Connect D-Link 2750B wirelessly to DirecTV cinema kit

I am a new Verizon HSI customer (FIOS not available yet), packaged with DirecTV. I am trying to create the wireless connection between the D-Link 2750B and DirecTV cinema. Laptops, tablets, cell phones all connected to the DLink with no problems.
I am getting a password validation error when trying to connect the DirecTV cinema to the D-Link. **NOTE**  My SSID and my password DO NOT contain any special characters or spaces. That is not the problem.  I have spent time with customer support from Verizon and DirecTV with no solution so far. And again, laptops, tablets, phones and printers all connect wirelessly fine.
I am using method 2 set up for a whole house DVR. I have seen where other people have had the same issue with communication between the two, but no solution. Can someone please help?

I have been trying for the past 3 Saturdays.  Even had a new router sent from Verizon.  Have been back and forth between  Verizon and DirecTV without any solution.  DirecTV said there IS an internet connection that the problem is in the router.  Has anyone found the solution?  Am ready to switch back to another service.

  • New D-Link router won't connect to DirecTV cinema kit

Just got & installed a new D-link DSL 2750B yesterday. I set it up with my existing SSID & WPA passcode -- all my devices work perfectly, EXCEPT my DirecTV cinema kit which is a wireless receiver. IT was fine until the new setup. I spent ( so far ) over 5 hours trying to set this up. The DirecTV techs ( 2 ) I spoke with don't have a clue. I reset everything multiple times to no avail.  The DirecTV forums list several resetting steps, all of which i tried. Nothing. If anyone has any clue as to what i can try, I'd certainly appreciate the help. The router didn't come with any manual and I'm not too comfortable changing any settings other than the security mode ( WPA, etc ) without some guidance. Thanks in advance.

Bottom Line: If you have a Dlink DSL2750b from Verizon and are trying to install DirectTV cinema connection STOP RIGHT NOW and save youself the five hours I just spent learning that the two are simply incompatible.
For some reason no one at DirecTV knew this and put me though endless paces to no avail, including a change to my router password that now means I have to reconnect all of my devices.
Once I learned in DirectTV forums that this Dlink modem router is incompatible with DirectTV I called Verizon and the tech agent said, "Oh yes that one is incompatible with DirecTV." And he cheerfully ordered a free replacement, the Actiontec GT784WNV, which I haven't gotten yet but was promised it will be fine.
    Two Questions:
    1) For DirecTV, why in the world isn't this a known issue for your tech team so that they don't have to belabor consumers with hours of troubleshooting that does no good.
    2) Most importantly, for Verizon, why in the world do you even send out a modem that isn't compatible with the growing use of internet connection equipment for TVs? Or at least tell us before we order them.

You need the Airport card OR Airport Express but not both.  Considering the age of your machine, I recommend Airport Express as you will find other uses for it whenever you replace the eMac.
To set up the AE, you do need OSX 10.4 or higher.

  • When I connect to the hotel wireless, it takes 2 or 3 minutes to be redirected to the login page

    Hi all,
I have a problem with my Firefox 4 beta: when I connect to the hotel wireless, and I start the browser, I should be automatically redirected to the hotel's main login page.
In FF4b I get 2 error messages (attached) and I am not redirected immediately... it takes 2 or 3 minutes to be redirected.
If I don't want to wait I have to start IE, make the login, and then get back to FF4b.
I believe this situation is connected with the "Test Pilot" and/or the "sync" function of FF...
Any ideas about what I should do? Any setting I should change?
    Thanks,

  • How can I connect more than one wireless speaker to my ipad

i have a mini iPad and have linked two wireless Bluetooth speakers but they will only work one at a time. How can I get them both to work together ?

Yes and it's very easy to do once you know what to do.
Place all of the photo albums that you want to transfer to the iPad into one main photos album on your PC. When your iPad is connected to your computer's iTunes and after you have selected the iPad under Devices, click on the Photos tab and in the Sync Photos from heading - select that main photos album that you place all of your other photos folders into - select each album that you want to sync - and then click on Apply in the lower right corner to sync the photos to the iPad.

