COI Equity Accounting Activities

Hi Guys
I have a question regarding activities available for equity accounting.
There only seem to be two i.e. Net profit and Dividends received. I thought there was a third activity for bonus payments??
Am I wrong?
Cheers

Hi Dan
Thanks for your quick reponse. I do know about this in the Appropriation of earnings but perhaps I should explain better what I am trying to do.
I have an associate. In my location of values I have the following in the Equity Adjustment Holdings
Net Profit
Dividends Received
Other Comprehensive Income
I have also set up the required equity posting entires for the three steps that I have defined above.
When I run COI the activities shown are just two. Net Profit and dividends received. For disclosure requirements I must show the investor company share of:
Net Profit
Dividends Received
Other Comprehensive Income
So I need equity accounting in COI to perform three activities. It performs the first two but not the third. I was almost sure there used to be three equity activities available in the past.
How do you deal with the above because this is an IFRS requirement??

  • Tranfer Balnce from Investment Account to Equity Account

    Hi Gurus,
    1. I have a wrong balance in my Investment Account. I want to transfer it to Equity Account. I post on Entry at Posting Level 10 by Credit Investment Account (Movement Type 125), and Debit Equity Account (Movement Type 139). I get Error in validation for this amount that
"Variance between investment data and totals data"
    Diagnosis:
An entry in the totals database exists for investee unit(s) 082, item 30001038, and subassignments Investee (Company) 0082/ Movement Type 125/ Prof (with balance 951,999.15- USD), but there are no matching entries in the investment data.
Any Suggestion, how to carry out this corrections?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ashwin Nagar

I have a wrong balance in my Investment Account. I want to transfer it to Equity Account.
Sorry, Ashwin. It sounds somewhat strange for me. I do not think, it's a proper decision from the business point of view.
Amount on investment account do not have to be equal to the equity of the acquired company. That's why a goodwill appears.
The error you encountered, most likely, arised because of work of special items.
If, anyway, you want to make such entries, you'd better consider the additional fin data load for either investments or equity.

  • COI Equity method...

Have scenario where A is has invested in 45% in B. It is consolidated under equity method. But both are group companies in the SAP instance and both company financial data is brought to BCS cube…
when I read the equity statement rule … following is mentioned in help.sap.com
‘’ If an investee unit is consolidated using the equity method, then its individual financial statement data is not included in the consolidated financial statements’’
Does this means that we should not consolidated B  in the consolidated financial statement and ignore it in reporting? But company B is also the same SAP system..?
What is the step to be followed in consolidation in this regard...
    Help /Answers  appreciated..

    Hi Venkat,
If we are talking about associated companies (equity method), not about joint ventures (proprtional method), then it's really one-line consolidation.
You don't need all FS from the associated company. And very often one simply doesn't have it.
Actually, there is one entry that should be done in each period for equity method accounted companies:
    Group's or mother company entries:
    Dr Investments in associated companies
Cr Share of profit from associated companies.
In BCS you may do it in two ways:
    1. Handle associated companies as a part of the group, entering for those companies only equity item amounts that trigger automatic recalculation of the Group's net profit (consequitive consolidation).
    2. Do not have those companies in the Group's hierarchy, do not maintain any data input from them. Just make a manual entry I mentioned earlier. In this case you do not need equity method settings. Everything is done manually. Sometimes it's preferred method. You put into the system the figures really provided by the associate, not calculated amount that may not be equal to those figures provided by associate later.

  • Account Team Members and access to Open and Closed Activities

Is there not a way to allow account team members access to view other members on the teams activities?

If you are the owner of the pertinent Account, then for the other users on the Account Team, the Default Access Profile would be applicable, which you should change.
For the Account record type, the access level can be kept as anything (read only, read/edit or read/edit/delete). In the related information for the Account record type, have the access levels of Completed and Open Activities as View.
So, if you add the account team members in the Users section in the Account activities, the activities (appointments/task) would appear in each of the user’s calendars and tasks section.

