Configuring Listen Address for a machine / node manager

Hi,
If I give the localhost as value for the Listen Address for the machine (and this the Node Manager), I can start/stop any managed server belonging to the domain
and related machine.
When I change this address to the value of the IP address I get from "ping hostname" (that is to be found in /etc/hosts), or the corresponding host name found in /etc/hosts,
I get the following Warning from the Console:
- For server <managed server>, the Node Manager associated with machine MyMachine02 is not reachable.
- All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. No action will be performed.
Can someone explain me how can a machine and the node manager be configured with another value than localhost for the Listen Address?
Is there maybe a configuration that must be done at physical server level?
Having this functionality will be a necessity for a cluster.
Thanks by advance for sharing your experience.

Actually the cert is coming from your Dev machine but it is sending the Prod cert.
What cert is used by your admin server ? It should match the host name.
So your Dev machine is apparently using a copy of the prod cert / keystore rather than using its own DEV cert. It's not clear from your post whether this is the nodemanager using the wrong cert, or the managed server. So both should be checked.
The managed servers need to be using a cert that matches their host name. If you have a managed server on VM-BEA-DEV, then the cert needs to be CN=VM-BEA-DEV. You can also use a load-balancer CN name in the cert if you have the cluster's HTTP values set to match.
In your nodemanager.properties, are you explicitly accessing keystores, such as with:
KeyStores=CustomIdentityAndJavaStandardTrust
CustomIdentityAlias=some_alias
CustomIdentityKeyStoreFileName=some_path_to_keystore
CustomIdentityKeyStorePassPhrase={3DES}...
CustomIdentityKeyStoreType=jks
CustomIdentityPrivateKeyPassPhrase={3DES}
In my multi-machine clusters, I have multiple certificates such as:
admin machine1:
has a cert for use by the admin server and NM that matches the host name ( with node manager.properties entries such as the above )
has a 2nd cert that matches the load-balancer name for the cluster - used by the managed servers
all other machines:
has a cert for use by NM that matches the host name ( with node manager.properties entries such as the above )
has a 2nd cert that matches the load-balancer name for the cluster - used by the managed servers

  • Configuring SUP address for IBCM Clients

    I have a question about how to configure SUP address for clients that will be roaming from Intranet to the Internet (aka VPN Users)
    Currently I have IBCM up and running.  Clients report in and are able to download and install software from the IBCM DP.  Currently we have group policy's configured to point clients to the correct internal WSUS/SUP servers.
    For clients to use IBCM and Internet based SUP is a Windows Update group policy not possible at all?  For example is the only way for clients use the IBCM SUP to have absolutely no WSUS Group Policy configured?  Is configuring a Domain Group
    Policy to have clients point to the Internet Based IBCM SUP not possible?
    SCCM 2012 R2
    Thank you.

    You can create a group policy to point to your SUP.  Configure the policy, Specify Intranet Microsoft Update Service Location.  Its located in Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Windows Update.  Note
    that the local group policy will be created regardless of using the domain group policy.  So, its just a redundant effort.

  • For server the Node Manager associated with machine is not reachable

    Hello all,
    I am getting this error, when i start my Managed Server which is in shutdown state
    For server SAA-Dev-1, the Node Manager associated with machine vm-bea-dev is not reachable.
    All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager. No action will be performed.
    The configuration details are
    i am using weblogic 9.2 MP3 version in windows 2k3 server.
    It has a machine vm-bea-dev, a cluster cluster-saa-dev, to which both the managed servers saa-dev-1 and saa-dev-2 are assigned. There are 3 applications deployed onto managed Server 1 and 1 for managed Server 2.
    Managed Server 1 is in shutdown state, and when i start the server, it gives the error specified below

    The same for Managed Server 2 too, and this server is in Admin State, i dont know how it went into that state.
    Can somebody please help me reslove it.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to configure IP address for FTA (Nova's nFusion) PVR IP recording...

