Building multiple product pages

Hello...
When it comes to creating up to 1700 web pages that are
generally the same but a few attributes need to be changed what is
the best way to speed up the process? For example, let's say you
have 1700 products to sell and you need to create links to each one
of these product pages(which has been done in the 120 catagory
pages) and on these pages there is a picture of the product with
price, size, color, product description etc. and other pertinent
information... the general layout of each page will be very similar
but things like price, size, color, product description, etc. on
each page will need to be changed... are you aware of a fast and
easy way to do this? I need to create approxiamately 1700 'product
picture pages' that correspond to the links that have already been
embeded in the 120 catagory pages.
So, what is the best and fastest way to go about making 1700
webpages with say, the file names 1000.html through 2700.html that
correspond to the links embeded in the catagory pages? Please
provide steps as I am a noob using Dreamweaver.

I highly recommend outsourcing this project until you develop
the requisite
skills to build dynamic web sites.
If that is not an option, find out which server-side
scripting languages
your host supports. The major flavors are:
PHP/MySQL (open source) - Most often found on Linux servers
ASP/SQL - MS Windows servers but some hosts offer PHP support
too.
Cold Fusion - not as well supported but probably the easiest
language to
learn.
Your host should provide instructions on how to access your
server-side
database - providing one is available with your account.
Read everything you can about setting up a db on the server
and the
server-side scripting language you intend to use BEFORE you
begin building
your site. Otherwise, you're just spinning your wheels and
will likely have
to redo everything later.
Allow 6-10 months for completion of your first project.

You can try these 2 ways.
1. Add the common item to a Master page, and assign this master page to all your pages, so they all have the same content, and add the additional content manually.
2. Use Library. You can add your item like textbox in library, so you just have drag and drop it on each page with recreating it. It is explained here in more detail

Multiple Products on a Single Page

Hello,
Back when I built this website http://www.kerrlab.com/ BC didn't support multiple products appearing on a single product page. I worked with a BC vendor on a workaround which wasn't ideal since we had to put actual HTML into the Description field of the Catalog Detail page:

Based from your current layout, i'm pretty sure we still cannot do this on BC.
Only work around I can see is to use the {tag_grouping}, where customers can choose between products of a certain "product group"
In this case, you can still use your exisitng product items, and just group them together, and put {tag_grouping} on your Product Detail Layout for customers to choose the items. e.g.

(there is a dropdown to choose the other products)

UIX: How to build multiple form search result page?

I was wondering what UIX components I should use to build UIX search page that will return results in similar to Amazon.com-search-result-page? Currently UIX search page shows results in a read-only table. I need to display results in more user friendly way, one below the other where each row will be shown in read-only form manner (ie with messageTextInput components).
And, say I want to show 10, 20, ... records per page. Actually similary to this forum search engine...

See the problem is that I do not want to show results in the table. I am wondering how eBay, Amazon and other sites display these results in a page? When they return search result, all records are displayed one below each other but not in the table. right? Or maybe the table is just formated in a different manner? How?

Multiple Summary Pages

How can I use multiple summary pages in a single OPM project ?

If possibly using JS/Jquery anyway, I'd suggest you don't need multiple summary screens but instead a a single summary screen from OWD with a single list of goals presented by default. Use JS to add a search function and dynamically modify the HTML to make the sorted/grouped lists appear as you desire (on the same page without any requests to the server). Only upon clicking on a goal would the question pages in pursuit of the selected goal begin.
You might get some good ideas on implementation from the searchable combo-boxes in v10.4.1 - summary video available at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmmQeFt6qCQ&list=UUtUHPDCD1EFH_ftnhR_i-dQ&index=5&feature=plcp shows the properties that control behavior.
You'll probably want to look at the velocity templates in \Release\web-determinations\web-inf\classes\templates\ (after a build). Look at question_screen.vm for an example of how the comboboxes are rendered and for javascript inclusion within a velocity template. Also look at summary_screen.vm as that is what renders the summary screen and will likely be where you will want to add your JS search functionality. (also shows how the list of goals is rendered by default).