  • Sequence of Activities & Divestiture

Our 4.0 implementation uses the default COI sequence of activities below:
Seq #     Act.     Activity text                   Stop here
    1     01     First Consolidation
    2     16     Horizontal Merger
3     04     Amortization of Fair Value Adjustments
    4     05     Increase in Capitalization
    5     06     Reduction in Capitalization
    6     07     Step Acquisition
    7     08     Partial Transfer
    8     09     Total Transfer
    9     17     Vertical Merger
    10     10     Partial Divestiture                           X
    11     11     Total Divestiture
    12     12     Liquidation
13     13     Reclassification of Treasury Stock
    14     14     Amortization of Investment
    15     15     Writeup of Investment
    16     02     Subsequent Consolidation
    17     03     Amortization of Goodwill
    18     18     Distribution of Dividends
When we recorded an end-of-period total divestiture (via AFD), the COI log does the following:
    1.     Partial divestiture from 100% to 0% - reversing first consolidation elimination of investment, recording 100% to minority interest balance sheet, and recording gains
    2.     Subsequent consolidation – because ownership is now considered 100% the entire earnings for the period of divestiture is recorded as minority interest
    3.     Total divestiture – reversing first consolidation elimination of equity, reversing minority interest balance sheet from partial divestiture above, and gain for earnings of period of divestiture
What bothers me is that subsequent earnings recoded 100% minority interest. Why would this occur when the divestiture is at the end of the period per the master data? Should the activity sequence number for subsequent consolidation change to a number lower that for partial and total divestiture, but remain after the Stop? If so what are the consequences?
The only other alternative I can think of is to leave the activity sequence alone and record the divestiture at the beginning of the next period.
Any help with this is appreciated.

    Dan,
Been looking at this myself these last few days.  I know conventional wisdom is to not touch the sequence, but I can't see the delivered sequence working correctly (ever) in the case of divestitures if there is activity in the period.  As discussed, perhaps this is what makes people chose the DABP option.
In addition to your case with the M/I due to the subsequent consolidation, if you were to issue a dividend in the period of divestiture that dividend income would be reclassed to minority interest as well.
My solution on the dividends to was to bring the activity above the partial transfer step, with the reasoning that in the event of a transfer you would be dividending to the old parent, not the new parent.  Testing so far of our likely C/I activites seems to work with the sequence as desired.
For the subsequent consolidation I'm also having issues that we've PL30 topsided around, but I wouldn't want to do that in a transfer because of the income statement adjustments that would be necessary and the statistical account impact.  In a future total divestiture activity, the gain/lose would be incorrectly calculated unless I got those statistical balances spot on to agree with the manual PL30.
I suspect the subsequent consolidation should be after the total transfer or vertical merger, with the reasoning that this activity should be performed in the new parent (err...cons group) in this case.  Haven't had a chance to test all our likely activities with this scenario, but will probably need a solution real soon.
I'm familiar w/ this note on the topic, wihch is essentially the help.sap.com documentation in a little more technical detail:
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/698955
But I'm not aware of any other documentation on the subject.
Finally....I remember when I took the SEM240 class a while ago they harped on not touching the default sequence, but those of us in the room with a live implementation had all changed from the default sequence.
Anyway...I don't really have a question or helpful info.  Just surprised there's nothing more on the topic.

