Combining colors

Hello.
I am having trouble getting a movie clip to change color
based on bitwise operator commands. I have variables for the red,
green, and blue values, and an overall value for plugging them
together. But when I call to have the display object's color
converted to the RGB value, it just doesn't do anything. Here is my
code:
Thanks for any help.

No, not a gradient, but rather the ability to increase the
red, green, or blue channel based on a button click.
So let's say that Mainball starts off a high green color (85,
255, 43) ties to variables lumRd, lumGr, and lumBl respectively.
I'd like to be able to manipulate the indivdual decimals of
each color. So clicking a red button, for example, increases lumRd
by +5, while keeping the other values, and then have that color
change reflect in Mainball after each click. I think I have the
theory down, I am just struggling with the syntax and placement.

  • Using layers to combine color photo over lined paper - color loss

    I'm trying to do a guest book design for my mom's wedding. I have a photo that I want to combine over lined paper (created w/ Word and scanned. Saved as PDF). I was going to change the opacity of the photo to make it lighter while also bringing in the lines of the image below. I renamed the photo so it was no longer background, selected it, copied and pasted over my white, lined image and the color photo then became a grainy black and white. Alternatively, I could have put the photo over a white background and changed the opacity to lighten it and then drawn lines on the image but this did not work as the lines did not come out uniform. Would really appreciate help!!! I have a couple of PSE books but am still stuck. I'm using PSE 12.
    Thanks!

    Assuming your lined image is black lines on white background, place the lined image above the picture in the Layers Palette. Change the Opacity of the lined image to Multiply. The lines will appear and the picture unchanged.
    This is an old version of PSE so my Layers Palette will look different from yours, but the result should be the same.
    Is this what you are trying to do?

  • Combining color and black-and-white pages in a single pdf

    I have a document in which I have a few images with colors. The document needs to be printed but currently the whole document is in color so the costs are expensive. I want to convert the pages without the images to black-and-white and keep the color pages as is. I saw that it is possible to convert the colors of a pdf document from color to black-and-white using Acrobat Professional. Is it possible to convert only certain pages? If not, I am thinking of spliting my document, converting the text pages, and then merging them back with the color pages. Will that keep the original color settings? Basically - can I have some pages in gray scale and others in color within the same document? Thanks!
    (The document is to be printed elsewhere, so I can't just print separately the gray scale and color pages).

    You you separate the pages, convert the colors spaces and recombine, each page will retain the new color space.

  • How to overlay color image over a grayscale image without IMAQ?

    I would like to display a color image over a grayscale image; I would like the color image look translucent. How would I do this without using IMAQ functions? I am currently displaying my grayscale image using Intensity Graph.

    Transparency and overlays are really just arithmetic on the images. It
    is either done by the windowing system or by you. At the moment you
    can't set transparency on LV controls. You can set it on LV floating
    windows on some OSes, but then you will need to have the windows lined up.
    A more direct approach is to lighten or darken the color image elements
    based upon whether they will display over white, black, or a shade of
    gray. If the images don't have the same size pixels, this will have a
    first step of resampling th
    e images so they do. Then combine the pixels
    using the transparency you were going to apply to the color and the
    shade of gray beneath it. I'm being vague here because there are lots
    of physical models for combining colors.
    If I look in my paint program I see about fifteen, so this is where you
    get to make a choice and decide if black behind a red pixel is black, or
    dark red. It all depends on whether these are two transparent
    images(acetate sheets) backlit, or is it a transparency over a
    nontransmitting media like paper. Anyway, if you can be more specific
    about what you want, none of this is hard, typically just scaling the
    int32s, adding, and some sort of normalization.

  • Workflow FCP - AE - Color ??

