Compiling custom controls with ant

Need help figuring out which ant task I need to compile custom controls (.jcs files).
I’ve read several posts about using wlwBuild and workshop.core.Compile but these
tools don’t satisfy my needs when it comes to automating and integrating anthill,
cvs, junit… I’m also not so keen on the idea of keeping a .work file synced between
all developer’s IDEs and the staging/production build machines. I’d really like
to have a nice clean ide independent ant script build my project. It seems BEA
somewhat anticipated this when they created genxmlbean to compile XMLBeans and
JwsCompile for web services, but I have not found a similar ant task that I can
use to compile projects with custom controls (.jcs files) created in workshop.
Alternatively if there’s a way in workshop to compile and package an application
to a production worthy ear that does not include all the extra .workshop ejbs
used for debugging, that would get me by for now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, I've been down that path and the generated
build script uses wlwBuild and the .work file to create the ear, which I'm trying
to avoid.

It may help to know that you can generate an Ant build script from Workshop
(for
either a project or application), which when executed from the command
line, will
do everything required to build the project or application. You can even
tell
Workshop to always use the build script when building the project. You
can't do
this for the application, however. You have to go into the project/application
properties to find this.

  • Compile AIR application with Ant (WindowedApplication could not be found)

    I'm trying to compile my AIR application with Ant, using the mxmlc Ant Task. It seems to compile fine, and I get a .swf, but when I try to run it with ADL, I get the message "Class mx.core::WindowedApplication could not be found." It looks like the AIR libraries aren't being included properly.
    Here's my mxmlc task:
    Class mx.core::WindowedApplication could not be found.
    <mxmlc
         file="${MAIN_MXML}"
         output="${DEPLOY_DIR}/MyApp.swf"
         compatibility-version="3"
         locale="en_US"
         static-rsls="true"
         debug="${DEBUG_FLAG}"
         optimize="true"
         link-report="${DEPLOY_DIR}/report.xml"
         configname="air">
         <load-config filename="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/air-config.xml" />
         <library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/libs" append="true">
              <include name="*.swc" />
         </library-path>
         <library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/libs/air" append="true">
              <include name="*.swc" />
         </library-path>
         <library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/locale" append="true">
              <include name="{locale}" />
         </library-path>
         <source-path path-element="${SRC_DIR}" />
    </mxmlc>
    Any idea why this is happening? I've tried not including the load-config section and not including the library paths, but it's always the same result - it can't find WindowedApplication.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Guys!
    I ran into the same problem when i tried to write an ant-script to compile the asDocs for my project.
    After reading shades post i added the air-config (This resolved the WindowApplication couldn't be found error, because it adds all the air libs i guess)
    but lead to the problem that the flex vector-class wasn't found. As Vector is flashplayer 10.0.0 i also
    used the target-player parameter (This fixed that nicely).
    But now i got the problem that i get lots of this error msgs: DepartmentItemRendererClass.as(11):
    Error: The private attribute may be used only on class property definitions.
    I guess the problem now is that ant doesn't understand that the AS-Classes producing that errors are not used as
    standalone-classes. To divide my mxml and AS-Code i import external AS-Classes to my MXML
    like that <mx:Script source="ascodeClass.as" />
    Is there a solution allowing me to use this pattern and still compile my asDoc with ant?
    It confuses me a little, because Ant-Scripts worked to compile the project.
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to select "ISO A" (auto) using Custom Controls with lever assigned to ISO change?

    On 7D Mark II with firmware 1.0.4, I have used Custom Controls to assign ISO change to the lever.  However, it is not possible to change ISO to "ISO A" (auto).  How to select "ISO A" (auto) using Custom Controls with lever assigned to ISO change?

