Communication Breakdown

Hi All
I have issues with one of our xserves.
First symptom was an ARD connection that came up with only a black screen. I could however at that time ssh into it.
Next attempt at ARD would time out.
Backed up our databases from it (via ssh and rsync) and connected ok with server admin.
Checked for updates (ARD and most recent security update) and ran them.
On restart server admin could not communicate.
Tested ssh and connection was refused.
Ping was ok and returned no packet loss.
Connected with Server Monitor and it says everything is ok but I notice no graph on the network monitor.
Connected via ARD to my office admin machine and attempted ssh from there. No joy.
Tested Filemaker Remote to FM Server on that machine. No server shows up.
What's confusing is that one ip (server monitor) on the same interface is ok but the other ip number is only responding to ping.
DNS server on the network is fine and the name for this xserv resolves both directions properly.
There is a second xserve in the same cabinet and all works fine with that machine so it sort of rules out connection over the vpn (router based) as an issue.
The only other unique thing about this machine is that it runs MYOB server.
Only unusual thing during the day was one LDAP Hosted Home user had a kernel panic while connected to a bank web site and was scrolling down a page. They restarted their machine and logged in ok but MYOB said they still had the file open and wouldn't let them reconnect to it. (This has happened before and resolved by ARD connection, Activity Monitor and killing the MYOB process and restarting it)
I'll have to go in in the morning and check whether its a dud ethernet cable and connect a monitor or shutdown and restart from the front panel.
Anyone have any clues where I need to start looking for a fix ?
Kind Regards
Eric

  • Troubles with communications between Deck and FTP

There appears to be a problem in the communication between the deck and the Final Cut Pro system. Audio and Video signal does to not appear to waver in anyway.
In FCP Log and Capture mode, the incoming or deck Time Code display briefly flickers/scrambles, which is simultaneous to a flicker between "VTR OK" and "No Communication" in the Comm Status display. The FCP system interprets this a new tape being inserted into the deck and stops playback.
This communication breakdown is random, as multiple playbacks over the same stretch of tape result in varying stoppages, and there is never any kind of flicker in the timecode display on the deck.
When I attempt to "Capture Now" from a "Non-Controllable Device", the FCP gives a warning that it cannot digitize when a device is not chosen in my capture settings, even though a device is most certainly chosen.
In case the "Custom Easy Set Up" had become corrupted, I created a new "Easy Set Up" that resulted in the exact same outcome. I have also unconnected all cables, found no broken or bent pins, and re-connected the cables but to no avail.
FCP Version 5.1.4, the deck is JVC HD-050U, and the serial port is R-422 through a Kona Interface.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

check in your Kona control panel to see what the Kona is seeing on input as far as video is concerned. That deck has component HD out, no HDSDI. take a look at
    http://www.convergent-design.com/CDProductsHDConnectMI.htm
for future continued use of that deck. check your deck that it is enabled for 422 control and that Timecode is auto (LTC and VITC) also verify LTC and VITC is selected in your device control preset. My guess is your kona is trying to see standard def component and the deck isn't set to downconvert.
I normally bring in the camera and bump up to DVCProHD 720 via HD-SDI w clone code, and work with DVCProHD

  • What's the right way to get in touch with devs? arch-general list?

