Color Product

So, as a starting atist, (starting as in, I've been doing it long enough, but now need the software to improve my skills.) I am getting a computer. Mac. I need to know which Adobe Product is going to work best for editing my pencils and inks that I scan in. Editing, and coloring. Keep in mind, I'm poor. I would love to get Photoshop Cs3 Extended, but that would be absurd right now. Any help on this would be great. The best product at under, say, $200. Trying to figure anything out on their website is a trainwreck, because it is only aimed at selling the new products. Grr.

And how is this related to
b Color Management
, please? Color management is very different from coloring and colorizing.

  • RE: JVC TMH150CGU 15" Color Production Monitor?

    Greetings:
Looking for a dent, but mid-priced monitor for editing and color correction. I've read some pretty positive things about the JVC TMH150CGU 15" Color Production Monitor. Anyone using this? Anything else comparable that I should also check out?
    Blessings,
    Craig

I have this monitor. It has recently been discontinued by JVC. The world is turning HD LCD so you may get stuck with it when you upgrade your techniques or footage. It has very good picture quality and can be calibrated well, but remember that it is a standard definition monitor, so you will not be able to easily or inexpensively monitor 1080p/24fps timelines in FCP. I needed it for that purpose and found I would need to spend a lot more for a Matrox converter to use this monitor for those timelines. Unfortunately, I will be selling mine on ebay and purchasing a low end Sony LCD for canvas external monitoring.

  • Using CieLab Coordinates for Color production of wine

I realize this may be a somewhat specialized and obscure use of Photoshop but I am a Wine Chemist and have been collecting color spectral data from my experimental wines and would like translate the spectra into a color for a presentation.
I have all of the data from my wines including L*, C*, H*, a*, and b*. When I create a new lab color document and try to imput my color coordinates Photoshop CS4 has some different options than what I measure. For example the saturation or c* is listed for some reason as a percentage and if I type in a Hue value (which I have to subtract from 360) it automatically recalculates my L*, a* and b* values. Can anyone help?

You'll need to convert your linear list to a string then save
    it. When
reading it back you'll need to use the value function to
    convert it back to
a list. You won't be able to include any entries with quotes.
You're better off using an Xtra like propsave which is free
    and saves data
    in a binary file.

  • Recently my HP Photosmart C4680 started periodically printing a product advertisement page.

Recently my HP Photosmart C4680 Series All-In-One started automatically periodically printing a color product advertisement page.  I don't know what is causing this page to print. Anyone know why this is happening?

    baltwo,
Thank you for your reply. I tried what you suggested. Since then, I sent a print job from the internet to the printer, and it took about 45 minutes to print. It's strange how, over time, length of time gets longer and longer before the printer will print. It looks like your suggestion cut off four hours and 15 minutes from my wait time, but 45 minutes is still way too long to wait for a print. I have worked with primarily PC's between home and work, and this is our first Mac (we've had it for a year now) and I've not ever seen anything quite like this issue. If you happen to think of anything else, please let me know.
    Thanks again!

  • Product Filtering on Ecommerce Site

Does anyone have a good solution to provide product filtering for an online store??
The {tag_browsepanel} is too simple and only allows for price search. Would like a similar function to occur, but based off of assigned categories that would be assigned to the different products.
The client needs filters set up for criteria such as:
    Color
    Product
    Size
    Material
    Price
    Manufacturer
Would liquid be any help in this?  Is there any known plugin that works efficiently with BC?

You could use the tagging feature for this type of build. Something along these lines: -add tags to your products (Color, Product, Size, Material, Price, Manufacturer)
-on a page insert this module - {module_productfeaturelist tag="{module_url,tag}"} - notice how we pass module_url as the tag to filter by - http://docs.businesscatalyst.com/dev-assets/reference#!/module-reference/pages/module_url. html!named-params
-now if you go to http://perfume10.worldsecuresystems.com/tagged-products?tag=color or http://perfume10.worldsecuresystems.com/tagged-products?tag=product only the products tagged with "color" or "product" are shown.
We are about to release the new Product v3 APIs for products in the near future, when those will be available this type of filtering will be alot easier to implement and you will be able to filter by more complex conditions.