    Follow Up:
    Ok so ive changed things up a bit and have had some more success.
    I have used a Switch statement in my For loop to perform different actions based on the item selected.
    The code looks like this:
    Workbook.Content.Table1.Row3.AppropriationDetails.Row4.Cell1::change - (JavaScript, client)
    var fFrom = xfa.resolveNodes("Workbook.Content.Table1.Row3.AppropriationDetails[*] .Row4.Cell1");
    var fTo = xfa.resolveNodes("Workbook.Content.Table2.Row3.AppropriationDetails[* ].Row4.Cell1");
    for (var i=0; i <= fFrom.length-1; i++) {
         switch (fFrom.item(i).rawValue)
         case "Option 3":
         fTo.item(i).rawValue = "Enter the details in the field below";
         break;
         default:
         fTo.item(i).rawValue = fFrom.item(i).boundItem(xfa.event.newText);
         break;
    This code solves my problem but has thrown up a new issue:
    When i select Option 1 or 2 from the dropdown list  the change in the text field is instantaneous, however if I select Option 3 it wont appear in the text field until I either select Option 3 a second time or select another item. Its as if the text field is a selction behind what I have enterd in the dropdown list.
    Any thoughts?

  • Compile build.xml with Ant for web service with annotations

    Hi Friends,
    I have a web service with annotations, using javax.annotation.PostConstruct, and javax.annotation.PreDestroy.
    I have a build.xml to create a EAR for this web service.

  • OutOfMemoryError when compiling my app with Ant

    I'm having a hard time compiling my application using Flex 3 Ant tasks. When I compile it in Flex Builder, using the default compiler, everything works fine. But when I try to build it from the command line, I always get the following error:

    Still giving the same error. Please let me know your suggestions.

  • Compiling Flex Apps With ANT Problem

    Hi guys,
    I thought i'd have a go at using ANT to compile my applications into a single war file that I could then use to deploy. So far so good, until I got to the last bit. Within the root of my application i have the actionscript source file and underneath that I have an assets folder where all my images and css files live. E.g. app_root/asrc/assets/stylesheets/default.css. Now the ant task i've used to succesfully compile everything else looks like this;
         <target name="mxcompile">
            <mxmlc
                file="${asrc}/Main.mxml"
                output="${dest}/Main.swf"
                actionscript-file-encoding="UTF-8"
                keep-generated-actionscript="true"
                incremental="true"
                context-root="SOSBetaAdmin"
                services="WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml"
                allow-source-path-overlap="true">
                <load-config filename="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/flex-config.xml"/>
                <source-path path-element="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks"/>
                <source-path path-element="${asrc}/assets/stylesheets"/>
                <!-- List of SWC files or directories that contain SWC files. -->
                <compiler.library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks" append="true">
                    <include name="libs" />
                    <include name="../bundles/{locale}" />
                </compiler.library-path>
                <!-- include dependencies -->
                <compiler.library-path dir="." append="true">
                    <include name="libs" />
                </compiler.library-path>
            </mxmlc>
        </target>
    However when i run it i get the following error;
    Error: Problem finding external stylesheet: assets/stylesheets/default.css
    Its there, its definately there and whats more Flex builder doesn't have a problem with it. So why does running the compiler as an ANT task cause this issue? Am I missing something?

    I think your problem is that you are missing another source-path tag.  Assuming your assets directory is immediately beneath directory asrc, you'll want to add the following line to your build.xml file:
    <source-path path-element="${asrc}"/>
    Hope that helps.

    He Peter,
    Thanks for your reply. I've made some steps, but still no perfect solution. I've managed to compile a swf with ant using only the AIR SDK.
    But, check these results
    - Compiled using Flash Builder release : 455 kb
    - Compiled with ant using mxmlc : 104 kb
    - Compiled with ant using compc : 139 kb
    Can you provide us an example, how to compile a swf using ant. For example, with an AIR mobile project.
    Thanks Peter.

  • How do you create a custom control which has several buttons?

