Connecting to SSL OID using Apache Directory Studio

I have an OID instance setup with SSL. SSL settings:
SSL Authentication: No authentication
Cipher Suite: All
SSL Protocol Version: All
I'm using a wallet which has a cert signed by a CA. When I'm trying to connect to OID using Apache Directory Studio it is failing with SSLHandshakeException and I get no errors in the em console.
Is there a way to view in apache directory studio what is going wrong?

Did you import a certificate into your java cacerts file that is being used by your Apache instance?

  • RV220W - Connect to SSL VPN using Win7 Built-In SSTP

I'm relatively new to establishing VPN connections and I'm having one heck of a time getting everything configured.
I'm setting up a RV220W at the office and trying to get VPN steup. I've have gotten Quick VPN connections working using the QuickVPN software. I've given up for now on IPsec VPN connactions and will come back to these later.
What I'd like to get setup is the SSL VPN connections using the Win7 built in VPN client. Is this even possible? I initially tried to connect to the VPN via the SSL Web access but I cannot get the software/divers to install on any of the 3+ Win7 64 bit machines I tried.
So can the SSL VPN on the RV220W be setup to connect to with the Win7 VPN Client using SSTP?
Any links or guidance on how to setup the cerificates on the server and where to install them on the Client PCs? I think this is my major issue right now as the error I get when I try to connect is either: "The certificate's CN name does not match the passed value" (Error Code: 0x800B010F)  or " A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider" (Error Code: 0x800B0109). I'm trying to use self signed certifcates and I'm not sure if that is the issue (self signed vs genuine) but I really am not getting anywhere with this.
Also, the VPN does not have a FQDN just a static IP if this matters.
While I'm at it, I'd also gladly take any good links for IPsec on the RV220W but I wont be tackling that until SSL & the certificates are setup.
    Thanks,
    Justin

OK. Sorry to reply to myself but I got a few steps further. I figured I'd post how in case anyone needs to references this in the future or correct something I've done wrong.
So I've decided to use a Self Signed Certificate.
First I went to the Certificate page on the RV220W Config
Select Generate Certificate and fill in the info. As I'm not using a FQDN but a static IP, I set the Name, Subject & IP address all to the same, static IP.
I generated that and then hit view to copy the CSR
From there you need to generate a certificate.
    I used Getacert (http://www.getacert.com/signacert.html)
I pasted the CSR into the text box and hit SubmitCSR
Make sure you save the getacert public certificate and your own signed certificate
Back in the RV220W Certificate page, upload the getacert.cer to the Trusted Certificate section and your own self certificate to Active Self Certificates Table
This should generate a new Cert for the router and you will have to reaccept it to get back to the web config
Back in the Cert page again, Download the routers certificate.
Back on your client, import both the getacert.cer as well as the routers certificate to the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities"
    These steps got me closer.
Now when I try to connect using the Win7 VPN Client with SSTP I get a new error: Error Description: 0x800704D4: The network connection was aborted by the local system.
Any idea how to resolve this on the RV220W?

  • Can't connect to OID using SSL (handshake failed NZerr 29039)

