Combo box properties

I have a form with a combo box. What I want the combo box to do is to allow the user to select a value from Table A Field A and put the value from Table A Field B into Table B Field A. I have made various changes to the properties for the Combo
box and have been unable to get the behavior I want.
The setting below takes the TableAFieldA value selected and puts the value into TableBFieldA.
What should the properties be set to select TableAFieldA, put TableAFieldB into TableBFieldA?
Here is how my properties are set:

However, you want to double-bind the ComboBox (that's probably not a real term). Essentially there are two layers upon which you can apply databinding to the ComboBox. The first is through the DataSource and ValueMember properties. These
would point to TableA and FieldB (the DisplayMember would point to FieldA). Once that is set, you go to the top of the properties grid for the ComboBox and expand the (DataSources) node. Then use the dropdown arrow next to the Value property to
select TableB as the data source and FieldA as the data member.
This binds the list contents of the ComboBox to TableA and the selected value to TableB. I believe that is what you are asking for.

i am trying for a string control which has combo box type display on the front panel but the drop dowm menu which gives the available option which one can set by going to properties & then to edit option ,but can it be possible to have the same type of front panel control with the option being there that are a field of the database

CS4: Setting combo box properties for interactive prototype

Hi
I'm doing an interaction design for a web application in
Fireworks CS4 and can't figure out how to make a dropdown list
(e.g. combo box) work properly.
I'm using the Common Library > Win > ComboBox symbol
but I can't see how to specify the options that should display in
the list. Based on my experience with other prototyping tools, I'm
looking for a property in the ComboBox property inspector, but
there's nothing there and I can't find anything that explains this
in the Help.
Surely I don't have to mock up this behaviour myself using
graphics?

Adding Images to a Combo Box-Acrobat 9 Pro

Hello everyone. Can images be used as selections in a combo box in Acrobat 9 Pro? If so, how can I set that up? I only see an option for text choices when I look at the combo box properties. Basically, I want to click the drop-down and see images (clip-art basically) to choose from instead of text choices. Thank you for the help.

Yeah, unfortunately, that isn't an option for the people will be using this form. I really need to know if there is a way to have 1 text box that I can alter line spacing.

Multiple lines in a combo box

I am attempting to create a pdf file for the purposes of filling in information and then printing it out. I have very limited skill with Acrobat 8, basically what I've learned myself, and I run into an issue with my combo boxes. Some of the sentences I have put into the boxes are too long and I have not been able to figure out how to wrap the text, or make it use multiple lines. I need all of my data to show. Can someone explain, in simple terms if possible, how this can be accomplished, or provide an alternative. I have read several posts but have not been able to work out where to start with them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been reading through more forums and I think what you suggested was to have shorter options in the combo box that, when selected, generate the full length sentence into a text field. Is that the basic concept? Here is one of the sentences that is too large for my combo box:
5b. Use Mendel's Law to evaluate monohybrid Punnett Squares for complete dominance, incomplete dominance, codominance, sex-linked, and multiple alleles. (DOK 2)
So I could set up a combo box with 5b in this case. I could then write script in the combo box properties that would cause the sentence to be generated into a text field located beside the combo box. If this is the case I would have to write out script for each one of the number/letter combinations correct?
Just for some background info, I'm attempting to create a lesson plan template (I'm a teacher) that has all the necessary information listed so that I don't have to type it all out every time I do a lesson plan.

Combo Box doesn't persist data insertion settings

Hi,
I'm simply trying to setup a combo box that places the selected label into a destination table cell. I've tried about every combination possible to simply add a data insertion series. Please note, I AM clicking the plus button to add it to the list shown to the left of the settings. Unfortunately, everytime I have the series added and I click away from the selected combo box it loses the settings I just provided.
Has anybody else had these frustrating issues with the combo box component?

The combo box component can be a bit fiddly at times. It would help if you let me know which version of Xcelsius you are using.
In any case if you are simply trying to insert the label to a destination you dont need to bother with the series at all. Try it in this order:
1) Drag a combo box component
2) In combo box properties pane and click on the range select button beside Labels
3) Select the range in your excel sheet that has the labels and click OK
4) Go back to the properties pane and choose Insertion Type: Label
5) Click the range select button beside Destination and select a cell
6) To test it drag a Text -> Label compoent in and point it to the destination cell you selected in step 5.
7) Preview to see if all is in order

Can images be used as selections in a combo box in Acrobat 9 Pro? I only see options for text choices when I look at the combo box properties. Basically, I want to click the drop-down and see images (small logos) from which to choose as opposed to text choices.
I'm grateful for any thoughts on this.

Have a look at the PO sample that ships with Designer. It shows the provinces or states based on the country that you choose. Look in the Designer install folder under EN/Samples/Forms/Purchase Order/Dynamic Interactive

Combo box in "Filter by Custom Properties"

Hi to all,
I create some custom metadata properties properties in order to classifie the documents in KM.
This metadata properties has a set of Allowed Values, so the value is selectable with a combo-box in Detail box of KM.
Now I have to enable the Filter by Custom Properties with the combobox in place of textfields.
How to do?

What you want is not the Filter by Custom Properties but the Filter by Predefined Properties.
In you search options configuration add your properties to the predefined properties list and you'll get your combo-box.
To configure your search options go to:
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Options Set

IPhone SDK - What is the equivalent of a combo box

I have a screen where there are quite a few items which are of the multiple-choice type. In other platforms i use a combo box (pick lists) to do this.
On the iPhone SDK the only thing that comes close is the UIPicketView which is ugly IMHO. it takes too much real estate and too heavy.
Is this is the only control available now?
Also does the UIPicker come with an associated control which will launch the picker? What i mean is on other platforms and on the web there is a text field with a button with a down arrow next to it. Clicking either on the text field or the down arrow drops the list down. Is there a similar control on the iPhone which when clicked launches the picker OR do i have to create a button or a custom view which will launch the picker?

