  • Oracle Gateway Not Connecting to Sybase database

    Hi,
    I'm trying to setup an oracle gateway to connect to Sybase database. I followed in details the instructions but still can connect successfully. The Oracle database is in RAC environment. Below are the steps I took:
    The oracle gateway and oracle database are in the same server while Sybase is on a separate unix box.
    1. create an initdg4sybs.ora file
    # This is a customized agent init file that contains the HS parameters
    # that are needed for the Database Gateway for Sybase
    # HS init parameters
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=[999.99.108.99]:4527/common ## IP address of sybase server
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=ON
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
    2. create a listener on the oracle gateway home
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: /u03/app/oracle/gateway/11.2/network/admin/listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    4. create database link
    create database link dg4sybs connect to "user" identified by "password" using 'dg4sybs'
    5. when testing the connection; i'm getting below error message. tried all the setup based my research and couldn't make it work.

  • Unable to connect to Sybase databases in EPM V11

    Hello,
    I have installed EPM 11 on a linux rel 5 x64 machine and able to connect to Oracle dbs but having problems with sybase databases. Checked the odbc.ini that it is pointing to the right files. I have tried to start, stop and restart the Data access service, defined using ODBC and Sybase System but nothing seems to help.
    I get the folling error in html and the 2018 error in the IR web client.
    An Interactive Reporting Service error has occurred.-Failed to acquire requested service.
    Error Code: 2001
    The Oracle db connections seemed to be fine. Sybase connections using isql are fine.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shrinath

    I had that problem for almost a year, both with a Linksys router and with a Netgear router.  Finally purchased a Belkin router (the N1 Vision, which we absolutely love!) and have not had the problem one single time since - in over 3 months.  I did a lot of reading on the Linksys and Netgear forums and found that a lot of people were having the same problem.  I have a new problem though, about 2 months ago my TouchSmart began to tell me I don't have a wireless network adapter installed - I typically have to reboot it anywhere from 7-13 times before it will recognize it.  Any ideas or similar problems with that situation?

  • Keep alive sybase database connection

    Hi,
    How we can keep connections alive. In our application we are using java as frond-end and making connection to sybase database server using jconnect. We are firing big queries which took generally more than two hours to run. But firewall drops the connection which are ideal for more than 1 hour.
    So, is there any way out to keep those connections alive.
    Thanks in advance.

    You shouldn't be attempting to run a job that takes that long. Googling certainly suggests that Sybase supports scheduled jobs.
    That suggests the following
    1. Create a job queue (table)
    2. Create a scheduled task to process tasks in the job queue.
    3. Modify your app to put a task in the job queue.
    4. Modify your app to query for a complete job at some reasonable interval (like minutes.)
    And you might look further at the design and requirements for that matter. For example there is no point in running a 2 hour job 15 times a day that returns the same results because 15 people want the same results. Instead run the job once at midnight and keep the results and return those each time for the 15 requests.
    Even if the jobs are different sometimes the data can be munged in a nightly process to make it more efficient. For example create a summary for each account. Then a sales report for a specific sale rep just collects the existing summaries rather than summerizing it each time.

  • Run a java class in Oracle db to connect to Sybase

    Hi All, I'm looking for a way to connect to Sybase database at no-license-cost (meaning Oracle Gateway or similar 3rd party products), first coming idea was JDBC, I know I can run a java class in Oracle, the simple idea is to write a java class which connects to Sybase via JDBC thin driver and return the resultset of given query in a java class, the resultset will be presented in Oracle Apex framework.  Does anyone know if this can be done or not, and how?  Any howto articles are welcomed.
    Henry

    Henry:
    To connect to Sysbase or MsSQL Server you could use jTDS open source driver.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtds/
    upload above driver (jar file) using loadjava, and grants the port connection using dbms_java.grant_permission procedure.
    Because jTDS is pure java driver (mode 4) is possible to use directly inside the RDBMS.
    Best regards, Marcelo.
    PD: Latest jtds driver is compiled against 1.6 sources, but oldest version will work with 1.5 for 11g.

