Color change when exported

Using Lr4.1 on PC w/ win7pro laptop with external NEC multisync mmonitor-calibrated,  I've taken Raws made LR adjustments, then imported 3-10 images into photoshop layers for masking, merges, few if any color changes.  Then save as all layers as a psd, then flatten the psd and save as a tiff.  When I open in LR for any other minor tweaks, sharpening, dust spots, and do an export into SRGB or Adobe rgb, the colors are terrible.  Look nothing like what I see in LR.  I've heard people have minimal issues, but I am having major changes,  many times the collors will become dull and flat or very saturated when viewed.  As an architectural photographer I need these colors close to what I took.   If I edit in CR into PS I don't have this problem.  I assume its related to the prophoto RGB color changing, but I really don't know what's going on with the color space.  The color will appear different from my laptop monitor to the NEC by a lot which I understand a pro monitor will show more colors, but the color space shift is making a lot of work done in LR useless if I have to redo it all in CR.  How can I get LR to export the colors I see in LR into a srgb jpg and Adobe tiff?
Thanks

Lots of steps here:
"Using Lr4.1 on PC w/ win7pro laptop with external NEC multisync mmonitor-calibrated,  I've taken Raws made LR adjustments, then imported 3-10 images into photoshop layers for masking, merges, few if any color changes."
How do you get them into PS?  What do you mean by "imported 3-10 images into photoshop"?  Do you mean you use "Edit in.." from LR, and choose "Open as layers in Photoshop..."?
"Then save as all layers as a psd, then flatten the psd and save as a tiff."
How does it look in PS?
"When I open in LR for any other minor tweaks, sharpening, dust spots"
How do you open in LR?  The normal process, after "Edit in..." is that you save in PS, and the image is automatically stacked in LR against the original (or one of the originals, if you open several by "Open as layers in Photoshop...").  How does it look now?
"and do an export into SRGB or Adobe rgb, the colors are terrible.  Look nothing like what I see in LR."
Only now they look terrible?  They looked OK in LR originally, OK in PS, OK when back in LR, but when you export they look bad - is that right?  And as Victoria says, how are you viewing the exported images?
"I assume its related to the prophoto RGB color changing, but I really don't know what's going on with the color space."
It certainly shouldn't be due to colour space changing.  The whole point of colour management is that it deals with this.
Final points:  you say your monitor is calibrated.  You do mean calibrated and profiled with a hardware instrument (Spyder, Colormunki etc)?
And, color settings in Photoshop, they should look something like this:
Choice of working space should be ProPhoto RGB, Adobe RGB or sRGB, but not a monitor or printer profile.  Policies should all be "Preserve" and I recommend all the "Ask When" boxed be checked (so you are warned of mismatches).

  • Why does text color change when exporting to PDF?

I have a white background.  In a textbox, I have black text and white text.  When I export to a PDF, the black text stays black but the white text changes to black.  Any idea why that happens?
I have a similar situation with shapes.  I have a black circle and a textbox on top of it.  There is white text in the textbox.  When I export, the white text here also changes to black.  So you can't see it in the PDF (becuase of the black circle).

I do not get the problem.
All text stays the correct color. Black is black and white is white in the pdf.
Are you opening this on a Mac in Preview, or are you opening it in Adobe Acrobat?
I have opened my .pdf (it would have helped if you had posted your problem pdf) in Acrobat on a Mac and that also has opened correctly.
I tried both exporting and printing to .pdf both work in Preview and in Acrobat.
Are you doing something else you have not told us about?

  • Color changes when exporting to PDF from Apple Pages or Word

When I export to PDF from Apple Pages or Microsoft Word, there is a noticable color shift.
The RGB color values that are 23, 76, 140 in Pages for a medium shade of blue like this but appear as 50, 61, 134 with a decidedly purple cast like this in the PDF.
Has anybody else run into this problem?  Any tips for troubleshooting?