tl;dr version: skip to the questions at the bottom
Today I saw an unfortunate thing happen during the Bug Day proceedings. It surprised me to see it, because the knowledge needed to avoid the problem was made available in advance. Bear with me as I tell a story, so I can point out an example of what looks like a communication problem between users and devs.
A while back, I sent mail to arch-general giving advance notice of upcoming releases (within the next two days) for some xiph.org software (libogg, libvorbis, libao, and vorbis-tools). No one responded to it. That's not really a problem - after all, there wasn't any work to be done yet, since the releases weren't finalized yet.
When the releases happened, I flagged them out of date as usual, and provided extra details to avoid difficulty with the upgrades (whether rebuilds were needed, and which upgrades depended on which other upgrades). One package belonged to Snowman, two to Tobias K, and the last (and most difficult) to Hugo D. I knew Hugo was no longer a dev, and later saw that Eric was going inactive also. (I don't know Tobias K's status.) That's probably part of the problem - this info getting lost since it wasn't sent to the same devs who later did the upgrades. (I guess the "multiple owners" feature should help alleviate this problem.)
A few days back, I sent another mail to arch-general. I admit that I was nagging a bit, though I do believe that I was contributing helpful info - mostly the same as I put in the flagging messages. Again, no one responded. Not exactly nice, but again, not wrong either. You'll get to it when you get to it, and I can (and did) do these rebuilds for myself. Note that I'm NOT complaining about a week or two lag in updating packages - that's perfectly reasonable, and I'd be a huge jerk to make noise about that.
Today, bash was doing upgrades to close bugs, with help on IRC from Pierre and wonder. One of those packages was libvorbis, and he wondered if a rebuild would be needed. I knew for sure that it wasn't, and told him so, which he acknowledged with a "thank you". He then went on to duplicate my research, which felt a little odd to me. In the end, this package was upgraded perfectly fine.
The other package he upgraded was vorbis-tools. Unfortunately, building that against the old libao in [extra] generates an incomplete package, missing ogg123. When I saw this problem, I opened a bug, and had it handled exactly as I thought it should have been. The end result was fine.
Now, the point here is that I had identified the dependency of the new vorbis-tools on the new libao in several of my previous messages, and reading those could have saved some trouble. It's reasonable that no one working this on IRC today saw my flagging messages, since I understand that those only go to the maintainer. However, my second mail to arch-general was definitely available, and based on what happened today, no one it would have been useful to, actually read it. That's a communication breakdown, and that means somebody did something wrong. It's entirely likely that it was me, and I want to know the solution.
I've always believed that arch-general is the best way for an ordinary user to get in touch with "the devs" as a body. Many devs don't go on IRC, and it's a bit too busy in there most of the time anyway. Many devs also don't hang out here on the forums, and that's easy to understand as well, given how high-volume they are now. The bug tracker generally gets excellent dev responses, in terms of both timeliness and quality, but it's not appropriate for communications that are not bugs. All devs seem to read arch-dev-public, but users like myself of course can't post there.
So arch-general has to be it. In fact, I always thought that was the intended purpose of that list. Until recently, it was a low-volume list. Lately, it's grown quite a bit, and is starting to resemble these forums: general tech support questions (some of them stupid), users plugging their own creations, and just chatter. (There are a small handful of posters accounting for a great deal of the noise.) I keep wanting to tell them to take it to the forums, but restrain myself as I'm not really sure if I'm right about their posts not being appropriate for the list. I'd leave the list, as it now annoys me, but then I can't reply to things posted on arch-dev-public. (Probably what I'll really do if this keeps up is stop using [testing], so I can do away with both of those lists. Oh well.)
    Now, the questions here:
    - Are devs also dropping out of arch-general because of the increasing noise, and is that why my second mail got lost?
    - Are the "noisy" posters abusing the list, and should they be told to go to the forums instead?
    - Is arch-general actually intended as the primary way for users to talk to devs?
    - If so, how to fix it so it works that way again?
    - If not, where should I have been sending messages like the ones I linked to in this post?

I think almost every dev is on arch-general, so that is the place to contact the group in general.  Specific points can probably be emailed to the dev involved, if one is identifiable and if the bug tracker is not a better place (bug reports to my email get ignored).
I think the whole problem here is that there is really no dev in charge of that package.  So your emails were probably seen then skipped over by all devs thinking not my problem...  (I know that is true for me).   Then Andrea noticed an "orphan" package that needed updated and went ahead with it without connecting it to your previous emails, which is unfortunate.
Now our maintainer backend is fixed, hopefully we can get all the orphan packages adopted out, or at least know if we need to bring on new people to maintain them.  That way, there should always be someone who information about specific packages should be sent to.

