Connecting BT Hub 3 to a Netgear universal WiFi Ra...

My netgear wifi extender seems connected to my BT Hub 3 but when my iPad tries to connect to the extender wifi it does not accept the wireless key from my BT Hub. Has anyone managed to get this to work ? Thanks.

Yes it will work. No crossover cable is needed as all switches are auto sensing anyway.
If you did not want to run a cable, then you could connect the hub to the switch using Powerline adapters.

Can I use a Netgear Universal WN3000RP Wi-Fi Range Extender with my Airport Express to extend the range?
If so, is there anything that I need to do in order to configure my computer for it to work properly?
Are there any disadvanges to doing this (speed, signal strength)?
    Thanks.

You always want to stay with the same manufacturer if possible for your wireless needs to insure compatibility. If you have a recent version AirPort Express now, using another Express to "extend" the wireless signal will usually work well if there are not too many obstructions for the signal to overcome.
We cannot say if the Netgear device might work for you or not.....it was not compatible with Apple when we tried a sample a few months ago.....but with wireless, you never really know.
Let's just say that the product may not be as "universal" as the title might suggest. There are likely some footnotes in the Netgear materials that their product will not work with devices that use "proprietary" settings, as Apple does.
If you try the Netgear device, let us know how it works for you.

  • Connecting IPad1 to Netgear WN3000RP WiFi Extender

I have a Netgear WN3000RP WiFi Range Extender. It works perfectly with my Iphone 4S, my Ipad2, Ipod and PC. When I want to connect my Ipad1, the Ipad finds the extender, says it is connected in the upper left corner and in the WiFi settings, but it won't actually connect. The 'search wheel' does not change into a 'checkmark' to indicate connection. In apps, the Ipad indicates it is not connected to the internet.
Any idea what could solve this problem? Thanks and regards.

  • How many pcs can connect to hub at same time

how many pcs can connect to hub  at same time, I have looked everywhere and if you know where did u find the answer,  many thanks

Most routers specs I've seen have a theoretical maximum of 256, but obviously due to practical performance issues would likely limited to less than 20.
As said, usually more than a home user would need.

  • Macbook hangs when unlocking only when connected to university wifi. Any suggestions?

So, when I am connected to some university's wifi, It takes longer than a minute to unlock the screen. The process goes something like this when the laptop is connected to university wifi:
    1) I click to bring up the password
    2) I type in the correct password and press enter
    3) I wait for ~75 seconds
    4) The screen unlocks
When I am connected to home wifi, or a different institution's wifi, or no wifi
    1) I click to bring up the password
    2) I type in the correct password and press enter
    3) I wait for less than a second
    4) The screen unlocks
The fact that I always wait 75 seconds (I just tested it 3 times), leads me to think it might be a timeout for something, but I'm stumped as to what the lock screen could be doing with the wifi!
    Any suggestions?

This also happens for any check of my password (e.g. when I try to unlock system preferences). When it does, I am unable to use they keyboard for anything.
I also forgot to mention that my hard disk is encrypted with FileVault.

  • "No secured connection defined (UX 0014)" error when exporting universe

I have set up 20 universes in BO XI 3.1 (on Win 2003), no problem. So far, so good.
But with 1 universe, i have a very bizar problem:
After import i get: "Universe connection is not accessible"
After export i get:  "The connection associated with the universe has not been defined. You must create a secured connection. (UX0014).
But when i perform a test in the ODBC connection: OK
When i test the connenction in BO Designer: OK
So, i seem to have a secured conenction to that database. And a tnsping is successfull as well.....
What is going on here ?
    Rgds,
    Johan

    Hi,
Its seems , you don't have access for that universe connection , that why your are getting the ""Universe connection is not accessible" error while you are import the universe.
Also you should have "secured connection " if you want export the universe .
So Please check the universe  access rights for you and check the universe connection type also.
    Thanks

  • Connecting USB Hub doesn't connect some devices (randomly)

