Connecting "ms project pro 2007" to "project server 2013"?

Hello, Is there a way to connect "ms project pro 2007" to "project server 2013"? Do we have a "backward compatibility mode" in this context? Thankx

If I understood correctly, you are asking for whether the MS Project Professional 2007 is supported in Project Server 2013. The answer is
no.
Project Server 2013 supports only Project Professional 2013 version.

  • Search not working in site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013

I have few site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013 using database attach (first to 2010 and then to 2013).
When I search for anything in these migrated sites, I get "Nothing here matches your search".
Checked the crawl log for these sites and see this error for all items.
The content processing component failed to process the security descriptor of the item. ( The input ACL is invalid (1210 / 2072).; ; SearchID =
    Some-Random-GUID )
Search works fine in newly created sites in 2013 environment.
    Please help.

    Hello
Did you migrate your users to claims when you migrated the databases?
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication http://yourdom.com
    $wa.MigrateUsers($true)
    $wa.ProvisionGlobally()
I assume the sites that work and the migrated content are in the same database?

  • Unable to save/publish Projects on Project Server 2010() using Project Pro 2007 and 2010

    Hi,
Recently we have upgraded from Project Server 2007 to 2010 SP-2 (BCM enabled) environment and from last few days we are getting issue with Project Plans where PMs are not able to update Projects means save and publish the Project using MS Project  2010/2007.
Whenever PMs try to open project using MS Project 2010 SP-2, it gets load successfully but when they hit save and publish no jobs are getting fired up nothing is happening. Only way to get out from MS Project 2010 window is to close the Project window and
and click discard changes. No error and exception windows are popping out in MS Project 2010, no error/problem/issue clue at all from MS Project 2010.
But when I try to update this Project plan for very first time using MS Project 2007 Sp-2 then I am getting below error
for any subsequent save and publish using MS Project 2007-SP2 getting below error
As an alternative I have tried to open this Project Plan using web and there it is getting opened saved and published successfully from PWA absolutely no issue.
Also I have saved this Project locally as XML and saved and published it on Server successfully. But after someday again this project got corrupt PMs started getting same problem again
I have also looked at ULS logs but not getting anything useful there.
So any guesses why this could happen that can give me pointers to find actual root cause, please let me know.
    Thanks much !!!

Used below steps to fix the Projects on MSP 2010.
    1) Open corrupted project in MS Project connected to PS 2010 Prod env.
    2) Goto > Resource > Add Resource  > Build Team From Enterprise
    3) Check is there any local resource who has not replaced with corresponding enterprise resource. If yes then replace all those local resources with enterprise resource. If not then move to next step.
    4) Open resource sheet view and sort or filter by local resources.
    5) Then add few columns in resource sheet view like "Windows User Account, Email Address , Base Calendar etc".
    6) Now check has any local resource having enterprise attribute assigned to it, if yes then delete or assign local value as appropriate.
    7) Then GoTo > File > Save & Send > Save as project file > Save for sharing (at local location)
    8) Close project plan window and click "Yes" to save changes.
    9) Restart MS Project 2010 and open your project from local location.
    10) Then Goto > File > Save & Send > "Publish to Project Server". This will open "Import Project Wizard" to validate Resources and Task in Project.
    11) Then in Import Project Wizard window at left hand side click "Map Resource" to validate project resources.
    12) This will "Map Project Resource to Enterprise Resource " check all the resources highlighted with "Red" font and map "Standard" calendar to local resources.
Note: Don't worry about local resource assigned "Standard calendar" but still highlighted "Red".
    13) Then click "OK" and click on "Continue to step 2" at bottom of "Import Project Wizard".
    14) Make sure you get number of errors 0 in step 2, else click on validate resource and take proper corrective action as explained in step 6.
    15) If you leave at least one resource as a local resource (unmapped to an enterprise resource), you will see the local resource in the Import Resource grid on the right side
    of the Confirm Resources page.
Examine the value in the "Import" column (if not able to see this column then insert this as new column) for the local resource .
The default value is "Yes", then change the value in the "Import" column
to "No", else system will import the local resource as an enterprise
    resource.
    16) Then "Continue to step 3, 4 and 5".
    17) Then at Step 5 , Save project to Project Server by clicking "Save as" link.
    18) Then publish the project to update the plan at PWA 2010.