    Hi!
I'm trying to set up OID running on Windows Server 2003 for testing purposes.
I have downloaded the files as_windows_x86_oim_oif_101401_disk(1/2) and installed Oracle Internet Directory only.
I'm able to connect using standard clear text and using Oracle Directory Manager.
I have followed the instructions on this page (chapter 17):
Using Oracle Wallet Manager I have generated a certificate request with the key size of 2048.
I'm unsure what I was supposed to enter into the subject name of the request so I entered just "oid_idm", it looks like this now: "CN=oid_idm,C=US".
I then used my Novell eDirectory CA to sign the request and to generate the certificate. I exported the CA certificate from eDirectory and imported it into the wallet, it's listed under Trusted Certificates as "META-TREE", I then imported my signed certificate into the wallet and it says Certificate:Ready now.
The wallet is saved into C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DC-1\ORACLE\WALLETS.
    Auto Login is enabled.
Using Directory Manager I right-clicked Configuration Set1 and selected "Create Like"
I configured the new set to listen on non-SSL port 1389 and SSL port 1636,
    SSL Authentication: No SSL Authentication
    SSL Enable: SSL only
SSL Wallet URL: file:C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DC-1\ORACLE\WALLETSSSL Port: 1636
    Then I changed the OracleServiceORCL
to run as Administrator. Restarted the server, started the new instance (2).
Using this command on the OID server I can connect:
    ldapsearch -D cn=orcladmin -w secret -U 1 -h 192.168.0.101 -p 1636 -b dc=lab -s base "objectclass=*"
Trying to connect from my Linux server using it's own ldapsearch it doesn't work, I get the error: ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server
Trying to connect using Apache Directory Studio or LDAP Browser\Editor also doesn't work (SSL connection).
I can see the following in the log no matter which of the tree tools above I try to use:
    2008/10/12:13:01:09 * SSLthread:19 * ERROR * gslsflnNegotiateSSL * SSL Hand Shake failed Source address: 192.168.0.15(WINDESK)
    * (NZerr 29039)
Any ideas what I can do to solve this issue?
    Thanks!

If you are using openldap commands in your linux machine, you can get some issues with OID. Try with oracle ldap client command if you have it installed in your linux machine. Also try to use a ldapbrowser java client to confirm that your installation is fine it is the better choice to test your environment from remote machines.

  • Apache Directory on OSX Server for Windows PC's???

Is it possible to use Apache Directory Server as a service to provide Profiles, Home Shares, Individual Configurations, etc to Windows PC's as OSX Server does not support Windows Operating System after 10.7
    Any suggestions would be great!!
    Thanks

I have not setup a Samba4 system myself but I have found the following how-tos for you. I have used Ubuntu Server myself. The main difference between Ubuntu Server and client is that the Server does not have a GUI interface installed as standard. This is in this case a good idea as it reduces the processor and memory requirements. I would strongly advise going this route i.e. a CLI only interface.
First here is the official Samab4 setup instructions
    http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO
Now some user examples of Ubuntu Server setups
    http://www.matrix44.net/cms/notes/gnulinux/samba-4-ad-domain-with-ubuntu-12-04
    http://www.darklab.co.uk/2013/01/15/creating-a-samba-4-active-directory-primary- domain-controller-on-ubuntu-12-04-1-server/
    http://paulcolfer.ie/os/linux/samba-4-domain-controller-on-ubuntu-server-12-04/
You can download a pre-built Ubuntu Server image for use with VirtualBox from here
    http://virtualboxes.org/images/ubuntu-server/
You will still need to configure it and install the Samba components but at least Ubuntu Server itself will be already installed for you.

My client (Netscape browser) are making SSL connection to Apache.
I would use SSL3 from client to Apache then read the client certificate from
WebLogic (in back-end) servlet to check the user's attribute from ldap

certificate from front-end web server to WebLogic servlet?

