Command Line in a Web Bowser

Does anyone know of (open source) software that would allow me to access my computer via command line through a web browser? I would like to be able to control some features of my iMac from remote locations PCs without an SSH clients.

You could try installing Webmin on your Mac.
It has a web based command line interface.

How to pass command line arguments to Web Start appclient?

Hi,
I would like to pass arguments to appclient, but "javaws" unable to do that.
Do I have to overwrite the JNLP? I use Sun Appserver 9.0, it creates JNLP on the fly!!!

Hi, MB.
If you are talking about the automatic Java Web Start support for launching app clients in GlassFish, you can pass the equivalent of command line arguments using the query string of the URL you use to launch the app client.
Briefly, use
http://host:port/client-path?arg=first-arg&arg=second-arg& ...
specifying the argument values in the order that you want them passed to the client.
The GlassFish server will do the right thing and generates the correct JNLP so your arguments are passed to the app client.
The GlassFish developer's guide http://glassfish.dev.java.net/nonav/javaee5/docs/AS91DG.pdf discusses this and all aspects of the Java Web Start support. You can also take a look at this blog entry http://blogs.sun.com/quinn/entry/command_line_arguments_and_properties that focuses on how to pass arguments.
Since this technique deals with argument passing in the URL, it works no matter how you launch the app client: a URL in a browser, the javaws command, etc.

What stage during the instructions are you encountering problems. Can you provide the error details if any?
The 10.1.3 iHAT is only Web based using Flash at the client for displaying compopnents. Unlike the old iHAT, there is not thick client provided to invoke from the command line.

Pass dynamic Command line arguments

Hi,
I tried to pass dynamic command line argument to Web start using the method :
"javaws URL -D foo -D bar"
as explained in the "Unofficial JWS/JNLP FAQ" that " You can pass your own system properties to your app using -D switch ....", but I got the following error at the start;
error occurred while launching/running the application.
Category: Invalid Argument error
Too many arguments supplied: {http://...URL/my.jnlp, -Did=123 }
p.s. I already added the"<property name='' value=''/> in the <resourse>, and modified the main class to get the parameter using System. getProperty();
Did anyone try to this method before? What's wrong of this?

and in the main class "GUIFrame", i use System.getProperty("id") t get the parameter, if I hardcode the value of the "id" in this jnlp file and use javaws URL, everything's fine, but not the "javaws URL -Did=value" which will return the error as mentioned.

ACS v5.3 (user command line interface)

We have lost the user/pass of command line interface of our ACS, but we can access by Web Interface with all the privileges.
We are trying create one user from web interface for the command line interface, but I don´t find the manner of do it.
I create one user in <system Administration < Accounts with all roles, but this user doesn´t work in command line interface.
Is possible to create one user for command line interface from web interface?

Complete these steps to reset the CLI administrator account.
1. Insert the ACS 5.x Recovery DVD into the DVD drive of ACS.
 2. Reboot the ACS 5.x.
 The console displays:
 “Welcome to Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Recovery - CSACS 1121”
 3. To boot from hard disk press
 Available boot options:
[1] Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Installation (Keyboard/Monitor)
[2] Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Installation (Serial Console)
[3] Reset Administrator Password (Keyboard/Monitor)
[4] Reset Administrator Password (Serial Console)

4. To reset the administrator password, at the system prompt, enter 3 if you are using a keyboard and video

Hiding a web item through the command line URL

We use the Web API and command line processing heavily to pass in different filter values, variable values, data providers, etc. to our web reports. I had a requirement within a given area to launch our web reports with the Navigation block visible on the web template. In our commonly used 'default' web template, we currently allow the users to switch this item on/off once they are in the report, but we always have it come up Hidden initially.
My question is this: is there some trick to getting a web item property changed dynamically at execution time from Hidden=X to Hidden= ? I have tried numerous attempts to format a URL to change this behavior, but have been unsuccessful. A sample would be: &ITEM=GR6&MULTI=X&HIDDEN= --> this is intended to make all items with 'GR6' in the name unhidden. But in my case, it ends up making more web items visible than I want. Even specifying the Item name directly does not help.
I have also tried applying it in conjunction with a command sequence from the Web API docs. Is there a particular command that this has to go with (i.e. LDOC? RESET_WEB_ITEM? etc.)? We have a button on the web template that issues the command <SAP_BW_URL ITEM='GR6' MULTI='X' HIDDEN=''> when clicked -- this works fine. How do I apply the same type of logic to the initial URL within the command processing?
Any help would be appreciated. I know that I can resolve this by just creating a copy template with this web item set to Visible instead of Hidden at the launch. I was just thinking I could reuse the main web template and control it through the URL.