    Hi all,
    I'm working on a post-production of a music video and I'm bit confused about the best post-production workflow. The film has been shot with Nikon D90 camera, and I've converted the files to ProRes422 for editing in FinalCutPro. Arter editing, I will need to do some effects in After Effects and I would like to do the color-correction in Color.
    So the questing is, what would be the best order to do things? In AE I have lot of keying and compositing to do. I can move the files from FCP to AE with XML-script, but after AE it will be one rendered clip which is bad for Color. But if I do Color before AE, my compositions and effects won't get the look.. So how would you do this so that the quality stays best and it's easiest to handle?
    Thank you in advance,

    Thank you David for your answer,
    I've done many productions with ProRes and It's working great. Nowadays I do most everything with it. I think I won't have problems with the audio. It's a music video, so no sound-editing.
    I naturally won't NEED XML for moving to AE, but it makes things a lot easier. I just export the XML from FCP, and import it to AE by using script from Popcorn Island (http://www.popcornisland.com/category/after-effects/) (It's kinda same as Automatic Duck, but free..) So this way I get everything to AE on separate tracks without rendering and can do all the transitions and fx stuff there. I often do some rough compositions and movements in FCP, and the keyframes transit as well, so I can tweak them in AE. It's really nice way to work.
    I don't really use lowrez, my machine works fast enough with full quality clips.
    Usually I finish the whole thing in AE and just render it out, but the actual questiong is combining Color to this thing. This time I would like to finish in Color. I haven't used Color before, so this triangle of programs is a new situation for me.
    Actually when writing this my friend suggested of using EDL like this:
    So maybe like:
    FCP -> XML to AE
    Render AE -> to FCP
    FCP -> EDL of the original file to Color,
    and finally Color -> back to FCP and to Compressor...
    I haven't tried it yet but I will tomorrow and let you know if it works.
    Still I would love to hear better ways to do this. I'm sure there are people who are doing this everyday, so good hints are appreciated..
    Thanks in advance, and sorry for bad grammar..

  • MY PIXMA iP4000 not printing--paper feeds and steps through but only blank pages

    The printer sounds like it is printing----you can hear the print head moving---but nothing prints....
    pages are completely blank. Reseated the connections, no effect. Took out all the cartridges, reseated
    them, no effect. Still only prints blank pages. Connected it to another computer, same---only blank
    pages...nothing, not even a test page or nozzle page will print. Any ideas? Was working fine
    on Monday when I went out of town until Friday. When I tried to print on Saturday morning, only
    blanks pages. Just spent a small fortune on ink for the printer and would hate to trash the
    printer, but can't justify spending more than the price of a new one to have the old one fixed.
    PS The printer is connected to my USB port, as it was for the past several years when it worked
    fine. Totally stumped/

    Thanks, Michael, however, I was on the phone with Canon for some time, and could not get the printer to do anything even off line. Was told the iP4000 is over 8 years old and there are no parts available to repair it.
    So I have already replaced the printer with an iP2702 that was on sale at a nearby
    mass merchandise store. I was intending to replace the iP4000 eventually anyway, as the red was
    not printing as vividly as it once did...more like a purple. Thought at first it was because I was using
    3rd party ink, but even after replacing the magenta cartridge with "genuine Canon", the red was still
    not as vivid as when it was new.
    Unfortunately,as you know,  the iP2702  got uses a more expensive combined color cartrdige
    rather than the separate ones in the iP4000.
    I am suspecting the reported failure of my iP4000 to print may be due to the third party cartridges
    which I was told do not contain a "chip" as do Canon cartrdiges and that may signal to the printer
     to suppress printing.
    Strange, as I have been using 3rd party cartridges for some time prevbiously without any problem.

  • Just need some simple stats :)

