Coloured stripes

this problem is random and happens 30-40% of the time.
after waking from sleep or after boot i am getting a screen filled with coloured stripes. i am unable to see the desktop or the mouse pointer but from using the apple remote i can tell that the system is working ok as i can get itunes to play.
there is nothing connected other that mouse and keyboard and it happens regardless of what programs are running.
putting the monitor asleep again and waking using the monitor power button does not work, only shutting down and leaving for a while makes a differance.
is this a graphics card problem?

sounds like the graphics card has overheated and died. best to get a replacement
I used to have this problem on other machines and it does bare all the symptoms.

You could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then other things to try are a restore via your computer's iTunes, and then reset back to factory defaults. If none of them work then you may need to contact Apple.

Vertical coloured strip in lumia 520

my nokia lumia showing a vertical strip left side of screen.it has a same colour pattern as right side.it has 2mm width. It some times appear some times diappear .i brought this cell 1 week ago. Not droppd or no physical damage happened..is this a deffect? Wat should i do??

Do a factory reset (Settings>about>reset your phone) and if the line remains return to your retailer.

Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod fom backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problems you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Rear camera showing coloured lines how can i fix it?

hi, i have a blackberry q10 and wwhen trying to use the rear camera it shows coloured stripes, the front camera works fine. i have factory resetted the phone and it doesnt cure it. i have also tried updating the software. does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix it?

I have to ask. No protective film? No heavy greasy smudge? If not, and given what you have done to troubleshoot, I would contact seller about an exchange.

Coloured patterns on vga card

Hope anyone can help.
Just installed the FX5900Ultra VTD256. Set all the bios settings correctly for this card and installed the drivers with the disk. My problem is that a few secounds after windows is up, the picture goes to coloured stripes as soon as you click on anything on the desktop. If you restart windows with the reset buttons on the case it still shows coloured patterns instead of the post screen, this is the only way of resarting the pc. If you switch off it post all right but as soon as you click on anything on the desktop it goes back to coloured patterns. Ran out of ideas to try so open to offers.

Is my Macbook Pro dying? (freezing, crashing, trouble at turning on/off)

I'm having some trouble with my Macbook Pro 10.6.8. It was working very fine until last week. I've bought it speakers (for Windows, though the seller said it'd work fine for Mac too). After a few days, my Macbook started to crash a lot, freeze, and have troubles when turning on and turning off. So I've stopped using the speakers, the issue still happens. I suppose my Macbook is having those issues because of bad quality speakers. Every time I turned the computer off, I could hear an odd sound coming from the speakers.
Issues:
- It crashes. Even when I'm in a website like Google (it doesn't use flash, 3D, has many animated pictures, etc), it takes longer to crash/freeze but still it does after couple of hours. It simply randomly freezes.
- It freezes too. The same above. At times it just freezes, others, the screen goes odd! It goes messed up with the image itself, colours, stripes, it blinks... and I'm also unable to use apps such as games, skype, etc. I was able to use them few days ago.
- The "Rainbow Wheel of Death" appears often now!
- To close apps, the "send report" window now appears more often either.
- I'm almost always having trouble at turning the computer on. It sometimes delay, sometimes it tries to turn on (it appears the normal loading screen) but then it turns off because it couldn't work, so I have to try again. Sometimes the Black Screen of Death appears and I have to force turning off.
- I'm almost always having trouble at turning the computer off. That window saying that I have to restart shows up sometimes. Well, I don't have many troubles at turning off since it's turning off... but sometimes it is just odd, seeming like the computer won't turn on again. Because it lags, it briefly freezes before turning off (causing the Rainbow Wheel of Death to appear), and so on.
How I've tried to fix it:
- I did the Disk Repair numerous times.
- I ran the anti-virus and such, they didn't detect anything.
- Yesterday I've deleted thousands of junk files (you know, those odd images and files that you find in your All Documents folder?). There's plenty of free space in memory.
- Yesterday I was having too much trouble at turning it on, so it went in Internet Recovery mode. It took long to finish, I thought it was going to be fixed. But it did not.
- I often try pressing the option + command + p + r thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
- I didn't try to reinstall, because I can't find the CD installer (if I have it). But I'm sure it wouldn't work either.
None of those works. I really hope the HD disk won't die since I'm having to press the power button often... and I'm starting to think that it's an issue with graphic card/video card. But I have no idea of how to replace those, how much they cost, which I should buy, where to find... it's getting tough.
Please, help me! What's happening to my Macbook? It never had such problems before, I have it since last year! What shall I do?
This Macbook can't die! It's the only computer here and repairing/buying a new one would be so expensive!

If it has 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on installed it is more then like a few years old. Could be the drive is failing.
Your best bet is to take it in to an Apple store and have it checked out. But first you should backup your data to an external drive as soon as possible.

Resetting Time Capsule - network is OK, but no longer connects to internet

I've set up my TC in the past and it's worked fine, but periodic printer or router updates have caused problems and I think I need to completely reset it.
My setup is an ISP-suppled Orange Livebox Mini router connecting to the internet, an iMac plugged in by ethernet (connects to internet OK) and my TC connected to this router by ethernet. My MacBook Pro then connects wirelessly to the TC network. This setup means I don't need to have two wireless networks, I can disable the Livebox router's wireless network and use only the Time Capsule wireless. However, that's not working. I can create a wireless network with my MacBook Pro but the TC is unable to get an internet connection despite being connected by ethernet to the router. I think I need a total reset but even when I do a manual reset by sticking a pin in the tiny button on the back of the TC, when Airport Utility finds the TC to recreate a wireless network, I find the old settings. I feel this is, or should be, simple stuff as I managed to set it up before, but this time it's just not happening. For a long time I thought this was just a problem with wireless settings on my Lexmark printer and waited for the Apple/Lexmark updates to come through, but now I think my TC settings need to be flushed out. One thing that looks odd to me is the IP address on the TC. It's 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, I thought it should be nearer the range specified by the Livebox router, something more like 192.168.x.x

Oh joy and happiness, I solved it myself, and I owe it to the community to give some details for the benefit of anyone with the same problem searching on terms like Orange Livebox Mini.
I solved it by racking my brains till inspiration came - that it was a very very well hidden setting on the router itself that was the problem, nothing to do with Time Capsule. I had called Orange to fix this before, but had forgotten that this little setting needs changing from its default every time you reset the router.
When you have to reset your Orange Livebox router, they more than likely won't ask about your entire setup, they will get one of your computers working by connecting it by ethernet to the primary ethernet port, numbered '1' on the back and with a red stripe next to it. But there are two, number 2 has a yellow coloured stripe and if your main computer, in my case the (desktop) iMac right next to the router goes into ethernet port 1, you will want to connect your Time Capsule into the second, yellow ethernet port. However, that port is not set to work automatically for anything to connect to, it's set up for digital tv. You need to go into your Orange admin page for the router, found by going to 192.168.1.1 on your browser and logging in (remember 'admin' is the magic and default password to get you in. If you have to do a manual reset because you changed and forgot your password, the magic word gets you back in). Once logged in, select 'services' in the menu on the left, then 'digital tv' and then select the 'disable' button. I know, you'd never have found it and never have guessed that's what you need to do to open up the second ethernet, but you now have two ethernet ports into the router and your TC goes into the second work.
Also wanted to say that my TC has actually been flawless in its performance. Not always easy for simpletons like me to set up, but the hardware has always worked. Printer updates and, I think, Apple OS updates remain a problem as they can throw the printer off, but I must remember to keep my nerve - TC is basically right on, it's just the various different ways to get at it - Network Diagnostics, Airport Utility that confuse me.

Menu bar disappears, and dock stops working

I run a simple server using a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 with 7GB memory, a 1T raid drive and OS 10.5.8. The last time I changed any hardware, ram etc, was two years ago.
The Mac simply sits there and feeds files to the other Macs in my network, so no one is looking at it. It seems to have an odd crash, which does not affect its ability to serve files.
The menu bar will disappear and the dock and all applications will stop working. The dock will bounce an icon when it's clicked, but the program doesn't launch.
Neither "control-comand-eject" nor "option-comand-escape" work. I have to do a hard shut down.
I've run disk utility and repaired permissions. I've run DiskWarrior (v4.1) and rebuilt the directory etc. I've run Techtools Pro (v4.6.2) and run all diagnostics, including the surface scan (took 15 hours). It still acts the same.
The only other oddity I've found is that photo files will randomly go "bad". They're not going bad during a transfer, as I open each file after transferring to the Mac, and confirming they are okay. Then a day, a week, a month or a year later, I look for an image and find it with coloured strips through it, sometime wiping out the entire image. I have no idea if this is related.
Any ideas what's wrong and how to fix it?

Sounds like a RAM problem mostly, or RAM slot problem.
The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

Try using the standard ME2N (and similar transactions) first.
In ME2N you can use the dynamic selections option to search using the release indicator as part of the selection. (click on the icon with the three coloured stripes and look through the header fields)

Graphics problem on lion 10.7.2

i got a problem with sims 3 on my MBP 13" (early March), Intel HD Graphics 3000. within the game there are texture problems. sims have different colours, it looks very strange. they have colour stripes on their body body, eyes are black with stripes and the stripes are on movement all the time. and there's one big more: assassin's creed 2 and assassin's creed brotherhood won't even start (since the upgrade to lion all characters in assassin's creed 2 have been green and red, so it was pretty unplayable). since the update to 10.7.2 lion works better und programs don't freeze anymore, and in dragon 2 blood is red again (since the upgrade to lion it has been green and blue,), but the new problems are realy annoying. does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?
hopefully there's an update coming within the next weeks...

I have the same problem. I also have the following problem : iTunes 10.5 told me that my iPad needed resetting which I started to do and then it errored out on me leaving my iPad stuck. I eventually upgraded to OS5 on my daughters Mac which was running iTunes 10.5 with OS X 10.6.8 but have lost all my apps etc which I presume are on my iTunes . Unfortunately my iTunes will still not let me access my iPad. I haven't dared plug in my iPhone since upgrading to 10.7.2 in case it does the same thing. Help!

I like to move an airplane over a map and the aircraft has to leave a coloured stripe to see from were to were the aicraft has moved.
I want to realize this effect with after effect. Please give me a hint for realisation

Draw a shape layer path (Formebene), apply a trim paths modifier and animate its end parameter. Make the stroke dashed. More on that in the online help. For the airplane, copy&paste the shape layer path to the position property of your aircraft layer, then extend the keyframes to match the duration of the stroke being drawn.

It sounds like you may be having logic board problems. Enough Dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from the logic board problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Do the symptoms look familiar? After leaving it sit overnight, does squeezing the case to the left of the trackpad allow you to start up and work for a bit as long as you keep the pressure on it there? If so, you may want to consider trying the shim fix suggested by John Sawyer in the Apple Discussions iBook G3 (Dual USB) Displays Forum:
[Y]ou can often fix this yourself by removing the iBook's bottom housing, and placing a shim of any sort, about 1mm to 1.5mm thick, onto the raised square on the bottom shield. I use a Scotch mounting square--you can get them in hardware stores and many grocery stores. When you reinstall the bottom case, it will press against this shim, which will press against the graphics chip, and may allow the chip to come into better contact with the logic board.

If the shim fix doesn't work (or you're leery of trying it), DT&T Services in Fremont, California offers the cheapest repair I've found. They have a six-month warranty on the repair.
Once you get it fixed, try never to pick it up by the left front corner alone. The theory is that picking it up by the left front corner alone can contribute to logic board failure when the case flexes, causing the graphics chip to come loose from the logic board. If you're picking it up in your left hand (as I often do mine), pick it up in the center under the trackpad.

Please note: As a G3 iBook is quite old at this point, if you are faced with paying a repair bill on it, it may be wiser to put that money toward a new (or used) MacBook. They are quite a spectacular upgrade from the iBook G3. Again, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

HP Deskjet F2280 - are the inks fade resistant?

I'm printing some cards with simple, block colours (thick, coloured stripes) on matte paper (not HP) and they need to be fade resistant.

MSI 180 - Graphic driver problems

Hi folks,
after cooling down my Mega 180 from 48 degree to 34 degree start-up-termperature (heatsink lapping, turn fans around, build in a fresh air duct for cpu fan) my system is running very stable - what a great lap forward after days full of frustration. Thanks to live update I have the newest bios (rev. 3.5) and drivers for my hardware installed. But I'm still facing some smaller problems, maybe is this forum I can find a hint how to handle that:
1.) TFT-drivers not accepted
I'm using a Hyunday Q17 TFT display and I never had any problems with my old system to identify this correctly. But with my MSI 180 XP installed 5 (!) default displays and will not accept the correct monitor driver I have. When I try to delete 4 of this 5 from the control panel XP re-installs them during the next boot-process. My question is: why 5 displays and why just default displays??
2.) Flickering and coloured stripes after booting
Sometimes, when Windows is alreday started, the display changes from the "Welcome"-Screen to some colourfull stripes and seems to be frozen. After hibernating and re-starting everything is o.k.again. Diver bug ?
3.) Black screen
When entering the windows desktop, the screens turn black for 1-2- seconds, then again it show the desktop, then again 1-2 seconds black. It looks like the driver tries out various video modes. But I don't know why ???
Conclusion is, that there seems to be a bug in my graphics driver. I tried to load the newest once via Live Update, then again directly from Nvidia website, but nothing changed. Any ideas about that ???

I'll check later, when I'm back home, in Nvidia driver are installed properly. I just checked, if there is a question mark somewhere in system control panel resource overview. But everything looks fine.
The flickering is a little bit more tricky: When starting the PC instead of my windows desktop a colorfull page of thousands of colourfull stripes appears and flickers like a rainbow. Windows is definitively running, I can can use all keyboard short cuts e.g.. It is not the type of flickering when running under low frequency. Maybe this, comnined with 2 seconds black display, is part of the famous "black display" issue.
My last machine was able to identify my TFT correctly as a Hyundai Q17. But at that machine it was connected by DVI, not the analog connection. Maybe that is my problem. I'm still looking for a small graphics adapter with digital out (nothing special, I'm really happy with the onboard graphic controller, I'm not a gamer), I'm afraid my old fullsize FX5200 might be too large for the Mega.