  • Color management: Response and addendum

In course of seeking answers to my own question (5/21--photo displays), I saw a whole series of discussions about color and monitor calibration. (Have not but will read.) Although a two-year newbie to Elements, this is one area I believe I have acquired some expertise after many discussions and meetings with professional color lab owners, techs, photo store photographers, and techs at the leading colorimeter makers, so I can share some thoughts with all. Hopefully, it will not mislead--I also have a question for y'all set out at bottom:
         1. Anyone interested in color issues should (polite form of must) buy themself a copy of Bruce Fraser, Murphy and Bunting's Color Management. I have only made my way a small part thru, but it is an eye-opener and essential reading for anyone involved with photography. Even if you do have to read it several times over to understand fully.
         2. I had some bad tech support experience with my first colorimeter, and nothing but good results and support with the second (Eye One Display 2, made by X-Rite).
         3. When I first started doing Elements editing, I was very disappoionted with the diffence between what I was seeing on monitor and what was coming back from processor. That is another world of explanations. But that is the origin of my having sought over many months good advice, and there is much bad or ignorant advice out there.
         4. (And BTW, is there ever a difference in color production as one goes up ladder from Walgreens/CVS to Wolf (the first two named are sometimes in reverse order) to local higher quality camera store (no chain), to professional photgraphy color lab (and even between some of them!)
         5. In trying to replicate as much as possible what I see on monitor (and I replaced my entire computer and monitor in order to maximize my photography) I make adjustments to monitor in conjunction with colorimeter so that I am within the X-Rite suggested ranges on that end and yet reasonably close to the processed print.
         6. Even with all that, I do some tweaking of photos at end of editing process in order to further the replication process. It has been a process learning the variable extent I can do this, but because some of this gets into "thou shalt not's" and other frowned upon techniques, I will only say that one must make one's own decisions, balancing factors etc.
         7. I am reminded to do a resetting of the colorimeter every three weeks--I generally go 4-6.
If I can help, let me know--because my inbox gets flooded when I click the get email option, I am going to check the forum for next few days. Hopefully there are many far more knowledgeable than I who may give me new insights.
Now for my question:  Our son is going thru the Mac vs. PC debate after his laptop died of old age. Which brought me to google "mac vs. PC" (some good pieces there--one entitled "PC vs. Mac: the Straight Scoop" and the Popular Mx article. Both very balanced. I have too many other pursuits so after listening to the debate over the years, had decided I can do without. BUT:
Q.No 1: Is there any consensus among photoshop/elements users in favor of one over the other? (Some refs to better apple monitors caught my attention, although in light of colorimeters etc., I don't know that it would really do that much).
Q.2: Assume there was some very strong reason to switch to Mac, what happens with all the photos now stored? (It would have to be an extraordinary reason to get me to go through al the hassle of switching all my programs so I am >90% certain I would not, but just wondering if I am a missing participant on another "fourth dimension".) Thanks.

I've got the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and Color Handling > Color Mode is grayed-out in CS2 and CS3 using the Mac driver 6.6 on OSX10.5.8.  I'm not sure why that part of the driver's print dialog is disabled, but no matter.  Take a look at my screens below ( note: these are from Tiger OSX10.4.11 via CS2, but should apply to your arrangement:
Above just use the RGB from your PS Color Settings, here I set it for Adobe RGB and whatever paper you are using...
And above I set Color Management using "Color Controls" and again, the reference to Adobe RGB in the "Mode".
So, I believe I would use the Color Management > Printer Manages Color ( see next screen shot below from OSX 10.5.8 and CS3 )...
In all dialogs, Adobe RGB is used mainly because it was established in the document's Color Mode Settings from Photoshop.
Try these settings above, they work for me.

  • Inconsistent color definitions

    Hi, all,
I have a problem concerning inconsistent color definitions when I print a book file on the Linux system.
    The error message says:
    Color definition: Color8 is inconsistent
This may relate to the fact that this .fm file is copied from Windows version FrameMaker file.
How can I solve the problem?
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Alice

The message means that a color named "Color8" is defined in
more than one of the files in the book, and that the definition
differs between the files. This could be highly undesirable if
the color is being used and you are doing color productions.
The remedy is to make all color definitions the same in all
files by importing color definitions to the entire book.
BTW, the message is a warning and should not prevent you from
    printing the book.
If you're familiar with the files in the book, and you feel
confident that "Color8" is not used for anything important,
and you're not doing high-quality color productions, then:
    1. In the book window, select all the files in the book.
    2. In the book windows, select File > Import > Formats
    3. Deselect everything except "color definitions"
    4. At the top, select the file you copied from Windows in
    "import from document"
    5. Click "import"
    6. Save all files and try printing again.
If you're not familiar with the files and you're not sure if
"Color8" could be used for anything important, you should
either consult with someone who designed the files, or at
least select one of the other files in the book to import
colors from. In this case, find a file in the book that contains
the color "Color8" (use View > Color > Definition). Once you've
found such a file, follow the instructions above and use this
    file to import colors from.
Even better is if you have access to a template file for the
book that contains all definitions of formats. Then open that
file in FM and use it to import from.

