Concerning SCXI 1121 and 1321..gain settings

I am reading in a 0 to 30 millivolt signal. I have the jumpers set to 100. In max I still only read in 0 30 millivolts. Isn't it supposed to be 0 to 3 volts?
I have the 1321 hooked up to an omegadyne LCH series load cell. I can not null the offset. I tested the potentiometer and it is working. Why am I not able to null the offset. The jumpers are enabled.

Even though a gain of 100 is applied to a signal, the driver actually automatically adjusts the value back to the original range after the analog to digital conversion. The gain is applied prior to the A to D conversion in order to take advantage of the full range of the A to D converter in order to maximize resolution. As for the null offset, I would recommend taking a look at the LabVIEW example below that illustrates how to accomplish this. Respond if you still have problems.

How do I connect a 1/4 bridge to a scxi 1121 with a 1321 module. Do I need bridge completion resistors?

    Hi Joegill,
Follow the link below for a PDF document for a diagram (page 10) on configuring a quarter bridge on a SCXI-1121 module with a SCXI-1321 terminal block. You will notice that R1 & R2 are completion resistors for the configuration. All manuals are online and are generally a great resource for these questions.

  • To what limits (lower and upper) are the PXI-6052E boards calibrated for their various gain settings?

I am trying to get some boards calibrated by our metrology lab, but I can't find the relevant information.

I've viewed all, and downloaded most, info at the link that you've mentioned. Unfortunately, the data I'm looking for isn't there. In the E Series Calibration Procedure document, there is an extensive listing of tables that contain calibration data points for a variety of E series boards. However, the 6052E board isn't listed. Elsewhere on the ni website, there is a note to use the 6034E/6035E tables for the 6052E boards. These tables do not contain all the gain settings for the 6052E. I would assume that the 6052E boards were factory calibrated at all possible gain combinations.

  • Can I measure full bridge gage configurations with SCXI1121 and 1321 terminal

    Hello
I designed a load cell that uses a full bridge gage configuration. I have at my lab a SCXI 1121 module with a SCXI 1321 terminal block. I need to know if it is possible to use that hardware configuration in order to make de load cell and the data acquisition system fully functional.
    Thank you.
Best regards from Bogotá, Colombia, South America

    Juan,
The full brige configuration you are speaking of requires four wires, two for voltage and two for excitation, is this correct? If so here is a link that you might find helpful.
    Full Bridge Configuration
This reference is for strain gauges, but the connection for a full bridge is going to be the same. The channel plus and minus and excitation plus and minus can be connected to the 1321 for the individual channel. To configure the proper gain, filtering, and excitation mode and level, please refer to the Getting Started with SCXI on pages 3-14 through 3-23 (pages 51-60 in the .pdf).

  • Regarding SCXI-1121

I am using scxi-1121 for signal value of 50mv and less.but when I acquire there is lot of noise what to do?

    Hello Haider,
The SCXI-1121 is great for signal conditioning. It can both amplify and filter your signal internally. The users manual can be found here. Chapter two describes how to set the jumpers manually for both gain and filtering. The goal of the gain stages is to boost your signal as close to the 10 V max as you can. For up to 50mv signals, you would want a gain of about 200. After setting the jumpers, make sure you tell the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) what jumper settings you have configured.
If none of these suggestions help, please post the software and versions you are using, the applicable portions of your code, an
d any other information that may help, and Ill be happy to look further into it.

  • Why is it so chaotic to Sync Settings between apps of Adobe CC 2014? (and to transfer settings from CC to CC 2014)

