Connect Flash to Serial Port with Local Socket Connection

Hey all,
So, I am trying to connect a Flash movie to a serial port
and have it react to the input coming in. Of course, Flash does not
have this capability built in, so I need a workaround. I also
program in Director, and there are easier ways to deal with this
there, but since there hasn't been an update in years, and for
other technical reasons, I would like to use a pure Flash program.
I also need to take advantage of some of the new hardware
acceleration improvements and horizontal sync issues that come with
running the Flash player full screen. So, there are some tools out
there that will let me stream the input from the serial port to a
web address. I figure I could use the local address and assign a
port number, then use Flash to create a local socket connection. I
am having issues opening ports on my computer, and a few other
things, but in theory, I think it should work. I know that I won't
get all the answers here, but if anyone has done anything of the
sort, or might know of some similar projects, it would really help.
I am more of a Director/Flash programmer, and not so much one on
the system level. So, opening local sockets, etc, while I am sure I
can figure it out, is still a bit beyond me. Thanks all!
- Bruce

You may want to look into flash remoting, which would allow
you to push content to the flash movie. You could then write a
proxy between the source of your stream and flash the remoting
server.

  • Windows Kernel Debbuging: Debug over virtual serial port with WDK 8.1

    I'm currently having some issues doing kernel debugging of a Windows 7 x64 target from my Windows 8.1 x64 host machine. I'm running Visual Studio 2013 with WDK 8.1 on my host and have provisioned my target machine running in VMWare.
    Here are my configurations for the target machine. It was configured by reading mostly from here - http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/545835/Kernel-Mode-Debugging-in-a-VM-using-Visual-Studio :
        Windows 7 x64
        Serial port COM2 with VMWare with name \\.\pipe\com2. All proper options in VMWare are checked
        Debug flag for OS enabled through msconfig. Debug port is COM2 running at 115200 baud.
        I ran the test target client "WDK Test Target Setup x64-x64_en-us.exe" on the machine before provisioning the computer
    I was able to provision the computer properly -- it created the WDK Remove User account. However, I'm running into some issues actually debugging. Below are the steps
        Launch the Windows 7 x64 target image in VMWare and wait on the boot menu
        In Visual Studio (host machine), go to Debug -> Attach to process -> Select my computer -> Select process "Kernel" -> Attach
        In VMWare, press enter to boot Windows
        It takes a while, but on my host machine, Visual Studio eventually connects. I can choose to "Break All" and actually use the debugger.
    However, I can't seem to connect to the debugger if I don't do it before booting the kernel. And I can only attach once. For example, I can't let Windows initialize to the desktop and then build my driver and begin debugging. The debugger will always hang on
    "Waiting to reconnect...". The same goes for if I begin debugging on kernel initialization, decide to stop debugging, then try to reconnect or reattach; it will hang on "Waiting to reconnect..." indefinitely as well.

    You are using user mode debug setup menus, that won't work.

  • Can query serial port with NI MAX, but doesn't work in Labview

    I'm trying to control a Coherent Sapphire 488 with labview. It's connected via a serial to USB converter into the computer. I can communicate with a device using NI MAX, but when I try to run the vi (attached), it works for several queries, but evetually returns a null character, after which I can no longer communicate with the port. If I then go into the NI MAX interface, every time I try to read it gives the "VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed" error message.There are also several queriess from the instrument's manual that don't seem to work at all (with or without MAX) and always return a null character. Any help is appreciated. I'm certainly a novice with device communication. Thanks.

    Generally issue with termination character.
     And you are sending     \  and  r   and not CarriageReturn.

  • Unable to establish serial connection between 2 serial ports of same laptop

    I am trying to run "Basic 2 port serial write and read.vi" from the labview example using the 2 different com ports of same laptop. My serial cable is fine. It has passed loopback test. Also I have successfully communicated with the microcontroller(via max232) using the same cable. Still In the given example, I am not recieving character that I have written in the "string to write" window. I have confirmed the com port numbers. The cable I am using is simple 3 wire tx-rx and ground cable. I have also tried to connect two ports on two different pc's that also doesnt work. What may be the problem? I can't see any.

    Are you changing the data being sent?  As currently configured, you need to make sure the \n stays at the end of the data.  To avoid this, turn the termination character off (input on the top of the Configure Serial Port, wire a FALSE constant to it).