    I've been using Microsoft's "Excel Lite" program for a few years. I don't even know what it's called, but its performance is more limited than Excel, which I've never used.
    I've never used a mathematical formula in a spreadsheet. All I do is insert data, which I organize an save as a CSV file, which I then import into a database table. For example, I have a spreadsheet with information on the animal kingdom, arranged by class, order, family, genus and species, all coded by cell background color/pattern and various font styles.
    To get to the point, there are two features I've grown to love that I have not found in any other spreadsheet, and I'd like to ask how Numbers compares...
    1) Sortable columns - In "Excel Lite," you can sort as many as three columns at a time. If you highlight cells spanning twelve rows, you can sort by one, two or three columns, even if you've only highlighted a single column. You can also sort an entire column (or two or three columns) by simply highlighting an entire column. I discovered that you cannot do this in OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet. I forget the details, but it was clumsy to work with.
    So how efficient is Numbers' sort feature? Can it sort three columns or just one? If I want to sort every row in a column(s), can I do so by simply highlighting the column, or do I have to specifically highlight every cell in each row and column I want to sort?
    This is the single most important feature I'm looking for.
    2) Cell/Font Attributes - OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet has a respectable number of cell background colors to choose from, but I like Excel's approach better. M$ allows you to choose various shades of each color, combine colors to create new colors and also choose background patterns, such as horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines. What scheme does Numbers use?
    Here are a few more questions...
    How many rows of data can you have in a Numbers spreadsheet? (I think my spreadsheet programs allows about 16,000, while I believe Excel allows 65,000.)
    How much text can you insert in a cell? Unfortunately, I can't use my spreadsheet program for storing articles, because each cell will only accept the equivalent of one or two medium paragraphs. I don't expect any other spreadsheet to do better...I'm just wondering if Numbers does allow you to paste entire articles into cells.
    I'm fascinated to hear that you can paste images into a Numbers document. Right now I'm organizing images I use on my websites into a spreadsheet, with separate columns for each image's ID, caption, text for the ALT tag, etc. It woul be nice if I could actually see a thumbnail of each image next to its ID and description, sort of like connecting a name with a face. Can you really do that? I would think the file size would be enormous if you were working with hundreds of images.
    I assume you can save a Numbers document as a CSV file...right? Is there also a feature that allows you to publish a spreadsheets' content directly into a MySQL database table? (I understand OpenOffice.org has such a feature, though I've never tried it.)
    Sorry for the long post. Any feedback on any particular question would be welcome. I HATE everything Microsoft, and I'm not even using Parallels on my MacBook Pro. The only M$ software program I covet is Excel, so I was elated to discover that there may be a worthy competitor out there.
    Thanks.

    Sorry, I didn't realize there was a free trial version. I just downloaded it, and my first impressions are WOW!
    The sort feature is better than the sort feature on "Excel Lite." Just click "Sort and Filter" to bring up the little Sort dialog box. At first, it looks like you can only sort a single column. But clicking the little plus sign on the right opens additional columns. I don't know what the limit is, but it's certainly far more than three.
    I also verified that you can paste very large amounts of text in a cell.
    Unlike M$'s spreadsheet, there are no cell background patterns, but there are plenty of colors to choose from. Also, it appears that there are far more options for styling text.
    I've only worked with it for a few minutes, but, for my purposes, Numbers rocks!

  • New Printer for PBG4 1.33

    I am looking for a new printer but I have heard that many have problems working with macs. The two most important aspects are photo printing quality and the ability to plug it into my airport express. Less important, but it would be nice, is a built in scanner. I would like a canon but I have heard that HP also work well and are good printers. Can anyone recommend a good model?

    You might also want to check out Macworld or read reviews at Amazon or Newegg to see what works for people. I prefer Canon printers, and have used several of their ink jet models. One reason I like the Canon printers is that a number of them have individual color cartridges, so I replace just the color that's needed when empty. Some of the lower end Canon's and most of the HP's used a combined color cartridge with multiple colors in one cartridge (Black is usually separate). Canon's come with a good selection of mac utilities, too.

  • Question for MUKS, if you are listening

    MUKS
    I have seen an old post which talks about white balance. This is what you wrote.
    "When you take a picture of the white card, make sure it is not over-exposed.  Split the image into the RGB components using IMAQ Extract Color Planes.  Select the same ROI on all three color planes, and use the IMAQ brightness function to measure the average intensity of the ROI.  This gives you the values R, G, and B.  Pick the largest value and call it M.  The scaling factors for each color plane are M/R, M/G, and M/B.
    Now, with a regular image, split the image into the RGB components.  Multiply each of the color planes by their scaling factor using IMAQ multiply.  Recombine the image using IMAQ Combine Color Planes, and you have a white balanced image"
    If anyone knows what this guy is talking about especially about the IMAQ brightness function.
    I acquired an image from camera and extracted its color planes. I have RGB values but these
    are an array of values. I want to white balance and I am stuck.

  • Feature Request - Responsive

    Dear Edge Animate Team,
    Maybe it is a built-in feature but i couldn't find how to use this feature. So I am making request.
    When using responsive properties of edge animate, elements do not automatically position itself according to width. This makes responsive approach useless. See pictures.
    When i make stage width smaller, textareas responds. Picture too. But they don't position themselves correctly. As seen in image2, text goes under the picture. Auto position element can make our life easer. Thank for your hard works.

