  • About:config Javascript Enable/Disable not working correctly

It used to be that the About:Config Javascript Enable/Disable toggle was an all or nothing swtich. If you turned it off, it was turned off for all of Firefox, including and most importantly active loaded pages with interactive content. It was an absolute need for defense against rouge pages that would do things like trap the close page function and open up many more pages when you closed a page. Other pages would attempt to download code repeatedly and the only way to truly "escape" those pages was to open up a tab with About:Config and toggle the Javascript Enabled option. This is still there, but the behavior has changed in Version 29. It no longer turns off Javascript for all pages loaded or future loaded, only future loaded ones have it turned off. This is a show stopper. Get it back to disabling for all loaded pages or we won't use Firefox anymore.

The problem of being trapped in an onbeforeclose event handler was tackled directly. You should not encounter that problem any more as of a few versions ago. (And/or you could use my Escape bookmarklet: [http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/bookmarklets.html#escape])
I'm not familiar with the other issue of sites trying to download code repeatedly.

  • Testing for Javascript Enabled Browsers

    Hi,
I am using the <NOSCRIPT> tags to send a message to the user if their browser is not javascript enabled. My code looks like this:

  • ALV Web Dynpro for ABAP enable/disable single row

    hi all,
is it possible to change the layout of one single row or cell in a alv (component SALV_WD_TABLE) web dynpro for abap?
i managed to get columns to be editable using the tutorial "Editing ALV in Web Dynpro for ABAP".
but it is not described how to change a single row or cell in this tutorial. also the example programs i found do not get into this subject.
    did i miss something?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
I think you cannot set the focus to the particular cell.
I think you can  loop at that row of that table and set the the cell design to apply some color to differentiate that way rather than focusing so that user can know that he has to do something in that cell.
    check out this example salv_wd_test_table_focus

  • App for easily enabling/disabling 3G/WiFi etc

Why are there no apps available for easily turning on and off power-intense functions such as 3G, WiFi etc? It's extremely cumbersome and unsatisfactory having to go through 4-5 menus 15-20 times per day.
I have no particular wish to jailbreak my iPhone, but please, Apple, damnit, make me an app that lets me do what BossPrefs does.
    /C

There won't be any apps as none would have access to the API's necessary to do this. Suggest such to Apple:

The program has 2 engagement models (explained in the blog), each of them associated to a specific fee.
In a nutshell, the program includes a one or two-day workshop on Gateway, to be realized in each of the worldwide COIL locations (Bangalore, India; Palo Alto, USA; São Paulo, Brazil; Tokyo, Japan; and Walldorf, Germany), access to a development/test environment for up to 3 months, and the technical support of COIL & Gateway development teams, there including recurring feedback conference calls to follow-up on the project progress.

  • In Firefox 30, JavaScript is Disabled.

When I try to go on a website in Firefox 30, the website is not arranged correctly, most times the website will ask for me to enable JavaScript. I have looked at other Threads and could not find anything about JavaScript in the Options menu. I would add troubleshoot information, but I had to post this in Google Chrome(Firefox did not work)

    then follow these steps:
In the address bar, type: about:config and press Enter.
Click "I'll be careful, I promise" if a warning message appears.
In the search box, search for javascript.enabled
Toggle the "javascript.enabled" preference (right-click and select "Toggle" or double-click the preference) to change the value from "false" to "true".

  • Why can't we simply have an option to enable/disable Javascript on sites again in the settings for Firefox 27? Suddenly my Gmail attachments won't open. Gmail.

Suddenly my Gmail attachments have stopped opening, and I receive the message: JavaScript must be enabled in order for you to use Gmail in standard view. However, it seems JavaScript is either disabled or not supported by your browser. To use standard view, enable JavaScript by changing your browser options, then try again.
I found a Mozilla support thread where it was explained that Javascript has been turned off for a while in FF. OK. Then there was a complicated answer about how you could still turn it back on by typing in a config code into the address bar. What? Or, you could download an extension to do that for you. Why?
Please-- if you really feel like users can't be trusted, and Javascript must be turned off, at least bring back the ability to enable/disable Javascript on a per site basis in options, without having to know code. It's Gmail.
    Thank you.