I'm trying to implement Tobias Kaufmann's How To Paper Web Printing with Excel.
Before calling the respective Abap classes from my web template, I want to hide the web item Hierarchical Filter Selection as this one comes out ugly when downloaded to Excel. So what I'm doing is, I first hide the Filter Selection and then call the Abap classes.
Here is the coding that I am using:

Error while exporting webi reports using BIAR command line tool.

We are trying to export webi objects to a biar file using the biar command line tool, biarengine.jar in XI 3.0. We are using the query select * from ci_infoobjects where si_kind='webi'.
We are getting an error "unable to create plugin object".
Export of all other objects is going through fine.
Any ideas?

Sun Web Server 6 to 7 Command Line Migration - Syntax Question

I have used the GUI-based migration tool in a development environment and it works flawlessly. However, in prod environments I cannot use the GUI as a matter of policy. In reading the 6x to 7x migration guide, the following example is included for command-line based migrations:

In looking at my 6 and 7 web server instances, I cannot locate a password file or the rcfile. Is the password file optional? Do you have to create one or does the server generate this for you? Also, what is the rcfile and where would I find it?

As a rule, any option mentioned b/w [ and ] is optional.
Both password-file and rcfile are provided to avoid any prompts by the CLI.
For example if the password-file is provided (with the passwords) then the CLI will not prompt for the passwords. If not, the CLI will prompt for passwords.
In the rcfile you may set variables for path to the password file, user name, standard option values like config name, vs name, etc.

ILOM - Command line OK but no web access

On a SUN FIRE X4100 M2, we have command line access to the ILOM but the ILOM's web UI does not respond. Is this something that can be turned on or off, or is there a hardware problem with the SP? If it needs to be turned back on, what is the command to do that?

We have a requirement wherein we wanted to manage the start and stop of web application without using the weblogic server console.
If I stop the web application from the console it shows the web application status as unavailable. I want to retrieve the status of the web application that is shown in the console from a command line utility or thru a java program.
Any sample program or a command line utility will be very very helpful.
Waiting for your earlier response. I understand from other source of information that WLST is the way to go. If I can get some source code for the same will be REALLY appreciated.

GUI Applications unable to use command line tools

Hi All-
I've searched, but I can't find a thread about this one, so...
On OS 10.4.5:
Whenever I use a GUI app that wants to use a command line tool (e.g. curl, df, java), the app fails giving an error message to the effect of "unable to find curl" or the like. It is as if the GUI cannot find my unix $PATH.
Examples:
-- Eclipse refuses to launch, because it appears to use "java xxxxxxx" to launch.
-- Automator fails to run certain Safari actions because they use curl to navigate web pages.
-- Carbon Copy Cloner fails to launch, because it can't find a tool (df, IIRC) to read drive/volume info
Possibly relevant details:
-- I can use the tool in question from the command line, so they are present, and in my $PATH, but the GUI can't find them.
-- I recently moved from an old G4 to a relatively new G5, and had issues migrating files, so I eventually just copied my entire home directory from the old machine to the new, replacing the freshly created one on the new machine. I feel like that missed something that tells the GUI where your $PATH is, or some other link between GUI and command line.
-- I created a new user, and that user does not experience the same troubles. This adds to my suspicion that it is account/PATH related.
Any help anyone can give it greatly appreciated.

Did you by any chance create an evironment.plist file? It is located in ~/.MacOSX/ If you don't know about it or don't know to look (.MacOSX is normally invisible), try this:
In Finder.app, in the "Go" menu select "Go to Folder..." (shift-command-G), type ~/MacOSX in the text field and hit OK, the finder should then open a window or complain.
If it opens a window and you find in it a file named environment.plist move that file to the desktop and try your applications. Do they work as advertized? Try again after logging in/out if things don't work. Do they work now?
Whatever hapens, tell us more...
