Clone Base datos asm

Hi every body,
I'm testing with oracle, asm and virtual machine.
Today i cloned a virtual machine (with oracle and asm) to another server.
When i tried connect to asm instance i have many errors when i tried to start asm instance.
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Synchronization Service
Is there any procedure for clone server vm (oracle+asm) to another vm?
Or is impossible?

Use RMAN restore(Not duplicate command as it opens the database)
And then recover till point
while opening:
sql> alter database open resetlogs downgrade;
and then run CATDWGRD.SQL

How to clone database in ASM?

Is EM and RMAN the only way to clone?
shutdown and copy file does not work anymore. Netbackup not work for ASM.

I've successfully created a test version of an 11i app moving it from a 2 node RAC'ed to non-RAC DB. My goal is to test upgrade process path from 11i to 12. When I attempted to apply the first Opatch to the database required for upgrade process, I received notification that my setup is still seeing it as RAC'ed with 2 nodes. I've attepted to recreated my oraInventory, thinking it might observe that the system is now non-RAC, but it re-creates showing it trying to be RAC'ed. I've used the FND_NET_SERVICES.remove_server to rid the existance of the RAC'ed nodes prior to running adautocfg.sh - SELECT NAME FROM FND_APP_SERVERS; shows only my two nodes. Is there a way to clear the database from seeing the RAC'ed and startup using my non-RAC'ed env?

1. With file system, we were able to set some threshold alerts at the OS mount point level. Is this possible with ASM since it is a raw device at the OS level?
2. The ASM directories are logical and is visible ONLY at the oracle ASM level. True?
3. Is cold backup an option with ASM?
4. Is RMAN the only solution with ASM disks?
5. Are there any suggested Hardware snap/clone available for ASM storage?

2. Yep, or use asmcmd (from the ASM ORACLE_HOME) or ftp
3. If you use RMAN to cold-backup: yes. You cannot use a regular backup to back up your devices, unless you have designated files as 'disks' to ASM (But who would want that?). In this case you should shut down ASM and backup the file system where these files reside.
4. Yes, it is.
5. That depends on your hardware configuration. It is possible to run ASM on concurrent/shared, host based mirrored volume groups/volumes. If you use SAN technology, you can always verify whether these options are available from the storage manufacturer. However, I would be really careful with these, always taking things down before taking snapshots/flashcopies/clones/whatever you call them.

Cloning a RAC environment using ASM to a single node.

Hi partners,
I would like to know if, there is any procedure to clone a RAC environment with Ebusiness Suite using ASM, OMF and raw devices to a single node database?
I know, it can reached using Rapid Clone, but I would like to know, what are the needed steps to clone the database which is using ASM and raw devices, I am thinking to recrate manually the controlfiles.
Also, I think that I will need to clone firstable the ASM instance, and then try to clone the database.
I have looking at Metalink, but I haven't found any Note about that.
Any advice or help will be really appreciated.

Is possible to recover hot.backup of a nonarchive database?

I have read on several books that hot backups must be done on a database set with ARCHIVELOG mode, but it is physically possible to recover a hot-backup of a database that was in NOARCHIVELOG mode. Obviously some transactions would be lost, but it is possible to do it?
I'm trying to do it unsuccesfully (when I try to startup the data base he asme for recovering the database and then always ask me for a archive log file.......)

What you have red is correct.
You can't do hot backup on non-archivelog database.

Help with Unique Key Insert!!!

When i try to do an insert "A" into a DB table, the transaction fills the info on creation mode, but is not doing the same at modification mode.
Here i send the insert, i don't if the problems comes from sintaxis:
INSERT zpsprctr_det FROM TABLE it_planif ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS.

Hi,
with
INSERT dbtable FROM TABLE itab ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS.
you will insert several lines in a database table from an internal table. Duplicate keys are ignored, the 1st entry is written.
To update them, you should use
MODIFY dbtable FROM TABLE itab.
This updates all lines that are existing or inserts all lines that are still missing. If you have duplicate keys here, the last entry will do the last update.

Pero no se como copiar una base de datos A en una nueva base datos B, dentro del mismo server.
Yo suelo hacer lo siguiente:
- abro el MSSQL Management Studio.
- hago una copia de seguridad de la base de datos A.
- selecciono la carpeta DATABASES.
- botón derecho del ratón --> Restore database.
- escribo el nombre para la nueva base de datos B que no exista ya en el servidor.
- selecciona el fichero del backup. Ojo: en opciones debes comprobar los ficheros de datos y de log y cambiarlos si procede para que no sobreescriban unos existentes.
- acepta para comenzar el proceso y a esperar que acabe.

Monitoreo de 200 dispositivos

Buen dia a todos.
Tengo una duda. Quiero utilizar labview para monitorear mas de 200 dispositivos (adquisicion de datos y control de salidas digitales) de forma remota y colocados en distintos lugares, cada uno de ellos me estará enviando al menos 5 variables analogas y 5 variables digitales, tambien voy a enviar a cada dispositivo al menos 5 variables digitales para activar relays. Se como hacerlo con un solo dispositivo, pero me están solicitando el control de mas de 200 y no quiero estar revisando 200 paginas para ver el estatus de cada dispositivo. ¿Como puedo monitorear todo en una sola interfaz de manera remota?