  • After upgrading to Snow Leopard, Canon MX870 doesn't print text...just images

After upgrading to Snow Leopard (yes I know I'm slow to upgrade) my Canon MX870 isn't printing text. It is printing images but the quality if horrendous because it's not printing the black ink.
Here's what I've done so far
Installed the latest drivers for Snow Leopard from Canon
Cleaned the heads of the printer
Added new ink to all cartridges
Run printing tests (nozzle print patterns)...all good
Reset my printers in the Print Fax Preferences and added in the printer again
    Numerous restarts
Now I'm at a loss for what else to do. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
BTW, printer is connected via USB not wireless.

OK well I can see now that all of my files are present on the hard drive (mybook) only they are not showing up in aperture. It seems that there has been some sort of communication breakdown between the two.
As I said several files are missing and or corrupt in my aperture library. I'm wondering if there is a way to rebuild the library without using the vault technique? Does this make sense to anyone?
I was able to go into finder - mybook - aperture library - show contents and see that all my raw files at least are there. Now I just need to get aperture to recognize them.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Chris

  • Macbook DVD burn problem

I've a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. I just now tried to burn a DVD following the instructions in Mac Help, and it whirred away fine for a few minutes then I got the following error message:
After this message the drive whined and whirred for a couple of minutes more, then self-ejected. The disk had been written to, but turned out to be unreadable so was thrown into the bin. The DVD+RW was straight out of a sealed packet and other discs from that packet worked fine on PCs.
Can anyone advise as to what might be the cause of this error? I don't want to keep wasting discs, if only for environmental reasons. The Macbook itself is some 3 years old but I don't use the CD drive much and when I have done, for reading, it's functioned fine. Is this more likely to be a hardware or an OS error?
This is not the first time, if it is the OS at fault, that I've had trouble burning discs from Mac software, but I can't go into details as otherwise my post will again be deleted for not being "constructive". I'm getting to the stage where to back up my Macbook I'll have to copy to a USB stick (which is pretty slow given USB data rates) then burn a disc on a Windoze PC.
    TIA from the hamster

Sorry, I've just noticed that you wrote:
"I can't see your error message.  I don't know if apple removed it or what, so I can't really comment on the error."
I included a shot of the error message in the original post as a bitmap, which is still there as far as I can see. In text form, the error message read:
"The disc can't be burned because because [sic] communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error 0x80020022)"
Which is better than many error messages, but doesn't indicate what might cause the communications breakdown. Plainly the data flow to the drive was interrupted or slowed too much for the drive. I'll look at the disc diagnostics as you suggest.
Googling the error message came up with quite a few results, and it looks like this is a common problem but with no clear solution:
    Superdrive error
    Apple support
    Apple support (2)
And yes, I suppose I should have Googled before posting, but I'd still not have found an answer. I'll try a DVD R rather than an RW and see if that makes a difference - I know that RW disks can be iffy for some hardware and OSs.

  • IOS 5.1.1 update BAD for General Motors factory-issued Bose Stereo Computers

Yesterday I could listen to my music in my Cadillac CTS via the GM factory USB cable that plugs into the factory-installed 40GB Bose touchscreen stereo. Today, all I did was update my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1, fire up my car, plug the ol' iPhone into the ol' USB as usual and, now, the stereo computer that has recognized it since I bought it (many updates ago) CANNOT recgonize it...
The GM/Bose stereo computer scans the drive and reads it as  "Source Unknown".
Please Apple...  HELP ME.  .1 is ruining my entertainment experience.  A communication breakdown between such commercial juggenauts (You >> << Bose >> <<GM) cannot stand.  We love our phones, we love our cars, and it goes without saying that we need to rock out BIG TIME with our phone in our cars.
I love you with all my heart, Apple, and that is why I implore you: fix this fast for me and the millions who own GM cars who have not yet noticed this update falt yet... but will.
And to all you good people looking for answers and asking good questions, I ask you to chime in here for Apple to do this quick tweak to 5.1.1; so we can have our cake and eat it too, just the way we like it.