    Greetings Peers,
    I just got my Time Capsule (TC) yesterday and absolutely have very limited experience with Airport Utility or networking - that said I somehow figured out how to setup a new secured wireless network and it is up & running!
    I'm testing this absolute great Free-to-Air (FTA) satellite receiver called *Nova nFusion* where there is a functionality option to record your personal video (PVR) on a IP address.
    Here's my dilemma, I have tried punching in IP address from what AirPort Utility (AU) displays for Time Capsule (TC) several times but receiver *would fail* to record anything!
    I have tried to tweak general settings like enabling sharing in the manual setup for TC under AU but like I said I'm not an expert and it didn't work.
    Wondering:
    1) If anyone has success setting up similar PVR over IP?
    2) Is this even feasible? Honestly, I don't see why not? Cause I'm also planning to have move my iTunes library folder on TC so I could access it from my Mac Mini, iBook, AppleTV, etc. etc.
    I have high hopes specially since I care less and actually do not want to utilize Time Machine feature at all! I'm sure you geniuses have already figured this out. Please HELP!!!
    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated-
    Cheers!

    Tapori wrote:
    I've been trying the IP address which shows up on the welcome screen of AirPort Utility but that could be very much TC's Router Address cause it's showing up in AirPort Utility?
    How can I acquire IP address for TC's language 1TB Hard Drive? It can't be this difficult!
    well, as i'm digging deeper, finding the ip address isn't the issue, it's getting your software to record to it, maybe a permissions issue?
    is this open source? can i check it out and see if i can help you this way? if i can get my hands on it i'm pretty sure i'd be more help. if the software just needs an ip address, you got it... so there's another issue. it's in your internal network right? so internal ip's should be fine, no need to port forward...
    just brainstorming out loud.
    Good suggestion but how do you assign a static IP to a Mac Mini which is on the same network (both wiredly and wirelessly connected to TC)?
    open network prefs, select your ethernet connection, configure: using dhcp with manual address, enter ip address (even if it's the same as your DHCP address, this simply assigns it permantly), click apply.
    if you wanted to do this over the wireless network you'd choose the airport from the left, advanced, tcp/ip tab, configure IPv4: using dhcp with manual address, enter ip address (even if it's the same as your DHCP address, this simply assigns it permantly), configure IPv6: automatically, click apply.
    the ethernet connection would have a different IP than your wireless connection to give you the option to switch back and forth while maintaining assigned connectivity elsewhere in your network (ie. pvr ip recording).
    i'm just curious what permissions the pvr ip recorder would have, and where exactly it would record to... (as in which folder... as what user?)

  • Configure Logical Address for Web Applications-Hyperion 11.1.2

    Hello,
    I have f5 load balancer infront of two foundation servers and I have not yet configured the Logical address for web applications with Loadbalancer DNS name/hostnmae. I can access all of web applications through Load Balanced URL. Do I Still need to configure Logical Web Address for web applications ?
    Thank you so much !

    To add to this part of the reason for load balancing is usually to support high availability (in addition to scalability). Without that logic address being setup you will find certain configuration items are pointed to one server or another and if that one server is brought down it impacts key functionality of the whole environment.
    You should consider a test of the infrastructure by purposely bringing down services and/or servers to ensure you still have a fully working environment with the other redundant components. This test may take half a day to several days to really go through a full regression test of key features while taking key pieces down.

  • Mac Pro drive configuration/expansion advice for Time Machine

    I have the following:
    Mac Pro 1Tb internal drive (2 x 500Gb in software RAID, so 2 drive bays used, 2 free)
    500Gb external drive (Formac XTR platinum - 2 x 250Gb in RAID)
    I use SuperDuper to backup the internal to the external - I'm using about 440Gb on the internal and this fits on the external with about 10-20Gb spare. However, my usage of the internal drive is growing, and as Time Machine backups grow in size, my 500Gb external will very quickly lose the ability to go back in time and shortly afterwards run out of space for even a simple backup.
    My options are:
    1. Buy 2 500Gb IDE drives and upgrade the external to 1Tb - Cost about £140. If I put the redundant 250Gb drives in enclosures and sell them, net cost would come down to about £100
    2. Buy single 750Gb SATA drive and install internally for TM backups - cost £110. Sell external drive and cost comes down to about £40
    3. Buy 2 500Gb SATA drives and install inside Mac Pro for Time Machine - Cost about £130. Sell external and cost about £60
    4. Buy single 1Tb SATA drive and install internally for TM backups - cost £200. Sell external and cost about £130
    Pros & Cons
    Option 1 - Con: Left with untidy external enclosure. Pro - 2 internal bays free for expansion.
    Option 2 - Con: Less internal expansion, Pro: No untidy external box, can add another 750Gb drive when required
    Option 3 - Con: No internal expansion. Pro: Ermmm, not sure.
    Option 3 - Con: Most expensive. Pro: Longer time required before need to add another drive.
    I know external drives are useful for off-site backups but I do have a 160Gb and a 320Gb external drives for that purpose (and for TM'ing my MacBook).
    I think I've answered my own question - get a 750Gb SATA drive and stick it inside.
    Regards,
    Steve