Although, in general I'm a big fan of the Adobe Products and the CC Idea, I think that some parts of it were not ready for launch.
The part that mostly disturbs me is the settings syncing / Update. (Or "Seamless Update")
    Concerning the updates:
I had own workspace in all the CC Adobe Apps, the only CC 2014 App that imported the previous settings in the new app at the first start was Photoshop.
Indesign made it through the Edit => Migrate previous local settings
Illustrator by copying the settings files manually
in Dreamweaver and Flash I had to recreate the workspace manually (which finally took less time then trying  to sync settings.)
So long for the Seamless update that wasn't so seamless.
    Concerning the settings syncing
Why could'nt adobe have the settings syncing working the same way in all it's CC 2014 applications? ( File Menu on PC / The Name of the App Menu on Mac => Sync Settings, upload or download settigns; done!)
    Instead (on mac) :
In Photoshop: Photoshop => my account name => upload and download settings ( and no way to import settings from previous version )
In Illustrator: Illustrator => my account name => Sync Settings ( and I cannot import settings from the previous version, only from the same version )
in Indesign: Indesign => my account name => Sync Settings ( and the only CC 2014 App where the "Migrate previous local settings" function is working )
in Dreamweaver => my account name => Sync Settings and a button on the far right of the upper toolbar (and no way to import previous version's local settings)
in Flash => my account name => Sync Settings and a button on the far right of the upper toolbar (and no way to import previous version's local settings)
in Premiere Pro => my account name => Sync Settings with the possibility to clear settings and to use settings from a different account
Appart from that update and syncing chaos, the syncing between two computers simply doesn't seem to work ( at least for me).
I have a computer at work and a laptop at home and I'd like to have the same workspace in my apps at home as at work for occasional home working.
I created and configured my custom workspaces on the mac at work and then synced settings (respectively uploaded them in Photoshop). I had cleared all the saved settings from the Creative Cloud online account first.
I arrived at home, tried to sync settings but no workspace was implemented. (and before you ask, yes i had checked that the workspaces should be synced and that, on the laptop at home, the cloud settings should be applied.)
After few tryings I gave up and ended up recreating my setings on both machine. Frankly I don't know why the sync settings are for, since they just don't seem to work.
I really think you should rethink this feature: make it simpler, working THE SAME WAY in all Adobe apps, and, well, just working!
I'd just like to log into creative cloud an any computer, sync settings, and be able to use my custom created workspace.
I posted this in the Cloud Forum since, in my opinion, the settings syncing is a cloud matter and not a matter of each app individually.

  • How do I get an SCXI-1121 to turn on its output analog voltage?

I don't know if this is operator error or a hardware problem. I have never used an SCXI-1121 before to provide power to an instrument. The incoming signal on the 1121 responds like a champ when I drive the instrument from an external power supply, indicating all the connections are good. However, I guess I don't know the right Labview .vi to turn on the excitation voltage. Please help! Thanks, Bill

    Bill-
    A couple questions:
    1) What sensor are you trying to measure?
    2) What kind of excitation does it require?
    3) Do you have NI-DAQ installed?
    4) How are you reading this voltage?
    5) Have you configured the chassis and data acquisition device in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
The best way to troubleshoot problems of this nature is in MAX. You can create a virtual channel and test it in MAX. To create a virtual channel, right click on the Data Neighborhood folder. Select create new, then NI-DAQmx global channel. Follow that wizard to create your custom channel. Then you can test it there (green test button).
Another thought, does your device require more current or voltage excitation than the SCXI 1121 can provide?
    Voltage Excitation: 10V or 3.33V
    Current Excitation: .15mA or .45mA
    Hope this helps.

  • SCXI 1001, SCXI-1102 and SCXI-1303 not working correctly with DAQmx

I have recently upgraded from Labview 6.5 to Labview 8.2 and now my SCXI 1001 with a SCXI 1102 and SCXI 1303 terminal block no longer reads the correct voltage.  Using the old version of labview thermocouple measurements are correct at 0.5mV; however using the new version of labview and DAQmx the thermocouples are reading 5V.  Everything is installed correctly as it still works with the older version of Labview, is there something that needs to be reset or change so that teh SCXI will function properly with DAQmx?

    Hello ilabtech,
From my understanding you are using an SCXI 1001 chassis with an SCXI 1102 and 1303 terminal block to perform thermocouple measurements.  You are upgrading to LabVIEW 8.2 and DAQmx.  I am assuming you were using LabVIEW 6.1 since there isn’t a LabVIEW 6.5.  You mentioned that are able to get a correct reading of 0.5 mV with LabVIEW 6.1 but you see a rail of 5V with LabVIEW 8.2 and DAQmx.
My first suggestion is that you ensure that the SCXI is set at the appropriate range and for the correct thermocouple type.  You can also configure these settings in MAX as detailed on page 27 of the SCXI 1102 User Manual and Specifications Guide.
My second suggestion is for you to start off using an example program to see if you see the same error.  When you are in a LabVIEW 8.2 VI you can go to Help>>Find Examples to open the NI Example Finder.  You then choose Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx>>Analog Measurements>>Temperature>> Cont. Acq Thermocouple Samples-Int CLK.vi.   This example program is supported by your hardware and is a good resource to use to troubleshoot.
If these suggestions aren't helpful please answer the following questions in your reply.
    1.        I would like to know what range you have set the SCXI 1102 to read.
    2.       What version of DAQmx are you using?  You can find the version my opening Measurement and Automation explorer (MAX), expanding the “Software “and clicking on NI-DAQmx.
    3.       What operating system are you using?
    4.  Does your Traditional DAQ program work in LabVIEW 8.2?

