Combo Box for SSRS

I have a very large list and would like to filter via combo box.  Is it possible to use a combo box for a parameter in SSRS either 2012 or 2008 (currently running 2008)
Thanks,
JOe K.

Hi tjcinnamon,
According to your description, you want to filter data by using a combo box in a parameter. Right?
In Reporting Services, it's not supported to have a combo box in a parameter. For your requirement, we can create cascading parameter to achieve it, it can generate corresponding values in drop down list based on the selection in another parameter. For more
information, please see the link below:
Add Cascading Parameters to a Report (Report Builder and SSRS)
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Plotting a combination chart with a combo box for selection

    Hi:
    I am a newbie using xcelcius and I need help on the following:-
    I need to create a combination chart that plots 3 years data by month, and I need a combo box selection at the top that allows me to select user display for each difference region. I manage to create one that plots only 2008 data with a combo-box selection, but I have no idea how to do it for a combi chart in xcelcius. Any advise?

    Hi Ning,
    I assume your data are like this:
    Region             Year     Jan     Feb     Mar
    APJ             2006     $234.45     $310.34     $321.54
    APJ             2007     $314.35     $319.12     $256.89
    APJ             2008     $425.54     $354.34     $285.73
    North Asia     2006     $534.64     $642.35     $484.64
    North Asia     2007     $631.74     $654.13     $754.34
    North Asia     2008     $754.31     $423.65     $634.32
    South East Asia     2006     $536.42     $576.35     $525.42
    South East Asia     2007     $426.78     $876.43     $643.75
    South East Asia     2008     $634.87     $425.77     $732.43
    If this, you can set the insertion type of combo box is "Filtered Rows", see steps:
    1) For Combo Box, bind General > Labels to the Region column.
    2) Set General > Data Insertion > Insertion Type is "Filtered Rows" (you can refer to following flash to see how "Filtered Rows" works).
    3) Set its Source Data are Year, Jan, Feb, ... columns and Destination to blank cells.
    4) Bind Chart to the destination data.
    Now when you select APJ from Combo Box, it will insert all the rows of APJ data to the desitination cells which will be displayed in Chart.
    Hope this can help!

  • How to modify a combo box for touch panel operation?

    Hi,
    I'm developping a touch panel controled application.
    The first step of the application is user log-in. My application has a small database of names that the user can access via the drop down menu of a combo box.
    My problem is that the arrows and the slider of the vertical scroll bar are way too small to be fingers-operated:
    Is there a way to modify the size of this scrollbar so that it's not too small for the operators' fingers?
    Best regards,
    peper

    Hello peper,
    As far as I know this is not directly possible (a least not with the control editor).
    If you want to, you could also create your own "adapted" control yourself through an XControl.
    This one can then (for example) combine a name input, a button and a listbox (with a big vertical scrollbar).
    Or is this too far fetched?

  • Help with Radio Buttons & Combo Box for Flash Form that sends email

    I'm having a bit of a hard time with a Flash form that I'm working on.
    I've got the basic text fields working fine, but I'm not sure how to retrieve the values from the Radio Button and Menu List components.
    The PHP script pulls the values from the text fields with:
    $contact_name = $_POST['name'];
    $contact_email = $_POST['email'];
    $contact_subject = $_POST['subject'];
    but using
    $radioGroup = $_POST['radioGroup'];
    doesn't retrieve the selected radio button value.
    The radio buttons have a groupName of "radioGroup". The combo box component doesn't even show up in the HTML version, but does in the .swf.
    Can anyone point me in the correct direction to pull these values from these components and get them passed to the PHP form? The native .FLA and the php file are here for reference:
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/21984/flashform.zip
    My solution needs to be ActionScript 2.
    Thanks!

    again, you assign a variable.  the selected radiobutton's data and/or label isn't going to magically be sent to the php file.
    for example, if you have sendLV and receiveLV loadvars instances, you can use:
    sendLV.rbData=yourradiogroup.selection.data;
    sendLV.yourothervariables=yourothervariables;
    sendLV.sendAndLoad("yourphp.php",receiveLV,"POST");

    Hi Disha,
    you will have to change standard ABAP code for this.