On the iPhone when plugged into the USB check the
music app.  It may be defaulting to Bluetooth playback
and you need to manually select the dock connector
    interface.
This is what happens on my Microsoft Sync system.
Phone functions are done via Bluetooth.  So, if I start
the car up with Bluetooth on, the phone pairs but defaults
to Bluetooth audio (Sync) for the music.  I need to select
the music app on the phone and select dock connector
    playback.
Your issue may be similar, it may not.  Worth a try anyway.

  • Windows Grouping for less than 64 processors

I have a machine just built out as Windows 7 Enterprise with two Intel E5-2697 v3 processors on board, each packing 14 cores. However, the system-level environment variable NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS is returning a value of 14 instead of the expected 28. When
using the get-wmiobject cmdlet in Powershell, it correctly identifies 28 logical cores, so either this environment variable isn't set via WMI as I'm under the impression is the case, or there's some kind of communication breakdown there.
On top of that, when looking at Processor Affinity for any process running on the machine, I'm seeing two groups, despite the fact that Windows shouldn't be grouping below 64 by default. Even after changing the groupsize to 64 via bcdedit.exe, the affinity
options show as the same following the necessary reboot (two groups).
Is there an OS-level problem here? Some breakdown between the hardware and software? Something wrong with how Windows detects this info?

    Hi,
In my opinion, untill now, the problem should be aimed to why these two processor was grouped into two group.
As from the description in this library, they were should be locate at one group:
    Processor Groups: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd405503(v=vs.85).aspx
In addition, %NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS% gives the number processors in the group where cmd.exe is run. This is for compatibility reason. As your current CPU was divided into two group, that's why it lists 14 processor not 28.
You can try to use Coreinfo tool to check your current system CPU information, it would also list the detailed information of processor, such as the Processor Group:

  • Just got "Hung-Up" on by a Customer Representative. Ouch.

To whoever is out there moderating or observing these complaints,
This sort of stung. A customer service representative hung up on me, I think in frustration, not 30 minutes ago.  I found this forum to share complaints, but to what end, I don't know... I've now been a FiOS TV and internet subscriber for a couple years now, I love the actual service, and my wife and I decided to take it with us to our next house.
In the meantime, a couple hiccups arose during the "moving service" process and accessing Video On-Demand.  These came in rapid succession so I decided to brave the notorious customer service experience.
Regarding the VOD (which was updating/in-maintenance) all day, then unexpectedly into the evening when we wanted to watch a movie, I first called customer service who transferred me to tech support.  The guy was nice. I could tell he was genuinely sorry, and sensed the futility of not being able to help me or compensate anything for me.  I gave him the benefit of the doubt, mainly because I felt the transparency he was conveying through his emotions (whether they were fake or not).  Still, I believed him and he said tomorrow I should ask customer service to have my activation fee waived during my move.  He gave me a report ticket number and we said our goodbyes.  But I was not going to call.
The next day, when I saw the confirmation for our service activation date, I noticed it was a day off.  I had distinctly told the representative last week we wanted to transfer service on the 22nd of April, but it was set for the 23rd.  This was to be a self-installation, since FiOS was already set up at the new place and I was just bringing my equipment.  So this time I made the call to see if Verizon could bump up the date, lest we be without service the first day in our new house.  Which is tomorrow.
Customer service representative (who refused to give me her name) answered and I told her first about the date switch.  She tried to have the day changed, but politely informed me that it could not be done.  I politely thanked her and said it's a bit frustrating since we were now paying for a day of service that we were not going to use, but so be it.  Then things got awkward.  I mentioned the VOD issue, how I had spoke with a tech support member earlier, shared my ticket number with her, and asked if I might be able to receive some sort of compensation.  She kept me on hold three times in 10 minute increments to check and see if I had attempted to rent or buy a movie.  I told her I wanted to buy Selma, but because of the VOD maintenance error, I could not even select the film.  There must have been a communication breakdown because she put me on hold each time to check to see if I could be credited for the movie.  I kept explaining to her that I could not select a movie because the VOD was offline.  She kept coming back at me to tell me I can only have a credit for the movie I tried to select, and if it wasn't showing it could not be done.  We were both getting a tad frustrated, but nothing ever escalated to rudeness, until...
She unexpectedly repeats to me twice (paraphrased), "Sir I will not respond to vulgarity."  What. Is. Happening.
Before I could ask what the heck she was talking about, boom.  She hangs up.
Is there a way to hear a recording of this conversation?  Because that's nuts.  I sort of pride myself on giving customer service reps the benefit of the doubt -- I know how annoying the job can be, I know how idiotic customers can act, and I have sympathy as a veteran of hospitality jobs.  But this was unwarranted, a blatant lie to my face, and a figurative slap.
And I still didn't get to watch Selma, or get my activation fee waived.
This is uncharted customer service territory for me.  I've never even joined a forum like this, but what a nice way to vent one's feelings.  Hoping Verizon can just get some nice people to take care of the folks that pay for their service.  It looks like this is our last two years with them...I can't renew a contract here when it feels like this was protocol for her. As if she used the company "vulgarity phrase" to falsely accuse then give an excuse to hang up.  It hurts.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".
Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Q10 remove suggested contacts when composing email

