, PhotoPresenter, that has over 25 animated themes. There are several that are sort of like the scrapbook that do handle the portrait as they should be handled. Some of the available themes are shown in this demo page: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. Look at Portfolio, Frame and Album. It integrates seamlessly with iPhoto. and iTunes You can download and run it in demo mode.
The early fading of music in a slideshow is a well documented problem. Just send your complaint/bug report to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. The more reports the better. -
PLEASE tell me there is a way to apply automatic strokes using the Pen Tool.
To apply pencil and brush strokes using the Pen Tool (in Photoshop CC - the version I'm using), I would constantly have to right-click on my path, and on the dialog menu that pops up, select "Stroke Path...," then select which "Tool" (I namely use the Pencil and Brush tools), then hit "OK." And that gets ANNOYING. This is Photoshop CC - which means there should be a way for the Pen Tool to automatically apply the (Pencil/Brush) strokes while I'm creating paths. Illustrator does that - so there should be a way for Photoshop to do that as well. It's a software a majority of artists use; there SHOULD be a way to automatically apply pen strokes. PLEASE tell me there is.

You cannot get Siri on an iPhone 4. You can install the Google search app, which has voice recognition, but it can only search, it cannot control the phone. The iPhone 4 does have Voice Control, which is only for basic phone functions.

Hi, I have macbook Pro, running Leopard OS X. I partitioned my hard drive a while ago to install windows and only allowed myself 10 Gig of data. I deleted windows after i realised i wasnt enjoying using it at all and wasted my hard drive. I now decided that i want another OSX on there instead yet i have only allowed myself 10 gb on the partition. I have ben thru some programms but am struggling on making this partition bigger.
I only want it at 20gb but cant seem to make the partition bigger, only smaller or split it into further partition.
Is there a way to do this, i have all installation discs from original OSX so think this could help.
Any help please would be fantastic.
Thanks ChrisHi, dragging the partition will only make smaller, not larger. In disk utility you can only split or make smaller the partitions. Yes i booted from installation disks also but still no help.
And Brody, I am willing to erase the disc completely, infact jus started doing a backup in order to do so but that failed also. And the information you gave on partition a hard drive, Although very simple and i already know how to do this, but it wont let me make the partition bigger, and i dont want to make a new partition, just enlarge the one i already have, which i dont see possible from disk utility.
Getting really frustrated now, even backing up is saying no to me. **** external being a douche.
I dont mind erasing the hard drive but surely this must be doable without deleting the secondary partition back t a single volume, and re partitioning into 2 volumes again.

I have OS X Lion and the messages beta on my macbook pro. When in messages, if I initiate a video chat there is no audio. I know this must be something on my end because if I'm invited to a video chat it works fine. Please help

The Buddy's Audio can get dropped completely if the speed of your Internet connections are vastly different.
For example the minimum speed for a 1-1 video chat is only 128kbps Upload (As Downloads tend to be faster).
Where I live in the United Kingdom I can only get DLS. This is further subject to the distance to the Exchange.
DLS at less than 3.5 km can be done at 20Mb at most exchanges.
At some exchanges there is roll out of some Fibre optic services.
In most larger towns and cities there is normally the option of a Cable service that offers similar figures.
In some parts of Sweden you can get 100Mbps services.
When the speed from your ISP varies a large amount then iChat will drop Frames to smooth out the Video
There comes a point when so many frames are dropped that the Audio will not make sense and will be dropped.
At about 128kbps a 5% variance will take you below the 100kbps mark (after allowing for the actual connection overheads)
At 10Mbps that 5% variance can be (in round terms) 500kbps
(A 500kbps service is itself good enough for a 4 way Video chat)
My experience is that PC users on AIM tend to only send the Pic at 10 frames a second (Fps). Any slower than this and the picture losses it's smoothness and flow.
You may see different Speeds and Frame Rates when you Call Out compared to when others Call In.
Setting the Bandwidth Limit to a lower figure such as 500kbps (fast enough for 4 way chats) may get around any variances in the speeds you see in the Connection Doctor during a live chat.

I have purchased a new iPad2 and I was wondering if there is a way to get iPod content onto this new device. I am having difficulty finding any information on this kind of transfer and I am not sure if it is even possible. Have you been syncing the iPod with iTunes? Then you just connect the iPad and set it up through iTunes and sync any content you want onto it.

In terms of games/apps. If they are not universal (you will see a + symbol next to them) or made for iPad (you would see an HD in the name, usually) then they won't look good on an iPad as those apps will open in a iPod sized window, giving you the option to enlarge. -