  • Building multiple product pages

    Hello...
When it comes to creating up to 1700 web pages that are
generally the same but a few attributes need to be changed what is
the best way to speed up the process? For example, let's say you
have 1700 products to sell and you need to create links to each one
of these product pages(which has been done in the 120 catagory
pages) and on these pages there is a picture of the product with
price, size, color, product description etc. and other pertinent
information... the general layout of each page will be very similar
but things like price, size, color, product description, etc. on
each page will need to be changed... are you aware of a fast and
easy way to do this? I need to create approxiamately 1700 'product
picture pages' that correspond to the links that have already been
embeded in the 120 catagory pages.
So, what is the best and fastest way to go about making 1700
webpages with say, the file names 1000.html through 2700.html that
correspond to the links embeded in the catagory pages? Please
provide steps as I am a noob using Dreamweaver.
    Thanks

I highly recommend outsourcing this project until you develop
    the requisite
skills to build dynamic web sites.
If that is not an option, find out which server-side
    scripting languages
your host supports. The major flavors are:
PHP/MySQL (open source) - Most often found on Linux servers
ASP/SQL - MS Windows servers but some hosts offer PHP support
    too.
Cold Fusion - not as well supported but probably the easiest
    language to
    learn.
Your host should provide instructions on how to access your
    server-side
database - providing one is available with your account.
Read everything you can about setting up a db on the server
    and the
server-side scripting language you intend to use BEFORE you
    begin building
your site. Otherwise, you're just spinning your wheels and
    will likely have
    to redo everything later.
Allow 6-10 months for completion of your first project.

  • Is the iPod touch (PRODUCT) RED available in stores also, or just online?

Is Ipod Touch in color (product) RED available in stores? or just online? and other question, Does Ipod nano 7th generation has iMessage?

    - I expect all colors of the 5G iPod touch to be both available via the on-line Apple store and in Apple brick and mortar stores.
    - Only iOS devices (iPod touch iPad and iPhone) have the Message app.

Yes you can! (that's what I've heard). They're only selling it in apple stores because it's a limited edition color product. They putting some of the product profit to help people in Africa with AIDS since it is a really bad virus there right now.

  • Setting up a Production Monitor

I'm looking to add a production monitor to my FCP setup in addition to two monitors. I have access to a Canon XL1 but don't actually own a camera or deck yet. My question is, how can I have a production monitor hooked up to my computer without a camera or deck involved? Is there a video card that I need to purchase? Am I going about this whole thing incorrectly?
    I'm thinking of getting:
JVC TMH-150CGU 15-Inch Color Production Monitor with 750 Lines, 16:9 and 4:3 Aspect Switch, NTSC and PAL Systems
Does anyone have experience with these monitors? Are there any special considerations I'm overlooking?
I work on short to feature length movies - nothing for broadcast right now but of course I'd like to do things as professionally as possible. I'm learning. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just to say that we originally had an Aurora card and had HUGE problems.
We work in PAL and often in the DV codec but when we monitored in component there were horrible quality issues. The dealer told us that things had been missed in development with the card. (Ouch...)
Also we had quite a few stability problems and they only went away when we took the card out. Snag was that there was no uninstall programme and it was a major pain to get the Aurora software off our system.
Now running an AJA Io and everything looks great and our system is as solid as a very solid thing.
Just done a 10-bit uncompressed project and it looks fantastic.
As we're filling up our PCI slots with firewire and USB things it's actually quite nice not to use one up with a video card.
That said, I've an editor friend who uses Decklink and speaks very highly of it so those would be the two choices for me...