If possible, How do I copy multiple PDF pages to a word document?

I know how to take a snapshot of one PDF page at a time and copy to a word document; however, I do not know how to copy multiple PDF pages at once. Is it even possible? I would love to know if anyone has any information pertaining to my question!

If it messed up the formatting, you will not be able to do more with Acrobat. Some third party products supposedly do pretty well, but that conversion may cost you as much as Acrobat.

Displaying content on multiple html pages

I’m building a basic website for a business/charity I
work in. I’m no pro so all my pages and templates are written
in HTML. For convenience it would be nice to have sustain bits of
info appear throughout the website on different pages. As I
understand the best way to do this is to create a RSS feed and then
have the relevant web pages display the feed.
However I’ve been reading up on how to do this and I am
finding it very complicated and am not even sure if it can be done
with an HTML page. All the examples I have come across seem to be
done in PHP. I’m not even sure what PHP is.
My question therefore is: Firstly, is RSS, what I need, or is
there a simpler way of having bits of text appear on multiple web
pages? And, if so, can I have RSS feeds display in an HTML? And,
again, if so, can someone point me in the right direction to do
this in the most simple but yet still efficient/reliable way?

Name the file being included anything you want. It doesn't
matter to its
functionality as an included file.

A properly constructed include file should only contain
references to CSS
rules specified in the parent page. That being the case, if
you are editing
the include file directly, you cannot style the text unless
you are doing it
in Dreamweaver, or unless you make reference to the existing
styles
specified in the parent page.
Contribute does lots more than what you ask. Go to Adobe's
site and read
about it.

Gneration of multiple Production Order from multi level BOM

Hi Experts,
My customer has multi level BOM. meaning child item also has its own BOM - 4 Level.
FG-Pack - Make
      FG - Make
           SFG - Make
                RM - Buy
Their process is once they create Production Order for final Finished Good, System should also create Production order for child which it self are of make type and has own BOM defined in system.
They wish that once the create Production order for FG-Pack, system should automatic generate production order for FG and SFG as both of these has BOM defined and are of procurement type Make.
So first they will close the chile production order and receives qty. in ware house, they will issue this child qty. against main production order, and then completes the main production order.
So they remains informed about the child item stock.
My question is SAP Business One supports creation of multiple Production Order?

Hi Samir Gandhi,
There is no build-in function for this task. You need add-on or SDK for the job.
If the sub level BOM items are phantom, you can create a big production order including all sub BOM components. That is system supported.

Can A Site Have Multiple ABOUT Pages

Given the fact that iWeb's layout looks awesome if used in a 'singular' form - for one individual. What if I want to build a site with 'multiple' about pages, per say one for each client. Is there a way to have one 'about button' lead to a page with multiple buttons - that can direct a surfer to one specific page? In other words.
click 'about' -- next page 'multiple selections' -- click 'one selection' -- be lead to one 'about' page.

You can use the About page as a template and change anything you want. Add hyper links or let iWeb add the links ontop of the pages.
You'll be able to do what you want.

Build multi-product contest entry form with payment

I have a client that wants to build a contest entry form that allows the user to enter multiple products with details and totals the amount for payment in one form. Each product that will be entered into the contest will have the same price of $60.
First of all, is this possible without setting up products in the eCommerce module?
My idea was to have the users go through a multi-step form to enter the contest. EX: Step 1. Contact Information | Step 2. Company Details | Step 3. Product registration | Step 4. Payment | Step 5. Confirmation/Packing Slip.
Step 3. Product registration - I was hoping the user can click a button for each item which will give him the option to enter a product and detail information for the submission. If he wanted to enter more than one product, he could click an "add more" button to generate another entry area for submission.
Step 4. Payment - The user will be given the total amount to pay depending on how many products he has submitted into the contest.
If anyone has a suggestion or idea on how to implement this type of entry form, I would love to hear your comments.

Serious SEO problem--How does one apply SEO description, keywords etc. to catalog and product pages?