Could someone help me with the bellow please:
I have a Mac with outlook 2011 on it.
We have recently set up Exchange Server 2013, and all of the Windows Workstation just required the trusted root certificate to be installed and they were working.
However I have spent hours reading different forums trying to get this working on the Mac and no luck.

MS Project Server 2010 gives me the following error when I try to click on the [No Group] group:
    Error message:
The group "" cannot be found. You tried to display a view that references a group that is not available.

Note: When I look at the drop downlist for the Group on the View Ribbon, [No Group] appears in the Built-in section of the list. It also appears on the Organizer.

I have seen this error message several times when the project got corrupted due to drops in my network connection while the enterprise project was open.  If memory serves me correctly, the method for resolving this problem is to use the Save For
Sharing feature.  To do this, complete the following steps:
Add the Save for Sharing button to your Quick Access Toolbar, if you have not already done so previously.  Use the Project Options dialog for this.
Open the project in question and click the Save for Sharing button.
In the Save for Sharing dialog, save the MPP file in a location where you can find it easily, such as your Desktop.
Close the MPP file and then reopen it.
Click File > Save As and then click the Save button.
Using this process, Microsoft Project will resolve the corruption in your project.  Please let us know if this process works for you.

  • Airport Connections on MacBook Pro 2007 (and later?)

I'm posting this more than 2 years of struggling with my MacBook Pro Airport WLan connection - success finally.
Sounds weird - I post this for all who might struggle and be puzzled by the erratic behaviour of the Airport connection. Ever accidentally disabled Airport in the Network settings utility while trying to trouble shoot network problems with the assistant? You might be unable to re-enable Airport in the desktop menu bar.... how this complex web of network settings interact is still enigmatic to me.
I always had the problem of the Airport being able to connect to my WLAN router without a flaw, but never to the internet. Ethernet cable worked, USB wireless worked, a newer MacBook had no problem, but whatever I did the MBP never got a useable connection.
What finally made it work perfectly was adding a new Airport service in one of the Environments (Automatic or other) settings (e.g. called "Airport 2" if Airport is already in the list). Then entering all the existing wlan settings, and also your ISP connection data like username and password in the assistant - and voila, suddenly and for the very first time a perfect wireless Airport connection to the internet.
Maybe this helps some of you with similar troubles.
    Regards
    macgem

At my office the Access Point is an Apple Airport Express 802.11G Distance to the computer is approximately 6 inches. I tried moving it further out thinking that might help. It didn't. Encryption on the 802.11G is set at WPA. I did a scan for available networks around me and found 8 other nets using channels 1, 6, 11, and 5. I set my apple to Channel 8 which I found to be completely clear of any other networks. I have installed all updates from Apple including OSX and the Wireless updates. I am using the unit on AC power, however it also does the same things on battery now. I have deleted all of my 100 wireless profiles and started fresh, and that has not helped at all.
With this now happening, my once great laptop that I use in multiple networks has become nothing better than my prior piece of sh*t HP I had for two years. I cannot believe that a system update/network update from Apple could cause so much trouble.
System Specs: Macbook Pro 15" Core 2 Due 2.33Ghz, 3GB RAM, 802.11N Enabled.