Thanks for the reply.  It was created using Apple Pages. I tried exporting to PDF in two different ways, both with the same result.
    1. Within Apple Pages, one can click File > Export > PDF
    2. The other option is to click Print > PDF > Save as PDF
I also tried this second method with Microsoft Word, and again the color was altered.  Any suggestions that you can provide to resolve this issue will be very helpful.

  • Color changes when exporting

    Hello everyone,
Im having a little issue when im exporting. It is not giving me the right color, Ive already searched but ive found nothing. Ive already tried to export in each and every format and codec and the result seems to be the same.
As you see in the screenshot it is already different even before exporting.
All comments and suggestions are welcome! Please I really need help.
    Cheers.

still dont know what to do.
There's really nothing you can do to make sure your viewers see the project exactly as you intended.  Besides the player used, there's also the proper calibration of the monitor, and even the capabilities of the monitor -  all of which are out of your control.
All you can do is produce the best video you can.  It's up to each viewer to decide if they want to see it correctly, and take the necessary steps to do so.
    Most won't.

  • Colors change when exporting to jpg file

I'm a web designer and use Fireworks CS5 extensively. In the last week, I've had 2 artists indicate that an exported jpg image that I created for their websites does not look the same as the original. In one case, aqua colors were darkened to a grey/blue. In another case, the exported image just looks darker than the original. In both cases, I started with a jpg file that the artist sent me.
I've tried eliminating the compression by setting it to 100. I've tried using the export wizard, the regular export function, and the save as function. In the export wizard, I've unchecked the Sharpen Color Edges and Remove Unused Colors checkboxes. The created images all look the same yet different than the originals. As an expeiment, I created new jpg images using Paint Shop Pro and the exported file looks exactly like the original.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Along the same lines as Linda's suggestion: Take a look at the color profile of the image sent to you by the artist before you work on it. If it's anything other than sRGB, convert it. If you're on a Mac, you can use the Info panel (Command-I) to quickly check for a color profile on a graphic; otherwise, you can fire up Photoshop and use its Info panel. To convert the color profile within Photoshop, use Edit > Convert to Profile, which will preserve the image appearance but attach a different ICC profile.
Fireworks doesn't acknowledge color profiles (at least FW8 doesn't), so when you open the image in FW, you might see a small color shift. When you save or export the graphic from FW, the ICC profile may be stripped from the file. If it's important that it be preserved, as a final step, you could try re-opening the exported graphic in Photoshop and re-assigning the sRGB profile (using Edit > Assign Profile) before sending it off to your client. Some web browsers do observe color profiles now—Safari and Firefox, for instance. I think it's good to include them for photographs, but they shouldn't really be necessary for web or interface graphics.

  • Font color changes when exporting to quicktime

    Hi,
I'm creating some animated text via LiveType; importing into FCE; and then exporting either as mpeg-4 (for youtube) or directly as a quicktime movie (to see supposedly the best video).
The font colors look the same between LiveType and FCE; however, when I export to quicktime (as a quicktime movie) or to mpeg-4 (h.264 encoder), the font colors look washed out. Both the .mov and .mp4 look about the same. So, I went back to LiveType and cranked up the intensity of these colors (looking pretty saturated in LiveType and FCE). When I repeat the export, the colors are still washed out compared to what I see in FCE and LiveType; but they are now probably acceptable in quicktime and web viewing.
Is anything thing I can do to make the font colors more consistent between FCE and an exported quicktime or mpeg-4 file? Can anyone suggest another converter that might be better at preserving font color? I've tried plain mpeg-4; h.264; etc.
    tia.

  • Canvas color changing when exported

This is something I've just spotted, and is actually very subtle, but now I've spotted it, is bugging me.
    Basically have a site here:
    http://www.safariawards.com/
The various headings, eg The Safari Awards 2011 were created in FW, and exported out as JPGs (they might actually be OK as GIFs, but have done JPGs because of the gradient fill of the text, and drop shadow).
Anyway - the canvas color pre export is #39434A. Post export its changing to #39444A.
Is there any reason this should be happening, or any way to prevent it from happening?
    Thanks.