    Well my rationale behind it is if Reflow just outputs CSS then I will have to go in, and completely convert the code to LESS, or SASS. Or created a parser to extract the combined color, background-color, font-style, font-size, etc. If you guys are using node.js like the Brackets team is it should be fairly simple to just convert LESS to CSS (and CSS to LESS) on the fly internally using one of the available packages.
    And the reason it would be nice to have it built into Reflow is that the point of Reflow is to design the website. If it could output LESS/SCSS that would greatly improve it's flexibility.

  • Using Photoshop Print Control to Prevent Toner Waste

    As a result of a mechanical registration problem, I discovered that my color laser printer prints black (and grey-shades) using all toners. This strikes me as extremely wasteful. It's also likely the source of excessive toner consumption I've observed with this printer (Samsung CLP620ND).
    Intuition suggests that some appropriate setting within the printer's advanced configuration should stop the thing from printing black by combining colors, I cannot find it (and the manufacturer's tech support is clueless, and thus, useless).
    So I turn to Photoshop CS6 native print output control whatnots. I cannot figure out how to make Photoshop to either 1) output color-sans-black to the printer; OR, force the printer to use black toner only for the black channel.
    Clearly I'm in over my head here. After burning a couple hours of playing the "Internet-forum-keyword-search" game, and reading much about similar issues but nothing specific about my own, I've decided to post this request for some knowledgeable help with my dilemma.
    Anyone?

    seriously...?  lemme guess... you couldn't be bothered to read past the first paragraph of my post...
    i swear, there exist one of your type in every single forum on the Internet, regardless of venue. you and your ilk succumb to some pathological need for online attention by impulsively contributing the most insipid comments into any thread. predictably, the quantity of your superfluous responses is high yet inexorably inversely proportional to the quality of their content. and while i feel disappointment that your tripe is the first response i get to my request for help, i take it as affirmation of my theory that the ignorant have much, much too much idle time on their hands. alas i have low expectations that my humble query would garner any information of applicable value; you've managed to qualify my sentiment. nice goin'...
    please... for the sake of those of us actually interested in getting to some semblance of remedy... stop responding!

  • Change the font color of a text field in a table by key-combination

    I want to change the font color of a text field in a table (single cell only) on pressing a key combination. Does anybody know how to do this.
    I have a lot of data in a table. During an evaluation of the data in a meeting I want to change the color of the text depending on the result of the meeting. (for example: High risk = CTRL+R makes the text red).
    I know how to change the color using a button, but I do not want to add a button after each cell. For this reason I would like to do it on a key combination that alway refers to the active cell.
    Many thanks for your help in advance.
    Marcel

    Hi,
    I don't think you can use the ctrl key like that as those shortcuts will be intercepted by Reader (ctrl-R toggles the ruler display on / off).  You also might have trouble updating the color while you still have focus on it.  You can use the shift key in a similar way, so if you only have lower case characters in the text fields then you can do something like;
    if (xfa.event.shift)
        switch (xfa.event.change)
            case "R":
                this.fontColor = "255,0,0";
                break;
            case "O":
                this.fontColor = "255,102,0";
                break;
            case "G":
                this.fontColor = "0,255,0";
                break;
        xfa.event.change = ""; // ignore character
    If you need uppercase characters maybe you can have one button to set "review mode" and test that on the if (xfa.event.shift) line.  But again it wont take effect until you have tabbed out of the field.

  • How can you combine 2 shapes while preserving individual colors?

    I want to be able to apply vector textures [for t-shirts for example] by knocking the texture shape out of the original shape. Now, say I have a logo with several layers, or a bunch of shapes together, and I want to apply ONE texture across the entire thing (as a knockout). What is the best way to go about this.
    And as my question asks, how can I combine two objects into one shape without making them one color? Using the pathfinder of course. Aka, while still maintaining individual colors. Thanks!

    I don't have a specific project in mind, but I can mock one up. Okay, so in this example I have a "logo" that has text (in outlines), a gradient, and another shape (it's not a stroke) behind everything. And on the side you can see my texture. Normally, using the "minus front" feature, you can knock the texture out of the shape. But that doesn't work for a complicated combination of shapes (even if it's grouped).
    Solutions for this?
    I should start a whole post about every possible way to apply textures in Illustrator. Because I know a few different ways, but they all seem to have problems....