  • Unstable WiFi connectivity in macbook pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

    Hi guys!
My macbook pro is connected to the internet via WiFi router, and it very often it happens that my macbook loses connectivity with it. WiFi logo shows the same signal strength, but all browsers (Safari & Chrome) can't load webpages.
This issue can be solved by turning WiFi on and off, but it happens again and again. It looks like connectivity loses when Macbook goes in sleep mode and get's back from it, but sometimes connectivity issues happen even without sleep mode switching.
I found in the internet that this issue can be solved by turning off Bluetooth and tried, but it didn't help.
I totally understand that from one point of view this issue is not a big deal, but we are speaking about Apple device, and before I thought that this brand is synonime for ultimate quality and reliability. So please help me with this issue and bring back my faith in Apple;)

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
    Step 4
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Outlook 2007 compatiable with Exchange server 2013

    Hi
I would like to ask, i have outlook 2007 and Exchange server 2013, when i configure outlook 2007, i fail to configuration, Is it outlook 2007 compaitable to exchange server 2013.

Yes, Outlook 2007 is supported. Make sure that the Outlook 2007 clients are fully updated. As a minimum, you need
    SP3 for office 2007,
    kb2687404 and
    kb2768023.
Again, the best approach is to have all office 2007 updates installed.

    4 servers: Hub&CAS1 & Hub&CAS2 & Mailbox1 & Mailbox2
Operating System : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64
    6 mailbox databases
    1500 Mailboxes
We need to upgrade our exchange server from 2007 to 2013 to fulfill the following requirment:
I want to upgrade the exchange server 2007 to exchange server 2013 and implement the following details:
    1500 mailboxes
10GB or 15GB mailbox quota for each user
    How many
    servers and databases  are
    required for this migration<ins cite="mailto:Mohammad%20Ashouri" datetime="2014-05-18T22:41"></ins>?
    Number of the servers:
    Number of the databases:
    Size of each database:
    Many thanks.

You will also need to check server role requirement in exchange 2013. Please go through this link to calculate the server role requirement : http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/05/14/released-exchange-2013-server-role-requirements-calculator.aspx
2TB is recommended maximum database size for Exchange 2013 databases.
Here is the complete checklist to upgrade from exchange 2007 to 2013 : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff805032%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
Meanwhile, to reduce the risks and time consumed during the completion of migration process, you can have a look at this proficient application(http://www.exchangemigrationtool.com/) that would also be
a good approach for 1500 users. It will help you to ensure the data security during the migration between exchange 2007 and 2013.

  • Project Server / Project Pro = Cut and Paste official best practices to avoid corruption

It is pretty common knowledge among Project Server veterans that Cut and Paste between Project Pro files can cause corruption with the assignment table. This leads to Publish and Reporting (Project Publish)
failures. I just went through an upgrade from Project Server 2007 to 2013 and a LOT of files had to be rebuilt from scratch.
I ask my users to not Cut and Paste within or between project files. They do not always listen.
I have looked and cannot find official Microsoft text on the subject or at least some sort of official best practices doc. It would help me prevent some corruption if I had a doc with a Microsoft logo that says “It is not recommended….”
Or “If you do this you will make your admin cry…”
If this doc is right in front of me and I just missed it I apologize in advance.
    Thanks

    John --
To the best of my knowledge, there is no such Best Practice document from Microsoft.  Based on my experience with Project Server from Project Central through Project Server 2013, following are some items that can cause corruption in your project:
Use of special characters in the name of the project.
Cutting/copying/pasting entire task rows within a single enterprise project or between multiple enterprise projects.
Opening an enterprise project on your laptop while connected to a wireless network, then closing the laptop lid, walking to another room in the building when you pass from one wireless access point to another, and then opening the laptop lid again.
I learned this from one of our former clients.
Beyond this, there are some other items that will not corrupt your project, but which will cause problems with saving or publishing a project.  These items include:
Using blank rows in the project.
Using special characters in task names.
Task names that start with a space character (this sometimes happens when copying and pasting from an Excel workbook).
In both Project Server 2010 and 2013, the recommended method for resolving a corrupted project is to use the Save for Sharing feature. Refer to my directions in the following thread on how to use the Save for Sharing feature:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/ec2c5135-f997-40e1-8fe1-80466f86d373/task-default-changing?forum=projectprofessional2010general
Beyond what guidance I have provided, I am hoping other members of this community will add their thoughts as well.  Hope this helps.

