Connecting Counter hardware to DAQCard-AI-16E-4

I am dealing with a pulse train signal produced by our hardware with varying period, and am looking to obtain the time between each lo-hi transition.
I have looked at the Count Time - Easy (DAQ-STC).vi within Labview 6 and this seems to give me what i want (the time between the events).
My question is how do i connect my hardware to my DAQCard-AI-16E-4 via the SCB-68?
This is my first time trying to work with counter/timers etc.
Any info appreciated and also other solutions to the problem that i may be overlooking.
Regards Ross

The SCB-68 should have shipped with a big sticker designed to fit under the top cover. Apply the sticker. Now if you look, you should see where the counter-timer connections need to be made on the screw terminals. Consult the DAQ documentation that should have been installed from your NI-DAQ CD for the definitions of the vairous pins. Make sure you only connect TTL (0-5 V) signal levels to the counter-timers. They can be damaged more easily than the analog input channels, or so I've seen.
Also, you might want to post the question over in the Multifunction I/O group.

  • AI Read sync'd to DAQCard-AI-16E-4 generated clock signal.

I need to read multiple (3) analog input channels on a DAQCard-AI-16E-4.
The device I am connecting to needs receive a clock signal to indicate that
it should generate output. I want to send a signal and then read the three
channels and then send the next signal. I will implement this in a loop so
that I can read until a specified count of inputs has been received or until
the user hits a stop button.
Should I focus on using the SCANCLK, FREQ_OUT or simply use a digital out to
    output my clock?
Which functions will I need to call in VB to do what I want? If someone
could just list a command set that would do what I want it would really help
point me in the right direction.

    Hi Don,
    Couple of quick questions first
What sort of frequency do you want your loop to run at?
How quickly after the trigger pulse do you want to read the outputs, are the outputs transients or steady state readings?
Do you want to do this using the NI-DAQ API or the NI ComponentWorks ActiveX controls?

We have the 'DAQCard-AI-16E-4' with PSHR 68 68 cable and a scb-68 connector block to connect the signals to this daq card. and also NI-DAQ software.
May I know the wiring configuration between DAQCard-AI-16E and scb-68.
Kindly provide me detail wiring configuration between that two. and also application note if any for perticular this card with Laptop connection.

    Hello,
Please find attached a file in the bmp format that gives the pin-out diagram for the PSHR68-68M cable (PSHR68-68 is a shielded cable kit that contains a PSHR68-68M cable).
You can also get the same pin-out diagram from National Instruments website if you go to the following link and type '2XIH98R9' in the search box.
    http://search.ni.com/?layout=KB
Here's the webpage for PSHR68-68 and you can find more information about it here in the Product Data Sheet.

This DAQCard has 16 AI channels, 8 DIO lines and 2 counters. These can be located in the diagram for the PCMCIA end (DAQCard-AI-16E-4) as well as the SCB-68 connector end, alongwith GND lines.
    I hope this answe

  • The FInal Step, i have created a program to all my specifications and i am now ready to connect the hardware

I have created a program to all my specifications and i am now ready to connect the hardware.
My program was created to automate the cleaning process of an atmostpheric chamber. It controls two valves based on the pressure readings and time intervals. When creating this program i figured that if a could make a boolean turn on or off based on the pressure readings then it would be no problem somehow wiring it to send a signal to the hardware. I have reached that point and don't know how to proceed.  I was told that the first step is to figure out what kind of Card is being interfaced with the program.
I have read up on this subject and it seems like there is many ways to do it.
All sugestions will be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure how you can create the program without knowing what hardware you're going to be using. But...  What have you read up on? You will need to select your data acquisition hardware. What kind of signals do you have? What kind of transducers do you have? What kind of actuators do you have? You may want to start with:
    Introduction to Data Acquisition
    Digital Voltage Measurement Fundamentals
    Complete Data Acquisition Tutorial
EDIT: Re-reading your post and seeing Waldemar's response: Do you actually already have a card installed?

  • JDBC Active Connection count issue- Current row null issue

In our weblogic conse 10.3.5, the max connection capacity is set to 25, however when we start using the application , over a small period of time the current active connection count increases more than 25 like 30,55, 85 etc .. How is this possible? . Once the number of active connection count goes above the max connection capacity, our application behaves weirdly, some time for some users the current row return null and as a result we get Null pointer exception. we are using Jdev 11.1.2.1 and the application was migrated from 10g. The AM configuration is the default one as specified in most docs or when we create a new application module. Could you guys help us out.

How many concurrent users do you have? Are you opening database connections manually in the application code? If so, are you closing these connections when done?

  • RMI TCP Connection in a log file - connection count in brackets?

