Collisisons in a MSA CRM 4 SP8 - CRM 7 SP4 upgrade

Hello everybody,
I have run the MAR Upgrade tool CRM 7.0 SP4 on a CRM MSA 4.0 SP8 landscape. In total 11 Change Lists have been imported. Each change list caused approximately 1000 collisions which is in total 11000 collisions. I am a bit surprised by that amount of collisions. Does anyone have the experience if so many collisions are normal and that it is worthwhile to proceed?
Some other questions:
- can it be that the CMT changelist is also a reason for collisions of the later imported SAP CLs?
- does each of the 11 CLs run into the same collision, e.g. if we have changed a SAP owned object that each of the 11 CL runs here into a collision, which would mean that we have actually only ca. 1000 collisions to resolve instead of 11000?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Raquel

Thanks for your help Shankar,
Finally we have realized that the result: 11917 collisions, was not the number of the non-resolved collisions.
If you perform the following SQL statement on ARS_DB, you can get an overview about the collisions:
select state, count(*) from collision group by state
state 0 means non-resolved collisions
state 2 means resolved collisions
In fact, we only have 67 in state 0.

  • Order of steps in CRM Mobile Sales 7.0 SP4 Upgrade

    Hi,
Since I read the upgrade guide I am not really sure anymore about the right order of step when performing the upgrade (form 4.0 SP6 to 7.0 SP4):
(OS and Office version are up to the prerequesites)
    0. Back up all ARS databases (dev, test, production)
    1. Run Baseline Comparison tool: Is that recommended to do?
    2. Upgrade SQL Server form 2000 to 2005 SP1 or SP2 with attach, detach and run the SQL script provided by SAP
2a. Install .net 2.0, Java VM 1.5.0_16 and Java Dev Kit (MAR and WB are on the same machine)
    2b. Install Visual Studio (VBasic) 2005 SP00
    3. Run Code Migration (only on DEV, it will create a change list which can be transported to the other systems, correct?)
    4. Run MAR Upgrade tool
    5. Upgrade MRS tools and services
The points I am really unsure is, when to upgrade SQL Server from 2000 to 2005 and when to install Visual Studio.
Could someone please feedback if all the steps are in the right order?
    Whity

Hi everybody confronted with 4.0 to 7.0 SP4 upgrade of MSA,
I have done sich upgrade and here is the list of steps and the order of them:
Pre-upgrade: (check the current system works fine):
    1. Confirm the SAP services (MAR Central, TA) are working fine
    2. Confirm the Transport Process among DEV, QA and PRD is also working fine
    3. Full generation of all apps
    Pre-upgrade:
    4. Baseline comparison in order to ensure all repos are in synch
    5. Backup ars_db and ides
    Upgrade steps:
    6. Check software versions
    7. Install Visual Studio 2005 SP00
    8. Stop TA but not MAR Central Service
    9. Install and run CMT (it will display thousands of collisions, we had 11270 but most of them were solved by the system, finally we had 67 collisisons to resolve manually)
    10. Start TA and release CMT changelist and transport to CRM Server
    11. Backup ars_db
    12. CMT deinstallation
    13. SQL Server upgrade from 2000 to 2005
    14. Stop and uninstall TA. If TA is not being uninstalled there will be problems to uninstall but it can still be done via DOS command
    15. Upgrade the MAR
16: Unistall the MAR upgrade tool
    17. Install Java VM and SDK
    18. Upgrade MDW (run on upgrade CD)
    19. Resolve collisions (document the work!)
    20. After CRM Online was upgraded do a BDoc synch (until this step, MAR, MDW upgrade run independently)
    21. Generate Metadata and table scripts on Ides in ClientConsole
    22. Do a full non incremental generation
    23. Run the application (MSA, MSC, etc.)
    Possible issues:
    1. I had many errors during compilation (not generation, that worked fine). Some of the errors were resolved by ensuring that all objects were generated. This did not happen at the first generation. Other errors came from collision resolution. This is a bit more tricky but keep in mind NO MAJOR CODE CHANGE was required to resolve them. Probably date conversion issues will pop up which can be resolved by "fromadate" / "toadate"...
    2. I had issues with the backed up Ides. Finally I had to restore an empty 7.0 standard SAP Ides and ran the Metadata and table scripts on this Ides. Then I connected and did an extract. This worked fine.
This is it in a nutshell. I hope it will help anybody with an upgrade!