Yes, there's a reason it's happening. The JPEG format is a mathematical representation of the data in an image. The compression works by throwing out what are called "higher order terms." The higher the compression, the more detailed information is lost. Color fidelity is one thing you can lose and it's usually more noticable with line art. If you have sharp, high-contrast lines, you'll lose crispness along them, as high contrast is also represented by "higher order terms." (The .jpg format is really designed for photos, JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.)
Things you can try. First, try saving at a higher quality .jpg. Compare that to a .gif. Depending on the art, the colors lost in a .gif may not be as noticable to you as the color shift in the .jpg. Also try a PNG24, as these are full color, but not lossy. Compare file sizes and see which image gives you acceptable quality for the file size.

  • Color change when export as jpg

    hi,
when i save for web as a gif with the same background color as a jpg it looks good on a Mac but if i compare the background on a pc or mobile the jpg is brighter. as the jpg is my fallback that fades to a solid bg color this looks very bad. if i pick colors with a mac color picker they are identical. what can i do ?
    best joe

The mac will apply your monitor profile to untagged files and the PC will apply sRGB...
    the short answer is to
    calibrate/profile monitor to 2.2 gamma, d65/6500
convert to sRGB before Save For Web or importing in dreamweaver

  • Changing default color scheme when exporting ALV report to Excel spreadshee

    Hi all,
We have a bunch of FI reports created using OOPS in abap.  Each of the reports has the functionality to be exported to an excel spreadsheet.  When exporting to Excel, the headers are a very dark brown color, making them difficult to read and it has been requested that they are shaded a lighter color.  I have not defined any sort of color scheme within the report itself, and I was wondering if there was a way to change the color scheme when exporting the report to excel.  Let me know if there is anything that can be done, thanks!

  • Color change when opening in Reader

Hi, I created a PDF in Photoshop. I then added an editable field in Acrobat, using the same RGBs. When I open the file in Reader, the color of the editable field does not match. Any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this?  I have the most recent version of Acrobat and Reader.
    Thanks,
    Jackie

Here is a screen shot of the reader PDF, followed by the original file in Acrobat. You can see that the entire document color changed when I opened it in Reader.
    THanks,

  • Format Changes when Exporting to PDF

I'm using Crystal 12.0 and have an issue very similar to these threads listed below.
While viewing a report on my development machine, all is fine.  I can export to PDF and the formatting is OK.
However, when the report is exported to PDF on the web server, the spacing between some of the text is off.  The spacing is used for a CrossTab cell in a "Display String" that I changed using "Format Field."   All that's supposed to happen here is several spaces are used to move the text under the proper column.
When exporting to PDF on the web, the text moves over to the left like it's missing some of the spaces.  I wondering if the below threads apply to Crystal 12.0.
    Thread:1220516 and
Format Changes when Exporting to PDF
    Thanks kindly for your assistance,
    -Marty

I'm having a very similar problem using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008. Everything is perfect when running in VS 2008, it takes the report and exports it to PDF format via VB code. The PDF file is idenitcal to the report. However, when run on the server the one page report (when exported to PDF) gets chopped into ten 4x4 chunks. So the PDF file is 10 pages....its like puzzle pieces of the original.
I've drawn a bunch of lines on the report to look like boxes - perhaps this is causing issues? The font on the report is Arial.
The server has the 10_5 runtime installed and it is set to the same default printer as the development PC. I have been stuck on this for days and would really appreciate any advice you may have.
    Thanks!

  • Color change after exporting from Lightroom

I noticed a drastic color change after exporting a file from Lightroom to a JPEG file today. I have been using Lightroom for a while, and it never happened before. I am assuming that I changed the setting somehow and I cannot find how to fix it.
    Here is the original.
After exporting to a JPEG. The color is so drastically different. I tried both sRGB and AdobeRGB and they turn out to have the same problem.
It is not as clear as JPEG files, but edited files with Photoshop CS5 also looks slightly different viewed on Lightroom.
I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.  Thank you so much for your help!

