Concatinating the dimension member

Hi,
Can any of you please let me know how to concatinate the dimension member with a string such as CC_ to the source memebr during the mapping in FDM. Can help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
User141435

The best way to complete a concatenation is to do the concatenation in the import format.
IE. if you want to add CC_ to the source member in the import format, create an entry for the dimension and in the expression place the CC_ and then create another entry for the same dimension which links to the source value in the source file

  • How to maintain the dimension member that had large amount (over 10K)

    Hi, all,
I am now doing a Project Planning using BPC and had some questions as follows:
    1. the total amount of the project memeber is huge (exceeding 10K in total). it will be crazy for the Administrator to maintain it only by himself. Is it possible that we can find a workaround method to let the end user to do the restricted work of administrator. in another word, can we find a way that prevent the end user to enter the Administration interface but can add the member themselves through the front end. the process work can be done in shcedule or by manually by the administrator?  Anybody had the experience on this? Or do you have any alternative and workaround way to solve the problem?
    2. the project memeber adding is not finished within one time. that means, in the first time, maybe only add the highest level. and later, adding the members under it. how can we manage it? Dynamic Hierachy or the others?
    Thanks

You could also have the end user update a regular excel spreadsheet with the same column format as a membersheet.  Easiest would be to save off the membersheet in another location accessible to the end user.  Then it can be modified using excel.  Or have the end user maintain a delimited flat file containing all the information included in a membersheet.
Using the bpc makedim package as a starting point, you can create a custom version that takes the user updated document as input and updates the bpc sql mbr table for that dimension then process the dimension. As long as the member list does not exceed the excel limitations, I would also suggest updating the membersheet in bpc.  In previous implementations this has meant taking a copy of the membersheet, deleting it, coping a template with the correct columns, then adding the members into it.  Updating excel spreadsheets from SSIS can be challenging if you have to deal with deleted members.
Also if you have the potential of deleted members that might have associated facts, I have another post concerning that issue, but have not had time to try any of  the suggestions.
Now, the end user is responsible for updating the member list without having access to BPC Admin tool, but someone with access to run datamanager packages would have to execute the datamanager package to process the dimension.

  • Error selecting a dimension member in BPC EPM report - The given key was not present in the dictionary

    Hi,
We are currently running SAP BPC 10.1 NW on Hana
    Version:
    CPMBPC  810 SP 4
    SAP_BW  740 SP 9
    HANABPC 810 SP 4
    EPM Excel Add-in 10 SP 21 .NET 4 build 9094.
On my embedded model. I have a BEX query on a aggregation level which I access in a report using the EPM Add-in Excel .
When I edit my report in EPM Add-in Excel , and I try to select the dimension members for a selected dimension member, I get the following error.
"The given key was not present in the dictionary"
Any assistance to help resolve the problem will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Gavin

    Hi Shrikant,
I had a look at MBR_SEQ , it is a attribute on the dimension member in BW , this relates to a past version of BPC 7.5. We are currently on BPC 10.1 Embedded model , and the MBR_SEQ does not exist on any of the characteristics I have in my info cube.
When I create a web report I am able to access the dimension members using the select dimensions options, the problem seems to be on the EPM Add-in Excel client only.
    Thanks
    Gavin

  • Changes in the Dimensions not reflected in the Current View and Excel Sheet

    Hi Experts,
We're using BPC MS Platform Version 7.0.112 and we're having problems. When we make changes in the dimension members like adding members or making changes in the hierarchy or groupings, it takes time for the changes to reflect in current view or in the excel sheet. After full processing of the dimension we can see the changes we've made when we reopen the dimension member but when we try to use the member we've added in the template, it's not yet in the current view. I've already tried, full processing of all the dimensions, processing application and reassigning aql index, refresh dimension members and yet the changes we've made doesnt appear in the current view. And what's odd is that sometimes the changes we've made would appear after a day or two or nothing at all.
What could be possibly causing this issue?
    Thanks,
    Marvin

    Hi Dzmitry,
Thanks for your response, I'm just wondering whats causing this? We never had this issue on older versions of BPC though, so it would really help if we would know the cause of this. Basicaly when do changes in a dimension, after processing (Full Process, System Offline and Process through member sheet), we just had to set the AppSet status to available and refresh the dimension members in Excel and all the changes would already be visible.
    Thanks,
    Marvin

  • Dimension Member

    Hi All,
I am having an issue with one dimension member which is not accepting any data from the dataform. So if the users try to submit a number it just goes back to zero. I tried copying data from another member and that works but if I try to again delete/update the number it again doesn't happen. I also check the property of the dimension member and it is no different from other dimension members.
The application is on Hyperion Planning 9.3.0.1.
    Thanks in advance,
    Amol

    From the DBAG
    Understanding Implied Sharing
The shared member property defines a shared data relationship explicitly. Some members are shared even if you do not explicitly set them as shared. These members are said to be implied shared members.
Essbase assumes (or implies) a shared member relationship in the following situations:
A parent has only one child.
A parent has only one child that consolidates to the parent.

