Configuring weblogic 9.2 domain on Solaris box through Eclipse in Windows

Hi,
I'm able to configure weblogic domain on a solaris 10 box from eclipse form windows machine. But while trying to start the server through eclipse i'm getting the error "Error Launching Executable"
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Prasanth

First of all you should check out which products are supported on 64bit :- http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/hyperion-supported-platforms.html
If you are planning on using windows 64bit EAS then you will have to manually deploy the web application, it cannot be automatically deployed.
Cheers

    Hi,
Make sure that you have weblogic.jar and jython-modules.jar
You will find weblogic.jar under %BEA_Home% / server / lib
    and you will find jython-modules.jar under %BEA_Home% / common / wlst/modules

Any thoughts or suggestions to resolve this issue will be highly appreciated.

    Hi,
This error could be happening due to the presence of bouncy castle jar files (bcxxxx.jar) in the class path.
Please check the classpath for such entries and remove it.
See if it helps to create the domain successfully or not.
    Thanks,

  • How to install and configure WebLogic 10.3 to use 64-bit JDK?

    Hi,
Is there a preferred/supported way to configure WebLogic to use the 64-bit JRockit that comes with JRockit Mission Control?
I can't find any official documentation about how to configure WebLogic to use a 64-bit JDK. From other forum posts I can tell we need to use the 64-bit JRockit that is bundled with JRockit Mission Control (available at [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jrockit/index.html]) but then we are kind of stuck - the configure script which let me select a JDK for a domain doesn't seem to let me re-configure an existing domain, and I can't find anything within the admin console that would let me set the JDK to use.
I was able to rename the existing jrockit_160_05 directory to e.g. jrockit_160_05_original and then rename the jrmc directory to "jrockit_160_05", effectively taking the place of the JDK being used but this seemed like a bad way to do it. I also found via Google this page: [http://java.sodeso.nl/application-servers/bea-weblogic/how-can-i-change-the-jdk-installation-that-weblogic-uses] which basically says to modify the JAVA_HOME environment variable in the start scripts, but this seems like the same thing.
With the plethora of products and the different ways they are bundled, combined with all the documentation about everything, I thought I would find something but I keep coming up blank. Does anyone have suggestions or pointers?
    Thanks,
    KaJun

Make sure your environment configuration is supported here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fusion_certification.html
Then, you need to have the correct 64bit JDK installed. Sounds like you have done that.
Then download and run the generic platform installer as described here with your 64bit supported JDK:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e14142/start.htm#i1077535
Notice how the link you post has the generic installer for all the 64bit JVM rows, but the other installer for the 32bit JVMs on the 64bit OS?

  • Configuring weblogic server to start automatically

Hi, I have installed oracle weblogic server 11g, jdk/jre 7 and forms & reports 11g. i have successfully installed all softwares. I configured forms and reports domain and weblogic domain. I would like to have weblogic start automatically when i login in to comp/server. Right now i have to click on the start admin server for weblogic server domain button in domain folder and the stop admin server button. I also have to type in the username and password into the cmd promt when i click the start and stop admin server buttons.
How can i have the forms and reporst weblogic server start automatically?
how can i get past not having to enter in username and password each time it starts up and stops? (this is entering the username and password before you get to the weblogic console login screen)

i configured it as a windows service. i followed the instructions from the link you provided and when i finished i named the file "startweblogic.cmd." I put the file in the "WL_HOME\server\bin" directory which also has the installsvc.cmd file in and ran it as administrator.

Looks like the LUN is not configured correctly on the storage array. The kernel can't take the LUN online.
I have seen this on various boxes, most of the time it was either that the LUN wasn't set online on the SAN box or there is a SCSI reservation on the LUN.
Can you access the LUN from another host?