  • How do you connect Flash Builder to a NON-LOCAL PHP Server?

    Is it possible to connect Flash Builder 4 to a non-local PHP Server?  In my case, I want to connect to a PHP server on my web-host (similar to GoDaddy).
    This seems like a really stupid question, but every single tutorial or forum post I've Googled in the past 2 hours talk about how easy this is but all of them use "...localhost..." in the Root URL and I can't find anywhere in Flash Builder to enter FTP style credientals!
    I do not want to turn my PC into a PHP/SQL/IIS server.  I want to be able to do all of my work remotely as I do with Dreamweaver.
    I've been trying to do this one simple thing for the better part of 2 days and can't believe how under-documented this feature is.
    Please please please help!
    Thanks

    Upload your services to a directory on your host, upload your remoting app (Zend AMF etc) and configure it, then change the end point in your code to the gateway.php on your server:
    yourService.endpoint = "http://www.yoururl.com/pathway-to-your/gateway.php";
    For instance, one of mine are:
    protected function updateButton_Click(event:MouseEvent):void
                    // TODO Auto-generated method stub
                    support_Requests.ticket_id = supportGrid.selectedItem.ticket_id;
                    support_Requests.hub = supportGrid.selectedItem.hub;
                    support_Requests.username = supportGrid.selectedItem.username;
                    support_Requests.contactNumber = supportGrid.selectedItem.contactNumber;
                    support_Requests.email = supportGrid.selectedItem.email;
                    support_Requests.request = supportGrid.selectedItem.request;
                    support_Requests.status = statusButtons.selectedValue.toString();
                    support_Requests.note = noteUpdate.text;
                    supportRequestsService.endpoint = "http://www.not-telling-you-my-url/app-resources/gateway.php";
                    updateSupport_RequestsResult.token = supportRequestsService.updateSupport_Requests(support_Requests);

  • How to communicate two PC's with the serial port with Netbeans

    Do you know how to do it?
    Do you know how to communicate with the parallel port too?
    Could you give some ideas?
    What commands or instructions I have to use?

    What does NetBeans have to do with it?
    All these "people" today that start out in Java using all these "nifty" IDE's. All it does is produce exactly this. They think their IDE is Java. Once they no longer have their one specific IDE in front of them, they can no longer function. They have no idea what the classpath, what the compiler actually does, how to package a jarfile, hell, most of the time, they don't even know how to execute a simple application.
    As far as your question. Did you even try to Google for some Serial port API package? Assuming you did, did you download it and read the documentation that comes with it? Did you search for a few examples on the web? Did you read them? Did you try them? I can almost guarantee that the answer to everyone of those questions is "no". So, my question for you is, "Why should we help you?" You obviously have no desire to help yourself, so I think we should reciprocate in kind. Don't you?

  • Communication cldc serial port with problems?

    I have a problem using CLDC serial communications:
    I need a connection using Stopbit 2, databits 7, parity even and baudrate 4800.
    I use the line code:
    serialport.open("0;baudrate=4800;bitsperchar=7;stopbits=2;parity=even",1,true);
    or the sintax :
    soc_ = (StreamConnection)Connector.open("comm:0;baudrate=4800;bitsperchar=7;stopbits=2;parity=even");
    but the data arrive in palm of strange way. I send the bit 67 and receive in palm the bits 4, 12, 20 for example.
    helpme
    thank you

    [superfudido],
    The MIDP for Palm OS implementation currently does not
    support the comm protocol. Although CLDC supports the
    use of the serial comm protocol, what type of
    connections is determined by the profile, in the case
    of the Palm device, currently the only available
    profile is MIDP for Palm. The MIDP specification
    states that all MIDP compliant implementations must
    provide HTTP connections, all other connection types
    are optional.
    See this URL for the frequently asked questions for

  • Srp521w voip ports with no wan connected

    Hello.
    I need some help. I am trying to connect my voice ports to my SIP server but is not working.
    I have a lot of this same srp521 working all arround perfectly, except that they are connected to mpls via Wan.
    In this new workaround, i want the router to act as a AP and to have those 2 voip ports working with the router connected just to the lan of my network, no wan connection, but it seems to be a problem on this that.
    Is it possible to have the voip ports working on just with a lan connection?
    Thanks, best regards.