  • OEL ldap client setup with SSL against OID using either ldaps or starttls

Hi, I've got OID 11.1.1.1.0 running with SSL enabled on port 3132. It's running in mode 2, SSL Server Authentication mode (orclsslauthentication is set to 32). I'd like to setup my OEL 5.3 and Solaris 10 ldap clients to connect to OID using SSL for user authentication. I have everything already working on the non-SSL port (3060), but I need to switch over to SSL. So far I can't get it to work on either OEL or Solaris. Does anyone out there know how to configure the client to use SSL?
    Here's my /etc/ldap.conf file on OEL 5.3.
    timelimit 120
    bind_timelimit 120
    idle_timelimit 3600
    nss_initgroups_ignoreusers root,ldap,named,avahi,haldaemon,dbus,radvd,tomcat,radiusd,news,mailman,nscd,gdm
    URI ldaps://FQDN:3132/
    port 3132
    ssl yes
    host FQDN
    base dc=DOMAIN,dc=com
    pam_password clear
    tls_cacertdir /etc/oracle-certs
    tls_cacertfile /etc/oracle-certs/oid-test-ca.pem
    tls_ciphers SSLv3
    # filter to AND with uid=%s
    pam_filter objectclass=posixaccount
    #The search scope
    scope sub
I have /etc/nsswitch.conf set to check for files first, then ldap
    passwd: files ldap
    shadow: files ldap
    group: files ldap
    Here's my /etc/openldap/ldap.conf file
    URI ldaps://FQDN:3132/
    BASE dc=DOMAIN,dc=com
    TLS_CACERT /etc/openldap/cacerts/oid-test-ca.pem
    TLS_CACERTDIR /etc/openldap/cacerts
    TLS_REQCERT allow
    TLS_CIPHERS SSLv3
The oid-test-ca.pem is a self-signed cert from the OID server. I also have the hash file configured.
    4224de9f.0 -> oid-test-ca.pem
I can run ldapsearch using ldaps and it works fine.
    ldapsearch -v -d 1 -x -H ldaps://FQDN:3132 -b "dc=DOMAIN,dc=com" -D "cn=user,cn=users,dc=DOMAIN,dc=com" -w somepass -s sub objectclass=* | more
But when I run the 'getent passwd' command, it only shows me my local user accounts and none of my ldap accounts. I also can't SSH in using a ldap account.
Solaris 10 is actually a whole other beast...I'm using the native Solaris ldap client (not PADL based) and I don't think it even works with SSL unless you're using the default ports (389/636).
Does anyone out there know how to setup the client-side for ldap authentication using SSL? Any tips, howto docs, or advice are appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello again...
after some research and work together with Oracle Support I found out how to get it to work:
    1. You have to create your own ConfigSet in OID using
    SSL-Server-Authentication
(OpenSSL seems not to support SSL-encryption-only).
The following link shows on how to do that:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/oid/oidhtml/oidqs/html_masters/a_port01.htm
    2. Add the following lines to your $HOME/ldaprc
    TLS_CACERT /home/frank/oid-caroot.pem
    TLS_REQCERT allow
    TLS_CIPHERS SSLv3
    ssl on
    tls_checkpeer no
oid-caroot.pem is the CA-Root Certificate you got
    during step 1
    3. you should now be able to use ldapsearch using SSL
If you still can't connect using SSL you may have run into another issue with OpenSSL which affects systems using OpenSSL version 0.9.6d and above. The problem seems to be caused by an security fix which may not be compliant with the SSL implementation of Oracle.
I opened an Bug for that problem with RedHat. This Bug Description also includes an proposal for an Patch which solves the problem (but may introduce some security risks). See the Bug at RedHat:

  • Issues in ssl configuration with apache server (using reverse proxy)

    Hi,
I am able to use apache server as a reverse proxy to connect to Portal. When I enter the web server url as https://mywebserver.com, I am able to connect to the http url of the Portal. But the moment I try to connect to the https url of Portal with this https url, I am not able to connect to the Portal. Thus I am not able to use apache as a proxy server for https connections it makes. What must I do. I read that mod_proxy_connect needs to be used, but how do I use this?
The second problem is that I need to use more than one kind of mapping.
For example I must be redirected to the Portal even if I use http://webserver.com , or even if I use https://webserver.com or even if I use http://webserver.com/irj or https://webserver.com/irj or http://ipaddress-websserver/irj etc

    I have SSLCertificateFile and
    and SSLCertificateKeyFile .
My problem is with regard to ssl/CertificateChainFile?
what is this? Also how do I upload my J2EE Certificate into apache.
The problem is with Apache handshake is not happening.
I am forwarding the entire log during . I have put what I consider important in bold. Please have a look.