    I am in a similar situation. I have a 160gb for my boot/system drive and two 500gb for data, backed up to two other 500gb drives. Both 500gb drives are about 80% full and I bring in 50 or gig a week, paring it down quite a bit, then importing new photos and culling them out again. I may replace my 160 backup drive for my boot partition with a 750gig, but I don't see Time Machine being capable of backing up a 500 or 750gig drive that had several hundred gigs of current data and moves gig after gig onto and then out of the hard drive. I think Time Machine will be really great for many many people, and if it allows me to "roll back" my system to an earlier known-good point in time even better than my current method of using superduper when I feel my system is stable, then Time Machine will be great for me too, but I don't see how it's going to be usable for data backup for heavy professional photographic work or for video backup where large amounts of data are entered, deleted, entered again, deleted, etc etc. There isn't enough anectodal information on Time Machine to know what size is going to be really required, but I think most folks will be surprised at how much room is going to be needed - especially those that use their machines heavily. Mom and Dad who do nothing but a few emails and surfing the web will have no problem, Mac Pro users involved with grahics and video...not so easy I'm afraid. Time will tell.

  • Steps to setup and configure Node Manager on local and remote machine

    Hello,
    I am using WLS 10.3 on Windows.
    I have two machines, One cluster and two managed servers (one on each machine) created under a domain. I have used configuration wizard to create the domain.
    I have gone through documents on Node Manager and found what to configure. But I have not found when to configure. In other words I want to know what is the sequence of steps if I have to set Node Manager on my local machine (in which domain exists) and on remote machine.
    Please let me know the sequence of steps I need to follow to set and configure the Node Manager on local and remote machine. I want to use Java Node Manager (not the Script node manager).
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

    Hello,
    Ok, let me tell you what I have done till now.
    1) Installed WebLogic 10.3 on machine A (local machine, on which I have created domain and my Admin Server is running. Also Managed Server 1 is created on this machine).
    2) Installed WebLogic 10.3 on machine B (remote machine, on which Managed Server 2 will be created).
    3) On machine A I used the configuration wizard and create a domain. While creating the domain I did the following:
    i) Created two managed servers.
    ii) Created a cluster
    iii) Assigned Servers to cluster.
    iv) Created two machines.
    v) Assigned servers to machines (Admin Server and MS_1 to machine A and MS_2 to machine B).
    4) Sarted Admin Server.
    5) On the Admin Console I made some configurations for the Node Manager on Machines -> Machine A -> Node Manager. Assigned the values:
    i) Type (SSL)
    ii) Listen Address (IP_Address of machine A)
    iii) Listen Port (5556)
    6) Similarly did for Machine B.
    So till now phsically the managed server (MS_2) directory and configuration is not there on Machine B (its only configured on machine A because I created the domain on Machine A).
    Now I want install/configure/setup NM on both the machines. Start my both the managed servers using Admin Console (which will use the node managers).
    What are the sequence of steps I need to follow my task?
    Any help and suggestions are welcome with warm regards.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

  • Unable to start Node Manager

    Thanks Jay,
    That worked.
    Also, I've one more doubt.
    I browsed to the $WEBLOGIC_HOME/common/nodemanager directory.
    From there I executed $WEBLOGIC_HOME/server/bin startNodeManager.cmd.
    But before starting there is no "nodemanager.properties" file.
    After I started node manager, it started with default properties, and wrote the same to "nodemanager.properties" file in the same directory I started the node manager from.
    Then I aborted the node manager, edited the property file for SecureListener and then restarted. Then everything went up and fine.
    My question is that is there any default "nodemanager.properties" ?

