Complex Select SQL

Oracle Version: 10g
I am trying to write an select statement based on chain of items. Any help constructing this SQL is appreciated. Thanks!
ItemNo1 changed to ItemNo2
ItemNo2 changed to ItemNo3
ItemNo4 changed to ItemNo3
Items 1 and 2 is changed to 3 which is Chain 1. Item 4 is changed to Item 3 which is Chain 2.
Output expected is : For each Item, what is the final item assigned/changed into...

I added few records 128, 129 to chain 2 and 130 to chain 3. It didnt work as expected. I think what's happening is one_wy_ind is selected from whatever is in the last record of the chain. Somehow we have to check for existence of 1way indicator (which is value 0) from the current record to end of chain. Also I changed decode of 0 as '1way'.

Complex select query read in Java

I want to use a custom complex select query with join of multiple tables Explicitly to read the object which itself is associated with other object through one-to-many mapping. The objects have been generated through Toplink without Indirection.
The scenario is like this:
Table: Purchase_Order Object: PurchaseOrder
2nd Table: Purchase_Order_Line Object: PurchaseOrderLine
Relationship is one-to-many between Purchase_Order and Purchase_Order_Line. Corresponding to this, PurchaseOrder has the Collection of PurchaseOrderLine without indirection.
I want to override the internal approach of Toplink by my custom select query to fetch a few attributes only. I tried it in some way but it does not return me PurchaseOrderLine collection.
Please elaborate what should be the approach to run such query in Java using Toplink API?

Could you include the query that you have currently tried.
TopLink 9.0.4 did not support joining 1-m relationships, so this would not be possible, but TopLink 10.1.3 did add this support. You would need to add the 1-m joined attribute to the query to be able to use SQL that joins the 1-m relationship.
In terms of only selecting partial objects, you would need to enable partial object reading on the query to only have some of the object's attributes built, but I believe that 1-m joins are not currently supported for partial object reading.
You may also consider using batch reading on the 1-m in TopLink, as batch reading is more efficient at reading 1-m relationships than joining.

How to get resultset from procedure having dynamic select sql query ?

I have created a procedure, in which there is dynamic select query. The procedure has one out put parameter which gives error code. When I compile that procedure it compiles successufully. When I run it it executes successfully and gives output error code. But I don't know how to get resultset of that dynamic select sql query. I need that.

What's the proper usage of Sub-Select SQL query in Oracle BI Answers Version Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.2.1?
I get [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occured when trying to Sub Select query like:
itemno = (SELECT MIN(orders.itemno) FROM mydatabase where rownum < 2 order by orders.itemno)

Maybe the best is to create a new physical and logical object for your sub-select and join this with your current objects.

Select sql running very long when made to select many columns from a table

I am using an Oracle DB 10g. I have a table with 250 columns and I need to select 200 columns out of them. The table holds around 0.1 million rows. But when I run the select sql it takes 15 mins to return .1 million rows. Where as if I select only 10 or 15 columns the sql runs in less than a minute returning same number of rows. My sql looks like below:
select p.col1,p.col2,.......,p.col200
from table Parent p;
The table also has a Primary key Index but it does not seem to be using it even when I forced an Index hint. Could you pls help?

As Sven points out, it is likely that most of your time is network (and client) time. You are sending 20 times as much data (based on column counts, at any rate) across the network, and concerned that it's taking 15 times as long.
If you're testing from SQL*Plus then setting the arraysize to a value larger than the default might help.
If you have control over the SQL*Net settings then you may get some benefit by adjusting the SDU sizes at both ends of the link.
If you have control over the tcp configuration (transmit and receive buffer sizes) then you may get some benefit by adjusting these.
Simple test, by the way, if you're on SQL*Plus
set autotrace traceonly statistics
select ...This will dump your data in the bit bucket as it arrives giving you
a) the database time plus network time
b) some statistics including the volume of data down the network and the number of network round-trips that Oracle saw.

DB Adapter Custom Select SQL with Timestamps

I am facing an issue with the DB Adapter Custom select sql: here is my scenario:
I am trying to select diff records from the database between user input start time & the sysdate. for this i am trying to use Execute Pure SQL option database adapter.
I am framing the SQL as below:
select * from tablename1,tablename2 where tablename1.id = tablename1.id and column1 like #userinput1 and tablename1.request_timestamp between to_date(#Userinput_requestTime) and sysdate
My question is whether the query
tablename1.request_timestamp between to_date(#Userinput_requestTime) and sysdate
is correct or not? I even given a try to_date(#Userinput_requestTime,'DD-MON-YY HH24:mi:ss') and sysdate
that too not worked ,
I have created OSB business service using the generated adapter and the input i am giving it as '04-MAR-15 03.36.23.368179000 PM -06:00' and the input is of type xs:string .
i am getting errors like java.sql.SQLDataException: ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string
Whether my custom sql is correct or not ? please help me in resolving this issue.

is timestamp then you need to compare as
timestamp beetween timestamp and timestamp
so convert date to timestamp by CAST as example

Change JDBC select SQL query's where clause at runtime

Hi,
I have one JDBC sender channel with Select SQL Query which helps in fetching data from JDE table. We have defined where clause to fetch some particular records i.e. if ABC = NULL then fetch the record.. and then update query is used to turn that flag to "Y" i.e. ABC ="Y" so that next time the channel don't pick the same records again.
Now the problem is that if we want to fetch some records again whose flag has been set to "Y" we cannot change the select query again and again in the production environment.
Is there any way to change the select query of the JDBC channel at runtime e.g. Picking up some flat file where the conditions for the particular records to be picked are defined (ID=123) and changing the WHERE clause of select query in the JDBC channel for those records to be picked without using BPM.

