Confusion on "this"
// AS2 code
this.firstChild.childNodes;
What does "this" object mean and what would be conversion on AS3 .
"this" is the reference to the current class instance.
e.g.:
class A
public function callMe()
trace("this is the current instance of A" + this);
Now suppose I write a snippet of code like below,
var temp1 = new A();
var temp2 = new A();
temp1.callMe(); //"this" in callMe method here will refer to "temp1" object.
temp2.callMe(); //"this" in callMe method will now refer to "temp2" object.
//Inshort the "this" variable refers to the current object which is getting executed.
Coming back to your point "this.firstChild.childNodes", here this is refering to the class where the code is written.
I guess you are extending XML class to customize the functionality their.
Hope I am not too complicated.... Tell me if that helped....

on syncing photos to my iphone from my mac (snow leopard) (iphoto), just 2 or 3 per event retain the edited verisons, the rest are shown in the original version. I'm confused by this. Is this a bug? Is there a way to see all the photos on the mac-edited version on iphn?
Thanks for your reply
I solved my problem,
Definitely a bug in syncing through itunes.
- Connect Iphone with MacBook Pro through USB
- Go to iphone on itunes, photos, deselect photo synchronization.
- Sync (all pics will be removed from iphone)
- Close itunes, iphoto, disconnect iphone
- Select in finder: (home)-pictures-iphoto library.
- Sec click on iphoto library and choose "show package contents"
- Delete iPod Photo Cache
- Close finder
- Empty trash
- Reconnect iphone
- Allow photo synchronization again and everything works smooth.
After this, changes made in iphoto are instantaneously reflected in iphone photos.
Once every hundred photos, one gets detached from iphoto and then changes are no longer reflected (buggy) :-(
In this case I erase the photo in iphoto, sync, go back to iphoto trash, reestablish the photo from the trash and sync again.
Hope this improves. Still have to try cloud though.
Thanks

I uploaded the upgrade to Photoshop Elements 12 today. I got a "dispatching error" for Photoshop Elements, but was able to download Premier elements! I did not order Premier Elements, so I'm confused (unless this was a package that I did not know about). I really want the Photoshop Elements upgrade - not Premier Elements. I do hope I did not pay for both - I only want one. Help!
Maryrhire910 I am sorry that you are facing difficulty downloading and installing Photoshop Elements 12. Are you downloading the installation files from Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10? If so what specific error are you receiving?

If I download a video from my video camera to a new (current 1/12) iMac 21 inch, how can I burn it to a DVD using the computer itself. Is this possible? Do I need to buy additional software. Two salespeople at the Apple were a little confused about this. Thank you.
The DVD recorder I'm referring to is one I've use for years. It is not attached to my aging iMac in any way. I simply play the video from my camcorder (mini-dv tape based Canon HV20) into the DVD recorder and create a DVD that can be played in any DVD player. I can only do minimum editing so what goes in is what I get. This has been fine for creating dupes of the various things I shoot.
If I buy a new iMac (21 inch), I'd like to be able to download the video to the iMac through iMovie, work with it to whatever degree I wish, and burn it to a DVD that can also be played in any DVD player -- or to use as a master to dupe copies.
What I'm understanding from you and others is that this would be possible if Apple had included iDVD in the software that comes with the iMac, or if I purchase the iLife Family Pack, or buy the correct version of Toast. I'm hoping I can persuade Apple to sell me an iMac with iDVD installed.
Essentially I want to move from a basic process of creating DVD copies to the more sophisticated process of creating one from an iMac.
Thank you again for your help and wisdom. -
I'm still confuse with this iCloud mail. I have 2 device which is iPhone and iPad, why every time I receive a mail from my iPhone it doesn't show on my iPad? Can you maybe help me out here thank you
The iphone and ipad must be connected to the same icloud account. Are you by chance using different IDs to connect from each device?

Junk mail confusion - is this spam?
I have long been confused by certain behaviour of Mac Mail.
When Mail identifies spam (on my Mac, at least), it marks it by changing the text colour in the preview pane brown and moves it to the Junk folder, as per my preferences.
However, I get some mail which does not qualify as Junk Mail or Spam as, according to the rules, it is from a previous recipient but Mail leaves it in the Inbox (or moves it, depending on my custom rules) and marks it by making the background of the preview pane brown but the text is still black.
If I click on this mail and mark it as spam, it then moves to the Junk folder. If I then click on it and mark it as not spam, it changes to the normal black text on white background in the preview pane - so there is something which makes me think that this is related to Junk/Spam. I have messed around with flags but they do not seem to have anything to do with this.
I really don't have a clue why this happens and have searched for years to find out without any success.
Any ideas?In addition to Corky's suggestion on the right hand side of your profile page is this box:

Hi, i'm new here.. and totaly confused about this product!
I'm attempting to expand my knowlege and skill base by learning both Flash Professional and Flash Builder...
Primarily for the purpose of portability and cross-platform compatibility in my application solutions. I'm not a long-lived hard core programmer, I mainly work in design/art and know my basics for C and C# development.
However, most of the training I've had so far related to Flash and/or Builder APARENTLY uses a subversion of 4 (4.6?).. and well, since I only have access to this Cloud.. Flash Builder is version 4.7, yet has NO VISUAL DEVELOPMENT TOOLS?!?
what. the. double-hocky-sticks is going on?
How should I be looking at these products to create a comprehensive workflow for my projects? Do I create only the UX/UI in Flash Professional with a minimal amount of actionscript.. and utilize something like Flash Builder for creating my libraries and backend stuff?
I am seriously confused here. It didn't look like to me that Flash Professional was very MXML friendly... if at all.
Is Adobe going to embrace a new frontend solution like XAML or HTML5... I am completely aghast by this.I'm attempting to expand my knowlege and skill base by learning both Flash Professional and Flash Builder...
Primarily for the purpose of portability and cross-platform compatibility in my application solutions.
In terms of browser compatibility, the flash runtime is not available on IOS devices and support on Mobile browsers has been withdrawn by Adobe. The flash platform can generate applications for mobile devices and standalone applications for the desktop using Adobe Air and 'projectors'.
Flash professional doesn't do MXML at all.
The Design View was controvercially removed from Flash Builder with the release of FB 4.7. Many people relied upon it, others built their interfaces by writing MXML.
Adobe is no longer developing the Flex SDK and has donated the Flex SDK to Apache as an Open Source project. Flex does not figure in future Adobe development that I can see.
Adobe is embracing HTML5. -
Confused with this ASA - VPN config issue
Hello. Can anyone help me here? I am new to the ASA config and commands. Everything works well, enough, on this ASA except the VPN. A client can connect but cannot access anything inside or outside. Here is the config. Can someone please take a look and tell me why VPN is not working? I don't want to set up split-tunneling, I would prefer everything to go through the firewall. Also, if you see something else wrong (or have a better implementation) then please let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff.I tried those commands but this started getting messy and so I looked at the current config and it was not the same as what I originally posted. Looks like some changes were implemented but not saved so the config that I posted what slightly different. Thank you for all your suggestions. Here is the new config, confirmed as the current running and saved config. Same situation as before though. I can connect using the Cisco VPN client but can only ping myself and can't get out to the Internet or access anything internal. If someone can take a look it would be greatly appreciated. The main difference is the VPN pool has been set as a subset of the 10.30.133.0 network instead of using a separate subnet (VPN pool is 10.30.133.200 - 10.30.133.230).

Confused about this error.
I'm new to Java, and I'm trying to do some work with the Graphics2d library. But whenever I try to run any sample code (like below), I get this weird error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: ShapeExample
Exception in thread "main"
What's up? It seems that the code below is fine. I'm using J2SE 1.4.1 with Eclipse.
import javax.swing.*; // For JPanel, etc.
import java.awt.*; // For Graphics, etc.
import java.awt.geom.*; // For Ellipse2D, etc.
/** An example of drawing/filling shapes with Java2D in Java 1.2.
* From tutorial on learning Java2D at
* http://www.apl.jhu.edu/~hall/java/Java2D-Tutorial.html
* 1998 Marty Hall, http://www.apl.jhu.edu/~hall/java/
public class ShapeExample extends JPanel {
private Ellipse2D.Double circle =
new Ellipse2D.Double(10, 10, 350, 350);
private Rectangle2D.Double square =
new Rectangle2D.Double(10, 10, 350, 350);
public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
clear(g);
Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D)g;
g2d.fill(circle);
g2d.draw(square);
// super.paintComponent clears offscreen pixmap,
// since we're using double buffering by default.
protected void clear(Graphics g) {
super.paintComponent(g);
protected Ellipse2D.Double getCircle() {
return(circle);
public static void main(String[] args) {
WindowUtilities.openInJFrame(new ShapeExample(), 380, 400);
}I am running it now without an IDE, can you guys
explain the problem a bit more explicitly? I mean, I
thought the class that is giving the trouble is the
ShapeExample class, which is in the file.
Do you mean to say that I have to put that part of
the file with this class in a seperate file (say
shapeexample.class) and then use a .java file to call
the class to run it?
Sorry, I'm pretty new at this.You write code that humans can understand and put it into .java files.
Then, you call javac, or click your IDE's "Compile" or "Build" button to compile the .java source files into .class files that the VM can understand.
Then you call java -cp some;class;path MyClass, or click your IDE's Run button, to invoke the VM and tell it to run the main method in the MyClass.class file, and that it can find MyClass.class and all the other .class files that it needs in some or class or path (where "some" and "class" and "path" are just dummy placeholder example type thingies)
You should go through a tutorial from the beginning. All these questions will be addressed.
See Resources for beginners at http://www.thejword.com/3.html#beginner_resources -
I'm a bit confused about this 32 bit and 64 bit stuff
Martin Evening's book says "If your computer hardware is 64 bit enabled and you are running a 64 bit operating system, you can run Lightroom as a 64 bit program."
Well I'm currently running XP 64 Bit with 4 GB of RAM inside. How do I run Lightroom in 64 bit mode?
He says Windows 7 users and Windows Vista users will want to buy the 64 bit version of Lightroom. I don't see any 64 bit versions of Lightroom. And for those of us on XP?Road Worn wrote:
I bought the disc. I explored the disc and I did find the Setup32 and Setup64 on there so I will assume the installer installed the correct version for me.
You can check in task manager, whether LR is running in 32 or 64-bit mode for you. AFAIK, the 32 bit processes should be marked *32 in WinXP also.
What version of LR are you running? Since you installed from CD, you might have LR3.0 installed. In this case I would strongly suggest you download Version 3.4 from here and install it. There have been many bug fixes from 3.0 to 3.4.