  • Access 2010 - How to display data from a table into a text box upon combo box selection?

    Hi
    I have a a table with 5 columns: month, year, USD, SGD, BAHT.
    I created a form with a combo box for selection of the month and year, and I would like to set adjacent text boxes to show USD, SGD, BAHT information. How can i go about doing that?
    From the Q&A here, most of them uses the function similar to this "=[Combo0].[Column](1)" to show the data in the text box, but this would require the combo box to list a whole bunch of details if i were to add in more currency values to the
    table. Is it possible to not show this information in the combo box, but still populate data in the textboxes base on a selection on only the "month" and "year" in the combo box.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to show only the month/year in the combo box, we can choose the date, and it will display the value of USD/SGD/BAHT based on the month/year.
    If it is, I recommend you try the steps:
    Create a form based on your data source table>Add the combo box>combo box wizard>Find a record on my form based on the value I selected my combo box>Add mouth and year to selected fields

  • How do I correctly use Macro Builder to have a form auto select a TAB depending on a value selected in a combo box?

    I am working in access 2013 to update a database first created in Access 2003. It has been saved as an accdb but I have the same problem in earlier versions.
    I have a Tab Control subform in my MainDataEntry form which has 5 different tabs. Each Tab has its own set of text boxes and combo boxes for data entry. At the top of the MainDataEntry form there is a Text box [Text393], which has a drop down with
    the 5 TAB names, [Mobile Device],[Computer],[Loose Media],[Network] and [Original Device]. When I select one of these values in the Text box, I would like to automatically set focus on the first Textbox or ComboBox inside the corresponding TAB.
    I have tried to do this using the MacroBuilder inside the "After Update" Property for the Text or Combo box that is on the MainDataEntry Form using "If" and "Else If" statements for the "GoToControl" action, however
    I seem to be able to only get one Tab to work. I have tried several different variations of this, putting the If statement first and the action argument second...putting all arguments inside a group, or not grouped....nothing seems to work. What am I
    doing wrong?
    EXAMPLE:
    If [Text393]=[Mobile Device] Then
        GoToControl
             Control Name   Combo471
    Else If [Text393]=[Computer] Then
        GoToControl
    Control Name   Bios_Date
    Else If [Text393]=[Loose Media] Then
        GoToControl
             Control Name   Combo659
    Else If [Text393]=[Network] Then
        GoToControl
             Control Name   User Name
    Else If [Text393]=[Original Device] Then
        GoToControl
             Control Name   Combo814
    End If

    In the Macro Builder's AfterUpdate event for [Text393]:
    GoTo Control
      Control Name =Forms!MainDataEntry.Controls(Text393.Value).Name
    To ensure that the first control on each tab receives the focus, set that control's Tab Index property to zero (0).

  • Cant make a list/combo box that enters a different value to what you chose

    Hi Any help will be very much apreciated,
    Iv been turning my timesheet into a P.D.F form for filling out it started as an excell spread sheet and iv bassicialy just put txt boxs over the fields that need filling in and if made the "total" box add up all the hours so its great so far
    but the problem i have is for the Premises number section i want to be able to give the user a selection of all the properties but have a number entred into the actual fields for example... you chose "smiths road sainsburys" from a list but the job number "1234" is entred into the form for printing/sending
    Thanks anyone.

    If I understand what you want, you can use a text box in addition to a combo box for this. For each item in the combo box, set its export value to the number you want. Then in the text box that will display the number, use the following custom Calculate script:
    event.value = getField("combo1").value;
    Replace "combo1" with the name of the combo box.