    Hi EveryoneI
    created an etherchannel on two ports (2960 switch) and placed them into
    an etherchannel.  Did the same on the other switch Cisco 3020 blade
    chassis switch.  Without connecting any cables the 2960 had done an
    up/down sequence as though a cable had been connected and yet this had
    not been done.  Can someone try and help with what could be the
    technical explanation of this interesting phenomena.  the etherchannel
    was a trunk and the ports were sitting in vlan 200 and this vlan was
    also configured as the native vlan for the trunk.Please,  please help - any comment is appreciated.Sydney
    Hi Sydney,
    It can be possible that speed and duplex setting between the switches are not in sync. Configure all interfaces in an EtherChannel to operate at the same speeds and duplex modes.Enable all interfaces in an EtherChannel. If you shut down an interface in an EtherChannel, it is treated as a link failure, and its traffic is transferred to one of the remaining interfaces in the EtherChannel.
    For EtherChannels:
    –Assign all interfaces in the EtherChannel to the same VLAN, or configure them as trunks.
    –If you configure an EtherChannel from trunk interfaces, verify that the trunking mode (802.1Q) is the same on all the trunks. Inconsistent trunk modes on EtherChannel interfaces can have unexpected results.
    –An EtherChannel supports the same allowed range of VLANs on all the interfaces in a trunking Layer 2
    Hope to help

  • ASR9000 100G-SR with ONS-15454 100G-LC-C - problem with local SR connection

    Hi
    I need help with 100G IPoDWDM with ASR9000 ( DWDM bundle )
    We have simple setup
    ASR9000 -----100G-SR------ONS15454-------DirectFiber with attenuation ( using 1560,20 ) ------- ONS15454-----100G-SR------- ASR9000.
    This is lab setup but in the future with will work as alien lambda (1560,20 ) for customer MUX/DEMUX.
    But now we have just direct fiber patchcords with attenution in the LAB.
    I have problem with 100G-SR optics with MPO cable - links between ASR9000s and ONS15454s never up.
    Loop connection ( just for test ) with MPO cable between  two asr9000 100G interface working well – link is up.(I can ping)
    I can’t make link UP in any way with ONS15454 100G transponder card ( with 100G SR optics ) connected to asr9000 100G port.
    DWDM side optics works well I see TX/RX power and other statistic – all are green.
    I am sending and receving OTN string so this hopefuly working well.
    I provisioned "Provisionable Patchcord" between both ONS15454 chassis and both 100G cards trunk port ( is green in CTC )
    I made Circuit OTHCC between 100G cards 100G Ethernet client port on both side.
    Still I don't see any RX/TX power on 100G side ( on any LANE in SR Optics )
    Please share you experience with running up such configuration ?
    Anybody had problem with 100-SR Optics ?
    Any tricky part in this configuration ?
    FYI
    To rull out the faulty part I have made
    - changed MPO cables
    - changed SR optics in ONS and also CFP in asr9000 ( I have few such boxes )
    - changed 100G cards and also diferrent ports on asr9000
    - changed ONS chasiss and also ONS 100G Transpoder card

    Hi,
    - Try create OCHCC not 100G, try use OTU4 may be it will helpful. And what is the status of ASR 9k port in CTC( I mean in CTC network view and choose Show Router Port Status > rack/slot/module/port.)
    - Are circuit up inside DWDM network? Try to make photonic test in Properties of OCH-Trail. May be you didn't Lanch ANS or problem inside network.
    - Also Try generate traffic! not ping.

  • What is the best method for controlling a data switch of 20x20 ports, with local and remote requests?

    I'm using booleon control boxes for 'source' ports - to be connected to 'customers' ports. Am not sure of choosing between arrays, clusters, case, etc.

    Thanks, however, I simply meant my boolean 'ports' to mean a 'yes/no' control box of a 'data source', which, when selected, would signify a 'source' that could then be connected to a 'customer' port or 'receiving box'. Perhaps instead of port, I should have said input/output box.
    My main question is simply about a data switch matrix of 20 inputs and 20 outputs. Should I attempt to manage the switching of data lines via cases, for loops, sequence, or what! I believe I will need to set up arrays, but controlling the matrix is ???. Thanks.