  • Reparenting - of equity consolidated units upward in hierarchy

    Hi experts,
We're doing reparenting of a cons unit (upward in a hierarchy) : The scenario is explained as under:
There are two hierarchies in a single version. The consolidation units falling under both hierarchies are same. Difference being - H1 is a flat hierarchy with parent A and all other as subsidiaries (100% owned and purchase method consolidated)
H2: Has multiple levels (conso groups) with overall parent A. All other companies are equity consolidated (ofcourse parents in each group is assigned purchase method, ownership is again 100% of all units)
In H2: we're doing a reparenting. From a lower conso group(cons group CGB with parent B) a unit(unit C) is moving to the top conso group(cons group CGA with parent A). The master data changes in both conso groups have been made(period/yr of divestiture and period/yr of acquisition set in the sender group and receiver group respectively; added the cons unit C in CGA group).
The organizational change logic is being used.
After the conso group change task and COI task are run, in the report there is a difference in the equity PY surplus at level A - overall parent) in both hierarchies.
There are two equity pickups - A/c1 and A/c2
The opening balances on these accounts are getting reversed in the divestiture period in old parent.
Whereas the PY - RE(Previous year - Retained earnings) account is not getting reversed (in itself) but the balance is being posted to COI:Clearing item (COI clearing item defined in COI settings->Appropriation of retained earnings -> Net income tab)
    1. The client doesnt want PY equity surplus to change. In H1 , it is not changing (not reversing) whereas, in H2 it is reversing in the same accounts - balancing to zero.
    2. They'd ideally want the PY surplus to goto the COI clearing.
They'd like the system to do this entry and not fix this by doing a manual PL30 journal.
Can you tell me if there is anything in the configuration of COI that can fix this issue?
Why is the system behaving differently for A/c1 (and A/c2)and PY - RE account?
Another thing, when I look at the COI documents posted in the H2 hierarchy, I see the A/c1 and A/c2 (scopes of data for equity method) as double the amount in the new cons group (equity holdings data) whereas in the H1 (where only a total transfer doc is posted) I see the accounts (as part of equity data) with the actual value.
    Thanks, AJ

    Thanks Dan.
Appreciate if you can help on the below points as well.
    1. As part of divestiture/transfer postings: The system is reversing some Previous Year(PY) equity accounts into themselves. How can we get the system to eliminate them by posting to COI Clearing account. Basically, we dont want the PY accounts to be touched?
For the Retained earnings - PY account, the system is actually posting to COI clearing account.
These PY accounts are part of some scopes for equitization.
Is there any link between the "balance carry forward" - list of items table and the divestiture postings?
Does the system check this table while posting/reversing the equity(PY) accounts?
    2. I want to understand the sequence in which the system posts the documents at the old parent and new parent (group) level.
The same activity number is there  for Total Divestiture, total transfer documents posted at new parent level and total divestiture document posted at old parent level.
Does the system follow bottom up approach? Thereby creating total divestiture document at old parent level.
Followed by documents at upper level (new parent level)
Also , at the upper level(new parent level), does it post documents in the way they are shown in the log? (We havent changed the default sequence maintained in UCWB - COI settings). so it will post first consolidation doc, followed by total divestiture, followed by total transfer docs at the new parent level?
Is this the reason for the double value being posted at new parent for equity holding data?
Will studying the statistical items (corresponding to eliminated equity holding items) be relevant here to understand why at upper level there is double the value being posted by system?
    Thanks.

  • Total transfer of equity consolidated unit using organizational change

    Hi,
We have a scenario where we are doing total transfer of an equity consolidated unit (100% owned) from one company(old parent) to another (new parent)
The new parent is one level above the old parent in the hierarchy.
We've used organizational change logic and have set the divestiture dates/flag in the sender consolidation group and accordingly first consolidation dates/flag/OC number in the receiver consolidation group.
The investment AFD is submitted with "total transfer" with OC number.
There are multiple scopes of reported data for equity method in our configuration.
Each scope(equity pickup) is inturn created by reclassifying several equity accounts to a single BCS only item(the scope item)
When we run COI, the system posts one total divestiture document at the old conso group (where old parent is situtated) and posts a first consolidation, total divestiture, total transfer documents  at the new conso group level (which is one level above the sender conso group)
The total divestiture document at upper level is reversing the divestiture document posted at old parent.
The first consolidation document jas only statistical items posted in it.
The real document to check is the "Totals transfer document" which actually reads the investment (at old parent and new parent) , the equity holdings adjustment data(the scope items) and adjusts the investment in subs at new parent with offset going to divestiture account but of double the value than the expected scope vlaue.
    Issues faced:
Q1. Consolidation group change tasks (at PL02, 12, 22) are not posting any documents. Is there an issue? Since I am using these tasks for the first time and dont know if this is possible.
Q2. The total transfer document is reading the equity holdings data as double the expected value( for each of the scopes of equity method). What could be the possible reason? How to fix this?
Q3. I would appreciate if someone can clarify what kind of postings the system makes as part of divestiture/transfer in case of equity consolidated unit transfer.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    AJ