I'm working with the BC template TRIBECA. It comes with 2 page templates. I used one of the templates to create the catalog and product pages. Now I'm stuck with a single description tag and keyword tag for SEO purposes. Is there a workaround other than creating multiple template pages, one for each catalog and product page?
UPDATE- I mistakenly mentioned I used template to create product pages. Actually product pages are created with a template but not one you can choose. This mystery template uses 2 h1 tags which is an SEO no,no. How do I remove one of the h1s?

You should be able to ammend that layout by going to your Admin>>Site Manager>>Module Templates>>Online Shop Layouts.
All the necessary files will be there. I suspect it is the Overall Layout and Individual Product - Large you are after...
You can also make use of custom 1,2,3 and 4 tags for extra descriptions etc as BC will automatically render meta tags in the corect spot if they are included in the layout.
...also, note that when creating a catalog, you can add a title and description...

does anyone know were to find tutorials on create php product page with more then one image and a listing of products. Only to show not to buy products its basical to show products and to list them. Its to be done in dreamweaver can anyone help me Im having problems finding something.

What you're proposing to do is not particularly difficult, but nor is it something that can be taught in a quick online tutorial.
The first problem you face is that Dreamweaver's PHP server behaviors were removed from Dreamweaver CC because they use deprecated code. The code still works, but it's scheduled to be removed from PHP at some future stage. A lot of online tutorials (as well as published books) also use the deprecated code. So, unless you know what you're doing, you could easily end up learning to do something that will need to be completely redone when the deprecated code is finally removed from PHP.
How you handle this depends on your existing skills and budget. To the best of my knowledge, Adobe doesn't have immediate plans to replace the PHP server behaviors with updated code. If you don't have experience with PHP, you might want to consider buying commercial Dreamweaver extensions to handle this for you. DMXZone has some excellent PHP data extensions, but they're not cheap. I'm not sure whether WebAssist has updated its data extensions yet, but again, they're not cheap.
If you're willing to do some hand-coding, you might find my beginner PHP courses on lynda.com give you sufficient confidence to build the solution yourself. If you don't have a subscription to lynda.com, you can get 7 days unlimited access to all courses (disclosure: this is an affiliate link). If you prefer written material, my PHP Solutions, 2nd Edition, covers all the PHP/MySQL skills you'll need to accomplish this task. It was written four years ago, but avoids using the deprecated code.
Whichever route you decide to take, make sure the solution uses either MySQL Improved (MySQLi) or PDO. You'll be wasting your time trying to pursue a solution that uses PHP's original MySQL functions.

Master with multiple details page, is there an example out there?

Many hints and suggestions can be found on this forum about building a page with a master with multiple details page. But is there a working example somewhere? It looks quite complicated to me.
Also I would like to know if it is because of my Oracle Forms background that I miss the possibility of building this kind of forms in application express. Are there other ways to setup the pages so that you can do without them?

Let me elaborate on my requirements a bit:
The form I want to create should look like this:
Master
Atrtibute_1
Attribute_2
Attribute_3
Attribute_4
Details_1 Add Delete
[] item1 (read-only)
[] item2 (read only)
Details_2 Add Delete
[] item1 (read-only)
[] item2 (read only)
So basically it should be possible to maintain several lists of items that belong to the master record. Checkboxes allow the user to select records for deletion. The Add button shows a pop-up window that lets the user select an item to add.

Issues in the How To "Build custom popup pages" document

I followed the How-To document: "Build custom popup pages".
It worked well with non-special-character data.
But when I tested ename = KING's, the JavaScript could not handle this ename.
I believe other special characters will have similar problems.
Any suggestion for handling special characters in custom popup LOV pages?

You can use PageURL tag. This is part of the render tag lib. In fact,
the skeleton JSPs for page tabs use this tag to create links.

Building multiple Fillable Forms

I need to use / build multiple fillable order forms. They generally consist of 3 parts: Header, Options, Payment Information. Can I (how) copy/ paste one of the sections to build another form, ie, take the header of one form, use the Options of another, and the Payment information layout of a 3rd to make a new form?