Yes, it is possible with the help of store procedure. In SQL Server there is a IF-Else Conditional block, which you can use inside store procedure. Create a SP with 2 additional parameter something like FlagReadAgain and KeyField. Pass the flag always as True or False. For the Key field pass the record key which you want to read again if you are passing the Flag as True else pass it as 0 or whatever.
In the procedure check if the value of flag is True -> If yes, Read the entry with key name specified in where part.
In the else part put the query which you are using for the normal flow.
IF (FlagReadAgain) = TRUE
BEGIN
   SELECT EmpName, EmpAddress
   FROM Employee
   WHERE EmpID = 'E001'
END
ELSE
   BEGIN
     SELECT EmpName, EmpAddress
     FROM Employee
     WHERE Status = 'N'
   END
You may also use the approach which Srini mentioned. Create an application to restore any value to intial stage so that it can be picked up by XI when it poll again.
Choose any approach which you like.

in smartforms where is the options called "complex selection" i am creating the purchase order slip and in my navigation it says that

but i could not find the option, i am using the version ECC6.0

Disabling complex selection button

Hi Experts,
   In my select-options, based on the user ( sy-uname ), I am disabling the select-option-High value.
   i.e.      if screen-name = 'S_DATE-HIGH'.
                screen-input = 0.
             endif.
But at the same time I need to disable the complex selection button also. It means that the user has to give only one input like parameter.
How can I disable complex selection button.

"SUIM User Users by Complex Selection Criteria by Role" question

Suppose the situation is:
Composite role ZCR contains single role ZSR (profile T-001) . Composite role ZCR assigned to below two users with different expire date (both users are not locked and not expire):
UserA - 01.01.2013
UserB - 01.01.2024
(Case 1) SUIM -> User -> Users by Complex Selection Criteria -> by Role (either specify ZCR or ZSR) the result is:
UserA
UserB
(Case 2) SUIM -> User -> Users by Complex Selection Criteria -> by Profiles (T-001) the result is:
UserB
Is SUIM has error or other assumption on Case 1? I expected the result is UserB only.
I knew there is program PRGN_COMPRESS_TIMES to remove assignment which have already expire and all the related tables. Please let me know if the result in case 1 is SAP standard or can be fixed by OSS notes? Thanks.

Hi Donald,
If the user having validity expired role in his user master SU01, then the expired role can be seen under 'Role' tab in SU01 with 'Valid to' date, but the role relevant profile will be removed from user at the time of role expiration date.
So when you search for users based roles (Case 1), the SUIM lists all users who are assigned to that particular role, irrespective of expired role assignments. So in Case 1, please follow below step for accurate results.
1. (Case 1) SUIM -> User -> Users by Complex Selection Criteria -> by Role (either specify ZCR or ZSR) the result is:
UserA
UserB
2. Then select all users in SUIM output (UserA & UserB), and click on 'In Accordance with Selection' button. So that you can see the users and the (ZCR) ZSR role 'Valid to' (End Date) date for each user.
By doing second step here, you will get the accurate results. This is how the SUIM works.

in validation rule, after "create selection condition" , I add "ITEM" Characteristic.
I need to enter item from 10000000 to 19999999 so I change the selection options from single value to complex selection. But no place to enter the interval, it only show up the field for enter single value.
What should i do?

Actually, since of 'intuitive design' of SAP ;=)))) newbies, when they arrive to creation/editing of selection condition, don't expect that along with the possibility of entering one single value in 'Selection Condition', a new subframe 'Single Selection' is appeared below the selection condition (in case of complex selection). It's simply not seen. You have to scroll the frame down to see it. Here you have a lot of possibilities to choose restrictions: ranges, hierarchy nodes etc.

Select Users by complex selection criteria in that selection of values in authorization object give F_BKPF_BUK enter and then specify the company code & execute.
It will give list of roles having company code. Highlight each role and click on user assignment.

in a procedure, I need to apply 'in parameter' in 'where clause' along with other table fields. Purpose is to create dynamic select querry with multiple conditions.

where y_code=2008 and v_type in ('SI', 'TI', 'DI') ;
my requirement is replace 'and v_type in ('SI', 'TI', 'DI')' with in parameter. pls note in paramter may contain null value.

... e.g. why on earth do you want to pass in a string to be appended to the WHERE clause of an SQL.I second that and I strongly advice NOT to do it. If you really want to do it, then come back and show us, how you would prevent SQL injection. This approach is too dangerous (and too complex) IMHO.