  • Extract data from CRM 2007 (CRM 6.0)

    Hi all,
When BW-ekstraktion, g.e. 0BPARTNER_ATTR, we will get infopackage error:
8 when starting the extraction program
The problem is in SAP CRM 2007. This system has been setup as (transaction kode CRMC_REPO_OPT) "BP BI AND INTERACTIVE REPORTING" as activeted.
In Transaction kode SBIW "Control parameters for data transfer from the souce system" the field "Target system for background job" has value CRMCLNT150 (BW INTERACTIVE REPORTING client in the CRM 2007 system). This is done for getting the CRM 2007 "CRM Interactive Reporting" to work.
"Target system for background job" must be empty (Note 147104) else can't SAP BW get any data.
We need to get both "CRM Interactive Reporting" and BW data loads to work. Has any one got "luck" with data load to BI 7.0 and CRM INTERACTIVE REPORTING (CRM 2007) running at the same time ?
    (OSS has been created)
    best regards
    René

Why do you need to copy it? The data is easily available from R/3 via RFC.

  • CRM IC 4.0 - Upgrade to CRM 7.0 - Level of rework that will be required?

I have posted a question in CRM upgrade forum and I thought will have it posted in CRM IC forums to see if there would be response.
CRM IC 4.0 - Upgrade to CRM 7.0
    Thanks,

    Hello Jayant,
Good question. I've written about this in my SAP Pressbook, "Maximizing Your SAP CRM Interaction Center". The short answer is that you will need to rewrite all of your custom ZBSP pages (assuming that they are still needed based on some of the new features and capabilities availabl ein RM 7.0) due to architecture changes. You will also need to re-do some of your customizing as well (e.g., NavBar, Scripts, etc.).
The biggest change is that you might experience in the BOL layer is, however, the complete BOL support of all CRM objects including all sub objects, relations and attributes. So the enhancements that you have done in your 4.0 project might not even be necessary anymore unless you've introduced completely new objects. Also fields you added via EEW will be available in the respective BOL objects without manual code effort.
On the UI layer itself you have to be aware that even though the whole CRM 7.0 UI is based on the same UI framework as CRM 4.0 IC WebClient, this framweork has been significantly enhanced and supports now also concepts as components (to organize, structure and manage different areas of the CRM application), reuse via components and windows etc. Also there are two new sets of tags: THTMLB (Low level UI controls such as input fields, tables and trees) and CHTMLB. The latter one contains eta tags for configuable views that allow the adjustment of views via the configuration tool, which allows defining fields and arrangement on a form or a table as well as re-labelling.
Also the toolset in general has been heavily enhanced and there's also the concept of modification-free enhancements on the UI layer based on inheritance. The upgrade will be "technical" meaning that all your stuff will survive but due to the componentization of the UI framework will not run out of the box in the new environment. You will have to "re-do" investments you've done on the UI side - however this should be much easier compared to 4.0 due to configurability of the UI and the improved toolset.
Although SAP provides an upgrade path from earlier releases of CRM to new CRM 2006s/CRM 2007, there is no upgrade path for the Interaction Center. Even if you are already using the IC WebClient in CRM 2005, much of your IMG configuration settings and related customizing and objects will need to be reimplemented. This is partially due to technical changes that were introduced to allow the rest of CRM to run on the IC WebClient architecture. Some examples of affected areas include:
    - Interactive Scripting (scripts must be manually recreated in the Interactive Script Editor due to incompatibilities)
    - Navigation Bar configuration (a new configuration concept was introduced and customizing for the navigation bar needs to be redone in transaction CRMC_UI_NBLINKS)
    - Launch Transactions (a new configuration concept was introduced and launch transactions must be regenerated in transaction CRMC_UI_ACTIONWZ)
    - Alerts (alerts must be recreated using the new Alert Editor tool available in the IC Manager CRM business role)
    - Mail Forms (mail forms must be recreated in new HTML-based Mail Form tool available in the IC Manager CRM business role)
    - Activity Clipboard (customizing for the activity clipboard needs to be maintained in the new view cluster CRMC_UI_CLIP)
    - IC WebClient Profiles (the IC WebClient Profile concept was replaced by the CRM business role concept and is now maintained in transaction CRMC_UI_PROFILE).

  • CRM IC 4.0 - Upgrade to CRM 7.0

    Hello All,
I am trying to understand the complexity and nature/skillset of work that would be involved when it comes to upgrading CRM Interaction Centre from 4.0 to 7.0.I would expect the look of the screen to be same or as close to original as it can be i.e. as rendered by our current Z BSP application that we have, used by the call center employees.
Can anyone run me through at a very high level the sequence of activity that will be carried out to have in place in CRM 7.0 the functionality of the Z BSP app that we have? Will CRM 7.0 have the Z BSP application post upgrade or is it case of reworking the entire app?The Z BSP application is the only one used with lot of changes to standard SAP classes.
I was just able to spot one similar query in SDN.
How to handle IC during the upgrade to CRM7.0?