  • How to get the ID of a dimension member in script logic?

    Hi everybody,
I am working in some logic scripts and I wonder if exists any option to get the current member ID of a dimension in order to concatenate a string using the member referred and an additional set of caracters such as: MEMBER_ID&"_ccccc".
Moreover, I would like to use this ID dimension member in order to filter members of another dimension whose attribute is equal to the ID of the desired member. Is it feasible?
In conclusion, is it possible to get a variable which is referred to a member ID of a dimension, and using it in order to filtering other dimensions?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
You ask if it is possible compare a dimension id with a property value.. yes it is posible , for doing that you will have to do something like this,
    *FOR %ACC1%=ThisA,ThisB,ThisC
          *WHEN DIMENSION.PROPERTY=%ACC1%
                  *REC(............)
           *ENDWHEN
    *NEXT
if you want to concatenate using a filter theres a posibility, like this example using the time dimension.
    *xdim_memberset time=%year%.jan -
    >2011.jan
    hope it helps

  • Upload new member in the dimension not from BPC Admin

    Hi Experts,
If we want to upload a new account not from of BPC admin, how we can do it?
I tried to do it in MS version and was able to do it, as we have a dimension files in excel format (other than the temporary excel file ), we can add member in that excel file and run the Dimension process without selecting the "from member sheet". And it includes the new member.
But in Netweaver version if we do same thing in the xml file of that dimension and try to process, it doesn't take the new member which was added in the xml file.. Any idea ..
    Thanks
    IshitaD

    Hi Ishita,
Can you try using Data Manager to load master data? I know that is too much trouble if you want to load say just 1 record but it  is a clean option that does not require BPC Admin.

    EPMA!!!!! EPMA!!!!
I'm playing around with it to write a blog post and it is crazy. Only possible workaround (till now i'm not able to figure out a solution to it) is to copy the application and deploy it as a new one. Take copy of all objects (forms, tasklist etc). Delete the corrupted application and rename the new one to old.

  • In an Analyzer report how can I filter based on the last member of a dimension?

Using Analyzer 6.2.1What I'm trying to do is to create a report that shows always the last month available on the cube.I'd rather like to avoid having to add UDA or Alias or whatever in my outline. Is there a way to retrieve the last member of a dimension directly in Analyzer?

"Substitution Variables" can do what you are asking for.

  • Can I pass the selected member at page dimension to form business rule?

I have a business rule which will be executed when the form get loaded, the business rule is very complex, so I want to narrow down the calculation by passing the selected member at page dimension to the business rule.
For example, I have year as page dimension, and I only want to calculate the selected year at one time? How can I do it?
I know runtime prompt, but I don't think it's a good way, since you need to select again.
    Thanks
    Tony

You can use a variable and a run time prompt.
You can set the business rule options in planning to "Use Members on Form" and "Hide Run time prompt"
This way the page/pov member will be passed into the business and into the variable.

  • Getting the first member of a cube dimension

    Hi,
I need to get the first (and the unique) member of a cube dimension, but using CUBEMEMBER function seems be a wrong manner.
Obviously, I don't know which is the first member.
CUBEMEMBER("DataModel";"[ElaborationDates].[Dates]") returns ALL as also CUBEMEMBER("DataModel";"[ElaborationDates].[Dates].[All]").
    Any suggests to me, please?

  • Need to change dimension member in context based on the member property

    Hi,
When i select the one particular entity i.e. E_1100 , it having the currency property is INR, this currency has to change  the RPTCURRENCY dimension member i.e. INR. in the context member.
Context is locked for the users.
    for example:
In context i have Entity dimension, RPTcurrency dimension
                               E_1100               INR.
In report user having the select parameter for the Entity Dimension. Now he has selected the E_1200  in the report , but it has currency property is USD
now the RPT Currency dimension should have to display the  USD in the Context.
    Please anybody help me.
    Regards.
    Surya

    Hi Surya,
you can achieve this using simple VBA code. Use below vba code for overriding the context member. assign this code to button. it will change the context member.
Copy paste below code in one module and assign this code to the button.
    First Enable FPMXLClient
    Dim epm As New FPMXLClient.EPMAddInAutomation
    Sub change context()
    Dim CONNE As String
    CONNE = epm.GetActiveConnection(ActiveSheet)
    'To set context
    epm.SetContextMember CONNE, "CURRENCY", Range("A1")
    'To refresh
    epm.RefreshActiveWorkBook
    End Sub
where CURRENCY==> use your dimension name whose context want to change
Range("A1") ==> In A1 cell Populate property using EPMMemberproperty()
Basically we will set context member and refresh the workbook. After selection of the entity click on button so macro will run and context member will gets override in the Context Bar.
