Common Services and device removal

Hello group,
Just joined our new Ciscoworks server to our ACS server per the documentation and everything went fine except for the device import from LMS to ACS. Anyway, I have gone through and added a bunch of our devices to ACS manually and now they show up in CS, RME, etc. However, there is now a disproportionate amount of devices that are not in ACS versus devices in ACS.
My question is simply, can I remove those devices that are listed as "Not configured in ACS"? I tried to use the dcrcli command from the LMS server, but I get an error resembling a permission denied. Is a purge of devices possible?
Many thanks in advance,
AJ Schroeder

Here is the error that I get when trying to remove devices from the dcrcli command (this is with the local admin account):
Exception in thread "main" com.cisco.nm.dcr.DCRException: Authorization Failed

        at com.cisco.nm.dcr.DCRcli.start(Unknown Source)
        at com.cisco.nm.dcr.DCRcli.main(Unknown Source)
I also tried with the system identity account and got rejected as well:

Hope this helps,

  • SSL Accelerated Service and device groups

I have a need to set up SSL accelerated services on a data center WAE and one edge WAE. In reading through the Cisco Wide Area Application Services SSL Application Optimiser Deployment Guide (2010), it states that best practice is to create an SSL device group and configure the SSL service and generate the keys through that group.
Simple question:  Should only the data center WAE be placed in that group, or should also the edge WAE be in the group?  The devices are running 4.3.3.

Only the data center wae's need to be placed in the SSL device group.

  • LMS 4.1 Common Services and RME Question

    Hello,
we are using Cisco LMS 4.1 and we going to deploy Cisco Security Manager 4.2 as well. Can CSM and LMS share RME and Common Services?
    thanks in advanced
    alex

No that is not foreseen, so not supported. Use 2 servers.
What can be done is having the DCR's in sync by having a common service as master and the other as slave.

  • Need urgent help with service and file removal

    Hi,
I need a powershell script that would stop a windows service ,wait for 2 mins, delete a particular file from C:\documents&settings and then start the service again. Is this possible ?
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply chen. May be i was not clear in my query
I plan this because a particular file of configmgr is corrupt on workstations. So the service has to be stopped first before the deletion. I need to run this on many computers remotely. The import file will have the machines that need the script to be run.
The script has to run all the four steps on the machines based on the import file and export to a file with the results. How can i modify ?
The sequence will be as follows
    Stop-Service -Name BITS -Verbose
    Start-Sleep -Seconds 120
    Remove-Item -Path C:\documents&settings\***** -Force -Verbose
    Start-Service -Name BITS -Verbose

  • Apple Mobile Device service and Ipod Service both necessary?

Do I need both Apple Mobile Device service and Ipod Service running on my Windows XP machine in order to use an iPod Touch Gen4?  I have to restart both of these services to get iTunes 11.0.4.4 to recognize it.  I wonder if they conflict with one another.

    Both need to be running.

  • Problems with adding a new device in Common Services

    Hello,
I have the following problem: I need to add a new device in my Cisco Works. What I do is I go to Common Services >> Device and Credentials >> Device Management. There I click "Add" and I add the new device with the corresponding credential set.
Then, in the RME >> Job Management >> RME Jobs I can see a new job created (
CDA:CDA job due to Device Add. ) because of this addition but this jobs stays always in status Running and it never finishes. Most probablt because of that this newly added device never actually appears in the RME so I cannot operate with it - deploy software, save configs, etc.
I did this test a few times and all the times this is the result.
I tought that it might be a firewall issue blocking some protocol needed for the communication, as SNMP, telnet or something else. But if I go to Decice Center and I select this newly added device (which there appears with the question mark icon, not with the right device icon) I can see all the information for it, like Detailed Device Report, etc.
Then I noticed that in the RME Jobs section I have some more jobs that are like running forever - "
CredEditCDA: CDA job due to Credential Edit".
See the attached image for details:
So, my question is what might be the reason for this behaviour and what can I do in order to unblock these jobs and add my device normally?
    What I use is:
    Windows Server
    LMS 3.2
    RME 4.3.0
    Thank you in advance,
    Vesko

    OK,
first of all, have you intergrated lms with ACS ? - check in common services - server - security - single-server mgmt - local user policy setup.
If this is in ACS, check if the newly added devices is in ACS... Check if this devices is reflecting in common services itself...make sure that the device type is selected properly ???
Next do a snmp test in device center for this machine..how would you do this --" in device center, select the device, do a management to station and select the snmpv2 and ok it" you will get if snmp is failing or not...As you mentioned it is coming in question mark..this is because the correct device type is not selected in common services.
Do an update inventory & archive and check the status..

  • Apache Tomcat error on common services (Device Update)

I have installed lms 3.2 on server 2008 , and when I click on device update in software center I recieve an error

    Hi,
Kindly check if you have CSCtj20850-0.info at location CSCOpx\setup\patch
Try this workaround too as it look like rme map files got corrupted :-
    Navigate to -->
    CSCOpx/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/xms/psu/maps
Backup these two files (rme*.map) at another location and finally delete them from this location. You need to stop the daemon manager to be able to delete this files with the command net stop crmdmgtd.
Now, run the following command two command, rememer they are one line command :-
    1>
    set NMSROOT=%CWMIBDIR%\..\..\..
    2>
    %NMSROOT%\lib\jre\bin\java -classpath %NMSROOT%\lib\jre\lib;%NMSROOT%\lib\classpath;%NMSROOT%\objects\log4j\1.1.3\log4j.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\shared\lib\MICE.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\shared\lib\NATIVE.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\shared\lib\jdom.jar;%NMSROOT%\www\classpath;%NMSROOT%\lib\classpath\servlet.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\webapps\cwhp\WEB-INF\classes com.cisco.nm.xms.psu.packagemgmt.map.CreateMaps %NMSROOT%\www\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\pkgs\rme
The above workaround should generate the rme*.map files again and then it should work fine.
Now, start the daemon manager and wait for 20 minutes before logging back to CiscoWorks.
Note :- Its important to backup (rme*.map) before deleting them.