  • SCAN LISTENER runs from only one node at a time from /etc/hosts !

    Dear all ,
    Recently I have to configure RAC in oracle 11g(r2) in AIX 6.1 . Since in this moment it is not possible to configure DNS, so I dont use SCAN ip into the DNS/GNS, I just add the SCAN ip into the host file like :
    cat /etc/hosts
    SCAN 172.17.0.22
    Got the info from : http://www.freeoraclehelp.com/2011/12/scan-setup-for-oracle-11g-release211gr2.html#ORACLE11GR2RACINS
    After configuring all the steps of RAC , Every services are ok except SCAN_LISTENER . This listener is up only one node at a time . First time when I chek it from node1 , it shows :
    srvctl status scan_listener
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is enabled
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is running on node dcdbsvr1
    now when I relocate it from node 2 using
    "srvctl relocate scan -i 1-n DCDBSVR2" , then the output shows :
    srvctl status scan_listener
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is enabled
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is running on node dcdbsvr2
    Baring these , we have to try to relocate it from the node2 by the following way, then it shows the error :
    srvctl relocate scan -i 2 -n DCDBSVR2
    resource ora.scan2.vip does not exists
    Now my question , How can I run the SCAN and SCAN_LISTENER both of the NODES ?
    Here is my listener file (which is in the GRID home location) configuration :
    Listener File OF NODE1 AND NODE 2:
    ==================================
    ENABLE_GLOBAL_DYNAMIC_ENDPOINT_LISTENER_SCAN1=ON
    ENABLE_GLOBAL_DYNAMIC_ENDPOINT_LISTENER=ON
    LISTENER_SCAN1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC) (KEY = LISTENER_SCAN1)
    ADR_BASE_LISTENER_SCAN1 = /U01/APP/ORACLE
    2)
    Another issue , when I give the command : " ifconfig -a " , then it shows the SCAN ip either node1 or node2 . suppose if the SCAN ip is in the node1 , and then if I run the "relocate" command from node2 , the ip goes to the Node 2 . is it a correct situation ? advice plz ... ...
    thx in advance .. ...

    After configuring all the steps of RAC , Every services are ok except SCAN_LISTENER . This listener is up only one node at a time . First time when I chek it from node1 , it shows :If I am not wrong and after looking at the document you sent, you will be able to use only once scan in case you use /etc/host file and this will be up on only one node where you added this scan entry in /etc/hosts file.
    Now my question , How can I run the SCAN and SCAN_LISTENER both of the NODES ?Probably you can't in your case, you might run only one i think and on one node only
    srvctl status scan_listener
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is enabled
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is running on node dcdbsvr1
    now when I relocate it from node 2 using
    "srvctl relocate scan -i 1 -n DCDBSVR2" , then the output shows :
    srvctl status scan_listener
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is enabled
    SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is running on node dcdbsvr2You moved scan listener from node 1 to node 2, OK
    Baring these , we have to try to relocate it from the node2 by the following way, then it shows the error :
    srvctl relocate scan -i 2 -n DCDBSVR2
    resource ora.scan2.vip does not exists
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Since you have only one scan, you can't relocate "2". So ise "1" instead here also

    You can start a managed server as follows:
    print 'START NODE MANAGER';
    startNodeManager(verbose='true', NodeManagerHome=nodemanagerhomelocation, ListenPort='5556', ListenAddress='localhost');
    print 'CONNECT TO NODE MANAGER';
    nmConnect(adminusername, adminpassword, 'localhost', '5556', domainname, domainlocation, 'ssl');

    start('VideotheekCluster','Cluster');
    nmServerStatus('VideotheekServer1');
    nmServerStatus('VideotheekServer2');JVM properties are set using the admin console and edit the startup properties of your managed server (configuration, server start).
    The properties file (startup.properties) is saved in the directory <domain-home>/servers/<server-name>/data/nodemanager.