    Can you do this in LabView?
    I want to make it so that one button will disable or switch the value/state of another. (Think minesweeper). I can create the logic in a subVI, but only if I have access to the property nodes of each of the buttons.
    I want the front panel of the main VI to have the buttons on it, and I don't want the buttons to appear in a separate window.
    If I place all of the buttons individually on the front panel of the main VI and pass their references to the subVI, I end up with tons and tons of variables in the main VI block diagram. It works but is very very messy.
    I tried to create a custom control with a cluster of buttons in it, but I can't seem to get at the individual property nodes. Is it possible?
    (*sighs* I wanna Class!)
    Thanks in advance
    jen

    Hi Jen
    Yes it is possible to get the individual property nodes of controls that are in a cluster.
    You have a property Controls[] in the property node of the cluster, so you get an array of control references. You just have to extract the single references to access the controls.
    I attached a screen-shot, which shows this possibility.
    Hope it helps.

  • Property binding between custom control and its aggregations

    Hi,
    I have a custom control with some properties, e.g., visible, and I would like to bind these properties to its aggregated controls without losing the two-way binding functionality. For example, imagine the following control:
    sap.ui.core.Control.extend('dev.view.control.MyControl', {
      metadata: {
        properties: {
          'visible': {type: 'boolean', defaultValue: false},
        aggregations : {

    So in this example, I would like to bind the "visible" property of the _innerTable to the "visible" property of MyControl without losing two-way binding. That means that I do not want to read the "visible" property once in a constructor or so and set it on the inner table. Instead I want _innerTable to react on changes of the "visible" property of MyControl so that I can bind it, for example, with "visible={/model/visible}" on an instance of MyControl and _innerTable changes when the model changes.
    Does anyone know if such a "piping" or "chaining" of properties is possible and how it would be done?

    It's close to my case, but you pass the label to your custom control from outside, where you also perform the data binding. In this case, you know which path should be bound to the label property.
    In my case, the control is hidden inside my control, so I do not know which path from the model should be bound to the inner control. I want to somehow connect the property of my control with the property of the inner control.
    So taking part of your example, the control would look like:
    sap.ui.core.Control.extend('xcontrol', {
      metadata: {
        properties: {
          'visible': {type: 'boolean', defaultValue: true}
        aggregations : {
          _header : {type : 'sap.m.Label', multiple : false, visibility: 'hidden'}
      init: function() {
        this.setAggregation('_header', new sap.m.Label({
          visible: <????>
      renderer: function(oRm, oControl) {
        oRm.write("<div");
        oRm.writeControlData(oControl);
        var header = oControl.getAggregation('_header');
        if (header) {
          oRm.renderControl(header);
        oRm.write('</div>');
    At point <????> I want to somehow bind the visible attribute of the label to the visible property of xcontrol without losing the two-way binding, i.e., the label should react on changes of the visible property just like xcontrol would.

  • Hide the custom control while changing the tab

    Hello Experts,
    I am using many screens & subscreens in my application. In a tabstrip control, I am calling one subscreen which has Custom Control to display the text editor.
    When I change the tab say for ex from TAB1 to TAB2, the custom control with text editor remains at the same place. In TAB2 I dont want custom control of TAB1.
    Thank you to go through my query.
    Regards,

    Hello Alej,
    I have created one subscreen which i need in a tabstrip control. Now this subscreen has one Editor Control (CL_GUI_TEXTEDIT->TEXT_EDITOR)  which I put on Custom Control. Custom Control is placed in the subscreen with SE51.
    to put the editor control  of CL_GUI_TEXTEDIT, I need Custom Control on screen. And I didnt find any property using which we can hide custom control.
    Is there any way using classes or methods, can we put Editor Control without using the custom control of screen.
    I think in your prob, you had ALV, that we can put on another subscreen, but in my prob how can we remove custom control Please Explain.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bhavina

    3) How create a simple control with L&F support?
    Thank you.