  • Brand new ipod/itouch 4th generation won't connect to available hm wireless

I have a new 4th generation ipod touch. I also have a new computer using windows 7. I have set up the computer and wireless is working great. I have set up and synched the ipod to itunes without problems however, I cannot connect to my home wireless network. I have done the network reset. There is no option to "forget this network" that comes up when I click the arrow. I cannot access the support document that you provide in other links because it says it is "damaged". I have my wireless network password protected but my itouch will not accept the password. I know the password I am entering is correct because I used it to join my new computer to wireless and that worked fine. I have tried about 20 times to enter the password so I know that it is correct and it will not join. Please help.

I've looked at those documents...that's how I knew to try all of those other fixes.
It is a linksys. That should not be an issue...as I said, it works fine with my brand new Asus Windows 7 computer.
    A few things:
If you have read the Apple documents why did you say, "I cannot access the support document that you provide in other links because it says it is 'damaged'."? Also, who is you ?
Testing the iPod Touch WiFi on another network will give you a baseline as to whether the WiFi in your iPod Touch is working at all. If it doesn't work on other networks then it may need service/replacement.
What model Linksys router do you have? What kind of security are you using WEP, WPA, WPA2? How is it configured? (see my previous post for what's relevant). Is it 802.11g?, 802.11n? Do you have the latest router firmware?
Note also that just because one device seems to work OK on a WiFi network doesn't prove that the network is golden. Not all devices use the same features of the Wireless 802.11g/n protocols. Low-power devices are different than desktop computers.
Have you tried testing with security turned off? (This check is suggested in the Apple documents).

  • Can't connect AE to existing wireless network

I can't get my AE to connect to my existing wireless network. I saw the other thread on this and followed those steps, but it didn't work. Here's what I did:
    1. Connected the AE to my D-Link DIR-655 wireless router via ethernet cable.
    2. Opened Airport Utility and established a connection to the AE.
    3. Renamed the AE and entered a password.
    4. In the "wireless" tab, I selected "join existing network", chose my wireless network, selected the security type (WPA Personal) and entered the password.
    5. In the "music" tab, I named the speakers and entered a password.
So far so good. I clicked "update" and the AE restarted. After a while I received an error message informing me that the base station could no longer be detected. According to the directions posted in the other thread, this is actually supposed to be a sign that the AE is now in client mode and all is well.
I unplugged the ethernet cable from the AE and router and then went to the other room. I plugged the AE into the speakers and then plugged the AE into the wall.
However, instead of a green light all I have is a flashing amber light, even after several minutes. No connection.
I reset the AE and repeated the steps above, to no avail. Still a flashing amber light.
    Any ideas?

I'm having a similar issue. My AE is connected directly to a Netgear WGR614v4 router, and I run through all the steps you mentioned. When I choose to update the settings to the AE, I get the same "error" you mentioned about the AE not being found, and I also took that as a sign that I'm in client mode. I moved the AE to the other room, connected my mini cable to the stereo, then plugged the AE back into the wall. The AE runs through its setup and eventually gets a solid green light, so I'm thinking all is well.
The problem is that I then log back into the AirPort Utility on my laptop and the AE is not shown in the top left like it should be. After doing a bit of reading, I've figured out that I can manually find it by going to File>Configure Other and entering the AE's IP address and password. Then I get a window showing the details of the AE, its name, network, encryption, etc. However, if I close this window, it still doesn't show up in the main AirPort Utility screen and I'm not sure how to configure it for AirTunes.
Hoping that's just a bug with the AirPort Utility software, I open up iTunes to see if I can locate it there. I know I should see a pulldown menu at the bottom of iTunes that gives me an option for AE as my audio output method, but the menu is not there. Now I'm completely stuck.
At this point I decide to start from scratch, so I do a Factory Default reset by pressing down the reset button on the AE as I plug it into the wall. Now it is supposedly reset, so I plug it back into my router, then it runs through a setup sequence and lights up solid green before I've even done anything. It shows up in AirPort Utility with a default base station ID, but my computer won't connect to it at all. I'm hoping I can try to reset it again this evening and at least get back to the normal setup screen, but I'm really not sure what I could do differently at this point.
This is frustrating and I'm on the verge of giving up, but I REALLY want this to work out.

