Cloud service using two machines, PC and Mac?

I know that I can use the Cloud service on two computers, one at a time. But can one be a PC and one a MAC?

Yes.
That's one of the advantages of the Cloud license over the traditional, perpetual software license.

Are there any unique benefits that come with my paid membership?
Yes, as a member of Creative Cloud, you get many benefits that you do not get when you purchase a traditional shrinkwrapped product:
An ever-expanding membership that provides access to Adobe's latest products, services, features, and workflows as soon as they are available. You no longer have to wait 12, 18, or 24 months for the latest innovations.
Access to both the Mac OS and Windows® versions of the desktop applications and the ability to install them on your primary computer and one backup computer. So, if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, you can install your applications on both as long as they are not running at the same time.

  • Issues deploying a cloud service with two endpoints (HTTP and HTTPS)

    I ran into an issue this week in the azure portal when I tried to deploy a cloud service with two endpoints.  (I am using the azure sdk 2.2).  I deployed the cloud service to production with the following endpoints in the ServiceDefinition.csdef:
    <WebRole name="NameChanged.Web" vmsize="Small">
    <Sites>
    <Site name="Web">
    <Bindings>
    <Binding name="HttpsIn" endpointName="HttpsIn" />
    <Binding name="HttpIn" endpointName="HttpIn" />
    </Bindings>
    </Site>
    </Sites>
    <Endpoints>
    <InputEndpoint name="HttpIn" protocol="http" port="80" />
    <InputEndpoint name="HttpsIn" protocol="https" port="443" certificate="NameChangedCertificate" />
    </Endpoints>
    <Imports>
    <Import moduleName="Diagnostics" />
    </Imports>
    <Certificates>
    <Certificate name="NameChangedCertificate" storeLocation="LocalMachine" storeName="My" />
    </Certificates>
    </WebRole>
    I followed the directions here (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-configure-ssl-certificate/)
    in Step 3 for deploying the cloud service to the azure portal.  And HTTP worked just fine, but the HTTPS endpoint didn't work, we would get a 502 error whenever we tried to access the service via HTTPS.
    We spent a lot of time to debug and see why HTTPS wasn't working, but everything we tried resulted in the same result:  502 error code when accessing the site
    via HTTPS.
    The only way that we were able to get HTTPS working for the cloud service in azure, was to completely delete our instance in the azure portal, and then do a two step deployment:
    Step 1 - Remove the HTTP endpoint from our ServiceDefinition.csdef, like so:
    <Site name="Web">
    <Bindings>
    <Binding name="HttpsIn"
    </Bindings>
    </Site>
    </Sites>
    <Endpoints>
    <InputEndpoint name="HttpsIn" protocol="https" port="443" certificate="staging" />
    </Endpoints>
    </WebRole>
    We then deployed the service to the azure portal.  AND THE SERVICE WORKED WITH HTTPS!!!
    Step 2 - We added the HTTP endpoint back into the ServiceDefinition.csdef, redeployed and both HTTP and HTTPS worked on the site.
    I wanted to post this to help others that may have the same issue, and to see if anyone else has experienced this same thing?  Is this an issue in the azure 2.2 SDK?  This seems like a work around for getting both HTTP and HTTPS endpoints for a
    cloud service, and it seems "wrong".  Does anyone have a better way to do this?

    Hi Tim;
    This seems to be an very useful workaround thanks for sharing it. Hopefully this will come in handy for many of us.

  • Migration from MBP to MBA: tips on using two machines at once?

    Hi folks,
    Seeking wisdome of the community here. I am retirng a long serving MBP-2010, moving over to a new MBA-2013.
    For lots of reasons, I'm setting up the new Air manually, rather than use Setup Assistant. I'm planning to continue using the Pro as a media player, at home, for emergency backup. The Air will be my main work device. I'm manually migrating my data, and will reinstall software on the Air selectively, as needed, to minimize some of the messiness that slowed down my old unit.
    So here's my question, concen: Are there any concerns, pitfalls, or tricks to using two machines, connected to the same Apple ID, in parallel? Should I uninstall any of the software in the old unit, or disconnect it from my iTunes, or anything else?
    Thanks for any reference, advice, or URLs. I searched the boards, but had no luck finding similar queries.
    All the best, Adam

    No, you can connect many Macs (and IOS devices) to the same AppleID, in fact for iCloud useage, you have to.

  • How do I use Time Machine on my Mac to back up files stored on an AirDisk?

    I have a Macbook Pro 17-inch, Mid 2009, with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I use an external HDD connected directly to my Mac via FireWire 800 for Time Machine backups. I have an external HDD connected to my Airport Extreme (Gigabit) router that I use for file storage. My iTunes library and iPhoto library are both stored on this AirDisk. Can I use Time Machine on my Mac to back up the files that I store on my AirDisk? If so, then please describe how to do so. Thank you for your assistance.

    Unmount and physcially disconnect the TimeMachine drive and reboot the computer without it being connected.
    Reboot the comptuer with the disk inside the machine holding the option or c key down, select the disk to boot from.
    Second screen in is the installer, under the Ulitites menu is Disk Utility.
    Use  Disk Utility to Erase with Security option Zero all Data if your planning to wipe the drive and install 10.6
    Don't do the above if your simply reinstalling only OS X 10.6 to cure a problem with it.
    How to reinstall just OS X or erase/install OS X

  • Can i use exfat format for my external western digital harddrive so that i can use in both windows and mac?

    can i use exfat format for my external western digital harddrive so that i can use in both windows and mac?