I do not believe there is an equivalent of -D in the DB JVM, a possible solution is:
Load a properties file into the DB using Loadjava, then open this file from your Java code using Properties.load(), then iterate the properties calling System.setProperty().

Do you talk about beeing able to search documents on a specific property ?
Then you have to :
1) create a search iView
2) create a search option set

3) in the search option set you created, define the parameter "Allowed Predefined Properties" with the property you want the search to be able to work. Note that the property has to be flaged as "Indexable"
Note that the property will only be visible after the index ran once, with data for that property

LOV's in form combo box - how to change font size?

Greetings:
I've a table generated form (custom vs. tabular), with a combo-box field that fills with a LOV's that has as it's visible data, a rather long concatenated string. Therefore, this field makes the entire form rather wide when the LOV's contains a long string (as returned from the SQL that gathers the data).
I've tried using the FONT tag in the 2nd tab (Form wizard) for custom layouts; that didn't work.
Anyone have ideas for decreasing the font size of the LOV's? Else, I'll have to leave-out some of the info concatenated on that string.

Hi,
Changing the font size and other properties like font color, width, height, etc.. of the form elements can be achieved by using Cascading Style Sheet (CSS).
It cannot be changed using <FONT> tag.
In Portal, one can add the CSS attribute to the HTML tags in the custom layout of the form. But adding the CSS attribute to FORM elements (Input, select..)is not possible through Form wizards.
However, this can be achieved by creating a form through the Dynamic Page. In this case you have to define your whole form.

Cant make a list/combo box that enters a different value to what you chose

Hi Any help will be very much apreciated,
Iv been turning my timesheet into a P.D.F form for filling out it started as an excell spread sheet and iv bassicialy just put txt boxs over the fields that need filling in and if made the "total" box add up all the hours so its great so far
but the problem i have is for the Premises number section i want to be able to give the user a selection of all the properties but have a number entred into the actual fields for example... you chose "smiths road sainsburys" from a list but the job number "1234" is entred into the form for printing/sending

If I understand what you want, you can use a text box in addition to a combo box for this. For each item in the combo box, set its export value to the number you want. Then in the text box that will display the number, use the following custom Calculate script:
event.value = getField("combo1").value;
Replace "combo1" with the name of the combo box.

Combo box retaining selected value?

Hi,
I have a requirement to display a value based on a selection in a combo box. This is a training company and we wish to view the number of people booked onto a selected course.
I am using a web service to bring the data into Xcelsius in two columns - 'Course' and 'no of people'.
I can get the combo box to read the list of courses, but when the data from the web service refreshes, the combo box reverts back to the default selection.
Is there any way to avoid this? I have just downloaded Xcelsius SP1, in case that's relevant.

Any progress since the last post? There really shouldn't be a reset of the component state based on the input of data to the Excel sheet. I don't have any WS with multiple row/column output, so I'm having difficulty testing that scenario. I've tried with QaaWS, which should be roughly the same in that regard; with a QaaWS I'm having no troubles.
Outside chance: Do you have Behavior > Common > Selected Item bound to one of the WS output cells? That might reset the component state.
Another idea: Use a Trigger Cell or Connection Refresh Button instead of Refresh Every, if it really is a bug. This will prevent the connection from refreshing and resetting your component. It sounds like your WS doesn't have Input Value filtering and isn't volatile data, so Refresh Every is unnecessary for your usage. A Trigger Cell or Connection Refresh button will refresh the WS just once, for the initial access.
Source Data: It's found in the properties sheet under General > Data Insertion > Insertion Type > Source Data.

create a data block of emp table through wizard
create its table view and show 10 records
go to datablock i consider its name "emp" datablock properties
in Where clause condition specify deptno = : my_combo_box;
now go to combo box when item changed event

In edit mode, can't select specific options in combo box

I need to edit options in a combox box. When I click on the option I want to edit, it's actually reflected in the combo box, but the option I selected doesn't stay highlighted for editing. The highlight jumps to a different option. This is consistent, but not all options jump. I can't edit many of the options. Using Acrobat 9 Pro.
Any suggestions?

For the most part, A5 and A9 field editing process is the same. Editing the combox box properties is EXACTLY the same. Open the combo box field properties, select the options tab. Click on the option you want to change. The text shows up in the upper window. Edit the text. Save the edited option. It goes to the bottom, Then run it up to where it goes in the list and delete the prior option. In Acrobat 9 (on two machines in our office) the item you click on does not stay selected. The job at hand has a list of 33 options, some stay selected, some do not and are impossible to select...even to delete.
In Acrobat 5, this same process works perfectly.
I'm quite sure that anyone serious (aka trying to make money) about Acrobat production keeps a copy of A5 on hand. Try setting tab order in V9 on a 900 field form that requires a mix of column and row ordering. Then go to the window at the left and pick a field and try to run it up to where it goes. The window doesn't even scroll. You have to set your field down, scroll the window and pick it up and go another jag. And then, scroll back down and try to find your place to pick up the next field. In A5, you simply click the fields on the form in the order you want them. 10 minutes vs. 2 hours.
This is not "just fine".