  • Creation of MSA Sandbox for migation from CRM MSA 40 to CRM MSA 70

    Hello community,
We are planing an upgrade from CRM MSA CP  4.0 SP 08 to CRM MSA CP 7.0.
As we know that one of the biggest issues is the code migration, we want to setup a sandbox system.
The idea is to install a repository server and a MDW in 7.0, then put the 4.0 repository backup to the 7.0 repository server and
start the CMT (code migration tool). We have installed the landscape already, but if we want to install the CMT wer ge the message, that the MDW ist not installed on the machine.
The question that we have , is our plan ok, or do we need to install a 4.0 repoitory server and make the update of the repository server later on ?
As i cannot find a proper description for the steps i want to ask you, what steps are correct ?
If anyone made some experience already, it would be great if you could share them.
    Thank you very much
    Frank

    Hello
You are mistaken. CMT should be run only from 4.0 MDW machine, this tool can not be run from 7.0 MDW machine.
Please refer to the note 1087949 for the issue mentioned.

  • Upgrade from CRM 6.0 to CRM 7.0 without upgrading MSA

    Hi all,
we are currently running CRM 6.0 with the Mobile Client for a field sales group of 2000 users and we have some plans to move to the latest release being CRM 7.0. As upgrading MSA for 2000 users is extensive task we would like to know if it is possible to upgrade the backend to 7.0, but without upgrading the MSA to 7.0. Is there a way with some cheats and tricks to manipulate some tables in order to make it work with a CRM 7.0 backend system ?
    Thanks,
    Christophe

    Hi Christophe,
We do not support the landscape which you are planning to move into. This sceanrio is not validated either.
    Refer to SAP Notes
1226055 - SAP CRM 7.0 Mobile Client Component: Collective Note
1095553 - SAP CRM 2007 Mobile Client Component: Collective Note
These Notes give you information on Client-Server mapping which is officially supported by SAP.

  • What data type do I use in MSA to handle CRM DEC data?

    Dear Geeks,
We have a customer field 'ZZ_SUPPORT' on CRM (40 SP11) opportunities, which we flow
down to mobile sales. It previously carried a NUMC2 value (a number
from 1 - 99), and this worked fine... the data flowed fine in both
directions. The data element ZZ_SUPPORT used in CRM is based on a newly
created data domain called Z1_TO_99 and this was defined as data type NUMC
(2 characters), which we have changed to DEC (4 characters, and decimal
places 2, and screen display5). Having made this change and also
changed the screen layout in SE51, the field now looks good and takes
a value like '12.34' without error. We can also see the '12.34' value
being carried in the Opp_Write Bdoc in SMW01 classic segment. However, the BDoc does not migrate
successfully to Mobile - the ZZ_Support value is lost. In Mobile, I
have genereted the Tables associated with Opportunity_write, and also
the BDoc, and I have also changed the BOOPPORTUNITY / Y_Support field
(which carries the value) from NUMC2 to String5. I have also tried Long5, and currency4
because there is no data type "DEC" available in Mobile. When I send
opportunity messages up from Mobile to CRM, I see them going into SMQ2
and then they dissappear because the Function module cannot handle the
BDoc. What is the problem? Is it the function module? or the data type
used on Mobile - if so what should I use in the absense of "DEC"?
    Richard

Sounds like a strange issue indeed. I would call Johnny Nobles.
    Tx: Smoggen ?
Sorry, can't come up with better ideas.
    Cheers,
    Seb.

  • Sales orders, vendor determination in SAP CRM vs CRM E-Commerce?

    Hello,
We are creating Sales Order through SAP CRM E-Commerce B2B scenario.
We noticed that vendor is determined at header level but not at item.
If we create a Sales Order in SAP UI (tx: CRMD_BUS2000115) (same transaction type used by B2B) with the same data Vendor is determined at header and at item.
    Any idea?

    Hello Folks,
I Have many years implementing IBM Net.Commerce and Websphere Commerce Suite, and 3 years with SAP CRM. What I can tell you:
IBM Sol. has less tables than SAP. It´s much easier to extend the Database.
In terms of catalog management IBM Solution, it´s not good. There´s a web interface do administer it. Very hard. There´s the option to use the massimport utiity. Same thing as Batch input of SAP.
Integration to third party solutions for IBM product, it´s hard. Have to use WBI, or decompile java kernel. For SAP is easier, depending of what you need.
Both solutions work with B2B and B2C, plus IBM working with dutch, reverse and normal auctions.
IBM can work with mobile but you need to acquire the everyplace solution suite. SAP CRM can work with integration for handhelds, naturally, just configure it.
Now the point where it´s very hard really: Taxes and deliveries. SAP has localization for almost every countries around the world. IBM just works fine for USA and Canadá.
For the pricing procedure, SAP, indeed is much better.
Conection with third party delivery companies, like Fedex, UPS or DHL, both don´t have it. Including taxes, except IBM for USA and Canadá, how told you before.
For materials, SAP has a much better implementation, to work with products, itens, services, and so on. IBM has infinite number co categorize a product, and products can have a limited number of attributes. For example a blue and pink pant. Color is an attribute for sap.
For user, IBM has something named non stop shop, where is possible to buy something without a full registration. In SAP, yu have to register entirely.
About visual Design, for both you must respect the JSP, or BSP, in front-end, for IBM and SAP solutions. Don´t leave it on hand of the webdesigner.
The learning curve for learning both are long.
Well there are the points... If you need something else, contact me.
    regards,
    Luiz David