  • WEP encryption failure on D-Link 614+ wireless router after 1.1.1 update

My iPhone was connecting to the Internet via WiFi with a D-Link 614+ wireless router, and with 128-bit WEP encryption on, before I updated the iPhone to 1.1.1. Since that update, connectivity through the D-Link router requires that WEP be disabled. All other features seem to be compatible, including a static IP address and a static DNS address. No amount of network resetting and WiFi network forgetting helps. Apple Technical Support said that 128-bit WEP has been found mostly compatible, but it tends to be incompatible when the router's firmware has not been recently updated. This router's latest firmware is from 2005 (though the manufacturer dates it 2006), and the manufacturer has issued an end-of-life notice on it. My conclusion is that the router is obsolete if an iPhone is to be used with it. I have ordered an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station, so if anything goes wrong there's no doubt about which company is responsible. Meanwhile, I have turned off router encryption and turned on MAC filtering so only our own devices can use the router. Has anybody found that WEP encryption on this router actually works on the iPhone post-1.1.1?

Shortly after posting, it occurred to me to search for "614". I found some other people's solutions for this router that involved disabling 4x mode and enabling the long preamble in the D-LINK UI (Advanced > Performance):

Doing this caused my packet loss issue to go away, but now my connection is extremely sluggish and browsing is even slower than before.

  • This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of server

This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. I have a MacBook Pro OSX Version 10.6.8. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of servers and trying to reconnect this way. These methods have worked temporarily, but the same problem keeps coming back. Most of the time my personal wireless connection does not even come up among the list of available networks. My fellow flatmates have PCs and both of them are able to connect to the network without problem.
The router is a d-link model DIR-615. I am not tech savy, so if any other information need to be provided in order to better understand my situation, please let me know.
    Please help me!

If I open the list of networks in a window it says "connection timeout," but if I just select it from the drop down it tries for awhile and then stops with no prompt. When I try to run network diagnostics it says "sorry, we can't connect to the internet" (or some solution-free variation of that)

  • D-Link 2750B Modem problems

I spent over an hour on the phone with someone I could barely understand, explaining that I have to reset my D-Link 2750B Modem several times a day. My Internet connection just stops working, and the unit must be powered off and then back on. The Internet connection might work for 4 hours, it might work for 6 hours, maybe only 2. It invariably stops working when I am in the middle of something important. I answered all of her questions, and she ended up telling me that she would escalate the problem, and her supervisor would call me within 1 hour. That was 10 days ago, and I am still waiting. Verizon accomplished their goal of getting rid of me, because there is no way in hell that I am going to spend another hour and a half on the phone working with some clueless person, only to be ignored again.  I will purchase a functional modem from someone other than Verizon, and resolve the problem myself. I just wanted to provide another example of  how absolutely horrible your customer service is. Thanks for nothing.

  • Connecting TC as a Wireless NDAS or Wireless NAS

A week ago, I have purchased the TC in order to connect it as a Wireless NDAS (or NAS) within my home network. I have Windows 7 Ultimate, so I used the AirPort Utility V 7.6.1 to configure it. I am an IT Admin (Windows and Mac), and I will try to summarize it as easy as possible.
Problems I found with my TC:
    First "Surface Temperature"
When placed my hand over the Surface temperature is high. Is that normal?
Second "TC Setup with the Airport Utility"
When connecting the TC to the network (with an Ethernet cable), my home network started to work extremely slow. I Ping(ed) the WiFi Router and found an average response time of 2500 ms. Disconnecting the TC from the Network, response time lowers to 1 ms. At this moment, the TC was not configured yet. Is that normal that the TC broadcasts high traffic when connecting for first time?
Configuring TIP: "After configuring using the AirPort Utility"
In order to create a Wireless NAS, I configured the "Wireless Mode" with the option "Extend a Wireless Network", and in the Internet section, I configured a manual IP Address for the TC. After updating, it is possible to access the TC as a Wired NDAS (or NAS).
After pressing the Update Button, network traffic continues high!!!!
Third: "Disconnecting the Ethernet cable from the TC"
Once I disconnected the cable, Broadcast traffic lowers to 1 ms (pinging Router and TC). Now I have a perfect Wireless NDAS. I can access the drive within the network witn no cables connected to the TC device. The problem comes after a while, when suddenly, the WiFi connection to the TC is lost. Could last 20 minutes connected, or 2 days connected. There is not an exact time on how it keeps the TC connected to the network. Any Idea?
To restore the connection I have to connect an Ethernet cable from the TC to the network, run the AirPort utility, wait about 5 minutes, Rescan the TC, or sometimes I have to connect to the TC, using its IP address, and then, when Rescan gives information about the drive, I can disconnect the Ethernet cable and the drive keeps its WiFi connection for the amount of time I wrote you in previous paragraph .
I´ll appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