There's an suggested contact with a typo showing up as frequently used when composing any new email, is there a way to remove it? it's causing me to select the wrong one all the time and is bouncing the message (there's an extra "." at the end of the email address.)
I tried to look this answer up but no luck so far.
Please help this is really annoying and causing communication breakdowns between parties.
    Thanks!

Anybody got a solution or workaround for this?
    thanks a million!

  • Flash Player Universal Binary

    Hello,
I recently bought a new imac with intel. when I try to veiw
sites containing flash content i am directed to a macromedia site
    which says i need to
    1. download flash player universal binanry.
    2. replace old plug in by coping new one into same folder as
    old one
this has not worked both plug ins remainin file (and I still
can not access flash) Is it ok to just delete the original plug in?
or is there an uninstall process? Do you think it will work?
    Thanks Shontelle

Antonio, I think we may have a communication breakdown here. lol.
An Intel Binary is for Intel processors only.
A PowerPC Binary is for PowerPC processors only.
A Universal Binary is for both.
Adobe offer an Intel download and a PowerPC download, which would lead one to believe that one is for Intel processors only and one is for PowerPC processors.
However, the Intel download has "UB" in its filename, which would suggest it is a Universal Binary after all, not an Intel binary as the website states.
A Universal Binary and an Intel Binary will run the same on an Intel machine, I was just wondering which one it actually was.

  • Difficulties installing updates, error u44m1i216

I would like to get someone on the phone who knows what Creative Cloud is and how it works!!!  I called 2 days ago and after 2 hours of wasted time, he was still not able to help.  He also connected to my computer and was getting the same error messages that I was.   He told me his supervisor would call back.  Well after 2 days I get a call in the middle of an important call that I was already with.  The message said to call back so I did and      AGAIN HAD TO HANG ON WAITING AND WAITING  for someone to connect.     If I spoke to someone from the U.S. like I did when I ordered it there would not be a COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN.  I am just sick of these problems and being made to wait.
If there was a known problem with creative cloud then why wasn't I told about it and why did this person connect with my computer and then shut it down to restart it without first having me do it.    I am very annoyed and with good reason.

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, let AAM reinstall and try again.

  • How To: Subscriptions Configuration?