    Hello,
I have a server whcih logs RMI connections to a file. For example, I can find these kind of log-lines in the file:
2009-10-19 07:43:33,809 INFO  [RMI TCP Connection(2559)-109.84.36.165] de.test.foo..FooService This is the log messageI wonder what the number in brackets means: (2559)
Does it represent the number of currently open connections (this would be very bad in my case), or is it just a simple counter to distinguish between different RMI connections in the log file?
Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hello,
thanks for your answer, good to hear that it is just a counter. I was not seriously thinking that it was a connection count - but you know, there are moments when I just have to ask to be sure ;)

  • Time connected counter intermittently disappears

Ever since I set up my TC to handle the PPPoE connection (instead of the modem/router, which I put into bridge mode) with one Airport Express in WDS mode, I'm having a strange problem: on my iMac, in the menu bar next to the Airport reception symbol, there is a counter telling me how long PPPoE has been connected. This counter randomly disappears dozens of times an hour, each time coming back within a couple seconds. The internet connection doesn't seem affected. The counter doesn't reset itself, so that means the PPPoE connection is solid. The Airport reception gets the full 4 bars and doesn't waver, so it would seem that it's not my iMac's connection either. It's just really annoying and I'd love to understand what's causing it.
    TIA.

It's me again. I gave up and plugged my iMac into the TC via ethernet and now the connection is rock solid, but my MacBook Air is constantly having the same problem with the time connected counter appearing/disappearing every few seconds. The internet connection is therefore very patchy and I cannot complete any Time Machine backups.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, as this is a problem I can't find ANY info about anywhere!

  • SCOM 2007 - SharePoint 2007: Maximum connections counter

    Hello,
I am trying to locate the "Maximum connections counter" for SharePoint 2007 using SCOM 2007. I don't see it so far!!!
"Web Service - Maximum Connections" does not show anywhere any idea?

The object is Web Service, which then has several different counters, which then might have several instances.
If this performance object is something you want to monitor for, and it is not included in the mp, then you just need to create a performance monitor or collection rule, depending on what you want to do with the data.
The Exchange 2013 MP, for example, has no performance collection rules.  So it's very possible, while the product group wanted to include everything most people need, they could have forgotten or were just not able to do so before they had to release
the mp.  The MOSS 2007 MP has been around for years, was never updated, and isn't one of the better mps from MSFT.  So if you want to extend it with a custom management pack, or just add something via the console, then you should be fine.

  • Administration Console Connection Count

I'm unable to acquire an accurate connection count for live streams.  My current setup entails a live Multi-Bitrate stream via HTTP HLS and HDS with DVR (HDS) and sliding window (HLS).  My connection count persistently shows five connections, which is actually the number of streams I'm delivering for the live Mult-Bitrate streams.  It doesn't matter if I have 20 viewers or 100 viewers, the count always show five.  Any suggestions?

Thank you Petro, this was helpul.  For some reason on my Apache, I did not have to use :8134.  I think the number I'm looking for is BusyWorkers.  However it's kind of mis-leading because I have multi-bitrate streaming, so a viewer can represent 1 to 5 BusyWorkers.  If 100 viewers are constantly switching between the multi-bitrates, then potentially I can have 500 BusyWorkers.  Would 500 BusyWorkers mean 500 viewers?  When reality I have 100 viewers.  I did notice that after a while once, a particular bitrate becomes persistent, the BusyWorkers drop down (perhaps they expire).  So if the viewers have consistent bandwidth, I can assume each BusyWorker represents a single viewer.

  • Xlate count and connection count

Can a firewall show more XLATE created than CONNECTIONS?
Is that theoretically possible to have more XLATEs than the total number of connections?. the reason I am asking, that assuming a Cisco 5510 has have maximum 130,000 total connections, however xlate limit on an ASA is considered as UNLIMITED.
I am designing a large network having multiple CIsco ASAs deployed as multi context mode to cater various networks inside the organization. I want to create proper resources per class. So far Xlate count vs. connection count is not very clear.. I tried putting a very large value for xlate and the firewall accepted it, and still showed the total percentage as 0%
    Xlates           default          all      CA  unlimited
                     123                2       C 2147483647 4294967294      0.00%
                     All Contexts:      3                    4294967294      0.00%
Whereas connection count is shown as
    Conns            default          all      CA  unlimited
                     123                2       C      65000     130000    100.00%
                     All Contexts:      3                        130000    100.00%
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    FNK

    Hi
as far as i remember xlate is nat (regardless if it is static or not)
and on the IOS systems it is the same, static entries are in the table.
connections are actual session in the packetfilter/firewall sessions this is a differnet operation.

  • Help go count hardware for oracle server

    Hi,
    I need to count hardware for Oracle server;
users obout 10000 people at the same time.
What memory(RAM) and proceesos frequens(MHz) should be?
Where to find information about it?