    I am looking for following topics:
    1) How to create custom control that consists from some another controls (for example - 3 JTextField's and 2 JLabel's => similar to DatePicker from MacOS)There is a JCalendar javabean that I think can be freely downloaded. search for it
    But how do you create your own?
    Step 1 is knowing what is already out there. There is a ton of stuff that's already been developed, so for you to take on a 2+ week project to do something that's already there is somewhat pointless.
    Step 2 is figuring out what it is, what it does, and what features it has, and what data is included in the model. I myself often shortcut this step, and then after doing a couple of weeks of work, wish that I'd spent more time on it when I was starting.
    Step 3 is deciding what the UI on it will be
    Step 4 is figuring out how to build it - what existing java classes can be reused / refactored, etc.
    Step 5 is building it
    Step 6 is profit :)
    2) How to create custom control with it's own model?You can go the way of the JComponents and build an interface that specs out the requirements for the model, which provides ultimate extensibility. Or you can build a model that is more specific - this has the advantage of not running into over-developed problems, and being generally easier to get coded faster.
    3) How create a simple control with L&F support?Build it off of existing Swing components

  • Windows Phone - Cannot bind custom user controll with listview item source property

    It is Windows Phone 8.1 (runtime)
    I have some problem of binding custom user controll with list of data. I'll make it simple as I can.
    My problem is that somehow if I use DataBind {Binding Something} inside my custom controll it will not work.
    I need to transfer binded data (string) to custom controll.
    It is strange that if I do not use DataBind, it will work normally. Eg MyCustomControllParameter = "some string" (in my example 'BindingTextValue' property)
    Does anyone Know how to bind custom user controll with inside ListView with DataTemplate.
    Assume this:
    XAML Test-Main page
    <Grid  Background="Black">        <ListView x:Name="TestList" Background="#FFEAEAEA">                    <ListView.ItemTemplate>                <DataTemplate>                    <Grid Background="#FF727272">                        <local:TextBoxS BindingTextValue="{Binding Tag, FallbackValue='aSource'}" local:TextBoxS>                    </Grid>                </DataTemplate>            </ListView.ItemTemplate>        </ListView>    </Grid>
    XAML Test-Main page c#
    public sealed partial class MainPage : Page    {        List<TTag> tags = new List<TTag>();        public MainPage()        {            this.InitializeComponent();            this.NavigationCacheMode = NavigationCacheMode.Required;        }        public class TTag        {            public string Tag { get; set; }        }        private void InitializeAppData()        {            TTag tag = new TTag() { Tag = "hello world" };            tags.Add(tag);            tags.Add(tag);            tags.Add(tag);            TestList.ItemsSource = tags;        }             protected override void OnNavigatedTo(NavigationEventArgs e)        {            InitializeAppData();        }           }
    User Control XAML:
      <UserControl    x:Class="CustomControllTest.TextBoxS"    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"    xmlns:local="using:CustomControllTest"    xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008"    xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006"    mc:Ignorable="d"    d:DesignHeight="300"    d:DesignWidth="400">      <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="#FF4F4F4F"   >        <RichTextBlock x:Name="MyTestBlock">        </RichTextBlock>    </Grid></UserControl>
    User Control c#
    public TextBoxS()       {            this.InitializeComponent();            LayoutRoot.DataContext = this;        }        public static readonly DependencyProperty BindingTextValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register(                                         "BindingTextValue",                                         typeof(string),                                         typeof(TextBoxS),                                         new PropertyMetadata(default(string)));        public string BindingTextValue        {            get            {                return GetValue(BindingTextValueProperty) as string;            }            set            {                SetValue(BindingTextValueProperty, value);                //This method adds some custom logic into RichTextBlock, pointed correctly                SetupBox(value);            }        }
    Thanks for helping ;)

    If you use a built-in control rather than your custom control, does binding work? You should verify that first.

  • WP8 Map control with custom tiles

    I'm trying to display a map control in my app targeting Windows Phone 8 but I want to use custom tiles from open street map.
    I'm using this line :
    mapControl.TileSources.Add(new TileSource("http://a.tile.openstreetmap.org/{zoomLevel}/{x}/{y}.png"));
    When I launch the app the custom tiles are properly displayed, but there's still the default map tiles underneath them.
    I tried to hide them, but I counld'nt even find where they exist in the map control and what is displaying them exactly.
    I would like to know how I can remove those default tiles when loading custom tiles.