Thanks everyone for looking into my problem!
    >Can you upload a sample of each
    >* Raw File
    >* XMP Sidecar
    >* Exported JPEG
I somehow can't find XMP sidecar files in my folders.... So instead, I exported the JPEG file to the 2nd JPEG file, hoping you can compare those two JPEG files.
The colors get lighter and lighter every time I export the files. I uploaded those files (RAW, 1st JPEG, 2nd JPEG) on line. I also changed the file samples from the original post because I can't add watermarks.
I checked my flles, but there is no preset applied to the JPEGs.
I am thinking of unistallng Lightroom and reinstalling it and see what happens.
    Thanks!

  • Rules applied to multiple cells trigger color changes when any of the cells

"Rules applied to multiple cells trigger color changes when any of the cells meet the rule’s condition." That's what Help says, but when I follow the directions, it doesn't work. This is in Numbers 08.
I have a table where the contents of one column are either "YES" or "NO", depending on formulas using variables from other cells. If YES, I want the fill of that cell and that of two adjacent cells to change from white to green. I select all three cells and use conditional format rules for "text contains:" YES, then choose my fill color. When I return to the table and introduce values for the variables that trigger the rule, only the cell in the YES/NO column changes to green; the other two remain white.
While I am spreadsheet challenged, I usually can follow directions as plain as those in Help, but it's not working. I couldn't find anything in the discussions after an hour of searching. Is this a known problem or am I just stupid?

For what it's worth, that's the way I read that line in the User Guide as well. What it actually appears to mean, though is 'Rules applied to multiple cells apply independently to each of the cells."
Here's a workaround for your three adjacent columns. Long, but fairly simple steps.
Add a second table to the sheet (Table 2).
Resize the second table to one column wide and as many rows as you want to apply the conditional format to.
Set the width of the column to the same width as the three columns you want to highlight, and the row height(s) to match the rows.
Format to table to have NO Header or Footer row or column.
Use the Wrap Inspector to uncheck "Object causes wrap"
In the first top cell of Table 2, enter an = sign, then Click on Table 1 in the sidebar, Click on the first cell that will hold YES or NO.
Fill the formula down the rest of Table 2.
With all cells in Table 2 selected, use the Cell Format inspector to set the 'text contains yes' rule and the conditional fill colour for these cells.
Test the conditional formating by introducing values into Table 1.
Click on Table 1 in the sidebar, then use the Table inspector to set Cell Fill to 'none'.
Click on Table 2 in the sidebar, then drag that table onto table 1 aligning it to cover the cells in which the conditional formating is to appear.
When positioned (and still selected), go to the Arrange menu and Send Backward to move Table 2 behind the (transparent) cells in Table 1.
With Table 2 still selected, click on the Cell Borders color well and set the Opacity of the borders to 0%.
Click the Text inspector and set the Text colour Opacity for Table 2 to 0%.

  • Why do the colors change when I reopen a document?

Why do the colors change when I reopen a document?

Are you opening the same Pages document or do you open another document like Word? I has recently been a similar discussion in this forum.

  • Color change on export to PDF

We use an application called Autodoc HSE which relies on hidden text in reports to redirect printed output to email, fax or printer.  It looks for the colour code 254, 254, 254 and anything in this colour is interpreted by Autodoc as a command.
It appears however that when a report is printed from Webi it first goes as a PDF and the colour is rounded to 255,255,255 which is pure white (instead of the off white).
We cannot change the Autodoc command colour for two reasons, firstly because we have so many other systems using this colour and secondly because we could use pure white as a valid colour and do not want that text interpreted as an autodoc command.
Does anyone know how we can force the colour to remain at 254,254,254 when the PDF is created?
I have seen the documents relating to Excel colours but they do not seem to relate to this issue.
    Thanks