  • Airprint in the Enterprise across subnets [Solution]

This is a message to help folks figure out how to setup
Airprint across wired/wireless subnets. Hopefully it will help a few people.
Airprint was designed to work with Bonjour on a local subnet/broadcast domain.
To print in the enterprise where we have wired/wireless infrastructure,
we need to use a DNS server to find the printer resources
    Assumptions:
    Our internal domain is: foocompany.com
We create a new subdomain: bonjour.foocompany.com
Creating a new subdomain allows up to apply DNS views so we can show print/bonjour services in
    close proximity of the user.
You have a CUPS printer server (linux/apple) running at printserver.bonjour.foocompany.com
    1. Setup a DNS server
If you setting up a test domain server, you can setup forwarding to your primary production server.
This way all DNS queries continue to work
In your named.conf file setup forwarding
    options {
    forwarders { YOURTOPNAMESERVER_IPADDR; YOURTOPNAMESERVER_IPADDR2; };
    forward first;
allow-query-cache { any; }; // Allow client queries from other subnet to query from cache
    Create a new zone, "bonjour.foocompany.com"
    zone "bonjour.foocompany.com." { type master; file "/etc/bind/db.home"; };
    zone "foocompany.com" { type forward; forward only; forwarders { YOURTOPNAMESERVER_IPADDR; YOURTOPNAMESERVER_IPADDR2; }; };
Create the following entries to support bonjour browsing
    #=======DNS====Begin======
    lb.dns-sd.udp IN PTR @
    b.dns-sd.udp IN PTR @
    dr.dns-sd.udp IN PTR @

    2. Setup CUPS
Add printers to the CUPS server.
Enable access to the printer queue from remote machines,
GUI: "System->Admin->Printing->Server->Server Setting: Allow printing from the internet"
Also make sure the following lines are present in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
    # Allow remote access
    Port 631
    Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock
    AccessLog syslog
    AccessLogLevel all
    LogLevel debug

    BrowseAllow all
    BrowseRemoteProtocols CUPS
    BrowseAddress @LOCAL
    BrowseLocalProtocols CUPS dnssd

    3. Change iPAD configs
Add your DNS server as the first DNS server in the network settting page.
Add "bonjour.foocompany.com" to the DNS domains to search
    4. Test printing
    Open up Photos application.
    Select a picture
    Select "Send To->Print"
Select "Printer", now a list of printer names should show up as defined in the DNS server
Select a printer and hit "Print"
Fast task switch to Print Center to verify print job is being sent

    Update for ios 8:
With ios 8 it appears that _printer and _ipp are no longer equivalent. For this to work it looks like you have to use _ipp._tcp
Also - the underscore characters are important and they are missing from the example above.
Last - you can use the "note" field to add a second line that is displayed in smaller text below the printer name in ios 8.
    Here is an updated template:
    ####Printer TEMPLATE

  • Insane XML Import, Huge Project, Duplicate file names work around...