Las 200 computadoras esta conectadas a la misma red? Es decir están bajo una VPN? Lo que puedes hacer es que las 200 PCs estén enviando los datos adquiridos a una base de datos en una computadora central y en dicha computadora central habilitarla para que mediante un VI en formato Remote Front Panel se pueda monitorear a través de cualquier nodo de la red.
Para la escritura de los datos de cada una de las PCs a una base de datos necesitaras el Data Base Connectivity Toolkit.

Puedes descargarlo en modo de evaluación para comenzar a realizar pruebas de escritura a base de datos, este toolkit tiene la ventaja de que puedes utilizar cualquier base datos de tu elección (Access, SQL, etc). Puedes utilizar como ayuda los ejemplos que vienen dentro del toolkit para no comenzar desde 0.
Una vez que tengas la escritura a base de datos, designa una PC central y desarrolla la aplicación utilizando Tab Controls para la visualización de los 200 equipos y simplemente habilita un remote front panel de tu aplicación para que puedas visualizar la aplicación desde cualquier nodo conectado a tu red. 10205 RDBMS home with 10204 CRS

Hi friends,
We have a requirement to upgrade the CRS and ASM and Rdbms home from 10204 to 10205. For this purpose, I am not trying to upgrade the existing 10204 homes directly. Instead I am trying to install a new base version:
1) Install base 10201 for ASM and Rdbms home (on same server where 10204 crs asm rdbms is there)
2) upgrade base 10201 ASM and Rdbms to 10205 using patchset 8202632
3) Upgrade CRS later during the weekend.
My reason for doing this in this manner is so that I can save time during the actual outage window by just upgrading CRS at that time. But when I get to the point of applying the patchset, I get following error:
Checking Oracle Clusterware Version
The active version of oracleclusterware is not 10.2.0.5. Recommendation: you must upgrade all nodes of the Oracle Clusterware to 10205...you must upgrade all nodes of the Oracle Clusterware to 10205 before proceeding with this installation.
What I have done is that I have checked the User Verified checkbox and proceeded with the installation and upgrade to 10205. So my question would be:
Is what I did correct ?
Should I have just stopped the installation and proceed with CRS upgrade first and then do this upgrade ?
Will it cause any issues later like ASM or Rdbms home not working later when CRS is actually upgraded to 10205 ?

I was checking this note "Oracle Clusterware - ASM - Database Version Compatibility (Doc ID 337737.1)
" and "The Oracle Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware (CRS) version must be the highest version down to the 4th digit in the possible combinations at all times. This means you have to upgrade Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware first."
I agree with this but I am not going to use the 10205 aSM and RDBMS homes until after the CRS itself is upgraded to 10205 on weekend. So on weekend all homes will be having 10205 only. Its only now when installing it separately that I need to know if its ok to do like this or if any issues....

Problemas con Enterprise Manager..

Hola, he instalado la Base de Datos 817 EE sobre w2000 prof. satisfactoriamente, pero no me es posible levantar el Enterprise Manager que viene con la base datos. Yo he seguido toda la instalacion de acuerdo al instalador, solamente cambie el DB_name (que es igual al sid) 'frarena' el resto es tal cual como lo hace el instalador.
Hay algo que deba modificar?? el Listener esta levantado.

Te consulto esto, pues me ha pasado que dado que es servicio de windows, es mejor instalar dicho servicio con un usuario que sea ADMINISTRADOR local de la máquina. Lo relevante aqui es que sea un usuario que no pertenezca al DOMINIO, sino que sea exclusivamente LOCAL al server y que sea administrador. Con esto te aseguras que dicho usuario que instala y levanta el servicio tiene 100% de poder sobre la tarea de levantar este programa.
Otro tema que te puede estar pasando, es que tengas algun FIREWALL o ANTIVIRUS que este chequeando los puertos del server. Cuando esto sucede, podria estar pasando que estos programas bloquean puertos y eso provoque que los PCs clientes que intentan conectarse al LICENSE SERVER no lo encuentren y por consecuencia aparezca la pantalla de pregunta sobre cual es el LICENSE SERVER.

How do we clone a database from RAC/ASM to RAC/ASM?

Is there a best practice or recommended recipe for cloning from a RAC/ASM instance to another RAC/ASM instance? We've done single instance cloning in the past with RMAN and it looks like grid control does something similar -- until we try to clone from one Exadata cluster to another. Surely this is now a common procedure...?

Hi,
I would not use cloning with 11.2. anymore.
Though this will work (you have to take care of copying some more stuff though, like the gpnp profile), simply using the "addnode.sh" which works in silent mode in 11.2. is a lot easier.
Re: Any issues to add 3rd node to 11gr2 grid with 11.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.4 homes?

How to clone a 2-node ASM RAC db to a 3-node ASM RAC db by RMAN?

We need to clone a 2-node ASM RAC db to a 3-node ASM RAC db by RMAN. I would think this will be about the same as a regular single db procedure by RMAN mostly. However, in 3 node RAC, there will be additional instance thread in redo (thread 1,2, and 3). Questions will be
1. Should I use CRSCTL to add new instance (3rd)? -- I guess yes
2. Should I create additional online redo group for thread 3? -- I guess yes
3. Should I create addition undo tablespace? -- I guess yes
Can any body provide a procedure of cloning the DB?
