Configuring Java DB Connections with a DAD

Is there any possible way in OAS/OC4J a Java web app could access a DAD to retrieve connection information?
Thanks.

Hi ,
I have already solved the problem by simply defining a different database user each db connection is based on....
However , the question is how could i solve - if i could- this kind of problem , simply by defining the same db user on all db connections.....If i have understood your post this could be done via the use of BPEL Process Manager.....
However , i thank you very much for your interest.....

• Java applet - Connection with OS

I wrote some Java code to get the date and time via a NTP server.
I get the correct date/time from the server and store it in a variable.
Now I woudl like to pass the value to the 'date' command on the OS (Suse Linux), using JNI.
Two problems:
- How do I get the program to have root access to the 'date' command to change the date and time ?
- How do I execute the 'date' command from within Java ?

• Jdeveloper connecting with SQL Server Express

Hi i am trying to connect jdeveloper with SQL Server Express. At the moment i am getting a TCP/IP connection to the host error message.
My connection string is as follows:
Class.forName("com.micorosoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver")
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sqlserver://mustang/sqlexpress; database = matt1; Uid = matt; Pwd = matt1")
Can someone please help me!

Enable TCP/IP protocol. Select Microsoft SQL Server 2005>Configuration Tools>SQL Server Configuration Manager. In the SQL Server Configuration Manager select the node SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration>Protocols for SQLEXPRESS. Right-click on the TCP/IP node and select Enable. Restart the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service. In Adminstrative Tools>Services, right-click on the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service and select Restart.
To configure a JDBC connection with SQL Server 2005 Express, add SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver JAR file <Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver>/sqljdbc_1.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar to classpath. <Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver> is the directory in which SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver zip file is installed.
Driver class for SQL Server 2005 database is com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver. Connection URL for the default SQL Server 2005 database is jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:<port>.
In the connection URL, <port> is obtained from the SQL Server configuration Manager. When the SQL Server 2005 SQLEXPRESS is restarted the port number changes.
To obtain the <port> in the SQL Server Configuration Manager, select the node SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration>Protocols for SQLEXPRESS. Right-click on TCP/IP node and select Properties. Select the IP Addresses tab. In IP ALL, the TCP Dynamic Ports specifies the <port> value. The connection URL format for another database name is shown in following listing.

• Oracle8i connectivity with php4 in winXP

i have installed oracle server 8i and php4.3.4 as a module of apache web server in windows XP. for oracle connectivity i have uncommented the php_oracle.dll and php_oci8.dll in php.ini file in the windows directory. and made the extension_dir=”c:/phpwin/extensions/”. but still oracle is not connected with php cause it can't recognize the ocilogon function.
i donot install client (oracle).Will i install client?
if i do then how i connect it to the server or configure it to connect with php?
and if i don't then how i configure oracle? In this connection i want to add that i have found in the oracle folder oracle/network/admin there is tnsnames, sqlnet etc. do I need to configure it?
Every time it is said that set environmental variable. how can I do that?

PHP needs some Oracle libraries either from a Client or Database
install. If you already have the database installed on the machine
with PHP and Apache then you don't need a separate Oracle client
install.
Load the script:
<?php
phpinfo();
?> and check what environment variables are found. Is the Oracle bin
directory in PATH?

Can anyone send me example of Java Servlet connectivity with Oracle.
i m not able to connect servlet with oracle.
u guys can reply me on [email protected]
thanks
dal hit

No.
The code for connecting to Oracle from a Servlet is no different from connecting to Oracle from any other Java application. So tell you what, you show us what you've tried and the error message(s) and we'll help you debug it.
99.999% of the time it's a failure to put the driver Jar file into the classpath, the specifics of which vary from application server to application server. Which one are you using?
u guys can reply me on [email protected]
We can, but we won't. This is not your personal bugfixing service. Pay if you want that kind of help. If you want it for free, do it through the forums or go away.
Probably you'll never read this response, but that's your problem not mine.

I have already tried this before and this not work too, but strange that even if I use JDBC:ODBC bridge driver, the return value for output parameters are not correct, that is, only return the value that I input but not the value after executed in the procedure....
The code that I used with JDBC:ODBC bridge is as follow:
public static void main(String[] args) {
String url = "jdbc:odbc:;DRIVER=SQL Server;Persist Security Info=False;database=db;Server=sql;uid=sa;pwd=pwd";
Connection con;
ResultSet rs = null;
CallableStatement callS = null;
try {
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
} catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e) {
System.err.print("ClassNotFoundException: ");
System.err.println(e.getMessage());
try {
con=DriverManager.getConnection(url);
callS = con.prepareCall("{ call dbo.CpJavaTest (?)}");
callS.registerOutParameter(1, Types.INTEGER);
callS.execute();
rs=callS.getResultSet();
int ret = callS.getInt(1);
System.out.println("return value : " + ret);
while (rs.next()) {
String f1 = rs.getString(4);
String f2 = rs.getString(5);
System.out.println(f1 + " " + f2);
} catch(SQLException ex) {
System.out.println("SQLException: " + ex.getMessage());
The value of the output parameter is same as what I inputed! Hope any one can teach me how to correct it...
Thank you very much!

• Connecting with ODSM to OVD fails caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

Hi,
I have made a fresh new install of an Oracle Virtual Directory server running on Windows 2003 32-bit and an ODSM server (Weblogic) running on Windows 2003 64-bit using FMW Identity Management 11.1.1.2 for both OVD and ODSM (OVD of course being 32-bit and ODSM the 64-bit version).
When I try to connect with ODSM to my OVD server the first time without using SSL and connecting to port 8899 I get a pop-up telling me to look for a "Server Exception during PPR, #1" error in the log. The log shows me indeed a javax.servlet.ServletException: javax/wsdl/OperationType caused by Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/wsdl/OperationType Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.wsdl.OperationType.
When I try it a second time with the same settings it tells me to look for a "Server Exception during PPR, #2[[" in the log. The log now shows me a javax.servlet.ServletException: Could not initialize class com.octetstring.vde.admin.services.client.VDEAdminServiceSoapBindingStub Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.octetstring.vde.admin.services.client.VDEAdminServiceSoapBindingStub.
Connecting using SSL fails with the same error as the second attempt without it except the error is now #3.
Any idea what might be going wrong here? Could it be the firewall between ODSM and OVD? Is it using more than port 8899 to connect? Or is it the difference between 32/64 bit platform and the 64-bit JVM that is missing some classes? What is it?
Thanks in advance,
Bart.

Hi,
I got the environment working.
Here is the environment details

• SLD configuration - JCO connection with SAP Router

Hi,
I installed the new Sneak Preview SP11 Java Edition including SAP Portal. I tried to run an own Web Dynpro Application with RFC-Access on a R/3 System.
Unfortunately I was not able to get the JCO Connection to run. The R/3 System is reached via SAP Router. I am a little bit confused, because with the last Sneak Preview (SP6 or SP7) this application was running without problems. Of course I thought that this can't be. So I uninstalled SP11 and installed the old version (SP7). I configured the JCO-connection, no problems.
Now I know that this is not my mistake (hopefully ).
If I configured a JCO-connection in SP11 and tried to PING, the first PING was ok. After testing the connection with user, the PING failed. The testing with user returns something like "user or password are not accepted".
Any ideas?
Best regards
Renald

In your SLD configuration, what do you have as your Logon Group under the message server config. Is it "PUBLIC". if so, then the user id needs to belong to that Logon Group in the system.
