Conflicting messages about Itunes software

Ever since I downloaded ITunes 7, when I try to update my IPOD from my PC (Windows), I get a message saying some songs can't be downloaded to the IPOD because my software is old and to check the Summary tab. Yet the Summary tab shows my software is updated! Anyone know how to fix this?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

Conflicting messages about a plugin

When I went to check my plugins, for the QuickTime plugin in the add-ons window, I saw a warning stating that the plugin is out of date and will be disabled. I checked with the Mozilla plugin check page and that says that the plugin is up to date. Which is it? Make up your minds! It is confusing to get opposite messages about one particular item. According to Apple, my whole operating system has all the latest updates.

Error message about iTunes not opening

On one account on my iMac (my admin account), when I try to open iTunes, I get the following message:
The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder.
The other user accounts work fine.
Any suggestions?

YAY!!!! After doing some more research, I found a discussion that answered my question and WORKED!!

Have used 1 computer to sync my iphone 5 but today I get message about itunes erasing everything because I am synced with other library. what's up with that?

My Toshiba Satellite is all I have ever used to sync my iPhone 5. I don't know what is going on today but iTunes seems to think I am "synced" with another computer. I have a couple of hours of voice memos that I would hate to lose but iTunes asks if I want to "erase and sync with this Itunes library". If it weren't for the voice memos I'd do it since all the other data is stored in itunes. What can I do? I've restarted both devices thinking it might help with no luck. Is there a way to remove the memos without itunes. The smallest memo is about 45 min long on up to 2 hrs +.

I receive a random message about a software update and the update failed.

The message specifically says: "Something is trying to trick Firefox into accepting an insecure update. Please contact your network provider and seek help." I am not sure what this is about. Any help would be appreciated. thank you. I believe that is all the details.

This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove the file(s) that cause the problem.

Conflicting messages about firewalls in Azureus

I haven't had any trouble downloading or seeding bittorrents using Azureus with OS 10.3.9. However, in trying to upload something for the first time, I keep getting a message saying the file is "firewalled." System preferences says all my sharing services are on and my firewall is off, including to the new port I added for bittorrents, per the Azureus instructions. Any clues about what's going on?

I've had almost the identical problem, with what sounds like an identical setup. I have not problem with downloads, but I frequently get that "firewalled" symbol, even while seeding is taking place. Deep in the bowls of the Azureus Wiki, there's a line that says that symbol can sometimes only mean nobody has tried to establish a remote connection since the start of your latest session, which I think is what has been going on with me--if nobody is trying to catch the files I'm pitching, so to speak, the green "OK" light essentially times out and is replaced with the red "firewalled" light. Try running the NAT/Firewall test. If that says your port is okay, then everything is working and you can ignore the "firewalled" symbol. I've also heard that running that test can kind of jump-start Azureus into clearing the port, but I'm not sure about that. At any rate, it won't do any harm.

When I called the support at AT&T they think the phone is shot and it is a hardware thing but i have a hard time believing that when it happened when I sync'd it to my computer. It did get progressively worse though, at first it crashed not that often and then got worse. So restores are failing, recovery, everything. Anyone run into this?

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

Itunes was working fine. Tries to install latest upgrade and get error message about an invalid character in the path "Program Files (x86)". PC, Win7, nothing else appears to be having same issue.

I tried this solution without success. After FixIt ran and didn't find a problem, either in looking for issues with "software upgrade" or "iTunes" it kindly offered to help me uninstall iTunes. I had thought of this as a possibilty but it seems to me that if you do that you lose a lot of "non-native-to-Apple" information you might have entered. I did this once and recovery was painfull. Is there a way to uninstall iTunes without losing all of that sort of thing? Any help would be appreciated.

Do I have to reconfigure something in Itunes to point to the correct address?

What version of iTunes are you using? The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

When I plug in my new iphone4 itunes tells me to download the latest itunes software, so i downloaded itunes 10.2.2 but i still get the same message? i have the feeling that itunes never downloaded?

I got a new iphone4 today, inserted the new sim card, and plugged it into my macbook
It then popped up with a message along the lines of 'you need the intunes 10.1 or newer to run this iphone4' so i downloaded the latest version of itunes (10.2.2) and tried to re plug in my iphone4, only to get the excact same error message!?
I clicked on the Itunes >> About Itunes tab in my itunes top drop down options bar (across the top of the screen) and it says Im still on itunes 10.01? Am I downloading the software wrong?

By run the installer do you mean go through the stages such as agreeing to the terms and conditions, and deciding where to save the new program (in Macintosh HD) as I did all of that as well?

Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
START > CONTROL PANEL > Programs n Features / highlight ASU and click CHANGE then REPAIR,