  • ASA 5520 : IP address for CSC SSM

    Hi All,
    I have an ASA 5520 with CSC SSM. I have base and plus license and want to activate it. T he IP address and gateway have to be configured on the CSC SSM. I have configured IP addresses for the INSIDE,OUTSIDE,DMZ and MGMT. The outside is a public IP address. Now for the CSC SSM what range should i give?
    There is an ISA server on the DMZ where all user IP's get PATed and on ASA this gets NATed on the ASA. Direct access to the internet exists for the servers (bypassing proxy).
    My basic doubt is about the IP address and gateway that the CSC SSM should have and is it related ot the management interface ip address?
    Thanks and Regards.
    Sonu

    Hi
    put your CSC ip address as outside interface subnet.because CSC needs automatic updates from internet.and you can able to manage CSC from remote itself.
    for EX
    your outside ip is 10.0.0.1/24,make CSC IP As 10.0.0.2/24,Gateway 10.0.0.1
    Hopes this helps

  • Starting Manage Server using node manager

    Hi,
    Hi,
    I am using Weblogic server 11g and I have deployed Admin server in one of my unix machine(machine1) and i able to start my Admin server using node manager, and when i try to start my Managed server in another machine(machine2) using the node manager(that machine node manager) its throwing error;
    Note: am able to start Managed server using Adminurl and able to connect to Managed server node manager successfully,
    but not able to start Managed server using node manager
    its giving exception as below;
    error:- wls:/nm/webdomain> nmStart('ms1')
    Starting server ms1 ...
    Error Starting server ms1: weblogic.nodemanager.NMException: Exception while starting server 'ms1'
    plz help me out in this
    Thanks in advance

    An example to start managed servers on different machine is provided here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=6637
    "By default, WebLogic is installed and configured with the DemoIdentity.jks keystore. This certificate and key are created by utils.CertGen with the default options of containing only the host name in the common name field (cn), and not the fully-qualified DNS name. As a result, attempts to establish SSL connections may fail in some situations due to a host name verification exception. When using the demo certificates in a multi-server domain, managed server instances will fail to boot if they cannot establish an SSL connection with the Admin Server and the a BAD_CERTIFICATE error is generated. This error occurs because the host name verifier, which is enabled by default in all WebLogic domains and which is used during the SSL handshake, compares the value of the cn field in the certificate with the fully-qualified DNS name of the SSL server that accepts the SSL connection. If these names do not match, the SSL connection is dropped."

  • Duplicate IP address in two machines

    Dear All,
    The machines we manufacture have several Programmable logic Controllers (PLC's) and other Ethernet devices. For the ease of software updates and the complexity of changing the IP addresses within the devices we keep the same IP addresses for each machine.
    What Cisco product could we use to view these machines from a single computer? And some tips in setting it up.
    We are not able to change the port numbers of the programming software we use (Allen-Bradleys RSLogix).
    I have been able to route from two IP addresses using an ASA5505 with policy rules, saying one IP address would route thru to machine one and another IP address routes thru to machine two. But I don't know how to do it from one IP address.
    Each machine does not need to communicate with another.
    I have attached a drawing.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi John,
    As I said, you either need to use two devices, or an ASA in multi context mode (creating two virtual firewlls completely independent of each other).
    So, on each network device you NAT the IPs of Machine1 and so on with unique IPs, while the other network device, maps the Machine2 IPs with different NAT IPs.
    ASA1 virtual firewall behind Machine1
    192.168.100.180 - NAT to 192.168.1.180
    192.168.100.184 - NAT to 192.168.1.184
    192.168.100.173 - NAT to 192.168.1.173
    192.168.100.174 - NAT to 192.168.1.174
    ASA2 virtual firewall behind Machine2
    192.168.100.180 - NAT to 192.168.2.180
    192.168.100.184 - NAT to 192.168.2.184
    192.168.100.173 - NAT to 192.168.2.173
    192.168.100.174 - NAT to 192.168.2.174
    The PC will connect to Machine1 and 2 using the NAT addresses:
    192.168.1.180
    192.168.1.184
    192.168.1.173
    192.168.1.174
    192.168.2.180
    192.168.2.184
    192.168.2.173
    192.168.2.174
    The trick is to configure the vitrual firewalls so that each Machine will be associated to a different virtual device.
    http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a00808d2b63.shtml
    Also, you can use two small routers for this instead of multimode ASA.
    Please rate if this helped.
    Regards,
    Daniel