  • Has anyone ever successfully done a cont double buffer acq from multiple SCXI channels AND a spare AI of the MIO that controls the SCXI chassis at the same time?

I am trying do a sanity check before I order some hardware.
What I want to do is acquire from multiple channels in a SCXI chasis and as part of the same acquisition, also read from one of the "un-used" AI channels of the MIO card.
    My concern is this:
All of the channels of the SCXI chassis get multiplexed down into a single channel of the MIO card that controls the SCXI chassis. This means that channel 0 has to do multiple A/D conversions to get a reading from all of the configured SCXI channels.
Meanwhile, the other AI channel of the MIO only has to do one to get it's reading. It seems that the on-boar
d clock of the MIO would have to run at two rates to be able to read all of my SCXI channels AND the other AI channel.
    What I want to do:
I want to just configure a vitual channel for all of my SCXI channels AND one more for one "odd-ball" signal that is incompatable with all of the SCXI modules.
Then I just want to list all of my virtual channels when I configure and start my continuous double buffered acquisition.
I have successfully done all SCXI channels before, but I have never tried to use one of the un-used AI on the MIO at the same time. I have used the spare DIO lines previously, but that will not work in this app.
    So...
If you have done this and it worked, I would greatly appreciate hearing about any special techniques that were used, etc.

  • NIDAQmx equivalent to SCAN_Start() & Gain settings

I have some questions regarding multiple sampling (sequential, not simultaneous) for a 6251 card we have ordered.
    I
am translating my Trad. NIDAQ code into DAQmx. I saw that
you can assign different "gains" to multiple channels within a task by
configuring the same task handle for different physical channels
independently. However, there doesn't seem to be much information on
the timing for sequential sampling that would result from this.
    1. Do the channels get sampled in the order in which they are configured?
    2.
If you choose a particular internal timebase and rate with
DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming, will the sequential channel sampling adhere to
    the same timing?
    3. If the answer to (2) is no, then how does one choose the data format which includes timing information (Waveform format?)?
    4. Is it possible to get unscaled integer output that still contains timing information?
    I
also had a question about the input range settings that have replaced
gain settings. I think the 625x cards use bipolar ranges. If I use
min/max values of, for example, 6.0V/10.0V, would the internal scaling
use +/-10V range or a +/-2V range with some kind of offset?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tanaya

    Hi Tanaya,
You can set up different scan lists by creating global channels that correspond with physical channels in your task.  The following Knowledge Base article addresses this issue.
Can I Sample One Channel Multiple Times Before Switching to the Next Channel In My DAQ Channel List?
However, rather than sampling the same channel multiple times, you would simply be changing the order of your sampled channels by using the global channels.
    I hope this helps!

  • Does NI offer anything that can handle an AC Excitation similar to the SCXI 1121 which has DC Excitation?

I have a LeBow strain gauge Torque Sensor that requires 10 VAC Excitation does NI have anything to accomodate this? I know the SCXI 1121 handles 10 VDC Excitation.

    Joey,
We only offer one SCXI module with VAC excitation, but the highest voltage it can give is 3 Vrms (1-3 Vrms) and in frequency from 2.5 to 10 kHz. You can take a look to it by going to the main page at www.ni.com, and then click on the link for "Product Catalog", then select "Products and Services" and select "Signal Conditioning"... then select "SCXI", then "SCXI Analog Input", and then on the select box that says "Signal Conditioning Feature" select "Excitation"...and then click on the "SCXI 1540" link... or follow this link as well...
    SCXI 1540 Catalog Page
In your case if you really need the 10VAC excitation, you most probably are going to need an external excitation source.
    Good luck!...