There is nothing on that thread that says Javascript is turned off by default. to quote:
"In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and protect users from unintentially damaging their Firefox, the option to disable JavaScript was removed from the Firefox Options window.
However, the option to disable JavaScript was not removed from Firefox entirely. You can still access it from about:config or by installing an add-on. "
The UI checkbox to disable Javascript was removed, but the option still exists in about:config (which isn't code btw, it's just preferences), nor was Javascript turned off by default, in fact the opposite is true, it is enabled by default with the option to disable it made a little more difficult to find, as only advanced users need to disable Javascript.
Please try to clear the cache and cookies for gmail, let's see if those are causing problems. [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer]], [[How to clear the Firefox cache]]

  • Screen Personas 2.0 Enable/Disable script button in Javascript

    Hi,
Has anyone tried enabling or disabling script buttons on a flavor using Javascript. I have two script buttons,
The first one (Button1) searches for a contract based on the contract id provided by the user in a text box. (So, the script triggers the transaction me33k, fetches and displays the relevant fields in the flavor)
Now, based on whether the contract is present in the system the user needs to click another script button (Button2) which will allow him to create an order. Currently the button is disabled (ScriptButton.IsEnabled = false in the Properties menu).
In the Button1 script towards the end, I need to enable Button2 is a contract is found. So in the Button1 script, at the final step I try to calculate in JS and write the following JS code,
    var args.btn2id = document.getElementById("Personas/blahblahblah");
    args.btn2id.disabled = false;
But this is never works. And I have noticed that the control id does not return the control object in Javascript (so, args.btn2id is always null) and I tried removing the '/' and various other options.
Has anyone ever tried to enable/disable buttons in Personas? Is it even possible?
    Abhijeet

You don't have access to the Personas control properties from JavaScript to dynamically change them.
About the only thing that comes to mind is Tobias' method to hide the script button if you want to disable it.

  • Alternative to enable/disable javascript ?

I am looking all the time into Firefox options but there is no option into the menu to disable or enable javascript. Is there any alternative solution or only "about:config" trick (which is very uncomfortable)...

The check boxes to enable/disable JavaScript and load images automatically have been removed from "Options > Content".

Some extensions that you can look at:
    *SettingSanity: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/settingsanity/
    *QuickJava: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/quickjava/
The PrefBar extension also comes with a button to toggle JavaScript globally and only for the current tab.

  • Passing Javascript Enabled or Disabled value in a custom tag

    Hi,
In my JSP I am using a custom tag.
This custom tag is having one attribute called status(whose value will be jsenabled means true or jsdisabled means false) depending on the browser's javascript enabled or disabled
How can i find the value of javascript enabled or javascript disabled and set the value of the attribute status in my jsp.
    This is the custom tag
    <t:tab summary="tabs" url="/services/eservicepac/registrationprocess/process.wss" tabNames='<%=tabList%>' currentTab="<%=currentTab%>" zone="WWW_ZONE" fetchText="false" status=" "
    </t:tab>
The value of this attribute status=" " should be the value of jsenabled or disabled.
Since the user can visit any page at any time, the jsenabled value is not maintained in session or request, so i can't take from session or request also.
    As this is urgent,

    Hi Merlin,
In addition to what was written above, you must make sure that you tell your web application to run as a JSP 2.0 web application.
You do this by defining your web.xml a little differently. Like this at the top:
    <web-app version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee web-app_2_4.xsd">
That should be what you need to get it working correctly.

  • Enable/disable ACLs for a volume

where is the option enable/disable ACLs for a volume in leopard server 10.5x?
I searched in Server Admin and there Volumes … but I cant find this option which is described in this forum ?!

    Hi
By default Access Control Lists (ACLs) are enabled on Leopard Server (10.5). The situation was different on Tiger Server (10.4) as you had to enable ACLs for each mounted volume.
To disable ACLs on Leopard Server you have to use the command line:
sudo fsaclctl -p path -d disable
    to disable and to enable:
sudo fsaclctl -p path -d enable
As with 10.4 you its a good idea to restart the server after disabling or enabling ACLs, otherwise ACLs won't take. Strictly speaking this should only be true of the Boot volume although in my view its worth doing it for any other mounted volume you are going to be using for sharing.
To display ACL status for all mounted volumes issue this command:
    fsaclctl -a
    for a specific volume its:
    fsaclctl -p path
where path is the name of the volume - you can drag drop the desired volume into the terminal window to show its full path. For example you could have:
    fsaclctl -p /
/ is terminal shorthand for the boot volume. Regardless of how you do it you should see something like this:
Access control lists are supported on /Volumes/Data HD