  • Error in Posting Payroll to Accounting

    Dear HR Gurus,
While posting the current month payroll for posting I get the following for some perdonnel numbers.
Account with the following search key was not found: 1000HRF3100
Required field GL_ACCOUNT was not transferred in parameter ACCOUNTGL
Due to this posting is marked as incorrect and we can't proceed further. It's only happening for 2-3 employees.
Your help will be highly appreciated.

    Dear Ramu,
As you can see I posted the same question a few days ago and was encountering the same problem. I did some R&D along with a colleague and we nailed the problem down.
In my case wrong symbolic account was assigned to wage type.
Just follow my steps and you should be able to solve it.
    1)     Go to SPRO  Payroll  Payroll International (or choose if you have country specific) Reporting for Posting Payroll Results to Accounting  Activities in HR System
    2)     Click on maintain wage types and then Define Posting Characteristics of Wage Types.
    3)     Here you will see many wage types starting from u201C/u201D
    4)     One by one start checking Account Symbol assignment against each wage type and search for a wage type with account assignment symbol as 3100
    5)     Most probably it would be wage type /563 Claim from prev. period but thatu2019s not necessary change 3100 to your configured account symbol and transport request to production.
Please award points if you find this helpful.

  • SAP HR Technical Accounts related to payroll posting.

    Hi experts,
I have a doubt in Assign Technical Accounts related to payroll posting.
Menu Path IMG -> Payroll SG -> Reporting for Posting Payroll Results to Accounting -> Activities in the AC System -> Assigning Accounts -> Assign Technical Accounts
    Account key    Account (GL)
    1001               1307090
    *1307090 Clearing Account.
    My doubts are
u2022     If I am maintaining a GL account as clearing account, is it applicable for the entire wage types across company codes?(As this config is not based on Co code, but based on Chart of accounts)
u2022     Where these account keys we will be assigned in HR side to wage types / no need to assign?
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hi,
My issue is not solved yet.
I have tried that option now documents are splitting and there is no error in document creation, but now its a different  issue  of amt in that GL acc.
My scenario is we are creating a new company code.So group of employees I need to move from one company to another.
But their previous month claim needs to be posted in the old cost centre.
Means when I am running Jan payroll (period 1), December claims which is created in Jan should processed and two documents has to be created. u2013Its is done now.-No issues.
But now the new GL code (not assigned to any symbolic account) which is assigned for splitting ,in  the technical account is not displaying in the posting document.
Example:-IT0015 record with origin as 15.Dec.2010, but created in Jan..
In my document it is taking as
GL related to wage type u201C/552 Stat.net post u201C- as debit in period 1 Jan document .
    and
GL related to wage type   u201C9xxx- staff out patient claimu201D u2013as debit in period 13 Dec document .
Now question is what is the relevance of the GL given in the technical accounts, as nothing is posted in to that account?