I am wondering how others handle this or what people have decided is "best practice" for subscriptions on email alerts.
In SCOM 2007, when a subscription went to multiple people, it was a single email and everyone was included on the alert. In SCOM 2012, it appears an individual email is sent to each subscriber, instead of a single email encompassing all subscribers. Is there
    any way to change that?
If not, what are people doing as a workaround? Is it best to setup distribution groups specific for each subscription? The issue we have run into is one person will get the alert, but not know all the other parties involved, so when they go to update people,
certain persons are being left out and it's causing communication breakdowns. I have a feeling the best/easiest way is to create a distribution group but wanted to reach out to some other people who have the real world experience to see what they are doing
and how it works for them.
    Thank you for your time.
    Geoffrey Orlebeck

    Stefan,
I appreciate your reply. I was thinking more about it from the recipient perspective. One of the things we did with SCOM 2007 was work off the email for quick updates to all relevant parties. With SCOM 2012, each email only lists the single subscriber.
To try and clarify: If I have "[email protected]" and "[email protected]" setup as subscribers for an alert in SCOM 2012, they each get an email from SCOM where they are the sole recipient. Unlike in 2007, where the SCOM 2007 email
would have listed both users on the email. Then they could "Reply All" and include all parties that received that alert to give status updates and/or a quick "I'm working on this", etc.
Does that make more sense? In my head, the distribution group seems to be the only way to make this work, unless there is another setting somewhere in 2012 to make it behave like 2007 where it sends a single collective email with all subscribers.

  • WRE54Gv1 MAC Address Cache Timeout?

This question is geared towards someone from Linksys rather than the community.
Is there a MAC address timeout built into the WRE54Gv1 (firmware v1.06, Sep 30, 2005)? If so, what is it and is there a way to bypass it?
I'm using my WRE54Gv1 with a Squeezebox media player. The Squeezebox is "connected" 24/7 and allows me to stream music from my PC to my living room stereo via 802.11g.
I am having a problem that I have narrowed down to be some sort of a communication breakdown between the Squeezebox and the WRE54gv1. It works fine with a strong signal strength until the Squeezebox sits idle for a significant period of time. Then the Squeezebox seems to lose communication with the WRE54gv1 and attempts to talk directly to my router. The only way to sync the Squeezebox back to the WRE54gv1 is to powercycle the Squeezebox.
This really sounds like some sort of MAC cache problem but I have no visibility so I'm coming here for help.

I'm honestly not sure what you are saying. I know that the WRE54G is setup correctly as I get a very strong signal with two laptops and my Squeezebox when it is operating, and get almost no signal when it is not. To be honest, there are hardly any options to misconfigure.
Can you please elaborate on what - specifically - you believe may be setup incorrectly?
The Squeezebox has a very minimal network configuration as well. I give it an SSID, IP address, subnet mask and gateway and thats it. Its just like setting up a laptop.
I know for a fact that the Squeezebox is correctly talking through the WRE54G. What I do not know is why it stops talking to it and instead talks directly to the router instead. That is the problem that I am attempting to solve.

  • Still No iPhone 5s ordered 9/20

ordered my phone 9/20 never got an email about a delay, called verizon and they told me there was an issue (again never informed me until i called). they assured me the issuer was fixed and money was even taken from my account 10/6 and still have not received an update. Now when i call the automated operator says my order was cancelled when talk to a representative they say my order is still being processed, Yet they still look money from my account. Now I'm talking to a chat person right now as I'm typing this that says my order was canceled on 10/22 but does not now why and i have to call. Again money still taken from my account on 10/6 and never returned even though they say it was canceled. ***. This is unbelievable.