  • Common Services device management/discovery

I use the Edit Identity option to change the "Display Name" from an IP to a station name, it is overwritten when a discovery has been done. I have checked the discovery settings and tried using the update DCR Display name setting to prevent this from happening, but it makes no difference.
Is there something i am missing? This is on LMS 3.2

    Hi ,
In LMS 3.2 there is one more discover settings  called Scheduled Discovery .
Common service > Device and Credentials >Device Discovery >Discovery Schedule.
Please check the settings there and see if there is a problem.
For more information on Common Service >Discovery , you can always refer this document written by Joseph Clarke sir :

  • Common Services Device Update

I have just completed an Install of LMS 3.2
I have tried to apply the latest device update package the download site for DFM.
However I get the following message "consitency check for base package DFMSharedUpdates."
When I look at the Common Services, Software Center, Device Update ; all the device type counts are zero except for CiscoView and Resource Manager Essentials. I would have thought that the DFM section would have a value other than Zero.
How do I apply the Base Package for DFM and what is the file location.
    Thanks Mark

Make sure you also download and install the MDF update for Common Services.  In fact, check the boxes next to RME, Common Services, DFM, CiscoView and Campus Manager.  Install all of the available device updates for each application.  When done, you should have non-zero device counts for RME, DFM, and CiscoView.

  • I lost my iPad 3, using location services and know exactly where there device at.  I called police, they show up at that house

I lost my iPad 3, using location services and know exactly where there device at.  I called police, they show up at that house, owner denied he doesn't have it.  I even show officers on my iPhone where the missing iPad at and send message, face time, etc.  But officers said owner don't let's they go inside the house, they can't help me to recover it???!!!
Are officers doing enough or they didn't do it enough to help me recover my missing iPad?
    Thanks...

I don't think Apple's Find My [xxx] has been legally tested as constituing probable cause to issue a search warrant by the DA, so the cops can't go in without an invite. You'll need a good lawyer to go in and force new jurisprudence to occur. By which time, the iGadget will be long gone from the place.

  • Importing devices into QPM/Common Services

    Hi,
We are in the process of installing QOS Policy Manager and I am struggling with a simple way to import devices into Common Services 3.2.  The interface and the documentation is lacking to say the least.  If it helps, we have a separate installation of Ciscoworks LMS 4.1.  If I can run an export from that and than import into Common Services, I think that would be the easiest way to get all of my devices.
We use Solarwinds Orion for network monitoring, and I was hoping this application had something similar where you could do a device discovery via scanning a subnet via SNMP.  If this is available, I don't see where to set this up.
I did manually add a device, and I thought about exporting it and building a csv file from the headers from that file, but we have so many devices that I feel that would be very time consuming to build that list.
    Any suggestions?

It's been a while since I've had hands-on with one but Common Services 3.2 is part of LMS 3.1.
It has a discovery tool and the option to import devices via the cli using the dcrcli utility. See the link for using discovery in LMS 3.1 here.
You'll probably find it an exercise in frustration though. the old LMS will not recognize many of your more modern routers and thus QPM will be unable to send policies to them.
You'd be much better off using a more modern toolset like deploying configurations using NCM if you're an Orion shop or with templates in LMS 4.x. SolarWinds' NTA does a nice job of querying the CBQoS MIB to give you visibility into what's going on with QoS in your network.

  • Common Services can't start Device Discovery

    Hello All!
I've just installed the application and I'm getting a lot of trouble trying to add a device either manually or via automatic discovery to my monitored devices...
Whenever I try to add a device with automatic discovery, I add the credentials (for a CUCM 7) and then go to schedule, select the IP for seed device and then run the discovery... I see an error that goes like:
    <
An exception occurred while scheduling a discovery. Make sure System Identity user is configured with full privilege.
    or
Please make sure that a schedule is specified and that the jrm process is running properly. If this problem persists, please restart jrm process by executing the following commands,
    pdterm jrm
    pdexec jrm

Then, I tried to go and Add the Device using the same credentials and got an error like:
    <
    Cannot add device.
    See the
    NMSROOT/.../TIS/DeviceManagement.log
    file for more information.
    >
I'm attaching this file so you can take a look...
I've restarted services (and even the server) tried to reinstall application but couldn't make it work... Have anyone seen anything like this? Is there something obvious I'm missing? This is the first time I mess around with an NMS product, I'm more related to Voice products, so I'm totally lost here...
    Greetings...

    Hi,
Without looking it sounds like a permissions related condition.
    1) What is the OS you are installing on?
    2) What version of software are you using?
    3) Please attach the install log (found in C: on windows)
    4) Please attach the output of 'pdshow -brief' at a command prompt
    If Windows:
    1) Ensure all 3rd party applications are shutdown/disabled when installing
    2) Ensure you are using the *local* Administrator account
    3) Ensure you meet the base requirements
    Thanks
