Color on Screen just doens't match output
Consider me a newbie. I am using LR Beta 3, along with PS8/PSE8.
However, I am really having a diffiucult time getting output of my printed impages (especially at 8X10) that match what I see on the screen.
Things seem to be pretty close at 4X6, but 8X10 just doesn't even come close.
So, I am hoping someone can tell me how to "calibrate' screen with printer, so what I see on secreen is what I get at the printer.
I wont deny I don't have the best printer, but it should do much better than it does. as I said. 4X6 works ok, its when I go higher.
Image resolution is as high as you can get with my 40D. My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R300. (can't really afford one of these top notch $1200 printer).
Any suggestions would be great.

Gerry, hang in there, you will get to the bottom of this momentary problem. Everyone I know who uses Photoshop (or any other similar program) and does their own printing has gone down this road to some degree or the other.
YES, your monitor needs to be calibrated (I use a Spyder 3), but if your monitor is in the ballpark for 4X6s, it shouldn't be terribly disappointing for larger prints.
Yes, use the LR drivers, that will give you consistent results.
Use Epson paper until you get this all sorted out, then you can venture out to other papers if you desire and are comfortable with the results on the manufacture's papers. I once had an R300 and it did great, so did my little Epson EPX 875. Unless something is wrong with it/the drivers, that is NOT your problem.
Put on your "to do list" to join a local photo club; there you will find everyone has gone through this and you will also find much sympathy and help (at the least, call a local club and ask for help).
There are numerous good books on the subject, such as "New Epson Complete Guide to Digital Printing" by Rob Sheppard. Buy it used at an online site such as <alibris.com>. This book will tell you more than you ever wanted/needed to know, but it will help you get there (you WILL get there.)

Is it possible to create a PDF with different colors for screen and printing?
I'm working on a document that features light colored text on a dark background. I'll be sending this document as a PDF to someone who will likely want to print it. Is it possible to set up the document such that it will display this way when viewed on screen, but will print as black text on a white background, without requiring any special action on the part of the recipient?
Printing a color separation of just the text color produces exactly the results I'm after, but I can't ask the recipient to do that. I need it to happen automatically any time it's printed.
I've tried setting up a duplicate text layer in black and placing it under the background layer, then setting the background layer and colored text to 'never print'. This works within Acrobat Pro, but not when I print the same document from Preview.
Is there an acrobat equivalent of a CSS print stylesheet?
Thanks.Create the document in layers with the background on a seperate layer than the text. Export the PDF with"Create Acrobat Layers" selected (it will need to be at least version 1.5).
Open the PDF in Acrobat, choose the background layer then Options>Properties>Initial State and under "print" choose "Never prints". -

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. -
How to suppress Lookup transformation no-match output if all rows match.
Hi. I have a Lookup Transformation that sends its matched output to an OLEDB destination and its no-match output to a flat file destination. The Lookup Transformation is configured to "Redirect rows to no match output" when there are no matches.
The problem is that even when all rows match (there is no no-match output), the flat file destination creates an empty file. How can I change this so that the no-match out put "runs" only if there is no-match output? I don't want an empty file to
be created if all rows match.

If I am not mistaken, there is no way of controlling the creation of empty files. However this can be handled by adding a "File System Task" to Control Flow for deleting the file if no records are gone through "No-Match Output". Here are the steps for doing
it;
Create a variable for holding number of records going through No-Match output.
Use the variable with "Row Count" transformation. Set "Row Count" in between "Look up" and "Flat File Destination".
Add a "File System Task" just after the "Data Flow Task" for deleting the file.
Set Precedence constraint with an expression using the variable created for executing "File System Task".

The color of screen seems too bright
I've just upgrage my system. The fonts of tty became very small and very bright after that. I just startx as usual but find the color of screen is so bright that I cannot see the fonts clearly and and kwin effect disappear.
I've reinstall my video card driver and remove xorg.conf but it didn't help. any ideas? thx~rekado wrote:

The font in the TTY is probably small, because of the higher resolution that is possible with KMS. You can change the font size and the colors for the text in the TTYs, though. I can send you more info on that in some hours if you want.

I was looking up a song on the internet, and my internet was being slow, so i was going to the settings to turn internet/wifi off so i could use data. When i did that the screen just went completely black. I didnt know what happened so i plugged it into a circuit into the wall to see if it needed charging. It made the buzz noise when i plugged it into the charger, and siri still works if you hold the home button down. I don't know what to do to get it to turn back on... If anyone knows what to do please help. thanks !

If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.

If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

Yes, it is normal for a Mac to have a blue screen during start-up.
You may also see it change colors from blue to gray.

The left top corner of the screen started becoming dark. The next day, the entire left side was dark. I turned it on yesterday and the entire screen is really dark. Color Shards, Jumbled Colors on Screen
Since yesterday, my display occasionally becomes overrun with what I can only describe as "color shards." Just, big, triangular colors. Sometimes they have distorted letters in them, are sold, stripped, or in a gradient. It usually happens when a graphical change is happening in that area (like, scrolling) but, not always. It has happened suddenly to a static screen. It is remedied by scrolling, or playing with Expose. It happens in a variety of ways:
~ Whole screen covered
~ A line of text
~ Certain zones (like, where the time is, or in a box a flash game is playing in)
~ Very odd places... like, in a Numbers document there once was a gradient purple to white triangle that was behind everything not white, and showing through everything white, perfectly justified with the border.
No big changes recently. World of Warcraft was installed yesterday. I can't think of anything else.

I installed iOS7 on my iPhone5 and now I am unable to open iTunes - the screen just stays blank.
I have checked date and time and wifi settings.
Not sure what else to do.
I do have iMatch active on my device and its working fine on my other iPohne with iOS7 installed.
Any help please!Have you tried logging out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logging back in ? If it's still the same after that then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

Laptop screen just goes dark and i have to cold boot
Hello.
My Macbook Pro 2.66Ghz i7, running 10.8 keeps crashing, in various programmes and its getting annoying.
The screen just goes dark but the lights stay on on the keyboard (if thats any help) and i have to cold boot.
Ive got a crash log from console if anyone can help please.

The repeated kernel panic you're experiencing is a common issue on the mid-2010 MacBook Pro 15". I have the same laptop and the same issue. It's caused by the descrete graphics card. One solution, albeit a bit disappointing and temporary, is to use an application called gfxCardStatus. It runs in the statusbar and tells you which GPU is running. You can use the application to set your laptop to use the integrated GPU only, which will put an end to your kernel panics. But if you are using applications which require heavy graphics (such as photoshop and most video games), you'll just have to count your luck.
Some other users have had their motherboard successfully replaced. Take it to an Apple Store and ask them to run a GPU test. They should find the error (a manufacture defect, it seems) and replace your motherboard, with or without warranty. I hope this helps.

Unable to use free version regardless of browser on any machine. I login with adobe id but then the loading screen just hangs. can't get any further - Tried all suggestions like clearing browser caches but no change.