    bkeck,
Same thing happened to me today. The rep that I spoke with could not find anything in the system to indicate how/why the order was cancelled. I had already signed the updated contract and my credit card had more than enough money on it. The rep was polite especially given that I told her upfront that I was an irate and upset customer. Getting told that the only option was to reorder and that the phone would not be shipped until 11/18 was it.
I work anywhere from 40-70 hours a week (adjunct instructor, drive between 500-700 miles a week between 6-7 different schools). I'm teaching more than a full-time faculty member and earning less than what the bottom pay is. Not that this relates back to Verizon, but the phone really was not the phone but a representation. It was reward I was giving myself. I've been waiting since 9/20 when I placed the order. It hurts and I now won't be getting a new phone because what is the point? Most likely as the experts predicted the demand will not catch up until Christmas.
To add salt to the wound. Because my other phone is dying I missed on an interview for another school closer to home. Also I've been excited and shared with others that I would be getting a new iPhone Gold. Now I am going to be greatly embarrassed because I am not going to be able to deliver. In fact just last week one of my students asked if I had received my phone yet because she knew I was looking forward to getting it. Unfortunately we are not the only ones that have experienced this. Read the previous comments and threads.
Verizon needs to fix the communication breakdown. There is obviously either (1) someone going in and deleting orders because the demand is too high or (2) something is seriously wrong with their ordering system. Furthermore, they need to give the reps something more to help appease upset customers such as ourselves. Dangling "free overnight shipping" is not enough. We would have already received "free 2-day shipping." Furthermore if we have been willing to wait for over a month for the phone... ONE DAY will not matter!!!!
I worked several years in customer service. I understand that companies cannot keep all of the customers happy, but small promises and "small carrots" is defiantly not enough. Also while they are just doing their jobs the VZW Moderator replies of "Oh we know you are excited and looking forward to the phone. Please explain the problem and we will help out" responses are not enough. There are people from both sides, we are getting treated as if we are not people because it is the same generated reply over and over and over again. It would be better customer service to actually have one rep follow through and take care of a customer instead of a second rep to come in and reiterate what the first person has says. While they are just doing their jobs, again Verizon needs to take a bit more initiative. They appear to be working top down. They need to go back to the customer service from about 3-4 years ago when it seemed like the reps had a bit more voice and say in making their recommendations. What that will do is open up the flow of communication. Moreover, I would not be surprised if there is a high turn overrate right now for the customer service reps (my opinion, based on observations) because it seems like reps are kept accountable to meeting a "numbers" requirement with their replies instead of a "quality" requirement. The more satisfaction a person has at his or her job the more likely he or she will remain and contribute more to the company. Also the longer the person will stay. By norm or reciprocity a customer service rep will feel good about what he or she does if they have a positive impact on their customers and keep them happy. The rep will also be less likely to experience stress because of upset and irate customers because in turn the customers are kept happy.
I would say that as customers yes we have a responsibility to treat customer service representatives as people too, but it is frustrating when all they got is "free overnight shipping" and getting the same basic replies. It is hard when you are treated impersonally not to respond in kind way. I've already vented by making some strong inappropriate statements to the machine that called back to complete the survey. It is always easier to yell at a machine, but hopefully if someone actually ever listens to the message they will not take it personally.
I am only rambling now because it is good to vent and share my thoughts and perspectives.
    Kindly,
Formerly known as would be owner of a beautiful iPhone 5s, Gold, 64 that was ordered by phone 09/20/2013 and unhappy/depressed in So Cal.

  • UCCX 10.5 - newly created agents can't login to CAD

    Hello,
After upgrading UCM 8.6 to 10.5 and UCCX 8.5 to 10.5 I can't add new agents. I have installed second UCCX and reused CTI and RMCM users, registered CIPC, created end-user, configured IPCC extension and set CIPC in controlled devices on end user and rmcm user. DN is not a shared line. When I try to login to CAD it asks to associate the phone with RM JTAPI provider user. Agents created before upgrade works fine. I see the following traces:

I have tried to disassociate and associate the phone with rmcm user and even rebooted UCCX, how can i troubleshoot this problem furher?
I use IPv4 only, what means line 120654, is it normal?
    Regards,
    Maxim

I have installed second UCCX and reused CTI and RMCM users,
It sounds like the upgrade is irrelevant here, and what we're really troubleshooting is your second UCCX installation which is using the same accounts as your first UCCX installation.
Of course, I've been around long enough to know that communication breakdowns are common, and you may have not meant that.
For example, maybe what you meant was, you added an HA node?  But if not, and you really installed a new instance while reusing the existing credentials, I would suggest creating new app users for your new UCCX and not sharing them.
PS It's very hard for me to read your log snippet with the black background.  Could you edit your post and remove the formatting please?  Thanks.