  • Account assignment problem

A question just for my information: when creating shopping cart -  go to details and then go to cost assignment.
In the project I am doing, if we enter Asset and assign it to a g/l account and then go into the details, the client wants the Internal Order number to be displayed in the details according to the asset number entered in the cost assignment area.
we have currently set the cost assignment for Asset to also include the internal order number in the details section.  This can be set up in EBP configuration with minimal effort.
When assigning an asset as the cost assignment, we can access the I/O of the asset by clicking on details in EBP
As per our configuration the I/O is a read/write field in the account assignment.  EBP merely reflects what is set in R/3, as R/3 is its system for financials.  As I/O is a changeable field in R/3, it appears as a changeable field in EBP.  We cannot make this field a display only field in EBP in configuration.  We either need to write custom code to leverage the BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI (which checks the shopping cart and can issue an error message for changed I/Os), or we write custom code to grey out the follow on fields for cost assignment objects. (Please let me know if I am right on this account)
What is configured in EBP is essentially 2 cost assignment objects combined, in order to provide access to I/O when ordering an asset.
EBP cannot be configured to display the I/O as part of the fixed asset.  This will require custom code.  We have set I/O to display only in R/3, still we get the internal order fiels as change and not display.
    Can anyone help

    Hi,
System is asking alternative cost center for your company code.
Please create the a new cost center, then assign to your company code in the table of TKA3G.
    Or else go to path:
Payroll-> Payroll Singapore ->Posting to financial accounting->Activities in the AC-System->Set up fixed cost postings and substitute cost centers->Set up substitute cost centers .

  • HR Payroll - Symbolic Accounts - G/L Accounts - FI

    Hello,
how these 4 are related and what is the process in which wages are posted from payroll to FI department ?
    TIA

    Hello,
After running payroll, amont other transactions you execute PCP0 which updates the FI side based on the wage types generated by the Payroll, It uses the mapping of wage types to symbolic accounts to G/L accounts to
determine the correct G/L account/cost element to use.
Please refer to this document where you will find the whole process very well explained: http://www.integratedcg.com/pdfs/FI2003.pdf
If you want to see the customizing involved, please check the following in SPRO: Payroll - your country - Posting to financial accounting - Activities in the HR system
I also recommend you executing this report in your system: PC00_M99_DKON, it will show you the mapping between WTs - Symbolic account - G/L account
I hope that helps, please let me know if this answer your question
    Best regards,
    Federico

    here we go:
Payroll > Payroll: your country > Posting to Financial Accounting > Activities in the HR-System > Employee grouping and symbolic accounts > Define symbolic accounts

  • HR: POSTINGS TO FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

Below is the menupath for HR postings to FI. I want to understand where are they linked to FI. How can I see the G/L accounts these symbolic accounts are linked to.
SPRO -- Payroll -- Payroll USA -- Posting to Financial Accounting -- Activities in HR
    System -- Define Symbolic Accounts
    Thanks

Each of the field symbol would be assigned to GL account. You will find this  mapping the payroll img itself
Payroll -- Payroll USA -- Posting to Financial Accounting -- activities in AC system
    -Account assignment
Click on the Assign financial accounts
then click on the Accounts  to see the mapping of sumbolicaccounts to GL account.

  • How do I contact someone about an account issue

I don't need product support.  I need support with my account.
    I received an email stating:
"Recently, there's been activity in your AppIe account that seems unusual compared to your normal account activities. Please log in to AppIe to confirm your identity and update card information. We're concerned that someone is using your AppIe account without your knowledge. Recent activity from your account seems to have occurred from a suspicious location or under circumstances that may be different than usual. "
It tells me click on a link in the email.
I have not changed anything on my account, so if something really changed, there is a problem.
However, I'm reluctant to click on the link, thinking it might be a phishing scheme or cause some problem with my computer.
On the Apple site, I cannot find one link to contact support having to do with problems with an account.
Does anyone know if the email is legit?  If not, who can I inform about this?  If it is legit, how can I contact support without clicking on the link in the email?
II can't even find a community that deals with issues like this o send this to.

this is a phishing attempt - do NOT click on ANYTHING
if you would care to help out Apple's efforts in combating these nefarious creatures, FORWARD the email to [email protected]