  • WebLogic in mixed platform (Win/Solaris)

    Hello,
We are using WebLogic 6.1 SP5 on Solaris. Typically, our
configuration looks like this: 1 Admin Server, 3 Managed Servers
functioning as part of a cluster.
We are slowly migrating everything to Windows. My question is till we
are completely on Windows, is it possible for us to run in a mixed
configuration i.e. have the Admin Server running on Solaris and the
Managed Servers on Windows? Or vice-versa i.e. have the Admin Server
running on Windows and the Managed Servers on Solaris?
If anybody has tried this and/or can point me to any information
related to this, that would be great.
Also, what are the things we should be careful about?
Is the WebLogic license for a specific platform i.e. Solaris/Windows
based? Or can we use the same license for both platforms?
    Thanks
    -Puja

    Puja,
    1) You can have weblogic in hetergenous environment. Just make sure that you have
    all configurable paths correctly setup.
    2) Weblogic License is specific to an IP address. Either you use the same IP or
submit a request for License transfer.
    I hope it helps.

    Hi,
Make sure you have given the correct rights for the .bin file to execute, also do have a look at the below link to get more information on how to install a .bin file

I have iPlanet Application server 6.0 SP2 installed on sun solaris 2.7.
Now, I want to install one more instance of iAS (same version) on the same solaris box. Just wondering, is it possible, because i think in case of Sun One Apps Server 7 its not possible.
If its possible, is there any specific configuration I have to make ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Prakash

    Hello,
I think it is possible to have two instances of IAS 6.5 on one machine because last year I had similar situation with IAS 6.5 Enterprise - I instaled it twice and put them in cluster. Things were just fine.
Each creation of instance of app server meant new installation of IAS software in different install folder, where second one used Directory Server installed durring the first installation.
I remember that I had only one Directory Server installation where each IAS instance had its own space for configuration data (by specifying diferent name for "IAS global config params" during the installation) and different set of port numbers for IAS processes. Finnaly, I put these two instances in a cluster...
IAS 7.0 (Sun One App server 7.0) has different approach regarding creating and configuring several app server instances, because creating one more instance of app server doesn't mean another installation of software...
    Regards
    Vladimir

  • WebLogic in mixed environment (Win/Solaris)

    Hello,
We are using WebLogic 6.1 SP5 on Solaris.

  • Duplicate customer environment on our Solaris box

Hi, I am new to here, and I am a dummy on iAS.
We got a tape back up of our customers testing machine. I would like to set up the exact same server on one or our Solaris boxes and run some tests on it.
After having the corporate computing guys loaded the tape to the box. I hacked through some files in
    /mnt/opt/iPlanet/ias65/slapd-nccias/config
    /mnt/opt/iPlanet/ias65/ias/registry
replaced customers host and domain names by our host and domain names on the LAN.
Now I can start the LDAP server. But when I tried to start the iAS, it failed and I got the following in the ias.log:
Connected to LDAP server on xxx-cissun19.abccorp.com port 389
iPlanet Application Server is running in international mode
    iPlanet Administrative Server

Am I doing something that is not possible? Am I on the right track? Is there any documentation that walks people through this process?
You help will be highly appreciated.

  • WebLogic 6.0 performance on Solaris vs NT

Has anybody tried comparing the performance of WebLogic 6.0 sp1 on Solaris (SunOS
5.8) with NT 4.0? Please post your experiences.
    TIA,
    -Anil

The Xprof output is misleading - this does not mean that 50% of
the CPU is spent on polling sockets. It simply means that 50% of the thread samples
were in a polling method (probably waiting, not running).
Yes, I believe that an 800MHz PIII would blow away an ES-250 which runs at less
    that 300MHz. So you have 2CPU -> 600MHz. Then
(800-600)/800 = 25% which is what you get.

We have a problem with SunOs 5.8, multi (2) CPU, 1GB memory Weblogic6.0
    sp1 and
    java 1.3.0.
While running some benchmarks we realized that the tests run much faster(25%-40%
faster) on a NT Pentium III 800 MHz desktop with 256MB RAM than onour Sun
    Ultra-250
    with the above configuration.
So, we decided to do some profiling by turning on hprof(-X:runhprof:cpu=samples,depth=12)
and realized that over 50% of the time is spent in polling the sockets(weblogic.socket.PosixSocketMuxer.poll).
On NT, only 0.23% time is spent on the same activity. I do not knowif on
    NT WebLogic
uses a different IPC model (select vs. interrupt) but the time takenon
    Solaris
doing polls is outrageous. I am wondering if anybody else out therehas
    experienced
the same problem? Any insights you have to share on this will beappreciated.