  • JDBC query with Sybase database

    Hi Folks,
    I am working with Oracle 9i Reports Builder connecting to Sybase database using jdbc-odbc driver type.
    I could connect to the database, use a simple query and generate reports.
    Problem is only when, I use a variable in WHERE clause and have
    1. group functions in SELECT statements (i.e. sum(), count()..)
    2. NOT IN operations in one of conditions
    Error message was thrown saying "Incorrect Syntax near ':.' "
    (I declare a variable in USER PARAMETER and use the same in WHERE clause by refering say "where trandate=:m_trandate".)
    Though there is no syntax error AT ALL. Am very sure about it, because when I execute the same statement in "isql" , it works perfectly.
    Can anyone, let me know whether Is it a limitation on Report Builder with Sybase db or Is any configuration do I miss??
    Also, let me know if there is any work around process to handle this situation.
    Sample Query I tried :
    select item, avg(rate) from inventory
    where item=:mitem /* mitem is a variable */
    group by item
    Any information is welcome.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Sachin,
    I too, got through the issue. Sorry am bit late in updating you. But still I would say it is not on consistent(my feedback as per I grabbed from the behavior. Say, I accepted the query in a particular order of WHERE clause, then If I change the order it will throw an error message saying "Incorrect syntax".)
    Anyway working fine. Thanks for your immediate response with useful hints.
    Rgds
    Anand
    Hi Anand,
    Yes, JDBCPDS accepts all Select queries which follows SQL Specification.
    It would be a valid query as per the database used.
    Please try again, Bind parameters can be placed in any or all of the conditions of SQL Query in JDBCPDS.
    I am able to use them in both the cases you told.
    With Regards
    Reports team

  • Trying to connect to Sybase with Java jdbc

    Hoping someone can help me to connect to Sybase database (version is Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5.3). I am using a technique I read that worked with Access and adapting by some examples for Syabase I found on the web but keep getting errors. Below is my code with some of the examples Ive been using commented out.
    I have created a DSN on my Windows Xp o/s named GPTS_SYBASE via ODBC Use DSN set-up wizard, driver is Sybase ASE ODBC Driver.
    import java.sql.*;
    public class DBConn {
    public DBConn(){
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    //Class.forName("com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver.class.getname()");
    //Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Class.forName("com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver");
    String sourceURL = "jdbc.odbc.GPTS_SYBASE";
    //String sourceURL = "jdbc.sybase.Tds:GPTSPSYB1:5000/gpts";
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(sourceURL, "gptsdbo", "gptsdbo");
    //Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(sourceURL);
    System.out.println("Success");
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println("Got an excpetion! ");
    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    Error message from this code is
    Got an excpetion!
    com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver

    Have you read the Sybase docs or the Java JDBC docs? ODBC != JDBC. They sound the same but are totally different. The DSN is totally irrelevant for type 4 JDBC drivers.
    It would help to actually print the stack trace by changing your code to:
    catch (Exception e) {
        System.err.println("Got an excpetion! ");
        e.printStackTrace();
    }Also, you're mixing the wrong class name with the URL. You need "com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver" and, in your case jdbc:sybase:Tds:GPTSPSYB1:5000/gpts - note the change to colons, not periods! - when in doubt read the docs!

  • 10g Form Developer Quits on compiling Forms connected to Sybase tables.

    Dear Experts,
    We have configured the connectivity for Sybase database with our oracle 9i database. using Hetero Geneous Service i.e using System_dsn ..etc.
    On this Sybase connectivity 6i Forms are compiling and running successfully But with 10g Forms while compling it just close the 10g form developer.
    For example....!
    In 6i forms On Button Press trigger below insert command works perfectly.
    But In 10g forms it say nothing and Just Quit.
    begin
    insert into *"sybase_table"@SYBASE_DSN_DBLINK*
    ("colum1","colum2")
    values
    ('value1','value2');
    commit;
    end;
    Please help to resolve this problem.
    Thanks
    Eidy

    Hello,
    1.) does it with with the forms compiler (frmcmp)?
    2.) did you try creating a synonym for your object:
    create synonym my_syn for sybase_table@SYBASE_DSN_DBLINK;and use this synonym?
    3.) Did you try it with the latest patchsets if you didn't apply them (10.1.2.3 for forms)?
    4.) Did you try it with another database version (9i reached sustaining support btw. so you might try it with e.g. 10.2)?
    5.) If everything fails you can put your logic in a database procedure and use that?

    I have never tried to connect to Sybase data before and I am having difficulty figuring out how.  I am using CR XIR2 from my desktop and trying to connect to what I am told is a Sybase database (voicemail system).  I believe Sybase vers 12.5, but not entirely sure yet.  Postings on the forum and other sites appear to be directed toward sdk developers or other development and were not helpful.  Most of what I am reading points toward an Adaptive Server® Enterprise (ASE) ODBC Driver by Sybase.  However, I was told that was not true but the person promising to forward the information never came through. Are there additional drivers I need to install or can someone point me in the right direction?  Thanks!

    Hi Wendy,
    32-bit NATIVE DRIVERS
    CRDB_P2SSYB10.DLL is the native driver for Sybase ASE.  It is used with Sybase ASE 12.5
    NOTE:  The native driver for Sybase ASE cannot be used to connect to Sybase ASA (Adaptive Server Anywhere) or Sybase ASIQ (Adaptive Server IQ).  Sybase ASA and Sybase ASIQ include their own ODBC drivers as part of their installation package.  These drivers provide the only means of connecting to Sybase ASA and Sybase ASIQ databases.
    I hope this helps you.