  • Huge combo boxes in JFileChooser/JList text truncated in 1.4.0

    Hi there,
    We have an application which works fine on Sun JRE 1.3.1
    Recently we started supporting Sun JRE 1.4.0
    But we have some problems with GUI in Sun JRE 1.4.0
    In the JFileChooser dialog the combo box for Folder name
    and file filter is atleast twice as big as normal in when
    using JRE 1.4.0. This seems to be happening only in some particular
    machines. And if we run the application using JRE 1.3.1, on the machine which has problems with JRE 1.4.0, everything works fine.
    Also we use a JList with a custom cell rendered in the application.
    the cell renderer returns a JLabel component with "monospaced" font set in it. In some machines (same machines which has the JFileChooser problem) the upper half of each item in the JList is truncated. This also works fine is we use JRE 1.3.1 on the same machine.
    Please help me if you have any info on these issues.
    Any pointers to related issues on this forum or bug database is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in adance

    Hehe. Give it more time. Could you explain more about what you mean?
    You have a form with the select combo box in it. The user chooses a value from the combo box. Then submits the form. You want to put the value of the option inside the sql statement right? Not the words displayed by the option, but the item you put in the value section right?
    If so, its rather easy:
    query = "INSERT INTO Table VALUE( comboType, \""+request.getParameter( "text")+"\"); The \" might not be necessary depending on how the value is stored.

  • Combo Box Clearing

    The combo box on my form has a list of valid values. When the form loads the combo is in a state where no value is selected.
    Once I have selected a value in the combo and added a record I want to clear the combo box for the next item to be added.
    The combo box retains the previous entry and there doesn't seem to be a way to put it in a null or non-selected state.
    Is there a way to set a combo box to a state where none of the valid values are selected, once one has been selected.
    Thanks for any help.

    thanks Dilip and Vishnu,
    I added the following to handle the case where the "" value already existed and to remove it if it was added just to clear the combo.
    try
    ddlStatus.Select("", SAPbouiCOM.BoSearchKey.psk_ByDescription)
    catch
    ddlStatus.ValidValues.Add("", "")
    ddlStatus.Select(ddlStatus.ValidValues.Count - 1, SAPbouiCOM.BoSearchKey.psk_Index)
    ddlStatus.ValidValues.Remove(ddlStatus.ValidValues.Count - 1, SAPbouiCOM.BoSearchKey.psk_Index)
    end try

  • Combo box internationalization

    I'm trying to brainstorm ways that I can design my application so that I have the benefits of a drop down / combo box list and free form text entry while at the same time being as globalization ready as possible.
    I like the feature in some combo boxs where the end user may select a choice from a list but may also type in entry values that doesn't exist in the predefined list. On the other hand, I would like the predefined list to be properly localized for different target audiences - for example, if the combo contains a list of cities, I'd want the same entry to refer to the city Venice in English as Venice but as Venezia in Italian and Venise in French.
    One way of approaching this problem is two have two fields: a combo box that prohibits users from free form entry (but has a list of most choices) and a second text field that a user types in if they can't find the desired value in the combo box. The combo box entries would be stored in an locale-independent or consistent way in the data store while the display would change depending on the user's selected locale. (Unfortunately, the contents of the text box would not be in any way localized).
    Can anyone think of other ways to accomodate the goal of having a list of some sort (not necessarily a combo box) that allows user entry while at the same time most entries are stored in a locale independent way (so that they can be easily localized)?

    That's true - I didn't specify what type of combo box it is. That was intentional, as I'm open to anything that will get the job done. I have to admit to not knowing a lot about the JComboBox control but I've read the Java Swing Component Tutorial on Combo Boxes (and specifically the JComboBox) and I can see what you're talking about. It's a good suggestion that you've made.
    Part of what I need to do (and not stated in my original goal) is to be able to save the combo box's (or whatever control -- I'll call it combo box for simplicity ) value to a database (solution must work in both Oracle and SQL Server) field and then later retrieve these values to display them in a form and in a list. Issues that I'll need to deal with are sorting based on the combo field value, comparing records for equality (and specifically their combo box field values), and searching for a record based on a value in a combo box field.
    A bit more information on my requirements may help people with their suggestions - as noted, localization is a priority, data must be saved to an Oracle or SQL Server database and I need to deal with sorting, comparison, and searching based on the combo field. I will be working with a three tier architecture and a rich client tier, but would like to do as much as possible in terms of sorting, comparison, and searching at the database level for performance reasons. I'll likely need to do some work in the middle tier - what kind of support does Java give for comparing, sorting, and searching a bulk set of records, w.r.t respect to the combo box problem as I've described it so far?
