Communication cFP and PLC

I have some questions concerning Profibus communication between a Compact Field Point system and a Siemens PLC.
The following hardware is used:
NI cFP 2120 controller
Siemens S7 314 MPI
Has somebody tried to read data from a Siemens PLC over the RS485 ports with profibus?
If yes, could we get the (Siemens) command set so we can try to retrieve data from the PLC (using NI-VISA).
Or has somebody already programmed a solution, could we then have an example of how it has been programmed.
Has somebody solved this problem of communication in a different way? What was the solution and how much time / money did it take.
Hope someone could help me with this problem.

I have not tried communicating with a Siemens PLC before, but I have been able to communicate with a WAGO PLC with LabVIEW by using an OPC Server installed on the PC. Using an OPC server that can communicate with a Siemens PLC should give a similar result. You can get a siemens PLC OPC driver from www.matrikon.com (by purchase). icloud just keeps bringing up my old email address & asking for my old password which doesn't exist anymore and when I try to sign out of icloud it wants my old password, when I tried to change my primary email back to the old one it wants me to verify it through an email address that doesn't exist. Please can you help me sort out this nightmare.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

I'm new to the Mac world. I installed my Epson printer on my IMAC and it worked fine. Then I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port and now I get a communication error and it won't print. Any help on how do to fix this?

Conference calls are got when you reach level 4. Sometimes, ASC hosts may do a conference call about something related to Apple Support Communities. You will be notified through mail or through the "Using Apple Support Communities" forum.
The last community calls were only for level 6 and higher users, so it's possible that you don't get invited to any until you reach level 6

How to test the communication stability and calculate ber using the CVI ?

Our chief engineer gave me a task yeasterday.He asked me to do software testing and calculate bit error rate that we would know our communication stability.
However,I have never touched this aspect of knowledge. I have known a bit about CVI and I want to write bit error rate code using CVI.Thus,I could test the communication stability.
But I don't know how to analyse and judge the receiving codes whether they are right or wrong.
We use Modbus communication protocol and receive data via serial port,so I want to save all datas and record the total datas number ,marking as M.
then,save the eligible datas and record the mumber marking as N. So, bit error rate is (M-N)/M .
Whether this is feasible ? Or you have any good idea. Thank you very much.

since you are using modbus, a simple error checking is implicit in the protocol and is the comparison between returned checksum and the calculated one on the received message: checksum errors, if any, are an effect of communications errors (you should have at least 2 bits changed and on particular patterns to have the checksum be calculated correctly!). You won't be able to calculate BER on them, but you can calculate PER (Packet Error Rate).
Another flag for communication errors, on the other direction, is to intercept error messages from the device: if it fully implements modbus protocol, it should return some warning in case of error (I seem to remember that in some cases it returns the reveived message with some error bits added: please check in modbus documentation).

Community Members and Knowledge Directory Link

Hi,
I'm using the support centre nav scheme but can't get the 'Community Members and Knowledge Directory' link to appear (the one that appears like an extra community page).
I've set the property in the Community Wizard but that doesn't work. And I've tried to do it by amending the code for the nav scheme, but can't get it to appear. It appears to be the way the page links are generated in the nav scheme code, but this link isn't a page. And I can't figure out how it's generated in the native nav scheme code.
Anyone got this to work, or have any ideas about to get it work?

I believe the support centre navigation does not display the knowledge directory link. You would need to add it yourself. The GetCurCommPages call on CommunityNavPage will give you the Community pages inside the current community and the knowledge directory link. If you just want the knowledge directory link without the mypages, you would need to create it yourself. Look in GetCurCommPages in NavigationModel for example.

Communication medium and communication method

Hello,
Please someone please explain to me the difference between a communication medium and a communication method...
For example, the communication medium e- mail is the one that I choose in the channels tab on the marketing planner, how do the communication method I assign to this communication medium affect the procedure? and how do a transaction I assign to this communication method affect the procedure too.

Each communication medium consists of one or more communication methods together with a priority that you assign to a communication method.
Example
You could create the communication medium Phone/E-mail/Fax. The description you use is down to you, but for ease of use, it makes sense to name the communication medium according to the communication methods it contains. The communication method defines the means by which business partners belonging to a target group are informed about the content of a campaign (by E-mail, mail, fax,...).

On March 17th I downloaded a community toolbar and conduit engine to watch CNN live TV. I could not click "finish" and Firefox seized up...despite uninstalling and re-installing, it emains frozen.

I wanted to watch CNN live Tv on my computer and I was asked to download "The Radio TV 1.3 Community Toolbar". When I did that, a "Conduit Engine" was attached to the toolbar. I couldn't click the "finish" button because everything seized up. I could do nothing. I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it...the Community Toolbar and Conduit engine screen popped up just by clicking anywhere on the Firefox homepage...and of course it seized up again. I tried to get help from Bell (my ISP) but they were unable to solve. Any ideas???

Last year when I attended the Community Day and TechEd it was great to meet a lot of people who I knew very well, but only through their posts on the forums: Pizzaman, Ajay Das, AHP, Buddhi Kalakheti (haven't seen him on the BI forum for a long time now), Rich Heilman and many others.
Since TechEd is coming up in October I thought it would be nice to know who all are planning to attend, so we can meet face to face

I think I earned more than 1k during the period (BTW the top controbutors list has some silly Bex formula I think I see 3700 odd points for the contest duration (06-07) and vaguely remember having 3.5K or so points at that point last year. Which should have me now at 7k plus instead of 5Kplus that I am at. But then again, I might be remembering it all wrong).
Anyway, I never got any invitation or code so not really sure how that worked. Have sent a mail to the mail-id to see if I can still get registered. If I do not hear, I will start making noise in coffee-corner as planned.
I was thinking I could hold a session on job scenario, fake resumes, interview questions and so on - with a perspective on what it is like on the grounds in India. More of a discussion than anything else - so people become aware of the reality of the 'freshers' who everyone on SDN seems a little wary of.... But it seems sessions are overbooked, and then again who wants to hear the things that are played over and over on forums and other such places....

SAP 4.7 TRM and PLC - MFS

we have just implemented SAP 4.7 TRM and we are investigating possibility of integration with automatic storage retrieval system. Do you know if there is a SAP MFS solution for the connection between SAP TRM and the PLC?
i know that the module is present on EWM 7.0. What are the possibility of connection between SAP 4.7 TRM and PLC?

Hi,
Generally, a "simple" way to connect a PLC to an ERP system is via OPC. Many PLCs already come with an OPC server provided by the vendor and there are plenty of 3rd party OPC servers that are available from companies like Kepware and Matrikon (now Honeywell) that connect to a wide range of SCADAs and PLCs.
Once the data is available via OPC it can be interfaced to SAP via SAP ODA, MII or by 3rd party methods. Each one has their own pros and cons.

Automating Communication channel and message monitoring

Hi,
Right now i am trying to automate communication channel monitoring and message monitoring for SAP PI. Kingly suggest me how can I go ahead and which language I can use(java or dot net) ?. I will be needing to generate a report for every half an hour about the status of the communication channel and for successfull and failed messages. Kindly assist on what criteria I can use.