Yes, they run pretty hot.. it is much hotter inside of course. It is going to make it live to a shortened lifespan.. Looking at your location.. Panama.. my vision is steaming jungle.. well steaming suburban area.. Take steps now or return the TC as unsuitable.. which it is. You must get some airflow through it. At the very least pull off the rubber mat.. carefully and place the TC on feet.. if you look at the bottom the mat half blocks the inlet air vents.. the outlet is a tortous path gap around the top quarter of the TC. Placing the TC on a netbook cooler would be idea.. don't power it from TC usb though. You will need a bit of fancy work to get the TC up off the surface with a gasket around the outside edge.. you need it sealed so air is force through the TC.. much quieter btw if you go backwards.. ie laptop cooler to suck air through the TC not try to blow air through it.

There are issues particularly with windows.. you will need to do the setup .. ensure everything SMB compliant.. names and workgroup setting. The default wireless names etc.. all can be issues. Firmware should be either latest or if possible to go back to 7.5.2 do so.. it is no advantage to you using latest firmware which is for icloud connection.

You cannot extend wireless from any brand router but an apple. You need to use ethernet and connect to the TC and use it to create a wireless network..
If you use Join a network, it will turn off the ethernet ports.. extend does not.. although that confused me for a long time. painful though as apple will not work with another brand router.
Third: "Disconnecting the Ethernet cable from the TC"

Interesting as now I have no idea how you managed to get the TC into the network.. but I have found you cannot have two connections to the TC at once... ie don't use ethernet and wireless as the transfer speed goes slower than one or the other.. it seems to confuse the computer which is the higher priority connection.
No wireless bridge system.. imho is robust.. if the main router loses connection to the TC for any reason, it usually requires a restart to get things stable again.. but don't worry.. even Mac users with Lion experience this all the time. the TC disappears from their network even though they have internet connection.. a reboot of the TC daily keeps all the network ARP tables happy.

  • TS1398 how do i configure so i phone connects with home wireless automatically? currently, it connects to prior owners wireless since disconnected.

how do i configure wifi so my Iphone connects w home wireless automatically?

    Hi Tesserax
You could, but its benefits may depend on how you have it configured with the D-Link router. That is, do you have the TC directly connected to the D-Link by Ethernet or is it just wirelessly joining the D-Links' wireless network?
I have the TC connected via Ethernet cable.
I am assuming that you have the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) configured as a wireless client so that it can join the D-Link's wireless network for iTunes streaming ... correct? If so, then it would be performing like any other wireless client (desktop, laptop, printer, etc.) and will not interfere with the D-Link's wireless network.
I rechecked the AE and you are correct that the AE is set to join a wireless network.
With having so many devices running on the wireless network, would it make sense to have a few device on each wireless system?(D-Link, TC, and AE)
I know it sounds like overkill, but there is the possibility that all the devices could be running at once. I'm not sure if that would cause any conflicts.
Is there any advantage to turning on the wireless on TC just for the iPhones for example or is it better to keep things as they are?(It works but is it efficient?)
Please be aware I'm not fully knowledgeable with wireless routers and their capabilities.

    This is driving me mad.....
I have a wireless router from my ISP and I can connect to the internet wirelessly with Vista PC, XP PC, iPad and my MacBook Air. I got an airport so I can plug it into a printer and my stereo. When I try to setup the airport to join my existing network it goes off to reset then disapears from the airport utility then is no longer visible when I select my network back to the existing wireless network. I've tried everything and must have et it back to factory default a 100 times. On the last go my wireless network completly stopped working. This should be simple right ?
The router is using WEP, password is correct, etc. Can I not do what I want with this device and I need to connect it to the wireless router with a cable from the airport ethernet ?
Please help before I chuck the airport in the bin......