  • SAP ISU BP Contact - CRM Activity - CRM IC Interaction record

    Hi   All -
I have a cookbook which talks about migrating SAP ISU BP Contacts into CRM Activity.
Now, my question is if I do this, will this show up as a interaction record against the customer in the IC WebClient in CRM?
We are considering a design where billing supervisors will enter a BP Contact in ISU when customers directly call them about a bill.  Later, if this customer calls the Cust Service Rep, we want this interaction to be visible to the CSR who will only use the CRM Webclient.
So, I guess indirectly my question is,
"Is a CRM Activity the same as an CRM WebClient Interaction record"?
    or
"Is a CRM WebClient Interaction record a type of CRM Activity"?
Thanks in advance for taking your time to answer this.
    Regards,
    Pradhip.S

    Hello Pradhip,
the CRM IC Interaction Record is technically a CRM Activity with a certain transaction type. You can configure the replication of IS-U Contacts that the created activity is shown in the Interaction Center as Interaction Record. So you will be able to see the IS-U Contacts created in ERP - for example within a Front Office Process - in CRM as replicated Interaction Records.
    Kind regards,
    Christian

  • Attachments appear missing in CRM 7.0 after Upgrade from 6.0

We use CRM for SSMS functionality to create help desk tickets which can have documents attached to them which are stored in and retrieved from content server.
All was well in the land of CRM 6.0.
Since the upgrade to CRM 7.0, when viewing an SSMS ticket, the link to an attachment does not appear on the screen.  Also, a new attachment can not be created.
I am looking for help related to this from a couple different viewpoints.
    a) Has anyone experienced something like this and if so, what was the resolution or what have you learned so far.
    b) In our ERP system, we use transactions like CV04N to search for document information records and subsequently view the documents the DIRs are linke to in our content server.  CRM does not have a CV04N transaction.  Is there an equivalent / similar transaction or program in CRM that I can use to view DIRs and even display a document from our content server via CRM?
    James

For the issue that the "Create attachment from template" is grayed out in an upgraded CRM system, the templates will need to be recreated in the new environment.
Login to CRM WebClient as the standard salespro role
Navigate to Sales Operations -> Document Templates
Click New and recreate all of the templates used in the previous version
After this is done, the create attachment from template link will be enabled.
In CRM, when you add attachments through the regular "attachment" link, there is a section that allows you to browse the content management server and all the documents.  You should check if all the previous documents are still there.

If you are aspiring to Oracle DBA OCP be very sure the institute you are choosing satisifies the requirements for the Hands on Course, and do not take the institutes word for it but check.
It may well be that you are looking for institutions offering the WDP programme. This is a maximm of 6 hours/week over several weeks so IMHO is impractical if you do not live nearby. There appear to be comments that sometimes the training from these institutes doing the WDP course can be of very variable quality. Probably the only option here is to seek out the opinions of recent psat students you can trust.

    Hi All
Implementing CRM 2007 and integrating groupware mainly outlook. When i synchronize from outlook to CRM is giving error "Synchronization could not be executed due to error during data retrieval from CRM" but i am able to synchronize Appointments, Tasks.I would like to know why this error coming and how to get rid of these.
Secondly all appointments and tasks are synchronized on client based settings which is why i need to synchronize every time i create or change them. How do i make server based synchrononization where i dont have to synch every time.
And also the contacts iam able to synch Contacts to outlook public folder but as per my scenario i want to synch them to a private folder to Outlook....is there any special setting required for contacts ????.
Any help on this is much appriciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sama

    Hello,
Server-side groupware integration is certainly more robust, stable and configurable. However, setting up the s-s groupware integration is a small project on it's own, especially in a large company.
"Synchronization could not be executed due to error during data retrieval from CRM" this error is mostly related to an incorrect address in the outlook sap calendar configuration screen. Check, in Outlook, Tools->Options->SAP Calendar-->Configuration
Check if the SAP CRM server address AND port are correct, if you don't specify HTTP or HTTPS in front of the address SAP will prefix it with HTTPS so make sure the port number is correct for HTTP or HTTPS. (you can get the port numbers for HTTP/s in transaction SMICM-->Services)
For client-side GWI there is one place where you can customize some settings but they are all defaulted so it should work out of the box, even for contact persons. Check in SPRO>CRM>CRM Middleware and related components-->Settings for client-based synchronization.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind regards,
    Joost