How do I update my iPhoto? When I get a message saying have an update it also says that I must go to where I purchased it. I got my Mac at the Mac store in Novi and the program was part of the programs installed on the computer at the time of purchase.

I have 3 tables
1. Interdata
INTERDATAID
SESSIONID
CLIENTIP
BROWSERTYPE
USERID
LOGINDATE
CREATEDDATE
SOURCEURL
DESTINATIONURL
DIFFERENCE
2. Filter-
FILTERID
SESSIONID
CLIENTIP
BROWSERTYPE
USERID
LOGINDATE
CREATEDDATE
3. Filterdetail-
FILTERDETAILID
FILTERID
SOURCEURL
DESTINATIONURL
CREATEDDATE
First I insert the records in interdata table through sqlldr.
Now I want to insert the records in filter and Filterdetail tables from interdata table.
But condition is that if sessionid already present in the filter table then do not insert the records in filter table.
And into Filterdetail table we have to take filterid from Filter table and insert the records
From Filterdetail table.
Please tell me the solution .
I am trying this from last two days.
Please help me.
Thanks and Regards,
Prathamesh.Alternately
BEGIN
FOR i IN ( SELECT sessionid FROM interdata

SELECT sessionid FROM filter )
LOOP
INSERT INTO filter
SELECT filter_id_seq.NEXTVAL

/You should bench mark the two approaches to see which is more efficient. Bear in mind that the profile might change as the table sizes increase.

10.10.3 supplemental update confused About this Mac
After the supplemental update my mac book pro has incorrect information in About This Mac. The storage tab shows that I have 223.86GB free of 249.77GB. That is correct. The graphic shows the entire disk consumed by Backup(140.74TB yes TB). This is obviously incorrect. IStat menu also has incorrect disk usage information as well and is reporting 140.96TB free.
I have 10.7.3
I am wanting to find out if I have the Mac OS X 10.7.3 Supplemental Update installed ?
Because I am unable to see it in the Installed Software section of Software Update.
I am also unable to install the Mac OS X 10.7.3Supp.dmg file.
I click on the file and it opens a dialog box saying it is Verifying.
It then opens up a window in the background.
The window contains this icon:
When I Double Click the the icon, it comes up with the dialog window to install the update.
When I get to the step where I select where I want the file to be installed, this domes up:
What does this mean ?
Do I already have the Update installed ?
How do I install the Update ? -

Its output is 0, can someone pls give a detailed explanation.
Thanx in advance.I used the double quotes to indicate a literal value,
isn't that the usual way to express that in ordinary writing?

I'm confused by this new forum layout...
before the forum layout changed i could search within the photoshop forum for all the questions i had. now everytime i want to do a search i have to continually choose from that dropdown menu from the list of all the forums. the space to find the application you are looking for is tiny so its hard to find photoshop amongst all the others. is there a way of staying within the photoshop forum for multiple searches? i can't understand why they would change this basic function. chances are if you are in photoshop forum you want to search for issues in photoshop forum. am i missing a "search within photoshop forum" link somewhere??
I guess you missed the memo that this is an improvement.
