Commvault issue with JobResults on NSS volume

Hi all, we see an issue with Commvault 9R2 (sp10) using a Linux i-data agent client on OES2SP3 x64 backing up (clustered) NSS volumes. For speed we, this case, do not want to use a NSS i-data agent, so we just leverage the Linux i-data agent.
The issue is that if we use the Linux i-data agent and the jobresults directory is also hosted on the same NSS volume that's being backed up we get an error on failures.cvf
"Could not open failures file [/media/nss/LBAPOA/galaxy/JobResults/2/268/Failures.cvf] error number [19, No such device]. The backup would continue but this would affect the ability of reattempting the failed file backup during next incremental backup. A full backup is recommended to back up all files. Check the following: 1. The account this product uses has permissions to the product's install directory. 2. Sufficient disk space is available for the Job Results directory. If the problem persists, please upload log files from CommServe, MediaAgent and Client and contact your vendor's support hotline with the job ID of the failed job."
If we (for testing only) move only the jobresult directory to an ext3 volume we do not see the issue.
Has someone seen (and hopefully fixed) this issue before? My guess it's a Commvault issue, but just before we open a SR with them I would like to now if there's a good guess to solve this:)

  • Issue with WB External 500GB Volume

I'm having a problem with External WB 500GB Volume (or Hard Drive?) I deleted some files from it a few days ago and when I did that, some of my application icons got messed up and won't open or work... (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?68b08c97a0.jpg)
The AKVIS Magnifier.app and Boinx iStopMotion Pro 2 both got changed and messed up. And I'm not sure if I have corrupted/broken files on my External Volume/Drive, or if something else happened?
Even 2 of my folders that had .jpg's in them turned weird; they look like the Boinx icon in the screencapture I added. The file info says that Boinx and the 2 folders are Unix Executable Files, and the AKVIS Magnifier is a Application (Classic), which is really false! (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?c33e6b8b73.jpg)
I have no idea what to do...I've tried restarting the computer, unplugging/re-plugging the external Volume/HD...nothing.
I hope someone else has encountered this type of problem and knows what to do. Thanks.

Unfortunately, Disk Utility can't fix all that much, and the only other Apple Options are erasing the HD, or installing OSX to a second drive.
Your best bet is DiskWarrior, you need the CD/DVD though.

This one would require another HD with plenty of space to recover to.
You should use another Boot Disk or other Mac with this one in Target mode to do the recovery.

FileSalvage is an extremely powerful Macintosh application for exploring and recovering deleted files from a drive or volume. FileSalvage is designed to restore files that have:
        * been accidentally deleted.
        * become unreadable due to media faults.
        * been stored on a drive before it was re-initialized/formatted.

  • Issue with on/off and volume buttons

My iPod Touch buttons are not responding.  I am unable to shut the iPod off with the on/off buttons.  I am unable to reset the iPod by holding down the on/off button and home button simultaneously.  It has no effect.  The iPod remains on until it runs out of battery power.  I reset the iPod Touch using iTunes.  It has had no effect.
Also, the volume button does not work.  Volume cannot be turned up or down and seems to be regulated to a medium volume.
idk what could be the issue since no damage has been sustained to the unit.  Evidently it just decided it wasn't going to turn off anymore, nor let me listen to my music.  Grrrrr.
Any ideas?  The buttons don't "feel" like they're broken.  They still 'click' when I push them.  They just don't respond.  I've reset the iPod several times but nothing changes (except that it used to disconnect from my wifi constantly - that seems to have been fixed in the process of resetting it)

What do you mean by "I reset the iPod Touch using iTunes."?
If you successfully restored (went through all steps without error) to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Issue with LVM and 2 volume groups.

I have 2 physical disks with one volume group on each of them. First contains root and /home. Second one contains /var and swap. After update I got "Timeout error" for /var and swap. I can boot in emergency systemd mode and can clearly see /var and swap partitions. I have lvm2 hook after udev and before fiesystems. I done latest changes to LVM long before and everything worked fine.
    Any advice? Thank you.