  • [SOLVED] enable apache ssl to use httpS at will for any vhost

    Hi,
I have enabled ssl on my apache install without a problem by including the file httpd-ssl.conf in my http.conf.
I have tested access by trying to access my phpmyadmin install by going to my site: https://example.com/phpmyadmin
However, when trying to use a vhost with https, it doesn't work, I get redirected to a default page (first configured vhost) as https.
If I modify the vhost like this, adding 443:
    <VirtualHost *:80 *:443>
    </VirtualHost>
I get an error "(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)".
If I just add to the vhost config file instead like this:
    NameVirtualHost *:80
    NameVirtualHost *:443
    SSLStrictSNIVHostCheck off
then I still only get the default site, but not my vhost site under ssl.
Any pointers on getting this to work? I want to be able to universally add an "s" to "http" for any vhost whenever I feel like it to encrypt traffic...
    Thanks!
EDIT: Here's the solution I found. I disabled ssl on apache by commentingout the httpd-ssl.conf-Include directive in httpd.conf.
Then I installed stunnel and pointed it to my server key and certificate and enabling https connections to forward to port 80 on localhost.
One gotcha to look out for was to put "https: ALL" into the /etc/hosts.allow file as stunnel apparently uses this to decide whether a client can connect.

Apache is already listening on 443, otherwise it wouldn't work at all when I access https://example.com/phpmyadmin. My problem is that instead of responding by serving the requested vhost, apache serves only the default vhost page. For example, https://x.example.com, https://y.example.com, https://z.example.com all serve my default page at https://example.com instead of the corresponding vhost. Any idea as to what to configure so that apache serves the requested vhost under https?
    EDIT: clarification

  • Connected to Domain but can't log in using Actived Directory Credentials

Hey everyone.  I've been working on this issue for two weeks now, and I don't know what else to try.  I'm connected to my domain but cannot get my Macbooks to log in using Active Directory credenitals both through our wireless network, and hard wired with an ethernet cable.  The weird part about it is that it is not uniform all across our network.  This only happens to certain Macbooks and as of right now there doesn't seem to be a pattern.  I can say that it has happened to all new Macbook Pros that we have ordered lately though.
We use Jamf to manage our Macs on our network, and ever since upgrading to a new version (9.01 and now 9.1) we have had this issue.  However I can't connect after manually adding the domain either, so for now it makes me think it is not a Jamf issue.  Has anyone dealt with this issue before, that might know of a fix?  Thanks!

    Hi Burnettb1,
I have come across a similar issue as yours.  I have included the instructions that I use to bind the Mac at my institution.  In regards to wifi, I have not tried binding the Mac over wifi. Should you need to log in to a Mac with domain user credentials I would suggest to bind the Mac over ethernet.  Once you get to the:
*Click on triangle to the left of Show Advanced Options to expand"
portion of the instructions click on the Mappings tab and select the checkbox for creating a mobile account at login.  This will create a domain user profile on the machine that you can log into when not connected to the domain.
    Hope this helps.
    BIND iMac:
Login into iMac using administrative credentials
              Open System Preferences
                        *Goto Users & Groups
*Click on lock in lower left-hand corner
*Use same password used to log into iMac
                        *Click on Login Options
*Click on ‘Join...’ button right of "Network Account Server: "
*Click on ‘Open Directory Utility…’ button
*Click on lock in lower left-hand corner
*use same password used to log into iMac and click on Modify Configuration
                        *Double-click on Active Directory
      Active Directory Domain = domain
Computer ID = name of Mac
*Click on triangle to the left of Show Advanced Options to expand
                                  *Click on Administrative tab
                                  *Check  Prefer this domain server
Type  domainserver_ipaddr -or- servername.domain in this field
                                  *Click on ‘Bind…’ button
*When prompted for network administrator login
                                            username = [domain admin user]
                                            pwd = [domain user password]
*Click OK (Note: search path will be updating. Until completed the ‘OK’
    button will be greyed out
      *Click OK
*Click lock to lock and close window
*Click lock to lock and close window
    BIND CHECK:
*Search AD for added mac host - it should be there.
              Open Terminal app by either:
                        1)
                                  *Press command+spacebar
                                  *Type Terminal and select app
                        2)
                                  *Click on desktop
                                  *Press shift+command+A
*Goto Utilities folder located within Application folder (which you should
      be in) and open Terminal
*Once Terminal is opened type in id [domain username] and press return key.  The output should be
    some some network account information
*Close app by pressing command+Q and any other opened windows
              *Restart iMac
              *Log in