  • MS Project Professional 2007 resource loaded .mpp file published to EPM server but resources can't see their tasks in PWA

    Hi all:
I'm using MS Project Professional 2007 and I created the schedule as an .mpp file and assigned resources before I loaded the schedule to the EPM server. I created the resource names consistently with the names in the Enterprise resource pool and when I go into
tools / assign resources and filter on enterprise resources, I see the resources I assigned to my project associated with the correct tasks. The only problem is that when these resources go into PWA, they can't see their assigned tasks even after I save and
publish the project. If I create a new resource assignment while I am connected to the server, then the resource can see the new assignment, but I don't want to have to completely recreate the project assignments to remedy this situation. Can anyone tell me
another way to fix it so that resources begin to see their assignments in PWA and can enter their time there?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Hey Dale.  Published = Yes on all tasks.  That's not it.
But you definitely hit the mark on Assignment Owner.  That must be where the problem is.  When I read that I remembered that when I go into PWA all the project tasks show up under My Tasks, which seemed wrong to me and I asked the administrator
about that.  he told me it was because I was the project owner.  Now I know that was not a correct response on his part and I'll point it out to him.
I did check the Resources and Assignment Owner was blank.  I tried to set it to be the Resource and it's a locked field.  I can't do it.  It doesn't surprise me that this field is locked because I suspect the administrator controls the
Enterprise Resource pool.  But what does it tell you that this field is blank.  Since I'm getting the tasks in my My Task list, I expected to find my name there.
    Anything else I should check?
Anything I should tell the admin about how to make the Resources the owners of their own tasks.  I assume that should be the default.  That can be corrected just as easily in the Resource Sheet View as in the Resource Usage view, I assume
    -- is that correct?
Thanks again for helping me figure out what the problem is.

  • Steps to migrate Project Server 2007 from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008?

We need to migrate Project server 2007 from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008.
    1. Is it as simple as doing backup and restore of databases and pointing Project Server to the new DB server? Or there are some specific steps that should be followed?
    2. Article at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd207290(office.12).aspx is about moving databases from one DB server to another (same versions). At one place, it mentions to
backup all databases but at another place it mentions that
You should only back up the Draft and Published databases from the source database server.
What should be done when moving from 2005 to 2008?
    Regards,
    Amit
    Gupta

High Level step you can get this form  Tech net or MSDN too
Shut down the SharePoint servers (App / Web)
backup all of the SharePoint and Project
Server databases from the SQL 2005 server
copy these over to the new SQL 2008 server and restore all of
the databases with the same names
script out all of the logins used by SharePoint/PS from the SQL 2005 server and create these on the SQL 2008 server
script out the Delete expired sessions SQL job from the SQL 2005 server and create this on the SQL 2008 server - or create them manually on the SQL 2008 server
repoint the SQL server DNS Alias from the SQL 2005 server to the SQL 2008 server, if SharePoint and Project Server was installed using the actual SQL server name and no alias, you can create a DNS alias for the old SQL 2005 server name that points to the SQL
2008 server. This is so that the SharePoint servers can still connect to the same SQL server name
    Start up the SharePoint servers

  • Unable to Connect to Project Server 2013 from Project 2013

    Hello,
I'm trying to connect to Project Server 2013 from Project 2013 but it is not working.
I'm able to connect to the PWA from IE 10 on Windows 8 Enterprise
On Project 2013, I configured account to connect to Project Server 2013 and I checked the "Log on to Project Server from Project Professional" global permission and it is on.
Any idea why it is not connecting?

So you are using Project Online and not Project Server 2013? Can other users access Project Online from Project Pro successfully in your organisation? If it was an authentication issue, Project would prompt for credentials.