I have quite a few USB devices (normally 5: external Apple Modem, mouse, ext. Apple keyboard, 2 printers), which I plug into a USB 2 hub (externally powered D-Link DUB-H7). When I bring my MBP back to my desk, I plug the hub into one of the ports on my MBP.
In theory, this should connect all of my devices. In practice, it connects only some of them, and which ones it connects seems to be completely random. Sometimes just two, sometimes all of them. Sometimes the keyboard and not the mouse, sometimes vice-versa, and sometimes neither (both plug directly into the hub - I'm not using the keyboard hub).
If I unplug and re-plug the main cable - I get another set of devices. If I unplug the cable to an unrecognized device and re-plug, it is then recognized.
As you might imagine, this is a PITA.
    I have tried:
    - running USB Prober, including logging. This confirms that the non-working devices aren't recognized by the system at all, until I re-plug. The logging doesn't tell me anything that I can make use of.
    - installed the debugging USB kext (http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers/download/usbdebug.html). This makes the USB Prober log give more information, but still doesn't tell me anything that helps. If this causes writing to some other log, I can't find it.
    - replaced the hub with an identical, brand new hub. No difference.
    - replaced the main USB cable with another USB 2 certified cable. No difference.
Looked at the console and system logs. There are some USB-related errors, but nothing unusual happens at the point of connecting the hub. There are msgs from USB Prober, but I get these even when (successfully) unplugging and re-plugging a single device. E.g.

So, any ideas on what this problem is, or how to track it down? The behavior is as if there are two many device-connection events happening in too short a time, and some of them are getting dropped. If so, could be an OS problem. But, that seems pretty basic.
I'd be glad to provide more detailed logs, if someone can specify what to log.

Hi all (esp. Carolyn). I bought a new hub (BelkinUSB 2.0 7-Port Economy Hub http://www.buy.com/prod/belkin-usb-2-0-7-port-economy-hub/q/loc/101/202378584.ht ml ), and my problems are gone.
I did more searching (I had done a lot already), and found a single comment on newegg by someone having similar and worse problems - same D-Link hub, and also on a Mac, though the 2 other Mac users had no complaints.

Some other users of this hub had problems also, on PC's as well, though most had none.
Unfortunately, now I'm stuck w/2 junk hubs (warranty has expired). At least my problems are gone!

  • Connection through Hub but not extender

Hi - I have a BT Dual Band Wifi Extender 600 which originally I set up at home using the WPS button on my Home Hub 5 and it worked fine. I took it on holiday (where I knew wifi was poor) pressed the reset button, connected to the property's wifi via my iPad browser, and again it worked fine. Came back home, reset again, but found this time it would not connect to the Hub via WPS so used the browser (via iPad), and the Extender seemed to have made a good connection to the Hub with the green signal light showing. However now my iPad will not connect to the internet (despite showing a strong wifi connection) as long as the Extender is the stronger signal. If I take it in next to the Hub everything is fine. Any ideas?

  • Lost connection to Hub Error

I just received the IMG 1.6 update yesterday. While streaming DVR to my HD box, I reveive an error "Lost connection to Hub..." the program will then start from the beginning. Anyone else have this problem?

I was having this issue so i called in.  The representative I spoke to was extremely Knowledgable.  He did some research, which took about 20min, and found the answer.  Apparently this is a known issue that has occured with the new IMG update.  He said that the IMG developers know about the problem but do not have a target date for a fix yet.

  • Unable to load login page for university wifi

I am in France, using the university wifi system (de la CROUS). I have a macbook from 2008 running Leopard 10.5 that connects perfectly (Safari), loads the login page and let's me surf normally. I now have a new macbook pro (2011) running Lion. It also connects to the wifi without a problem (Safari), but the login page will not load. I've checked all the settings I can find and verified that they're the same as my macbook. I've cleared the Safari cache and tried enabling/disabling pop-ups. The graphic for the login page loaded once, but then timed out. I have been trying for almost a week. I have went to see the people in charge of the connection, but no one there seems to know anything about macs (it's France, after all). Any thoughts? Any and all help with appreciated!

I know for sure that both are up to date.
Update: I downloaded firefox by tethering my phone and i AM able to access and login to the system using firefox. the problem then lies with safari. i tried google chrome and has the same problem. has anyone else encountered this issue with safari?

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • HT4623 Hi, I'm unable to install updates on my iPad. I tried several times and i received a message saying I'm not connected to the internet. I have a wifi at home. I also tried through my MacBook Pro with no success.

I'm unable to install updates my iPad.

What model iPad and what version of iOS is it currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