I planned on kicking off my journey attempting to edit a massive multi year documentary on FCPX with a nice introduction of the blog I'm going to keep about the experience, but I've run into a bit of a roadblock, or maybe major speed bump at least before even getting to that point. I wanted to share what is working as a work around for me and you guys can tell me how I'm doing it wrong.
Ok, I will try to explain this as succinctly as possible. I'll write in somewhat stream of consciousness just to try and get through it quicker... Basically, after discovering the work around below, I am now utterly confused on how FCPX handles the relationship between its own database of where media is stored, and the actual media itself. I have plenty experience on FCPX now, probably done 30-40 pro commercial jobs on it over the last year since XML became doable as I'm also a Resolve Colorist and all the FCPX projects where hardcore coloring product spots. For commercial work, I never needed to worry about splitting up footage up over multiple Events. Everything, all in one, FCPX handled it no problem. (well the occasional beach ball, but that seems to be a thing with FCPX in general)
This will be my 10th feature documentary as an Editor. Every one before it was either on Avid's many flavors over the last 12 years or FCP Studio. When this new film came along, I made the decision a few months ago to use FCPX for a few reasons, but mostly because I'm insane and I like to try to mix it up for myself in a career that can get stale quick if you aren't willing to be that way. The film was shot over 2+ years, every shoot was multi cam 5D (yes i know, looks great, but please kill me), I haven't done the math on length, but there is over 10,000 clips of video (this is actually medium in size compared to what I've dealt with before). Its 5D, so theres external audio for everything. FCPX's syncing is great, but I've learned that theres an unsaid window of heads and tales clips must fall within to sync properly with the nearby clips, if they are too far apart FCPX gives up. One shoot day could have 3 cams, 50 clips each, and 2 audio files to sync to, FCPX simply cannot handle this, so off to Plural eyes they went, no problems.
Ok, all this is relevant eventually I swear! Again, in the past, all in one event, no problem. I tried for fun to bring all media into one Event on this film. It worked, but there is a 10+ second spinning beach ball for every single move you make, so thats no good. Ok, I'll separate the Events out to, lets say, each shoot month. Well that's dumb, in verite documentary, any shot could be the first, any shot could be the last, you need a command over all searchable footage at all times. Shift selecting all events to search *****, and it actually takes longer for FCP to reload each event each time than it does to just have the one massive one. So no go there. Next hair brained idea... What if make a new Event that is just Compound Clips of all the other Event's contents and do more with Markers and Favorites in logging that I was planning to parse it all out. That way I'm working with and FCPX is dealing with 50-60 clips instead of 10,000+ Quick test, Cmd-A, Opt-G, boom, boom, boom, move all to dedicated to Event, hide huge Event, BEHOLD, that works! FCPX chokes a little bit on the insane length of some of the clips, but searching, and general performance is back on par!
So your saying to yourself "Ok *********, sounds like you figured it out, what's the problem." Well to you I say, "Not so fast!" Remember, that was just a quick test using the media I had imported into the massive 10,000+ clip Event. To do this project proper, I am having to import Multicam sync'd XMLs from Plural Eyes. And this is where it all starts to fall apart. A little foreshadowing for your eager eyes. 10,000+ files all shot with multiple 5D's over the course of years. What does that mean? many, many duplicate file names!
FCPX as well all know irritatingly imports XML's as new Events, not into existing ones. This obviously takes a lot of burden off media management because with a new Event comes a new database referencing its own version of the raw media. All well and good, and I'm betting its starting to click for some if you advanced users where I'm finally going with this. So I have 50 or so XMLs to bring in, all done no problem. Now I want to replicate that singular Event like I did with the Compound Clip test and have it all in one place to be my master as extensive logging begins for easy searching once editing begins. Highlight the Events, click Merge Events. NOPE. I get a new "Kill Yourself Now" error (a term I coined for Out of Memory and General Error messages in FCP Legacy meaning there ain't much you can do about it): "Two or more files have the same name. Change the names and try again, because I don't know what the **** to do with them." Ok I made up that last part but that's basically what it's saying. Just take the variable out of the equation, this happens with every which way you could try to get the clips together. Merge Events, dragging events on top of each other, dragging just the Multicam clip alone, nothing gets passed that message. What's worse is that while Batch Renaming seems like a solution, the renames do not populate inside the created clips and there is no way to Batch Rename those. Renaming everything at the finder level isn't so great because then I'd have to resync and theres an offline/online thing going here where the film has to be reconformed eventually.
Basically, I've found that FCPX handles media management in completely different ways depending on whether you are importing into one Event yourself or doing essentially what is a new import with FCPX moving or merging Events. If you bring in all the media to one Event, on a macro level FCPX goes through file by file making aliases referencing the master file. If it hits a duplicate, it makes a parenthesis counter, and keeps going. And with the genius of FCPX metadata, that file name doesn't even matter, you can change it at the Finder level and FCPX will keep the link intact. BUT for some reason if you try to do this outside the realm of a single Event and combine files after the fact a different process takes over in creating this database system and can't handle the duplicates. I can't totally figure the reason other than it probably is scared to change the originally referenced alias to something else (which it shouldn't be scared of since Merge Events deletes the original anyway).
This is where it gets INSANE and where I lose all understanding of what is going on, and believe me it was a delicate understanding to begin with. It comes in to play with the work around I figured out. I make the master Event with the 10,000+ clips. Then I import all the XMLs as dedicated Events. Now, I then drag the Multicam clips into the master Event, it WORKS! just takes it, no "Kill Yourself Now" error. Stranger still, now with the switched referenced Event, it even takes into account which aliased duplicate file name it's referencing in the Original Media folder. Somehow, it's taking into account the original file path and saying "Ok, I see 5 instances of MVI_5834.mov. Based on the original file path or maybe creation date or god knows what, it must be MVI_5834 (fcp3).mov." It connects perfectly. I can even remove the old XML imported Event with no problem. Crazier yet, I can now move those again to the dedicated Event I wanted originally that only contains those Multicam or Compound Clips.
So instead of going straight from A to C, going from A to B to C works even though that actually seems way more complicated. Why can't FCPX handle Merge Events and dragging clips the same way it handles media imported into a single Event. And weirder still, why can't FCPX handle the (fcp1,2,3...) appending in the same scenario. But if the appended links are already there, No Problem. And for the love of god, it'd be nice to important XML's into existing Events and make the correct referencing happen right from the get go, which is really the source of all the above headache. I'd have no problem helping FCPX with a little manual pointing in the right direction just like any other NLE needs.
Ok, having said all of that crap above, my question is, have I missed something completely simple I should have done instead? Now that I have everything in place how I originally envisioned, I think I will still play around a little bit more to make sure FCPX is really going to be able to handle this project. I'm at a stage right now where going another direction is still an option, although the dare devil in me wants to make this work. Media management aside, once you start editing on a FCPX timeline, its hard to go back to anything else. Apple is going to have to figure out some way not to access to everything at all times to work fluidly or big projects like this are never going to be practical in FCPX.
Sorry for the long confusing post....

I'm having the exact same problem, but I know nothing of ruby scripts. I've exhausted my resources with tech support, and after literally hours of work with them it seems I now am faced with either re-rating each individual song, or pointing iTunes to each song that it can't locate. Is yours a solution that could help me? How can I find out more about Ruby Scripts? Thanks for your help, hellolylo (or anyone else who might also be able to help...)

  • Ipod nano in ipod sock...no scratches

I seem to read nothing but complaints everywhere about the nano and scratches. What a lame deal to have a scratched up ipod! However I personally have not had this trouble at all. I have been carrying my nano half the time (I have had it for weeks now) in my small jeans pocket like Jobs at the keynote. The other half the time in my pocket with my keys, change, earbuds and everything else in that pocket. However in both these places it was in my ipod sock. Which is entirely too big for it, but it seems to even be an odd way of showing it off. When you pull that sock out of your pocket to show somebody and it looks like an empty sock people's mouth's drop when you pull the nano out and tell them what it does. Regardless, my point is.... I have not gone out of my way to be easy on the thing, I use it like I would anything else. I took the plastic off the screen and everything. Not one scratch on the thing. I do not have a black ipod though, which I know has most the complaints. But so far this thing seems easier for me to not scratch than my other ipods that scratched up right away. Which those got scratched while being in the sock I might add.
For the record, I did not post this in attempt for people to disregard what others are complaining about...there posts are just as valid as mine. I am just sharing my experience with the nano and the sock.
on a small note...my motorola rokr phone's screen is the one Iratating me. It smudges like something I have never seen befor. Maybe I have oily ears or something...ha, ha, ha

    Joseph,
Thanks for your positive post. I am glad to hear your good experience with the support. I have also had my goods and my bads with support. Overall I am most pleased with these forums. Although they can't send new product or fix most hardware in the forums, they seem to help the most. People like me will post little things (tips) they have learned with a product (like using the socks) that alot of people think at first are stupid but later on prove usefull. Then you have the level 3,4,5 posters that fix all the problems that people like me screw up on their computer (these people are awesome!). Last of all you have the people that complain. I have done my fair share of it expecially with the nano vs camera connector. But if it wasn't for people complaining their wouldn't be a new nano coming to your probley. I also wouldn't have known to be aware of the scratching issues. Although I have not had that problem doesn't mean I couldn't.
People also do have to realize you see alot of negative's in these forums, but thats because this is where people learn to go if they have problems. Its not a chat room. Apple sent out a whole lot more nano's then the post's upset here with them. Even if there was a thousand or two posts on scratched nanos, thats nothing compared to how many people didn't post. I believe the 1% you are refering to is also 1 tenth of 1 percent refering to the cracked screens, not the scratching. As far as I know apple claimed this is the same material that they used with the fourth gen ipod and its not defective. Again though I am not defending apple as they should replace any products that are truly defective.
As far as the pledge wipes...I have never gone that far. I just use the ipod sock to wipe mine off. I know it seems rough but it works for me with no scratch's. I have also never even dreamed about buying a black ipod. Although they look awesome and apple puts them out, black anything scratch's easy. We all know that. If you bought a white car and a black car which one are you going to drive through a rough car wash or drive down a dusty road. Once you do are you going to demand a refund. I just meaning you find life easier with light colored products. Black products require entirely too much care for me.
Again the purpose of this post is not to disagree with anybody who has had scratching issues. Hopefully mine doesn't end up that way anytime soon.
Speaking of complaining this article and the interpretation of their poll in this article are driving me nuts.