    <Email Edited by Host>

    Yes you can. OS X version 10.6.6 and later can read/write exFAT. Windows XP SP3 and later can read/write exFAT. As posted by Radiation Mac, you can do it from Windows or from OS X.
    However, I've noticed Windows to be somewhat picky about drives formatted on a Mac. So, if Windows can't read it, try formatting it on the Windows machine, and see how it works on the Mac.
    Posting your email on a public forum isn't a very good idea. It will likely be harvested by spambots and used as the reply-to address for spam it sends out.
    Also, most people are not going to send an email to you for similar reasons. Nobody knows who you are, so sending an email to you could be giving a spammer a valid email address.

    Yes.
    And will it restore if the hd isn't even there? Like what if it got stolen or destroyed.
    Also yes.
    Directly-connected external drives (ie, USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt) are not backed-up by default.  You must remove them from the exclusion list in Time Machine Preferences > Options to get them backed-up.  (Network drives cannot be backed-up.)
    And they must be formatted for a Mac -- any variation of Mac OS Extended.
    If the drive is connected, you can browse or restore normally -- just go to the folder or document in question and Enter Time Machine.
    If the drive is not connected, it's a bit different.  See #E3 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

    Hi,
    This issue might be due to the invalid .pem certificate file.
    Make sure to include the beginning and end tags on each certificate.
    The result should look like this:

  • Can you use two Time Capsules and back up both with Time Machine.

    My little iMac hard drive (250GB) is quickly filling up with my iTunes library (180GB). I have a 500GB Time Capsule which I use to back up my system via Time Capsule. I would like to move my iTunes library to an external hard drive. If I add the 1TB Time Capsule and use it as my main system back up and wireless router can I use my 500GB Time Capsule as an external drive to locate my iTunes library? Will I be able to back up both my iMac HD and the 500GB Time Capsule to the 1TB Time Capsule using Time Machine or some other method?
    Finally if I can do this can I have both Time Capsules running wireless?

    Could I simply make a copy and move it between the two Time Capsule on a routine basis say every two weeks or month?
    Yes
    I know I will have to "point" or "map" the new location of my iTunes library to the external hard drive/2nd Time Capsule. Once that is done wouldn't Time Machine then just find the location and back it up along with all the data on the iMac hard drive?
    Since this Time Capsule would be connected wirelessly or via Ethernet to your Mac, it would appear as a network drive. Time Machine will not back up data FROM a network drive. Therefore Time Machine will not back up data on this other Time Capsule.

  • Creative Cloud - restricting use of older versions and forcing use of latest versions - NO THANKS!

    I am a long-time customer of Adobe Products.  I have a unique roll as a Graphics management position, while also functioning as our company's IT administrator.  At home, for messing around, sure, creative cloud could be usable,  however, in my fairly demanding work environment, we encounter issues like OSX compatibility, occasionally needing to work from a PC, opening files from 2005, and relying on a specific workflows our business has built on foundations like Distiller PDF workflows etc.  When you force upgrades to newer versions, you dissuade us from being interested in the Creative Cloud platform.  It's really a shame, because small businesses like ours would benefit a lot from a neccesary "subscription"  so the newest adobe products are always available, where otherwise, convincing our company owner that a fairly pricey upgrade is neccesary because of a given set of features.  If the features aren't something the owner sees as a neccesity, there is really no reason for us to upgrade, so we drag things out.  For example, we are still on CS3 right now, and we will be making the jump to CS6 out of neccesity (CS3 will not allow us to edit old pagemaker files that have suddenly become our responsibility without crashing, where the CS6 trial handled it wonderfully).
    The creative cloud is a nice thought that would overcome a lot of 'upgrade' obsticles in the long-term for those of us in the small-business venture, but the version restrictions are too harsh.  In the accounting world there is a general rule that you can expunge data older than 7 years old, but if you get rid of that data before those 7 years are up you often find yourself in trouble.  Software is often the same way when you work with such a wide-array of tools as the adobe creative suite provides.  We essentially end up with what equates to a giant database of images, videos, and other files of misc origin and formats that we need a way to manage.  If we encounter problems (Much like I did recently where CS3 would not open the pagemaker files) and know we can count on another version of that same software (CS6, in this case) to open those same files, then why would you ever want to take those options away from a customer?  We will be paying the same fee regardless of what old versions we use, and while in the scenerio I give, the newer version of the software is the resolution to the problem, there is an equal liklihood of encountering a scenerio where the newer software wont allow me to open a file, but the older version will.
    I just don't understand, what's the harm?  You don't need to "support" those old versions, but they should ALWAYS be available for download and use on systems that can use them, ESPECIALLY in the style of environment you are offering where the old versions won't appeal to everyone, so it won't waste bandwidth or require a tremendous ammount of storage & serving on your part.
    What gives adobe?  I want Creative Cloud to succeed as much as you!  But I need it to work for me!

    Hi Fujilives,
    I copied this from the Creative Cloud FAQ
    Q:I am a Creative Cloud member using the CS6 applications included in my membership. Will I lose access to CS6 when CS7 becomes available in Creative Cloud? A: No, if you have downloaded and installed the CS6 versions of the applications, you will continue to have access to them without interruption as long as your membership remains active. When the CS7 versions become available, you will have up to a year to download and install them and they will run on your machine along with CS6 versions.
    So we are planning to give users access to and the ability to use the versions they started with even after new versions come out (you don't have to upgrade) but it wasn't possible to include access to older versions with the launch of this product (that I'm aware of). But I understand the need for some users to have access to older verisons based on your explanation. I'll pass along your feedback.
    -Dave