  • Oracle 9i/10G DB authentication using Active Directory (with out OID)

    Hello All,
We want to use a Single-Password authentication scheme using the Active
Directory as the primary source for userId/Password.
We don't want to use the Active Directory and OID bridge.
As we have many databases and would like to configure all Databases to use Active
Directory for Authentication. Our goal is to have single id/password across all
the databases and any user should be able to login from any computer using their
windows id/password, note that we don't want to use the OSAuthentication.
We have read the documents provided by oracle for authentication using Active
Directory, we were able to create Oracle Schema in Active Directory and were
also able to register a DB with Active Directory and then created user as global
user in Oracle Database and provided the DN of the user. When we tried
authenticate with all this setup it comes back and says invalid ID/Password !!!
And with 10G database we get the Oracle Error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel !!
Has any one tried or have information on Integrating Oracle to Auth against Active Directory?
    Envoirnment:
Oracle DB Version: 9.2.0 and also tried on 10.0.1 with same results
Operating System: Windows 2000/ Windows 2000 Server
Constraint: We don't want to user OID ( as we don't have license for this
    product ! )

I have a thread started similar to your request.
    OS Authenication on Windows
Somewhere I read this. It works on Oracle 9i on Linux, but I have not tried it with Oracle 9i on Windows.
    SHOW PARAMETER OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX;
    SHOW PARAMETER REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT;
    CREATE USER OPS$SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    GRANT CREATE SESSION TO OPS$SOMEUSER;
For the username, I wonder if we are supposed to put the Windows Domain name as part of the username? Such as, for a Windows domain user MyDomain\SomeUser
    CREATE USER OPS$MYDOMAIN\SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
I really wish Oracle or somebody created a guide or book on how to do this.

  • I am trying connect to a SQL instance for our CRM program and I am receiving To Connect to this Server you must use SQL Management Studio or SQL Server Management

I am trying connect to a SQL instance for our CRM program and I am receiving To Connect to this Server you must use SQL Management Studio or SQL Server Management
This is a Brand new Server 2012 that is running our CRM product and it is trying to connect to a Server 2008 R2 server with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 instance (10.50.4000)
I have seen this in the past where it needed the 2005 backwards compatibility components installed but those are not supported on 2012 server and this is not a 2005 SQL instance.
I am trying to install the Shared Management Objects for SQL Server 2008 but it tells me I need to install the CLR types, which I did install. But it continues to tell me to install the CLR types.
Has anyone ran into any issues like this? (this happens trying to connect to multiple SQL Servers from this new 2012 Server)
    Thanks!
    -Max

    Hello,
Which version and edition of the SQL Server instance did you installed on the new server machine?  If you install SQL Server 2012 Express edition, you can try to install SQL Server Management Studio 2012 from
    this link.
You can connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 or earily verions with SSMS 2012.
What's more, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects Collection requires Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0, Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, and Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types. You can try to download and install
    SQL Serve 2008 Feature Pack
    which contains packages above.

I can't set up gmail in my iPad 2. Keep on saying ' can't connect with SSL and ask me whether to connect without using SSL, then I press 'yes' and it said again IMAP is not working and tell me to see network connection and incoming mail server. No idea how to do anymore. Already tried to figure out. But not work. Can anyone pls help me?

Nope, doesn't pass verification. I get the spinner for a minute or so, then the alert about setting it up without SSL. Are you suggesting I disable Fetch and Push BEFORE I enter the account details? Because I never get past the account details screen, unless I choose "Set up without SSL" after the warning.