  • How to connect sybase database in JDeveloper 11g using JConnect

    Hi
    How to connect sybase database in JDeveloper 11g using JConnect? Please help.

    User,
    It would help if you explained Sybase Jconnect instead of leaving us to google.
    At any rate, it appears you need to create a library definition in JDeveloper, add the appropriate JConnect JAR files to the library's classpath, and then add the library to your project.

  • Connecting JDeveloper to sybase database

    I'm trying to connect my JDeveloper to a sybase database server instead of an oracle database server. I first wanted to know if it's possible and second what do i need to put in the connection parameters. I have installed the sybase client on my machine and here are the contents of the sql.ini file
    ------------------------------sql.ini
    [SDSYBASE]
    master=NLWNSCK,sd-sybase,5003
    query=NLWNSCK,sd-sybase,5003
    Should i choose third party JDBC driver as a connection type and if so what about the driver class where can i get it from.
    Please if anyone can help i would appreciate it a lot.

    guys i figured it out. for those of you who will face the same problem here is what i did.
    1) add the following file jtds-1.2.2.jar to C:\JDeveloper\jdbc\lib directory. download the jar file from sourceforge.
    2) Click on new database connection and put in your connection name and select Third party JDBC driver from the Connection type drop down
    3) put in the username and password of the database you want to connect to
    4) Step 3 of 4 click new on the driver class
    in the driver class put net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver
    in the library Jtds-1.2.2.jar
    in the classpath C:\JDeveloper\jdbc\lib\jtds-1.2.2.jar
    click on OK
    in the URL put jdbc:jtds:sybase://<hostname>:<port>/db_name
    test your connection and it should work.

  • Connecting OpenScript Database Testing Module to a Sybase database

    All,
    I am trying to connect ATS Database Testing Module to a local Sybase database. I created a User DSN using the ODBC Data Source Administrator and this connects OK.
    I then configured an OpenScript ODBC Database Definition and this also connects OK. However when I try to execute a very simple SQL statement:
    select * from sysusers
    I get:
    Failed to execute SQL statement: SQLException occured. [Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]SYSUSERS not found. Specify owner.objectname or use sp_help to check whether the object exists (sp_help may produce lots of output). Caused by: SQLException occured. [Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]SYSUSERS not found. Specify owner.objectname or use sp_help to check whether the object exists (sp_help may produce lots of output)

  • Sybase Database connection problem

    Hi!!
    I am trying to connect to Sybase datbase which is on my local disk by followin code...during the execution I am getting the run time error :java.sql.SQLException:JZ006: caught IOException:java.net.ConnectException :Connection refused : connect
    the name of computer is compaq1 and I am confused about the port number..so anybody can please help me regarding which port i should use or atleast where can i find it
    import java.sql.*;
    //import jconnect4_2.classes.com.sybase.jdbc.*;
    public class myConnection {
    public static void main( String[] args ) {
    try {
              System.out.println("Abcd0");
    // Using Sybase jConnect 4.2
    Class.forName("com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver");
    // Using Sybase jConnect 5.2
    //Class.forName("com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver");
    System.out.println("Abcd");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sybase:Tds:compaq1:3306", "dba", "sql");
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement( );
    /*ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM ");
    while ( rs.next( ) ) {
    System.out.println( rs.getInt( 1 ) );
    } catch ( Exception e ) {
    System.out.println( "An exception occurred."+e );
    } // end of main
    } // end of MyConnection class

    It sounds like you're running a Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere server on compaq1. If this is the case, then try this:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class myConnection {
    public static void main( String[] args ) {
    try {
    String url = "jdbc:sybase:Tds:compaq1:2638";
    String uid = "dba";
    String pwd = "sql";
    Class.forName("com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url,uid,pwd);
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement( );
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM SOME_TABLE");
    int rowInt = 0;
    while ( rs.next( ) ) {
    System.out.println("Row # "+rowInt );
    ++rowInt;
    } catch ( Exception e ) {
    System.out.println( "An exception occurred."+e );
    } // end of main
    } // end of MyConnection class
    --- If you get any errors, it is probably in the url String because you will require an IP address where we put "compaq1". If you are running the server on the same machine that you are executing the code, then write this instead: --
    String url = "jdbc:sybase:Tds:127.0.0.1:2638";

  • Sybase Database connection Issues

    Hi,
    I am new to Java programming and am trying to connect to sybase using jdbc.I want to know the following details:
    1) How can i get the driver information?
    2) How can i get the DB information? (The URL format with port,ip address, etc.,) I have the program and syntax, but i am not able to get these 2 info.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Selvi.

    To be honest I have not worked with Sybase.
    There should be an explanation on how to install and configure the Sybase driver in the zip file.
    Your problem is most likely a classpath problem.
    For example with the MySQL driver I had to unzip the files and copy the mysql-connector-java-3.0.6-stable-bin.jar file to the java installation directory C:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\jre\lib\ext.