You should consider that if 10000 users will be concurrently in the database, and if at least 2m ram will be consumed by an oracle server process (just to start), then 20000mb ram will be required (at least) to support 10,000 oracle processes at the same time, about 20Gb for users, next, consider the amount of required SGA memory (not an exact value, as it depends on the database profile, DWH, OLTP, Hybrid). plus the processes for the regular OS operation.
This is not a small application, have you thought about growth? You should be thinking about scaleability. May be not a huge machine, but a cluster of more affordable machines that will grow with your needs.

  • FWSM: differing connection count with congestion

    Hello,
I would like to ask if this is a known issue and if there is a remedy:
When issuing a "sh local-host <ip-address>" I often get an increasing count of connections for this address, whereas a "sh conn local <ip-address>" and a snmp query with .1.3.6.1.2.1.123.1.6.1.9 both show a different (and much lower) count.
Unfortunately, the pretended count of active connections "sh local-host <ip-address>" seems to cause trouble so that new connections are declined and I have to "clear local-host <ip-address>".
    So my questions are:
    1. Why is there a different count with "sh local-host <ip-address>" and "sh conn local <ip-address>" (or SNMP query)?
    2. How may I prevent this connection congestion?
(Yes, we have static connection limits, but this is curing the sympton not the root of wrong accumulated connections.)
Thank you very much in advance for any clue!
    Kind regards,
    Bernhard

    Hi,
I would like to add another question:
From Mike's answer I understand that the counter may differ if there is a heavy load on the NPs.
What would be of interest is why the counter from sh local-conn doesn't come "back to reality" after a while and lowers the connection count according to the "real" connections shown by sh conn-local?
It's keeping summing up and causes trouble. It lowers its count only by a clear local-host command. This seems buggy to me.
Does someone know a procedure to handle this? Manually issuing clear local-host commands isn't really funny.
    Thanks in advance!

  • How can i connect a hardware VTEP gateway to a NSX controller?

I have a hardware VTEP gateway which supports OVSDB configuration but there is no SSL support over OVSDB. Can  anyone suggest is there a way to configure the hardware VTEP to the controller without SSL.
What about the idea of using a intermediate node which can act as a SSL gateway betweent the controller and the hardware VTEP?

    Just for other readers:
Hardware VTEP allows L2 VXLAN/VLAN connectivity.
That's for the use case where you have VMs on a VXLAN logical switch (10.1.1.11/24)  and you want them L2 connected to physical servers on a VLAN (10.1.1.21/24).
NSX offers native VXLAN/VLAN connectivity too:
    1. with DLR bridging (used for Logical/Physical L2 connectivity within a DC)
    2. with L2 SSL-VPN (used for Logical/Physical L2 connectivity with a remote location)
NSX-v 6.2 (planed early Q3) will support Hardware VTEP.
Contact your physical switch vendor to see if it will support integration with NSX-v.
    Important Note:
HW VTEP will be incompatible with NSX Distributed Logical Router function. In other words the subnet (10.1.1.0/24) extended from Logical (VXLAN) to Physical (VXLAN) via HW VTEP won't be able use a dist L3 (only central L3).
When using NSX-v 6.2 native VXLAN/VLAN bridging, you'll be able to combine VXLAN/VLAN bridging and still enjoy Dist L3 for that subnet.

  • Unable to connect to hardware target in Vivado

I have Vivado 2015.1 running on Ubuntu Linux 64-bit with a Nexys4 DDR board. I've got the board set up to be programmed using the JTAG (see attached image). Running dmesg on the Linux system I see:

I know hw_server is running as I can telnet to port 3121. In the tcl console I have done disconnect_hw_server and connect_hw_server. I do Connect Hardware Target, choose Local Target, but then I see:
[Labtoolstcl 44-26] No hardware targets exist on the server [TCP:localhost:3121]
Check to make sure the cable targets connected to this machine are properly connected
and powered up, then use the disconnect_hw_server and connect_hw_server commands
    to re-register the hardware targets.
As a Linux user, I am in the dialout group and I can open /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 with minicom. Can someone with a Nexys4 board let me in on the secret! I can keep programming bitstreams using a USB key, but it would be much easier to use the JTAG across the USB cable.
    Many thanks, Warren
P.S Hopefully my last question for a while.

Thanks aher for pointing that web page. On my Ubuntu 15.04 Linux box, as the root user I did this:
    # cd /opt/Xilinx/Vivado/2015.1/data/xicom/cable_drivers/lin64/install_script/install_drivers
    # ./install_drivers
The install script creates the file /etc/udev/rules.d/52-xilinx-pcusb.rules with contents:
    # version 0002

    ATTR{idVendor}=="03fd", ATTR{idProduct}=="0015", MODE="666"
After rebooting my box, I started up Vivdado, created a bitstream, went to the Hardware Manager and found that I have a xc7a100t_0 device on localhost. I was able to send the bitstream down to my Nexys4 DDR board.
    Cheers & thanks again, Warren