Yep, I can see them and mount them (logical volumes). I booted with debug log level for systemd and log target to kmsg. But I can't find anything interesting in logs.

  • Volume issues with GE60 Apache Pro-003

I recently picked up the new GE60 Apache Pro notebook, and I've been running it for about a week now. I should of course mention that I also did a clean windows install after adding an SSD to the system (and now can't figure out how to add back that cool MSI panel that was there when I first got the system).
Anyway, I've noticed that there seems to be volume issues with the system no matter WHAT kind of settings I tweak, or drivers I try to use. With all sliders up at maximum, the volume levels still never seem to surpass around 50% (from observing the volume gauges in the Windows Volume mixer panel). My previous notebook's speakers put out significantly higher volume, and was also able to put out far more power to my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-M50).
Any possible ideas for the cause and solution to this problem? Thanks in advance, and let me know if there is anything else I need to mention.

Quote from: darkhawk on 02-April-14, 20:44:14
What are you using to gauge the '50%'? MP3's? Windows sounds? or what?
Pretty much everything. Music, games, online videos... According to the volume mixer, the audio levels never seem to pass 50%. The grey bar bounces to the peak, but the green bar never seems to pass the 50% level. It's as if there's some sort of limiter in place I'm not aware of. And since I reformatted the notebook as soon as I got it, I was never able to see if the volume control worked correctly before the reformat.

  • Is anyone having volume issues with the new Iphone 4S?

Is anyone having volume issues with the new Iphone 4S?

Yes, the volume on my iPhone 4s will max out without me touching any button or setting.  When opening mail, for instance, the ringer icon will appear and the volume level goes to max volume - and I'm not touching the volume buttons.  It seems to happen randomly, at least I can't identify a pattern, but thankfully it doesn't happen all the time, but at least once a day.
    Anyone else seen this?

  • Having issues with music volume after syncing with iCloud, Having issues with music volume after syncing with iCloud

Has anyone had issues with their music volume after syncing with iCloud ?

There have been several posts here and on the iphone site about this.
The jury is still out what the fix will be. Some posts say it's a problem with the metadata and the orientation data contained there-in. I can not confirm that.
I do know that when I take a landscape screen snap, the orientation is wrong when I email or upload the photo to my computer.

    Hi All,
I tried to search through the community, but with the sheer volume of posts, I didn't find anything that seemed like the same issue.
My iPad 4 just started having issues with the volume.  On either Bluetooth or the iPad Speaker, anything I'm watching or listening to drops the sound to just barely hearing it and then, about 2 seconds later, it comes back.
I haven't tried wired ear phones, but I am sure they'll be the same way.
It's very random, but consistent enough to happen several times per day.
Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.
I have restarted it and also did a Hard Reboot and it didn't help.
    Thanks Again,
    Scott P.

Well there you go, when you advertise it just be sure to say that you can't even see the scratches at half brightness and see how it goes.
Of course you are saying you want $500 for one with many scratches on the screen, has been dropped, but the scratches aren't visible at half brightness, and has no warranty. Or I can buy a refurbished iPad 4 WiFi 32 GB directly from Apple with no scratches and a one year warranty for $499. http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD514LL/A/refurbished-ipad-with-retina-display -wi-fi-32gb-white-4th-generation
    Why would I buy yours?
I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a used model with your specs in perfect condition. But yours is far from perfect. I think your high point is $250 which is why I said 50%.

My iPod touch is having a little issue with the volume. When I plug in my headphones the volume works fine. When there aren't any headphones plugged in, no sound comes out from my iPod. When I go to turn up the volume, it still says headphones. I tried restarting it a few times, nothing worked. I looked up many tutorials, and still nothing did the trick. Any tips?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself

I have a new iphone6+  and have paired it to my 3 cars. When playing music from my iphone, the volume is very low and I have to turn the car volume to max to listen. I had no issues with previous iphone parings. Pls help.

Sorry if this is too basic or confusing
Apparently in iOS 8 there are different volume settings for different applications
The setting on the home screen does not carry over to Pandora for example and it is different ( or at least appears to be) for the in-car experience.
So I would try to stream the music when not in the car - see if you can turn the volume up and then try again in the car
Please let us know what happens
    Thanks

  • Having issues with System Volume Information

    Hi All.
I hjave a Ps script that I use to wipe off data from SQL servers as aprt of a decom process.
    The script is as follows.
    get-childitem F:\ -include *.ldf,*.mdf,*.ndf,*.bak,*.trc,*.txt,*error*,*sqlagent*,*system_heal*,*xel*,*bak*,*logs*,*.mdmp*,*cer* -exclude *System* -recurse | foreach ($_) {remove-item $_.fullname -Force }
At the moment, it runs into issues with a folder. I would either like to delete the folder as well or actually exclude it. Also as an improcement to the script, I would want it to display the list of files it has deleted.
The error that I get is as follows.
remove-item : Access to the path 'F:\System Volume Information' is denied.
    At line:1 char:155
    + ...  foreach ($_) {remove-item $_.fullname -Force   }
    +                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : PermissionDenied: (F:\:String) [Remove-Item], UnauthorizedAccessException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : RemoveItemUnauthorizedAccessError,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.RemoveItemCommand
    Confirm
The item at F:\ has children and the Recurse parameter was not specified. If you continue, all children
will be removed with the item. Are you sure you want to continue?

  • Linux NSS DB Issue with Personal User/Client Certificate Friendly Names.

I have an issue with the NSSDB lib and my browsers in which client certificates I use for an application (Nessus Vulnerability Scanner) show up in the list with the same friendly name/nickname, making it very difficult to distinguish which certificate goes with which server.
Each certificate is generated on a different server with a different hostname but the same username. Upon importing the certificate into my browser, or even the pk12util command, the first certificate will appear correctly. However, importing additional certificates will just reuse the nickname from the first certificate instead of the nickname I chose. I have tested many different scenarios, and it doesn't seem the problem is related at all to the content of the nickname, so I have no idea how to force it to work correctly. I've searched around and found some indications of "nickname conflicts" and things, but nothing that helps me resolve the issue. I'm not sure if it's a bug or if it's some weird condition I've encountered.

Maybe try to ask on the mozilla.dev.tech.crypto news group.

  • Login issues with zen 11.2.4MU1 and laptops

    Hello,
We have been having issues all school year with laptops and logging in. They will get the log in screen to log in to the realm, or they will get the windows log in screen (like they did not have the dlu policy). I have every one up to 11.2.4.MU1 and am still having issues. When I go to the message log in the zenworks control panel for the device, I get the following errors:
"Could not download content for bundle, Windows Group Policy, because the ZENworks Server is not accessible."
I only get this on the laptops, so this has to be something with the way this is working with our wireless. There is no rhyme or reason that I can see as to when this happens. The only things I can tell you is:
    1. This happens only on the laptops connecting with wifi
    2. Usually happens when the laptop is first booted up.
    3. The laptops are assigned a dlu user policy. This policy creates a user (GSStudent). This user is volatile and is cached for 1 day. This users is also a local machine administrator.
    4. We have a separate nss volume that the content repo directory sits on ( I am not sure if this is causing the issues or not, I read somewhere there were problems with this).
    5. Logging in as a local user and running zac cc temporarily fixes the issue.
I am at a loss here and am looking for some type of guidance that would point me to the solution. Any help would be appreciated!
    Doug

  • NSS volume not visible

With NOWS 2.5 i have NSS installed and created DATA NSS
volume on second disc ( other than system )
Volume is activated, mounted, can be fully managed via iManager
or NRM, but admin or user logged via Novell Client ( 4.91 sp5 )
cannot see this volume. Volume SYS ( linux ext3 via NCP ) also not.
In eDirectory all OK - SYS, DATA, NSS admin object.
    What is bad ?
    Thanks for any tips.

May be Novell should setup a WIKI for SBS with option for public submission
of Tips or How-to (ofcourse this should be vetted before actually
    publishing)
