Connect iphone to mac

Is there a way to connect my iphone 4 to my MACs for both wireless syncing and using the 3G data?

Wireless syncing, no. Not until iOS 5 is released. iOS 5 will support wireless sync (I believe WiFi only, but you can find out here: www.apple.com/ios/ios5
3G data, yes. It's called Tethering (personal hotspot). Your carrier must support it and you generally have to pay for a tethering plan.

  • Connect iPhone to Mac via Bluetooth

It's taken me a while, but I would like to link my iPhone 5 to my MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. I've paired the devices (supposedly - selecting the Mac in iPhone's Bluetooth list only offers "forget this device" - no settings shown), but when on the Mac I click Bluetooth Browse Devices it shows the iPhone in the list, but then reports "no device found". And if I click "iPhone > connect to network" it reports an error connecting, and "make sure network access is enabled and available on your device."
So where do I enable network access on the iPhone? It's probably very simple, but I've hunted through Settings and can't find anything.
    Thanks!
    Ian

Well, I consider myself a rather advanced user and I gave up on this problem as soon as I encountered it. My iPhone is becoming more and more bothersome. Apple's instructions asking to refer to the phone manual, as if it was unaccessible to them, are a pain as well.
The thing is that Android, with all the variety of phones it handles, got this straight time ago. As a number of other things in which Apple is lagging behind more and more -among the important ones, conection to a folder structure, not to apps' folders.
I don't care about Apple's marketing strategies. The only thing that made me get an iPhone was to use apps (none of them made by Apple, by the way) in connection to my Mac. Now I am ready to move back to Android as soon as a few of those apps make Android versions. And I may as well even if not. I know both systems and, in my opinion, not only the OS but some terminals have been better than Apple's for a while.
The only thing that hooks me to Apple for the time being is OS X, but to be happy with the price of its hardware I want spotless performance. Not public performances of their top executives nor economic performance of their stocks in the stockmarket, but spotless performance of my tools, in case this is not clear, as it seems not to be!

  • Benefit of connecting iphone to mac

Is anything gained by connecting one's iPhone to their Mac? If so, wireless or wired?
In other words, are there features/apps that benefit when one connects?
I seem to recall there is something about Photo Stream but I'm not finding the instructions.
    Thanks for any tips.
PS My wife has same question for iPad.

I just had a situation where it failed to launch iTunes, iPhoto etc. when I plugged in. The battery would not charge, either. However the battery charged fine from the little power brick.
Well, I tried entering DFU mode to do a restore. The restoration failed, and it is now officially dead, and I'm off to the Apple Store.
Here's the takeaway: prepare yourself for total phone failure. Notably, grab any key data off yur phone, and don't "try to troubleshoot the phone" in any way until you have a window of time where services you need will be available. In other words, mess with it at 9am Monday morning, not 9pm Friday night.

  • Connecting iPhone to Mac auto opens iTunes?

I have an iPhone 3GS running under OS 3.0.1. I have iTunes 9.0. my question is:
Assume iTunes is not open. When I connect my iPhone via USB2 to the Mac, shouldn't iTunes, when the iPhone is plugged in, open automatically?
Previously iTunes opened when I plugged in the iPhone.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Computer Authorization asked everytime I connect iPhone to Mac...?

I only have one computer  "authorized" to sync with my iPhone. But everytime that I do a sync, it always tells me that I need to authorize my Mac with my iPhone. And currently, it says "I have synced 3 computers out of the available 5"... I don't get it. Is there a special preference setting that I need to be doing?

See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In order to sync purchased data from the iPhone to this computer, or visa versa, you need to authorize iTunes.

  • Do I ever need to connect iPhone to Mac

OK, have IOS5 installed, iCloud on, all synching stuff selected. Also remember from the Keynote that one will no longer need to connect new iPhone to iTunes to make it work. So that raises the question, "Do I ever have to connect my iPhone to a computer?" Can I restore my iPhone from a backup in iCloud?

It seems increasingly unlikely that there will be new firmware released for the iPod classic line, but it is always a possibility. In my opinion the major outstanding issue with the older iPods is the treatment of Artist vs. Album Artist which tends to break up albums on older devices when guest/featured artists are involved (see Grouping tracks into albums) however that could be addressed entirely within iTunes if Apple choose to do so.

  • My iphone 4 won't connect to my mac. It says that I need to install the lastest version of itune (11.1) but when I try to update itunes it says that I have the current version 10.6.3. Can someone please help!

    Hi,
My iphone 4 won't connect to my mac book, it says that I need to install to latest version of itunes 11.1. When I go to itunes and try to update, it says that I have the latest version (10.6.3). Can someone please help me!
    thanks

You are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac.  No version of  iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs.  I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher.  The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac.  I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.

"I have an Iphone 4s and i can't make a connection to my mac and other devices via bluetooth! ":
    That is correct.
"Why is this a problem and how can i repair it?"
Becasue this has never been a feature of iphone/ipod/ipad.  There is nothing to repair.

  • HT1491 On both my iPhone & My iPad I keep getting the same message.  Cannot connect to iTunes Store.  I can connect on my Mac.  Until the other day I have always been able to connect on both iPad & iPhone.

All of a sudden I keep getting the same message on both my Iphone and Ipad.  (Cannot connect to Itunes Store.)   (OK)
I am able to connect on my Mac.   My Password is correct.

    Hi Velvalee,
While there may not be specific information about that error, here is an article of steps for troubleshooting connectivity issues with the iTunes store:
