Consistent Connection

Hi All,
I am developing a SW with 10g Forms which would be Deployed with
Oracle application Server 10g(10.1.2.0).
The DataBase server and The application server are on a LAN, The connection between these two is consistent and stable.
But The Application Users are there on a remote site connecting to the application server via dial up Connection. The handsheck in this connection is not consistent at all, it breaks now and then.At each breaking i need to relogin in to the application from the remote user's workstation.
If there is any way i could rebuild the connection automatically with out any user intervention .
Please help me out

No. When the connection is broken the session is terminated. Forms was not designed to operate over an unreliable connection.

  • Hp laserjet Pro 200 M276nw won't consistently connect wirelessly with iMac

I'm on my second brand new hp laserjet Pro 200 M276nw in 3 days, it will not consistently connect wirelessly with my newly purchased (8days old) Apple refurbished 27" iMac on OSX 10.9, i7 chip & Fusion Drive.  The hp laserjet will sometimes connect wirelessly immediately after clicking "print" on the iMac, but about half the time it says "printer not connected" & takes 2-4 minutes (or longer) before the devices do connect. I've called hp support many times, they're reset various things via remote takeover of my iMac, the printer will work for a few of minutes but then the same problem returns. AppleCare made sure I have the
correct Airprint driver installed & also checked my settings, but says they don't know why this is occurring. I've also verified that our newer (6 months old) AT&T router is functioning correctly.
My older hp laserjet (CM1312nfi MFP) has worked flawlessly since 2009 via USB connection with my old iMac (still on Snow Leopard), I assumed it would continue with the new one, but there is no software update for Mavericks & the scanning feature won't operate on the new iMac. Hp says it is a discontinued model. The new hp laserjet is a successor model to the older one, they are both very similar except for the new wireless feature.
I can print fast & wirelessly from the new iMac via a different new hp inkjet printer (8600 series) here in the house. This inkjet printer is less than a month old, I installed it myself for a Windows laptop here, it has never malfunctioned.  Unfortunately it's upstairs & I do not like inkjet print quality, I need a good laserjet here in my office downstairs next to my iMac.

    HI there
Did you manage to sort this issue out - as I have exactly the same problem.
Lots of similarities as I also have an inkjet 8600 which works via USB and wirelessly no problems at all!
I always  buy HP printers as they are usually easy to set up - but this one is making me tear my hair out!
I've even upgraded to Yosemite and downloaded the new drivers from HP - no success.  The printer will print one page and then become unavailable.
I can print via USB or wireless direct - but not just via my wireless network which is what I want to do!
No responses posted - so assume no one has a fix.
    aaaargh!!!

  • I cannot maintain a consistent connection with Verizon DSL

I have had my DSL since May (when i purchased my mac) and cannot keep a consistent connection to the internet. Surfing the internet is not the problem (though I do get "your computer is not connected to the internet" messages frequently) The real problem is with downloads. Mainly, I can't download. I have had 3 apple updates that i have needed to download for the past month and i cannot keep the connection to my DSL to get them. I have phoned Verizon who says that i am connected, my modem is fine and so is my phone line. I have changed the ethernet cable. Apple support is always closed when i am home and actually in front of my computer. Has anyone else experienced this with Verizon DSL and conquered it?
    Thanks.

I would suspect the modem. Has Verizon been out to check it? They should also check your phone line. You shouldn't be paying for service you don't get. I think you need to complain loudly, get a case number and work it out with them that you are not paying for service you're not getting.

  • Mac Pro does not stay consistently connected to internet

Okay, I will try to be as detailed as possible...
I recently moved and had a new internet connection set up. The company replaced the modem and router I previously had (against my will) with their modem/wireless router combo. My Mac Pro has a wired connection, while all other devices (iPods, iPhones, PC laptop, etc.) in my home are wireless. The wireless devices all work consistently fine, however, the Mac does not. Typically, while having network diagnostics open, I reset the modem and everything is fine. After a few minutes, or after closing diagnostics, it no longer works again. Today, even after restarting the modem and getting all green lights, it doesn't seem to connect at all.
I have Windows installed under boot camp and the connection there works perfectly fine. This tells me there is an issue within my OSX settings, and not the equipment or connection. After learning this, my cable company's tech support basically told me to get lost and contact Apple. Though I'm paying them an obsene amount of money for crappy internet service, they really could care less about ensuring that their products at least work with their customers' equipment (they even told me they're tech support is unfamiliar with OSX).
I'm guessing something in my network settings is causing this, but I don't have enough in-depth knowledge about this particular subject to troubleshoot it myself. I'm desperate for a good samaritan to help as my business can no longer operate until I have working internet access.
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Disable the router function in the modem they provided and you can continue to use yours.
Modems, esp. cable, you may be able to return it.
There may be a list of modems that are compatible on their service - even some that aren't listed will be like SB6121.
And are you paying a monthly fee for their modem?
Others have "commented on" the Mac Pro not negotiating as well. But it was when you used your own router, right ?
    I am totally sold on
    having modem and router separate
Netgear routers - got the WNDR3400v2 last year and thinking about the next level, the R6300 probably this fall. I can even configure and monitor from iPad, iPhone, Android and their desktop app (Win and Mac).
I wonder if like my ISP they have a support forum, I'd be lost w/o. They can check the modem remote login and see what the modem is logging (over my head).
Had some odd electrial spike - 3x in a minute going onto UPS but not an outage. Spikes? left their modem 50% function and semi-crippled. I had to reset modem or it would reset itself I should say every 5-10 minutes at times. ISP could not tell until they got there. Then they found the modem was unable to connect to their activation page and had to replace it and the drop point on the telephone pole 70 ft away.
I now keep a spare modem of my own (SB6121) and continue to use theirs, Cisco.
You do have the ability to use your router, just not double-NAT is all.

  • Time Capsule 4th Gen with 2 AE's to extend wireless has no consistent connection

I have a Time Capsule 4th Gen & 2 Airport Express (A1264) devices used for extending the wireless range - all on v7.6.4. The network setup is a u-verse modem that goes to a Cisco 8 port router, that has one ethernet line to the Time Capsule, one ethernet line goes to one of the AE's, another ethernet line to another 5 port router and an AE connected to it, and the remaining ethernet lines are to hardwire different rooms in the house.
The goal is to have the most robust wireless network I can create for the house that has, 4 iphones, 5 ipad's, 4 mac's, 2 pc's and a few other wirelesss devices. I also have an AT&T wireless Microcell (not sure if relevant). The issue revolves mostly around really poor wireless performance on iphones and iPad's they just take foreever to load pages and in many cases I need to do things like turn off wireless, forget the network, restart, airplane mode and such to get it connected. I've tried multiple configurations, and the performance is not consistent.
My understanding is that the AE's connected to ethernet on the home network can extend the TC's range and make the movement of mobile wireless devices throughout the house seemless. Is this setup doable or am I just not going to get this with the current configs.
TC setup, DHCP to u-verse gateway, Network Mode set to Create... ., WPA2 Personal, 2.4 channel 9, off bridge mode, timed access control enabled
AE1 setup, DHCP to u-verse gateway, Network Mode set to Create... ., WPA2 Personal, 2.4 channel 5, off bridge mode, timed access control enabled
AE2 setup, DHCP to u-verse gateway, Network Mode set to Create... ., WPA2 Personal, 2.4 channel 7, off bridge mode, timed access control enabled
Really appreciate any advice or tips on improving this setup. Thanks!

My understanding is that the AE's connected to ethernet on the home network can extend the TC's range and make the movement of mobile wireless devices throughout the house seemless.
This is generally true if you are using Mac laptops, but PCs and mobile devices using the iOS systems like the iPhone and iPad will not usually automatically "switch" from one wireless access point to another as the device moves from one area to another.
That's a nature of the beast of the iOS system, I am afraid.
Usually, if you move the iOS device from one area to another, you willl need to turn off the WiFi on the device, then turn it back it on. Then, it will usually pick up the stronger signal from the closest wireless access point.
Sometimes, if I move an iPhone or iPad from one area to another in a multiple access point network, the iOS device will switch over to the stronger signal after a few minutes.
I haven't installed iOS 7 yet, so can't comment on whether it might be better in this regard, but I would be surprised if it was.

  • Failure to consistently connect to network.

I have several MacBooks, iPhones, Apple TV's and a couple of other devices all connecting to my home network.  I just purchased two new Airport Extremes and an Airport Express.  They are all hardwired to a time capsule that is connected to my cable modem.  They run in bridge mode.  Everything has been working very well except my personal MacBook Air will fail to connect to the network every few days.  I get an exclamation mark in the little wireless icon on top of screen.  I usually reset the modem and Time Capsule.  After several minutes to several hours it is once again able to connect.  I try renewing the lease and this doesn't work.  I've read about having fixed ID's on each device but have not found a clear way to accomplish this.  Not sure why this is the only thing connecting to my network that often fails.  Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hey Brendan,
Thanks for the question. You may have already exhausted all of your resources for troubleshooting this issue, however I wanted to present them just in case. In my experience, most Wi-Fi connectivity issues can be resolved by the following:

  • My iMac running OS X 10.7.5 does not consistently connect to my wifi automatically

This is a recent problem and occurred prior to the update to 10.7.5. If it does not connect, then I have to click on the wifi symbol and wait for my network to appear.  When I click on my network, all is well.  If I boot into safe mode, I always connect to my network automatically as I used to during normal boots.
I did not install any new third party software prior to this problem occuring. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

  • MacBook Pro drops Wi-Fi connection after upgrading to 10.6.5. Fixed!

MacBook Pro drops Wi-Fi connection after upgrading to 10.6.5. Airport says no IP is detected then suddenly reconnects?
This has been a problem I’ve been troubleshooting for the last month. I’m new to the Mac family and have loved my experience up until this point. I was under the impression that mac’s are supposed to be so user friendly that even your grandmother could use one with out having any technical knowledge. I mean I shouldn’t have to be deleting drivers or reformat my mac because of an OS update glitch? (That’s what the guy at the Genius Bar told me to do.) What I refused to succumb to was that I’m really good with computers. I get at least a phone call every other week from someone asking me for tech support. So I’d like to think that nothing I’ve done to the system would have caused this anomaly.
After numerous attempts of troubleshooting and researching forms I believe I’ve discovered a solutions that seems to be working for me.
Here are the steps I took to create a consistent connection to my Wi-Fi. I believe it was a combination of all these steps to create success.
1.) Changed my router to use G Wireless Only. (I’m assuming this removed any unnecessary frequencies to allow G to broadcast stronger?)
2.) Did a scan on the other networks in my area to find out what channel everyone else was broadcasting on. Copy and past the text below into a terminal window.
    sudo ln -s /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resourc es/airport /usr/sbin/airport
This will allow you to simply type “airport” in the terminal window to execute the command.
    Type airport –s
This will display all the networks in your area and what channel they are broadcasting on.
3.) Changed my router to use a channel that no one in my area was using. (This helped to make my network stronger and free of interference.)
The last steps will help your home network improve but these next steps I believe helped fix any install errors caused maybe by the 10.6.5 update on my mac.
4.) Boot your Mac into safe mode by holding down the shift key while booting.
5.) Open System Preferences and Click on Network.
6.) Click the drop down menu from Locations at the top of the screen. Click edit locations..
7.) Create a new location by clicking the + and give it a new name.
8.) Delete the old location by clicking on the old locations name and click the – to remove.
    9.) Reboot
10.) Open System Preference and click on Network.
11.) Click on the settings sprocket next to the + and – and click on Set Service Order…
12.) Drag Airport to the top of the list of devices then click Ok.
Now this last step is what seemed to eliminate the issue. I hardcoded my IP address to my network. This way my computer will always use the same IP and not have to search.
13.) Click on Advanced under Network.
14.) Click on TCP/IP. Click on the drop down for Configure IPv4 and change it to Manually.
15.) Fill out the fields with your IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.1xx (x=whatever number) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.1.1 (All of these settings are pretty standard for most home networks.)
16.) Click on the drop down for Configure IPv6 and change it to Off.
17.) Next click on the DNS tab at the top.
18.) Click the + to add a DNS Record.
To find your DNS Server open a Terminal window by launching Applications --> Utilities --> Terminal
    Then Type cat /etc/resolv.conf
(There is a space between cat and /. Without it you’ll get no such file or directory.)
This should return two addresses. Your ISP’s DNS Servers.
19.) Add both records to the DNS and click Ok.
20.) Click Ok then under Network Click Ok.
    21.) Reboot router then Mac
    22.) Fixed my connection issue
The symptoms I experienced eluded me to believe that something with the DHCP is going into an idle then disconnecting. Before when DHCP was set to automatically assign the network signal would time out then searchers for a new IP resulting in Airport displaying No IP is detected. By setting my IP to a fixed address I still notice a slight drop in bandwidth at moments but because of the assigned IP I never loose connection. I can now stream video, play games, chat all without getting disconnected.
I believe this fix will work for my home network but I also noticed this issue at work so for each location that I connect for the time being I’ll create each there own location and hardcode the IP address to that network. I’ve been reading that 10.6.6 is coming soon so maybe this will be resolved for good in the next update.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any questions.
    Best of luck.

I have been having the same issue for the last two weeks. No real indication as to why it ever began other than I had turned off my router and Airport Extreme Base Station off for a weekend while I was away from my place.
iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, all have no issues at all with my Airport Extreme Base Station. Can stay connected throughout my living room, bathroom, bedroom, no issues whatsoever.
My 5 month old MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Core i7 Airport is sometimes perfect, able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue. Then, for no reason, I won't be able to join my wireless network, or when I can join, I can't pick up an IP address. And then it will connect, pick up and IP, and then it won't browse. No real rhyme or reason to when this will happen, or when it works.
I thought that it was an issue with my MacBook Pro, but then my sister visited with her brand new MacBook Pro 2.26 Intel Core 2 Duo, and while a month ago she was able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue, this weekend she had all of the same issues I was having.
My XBOX 360 and MacBook Pro have absolutely no issues with the wired connection. Only my WAN seems to have this issue.
Did you ever find anything more to this?

  • Problems connecting MacBook Pro to Apple TV

not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but my macbook pro won't connect to my apple tv via airplay anymore. My college has really spotty wifi and it's extremely selective sometimes (one time it wouldn't let me log into the site that i put in my schedule for work, it just kept refreshing the site after i would hit submit) so i'm not sure if this is a software problem or if its my wifi. I can still connect on my iphone just not my laptop.

That would be a wifi issue, mirroring requires a lot more resources from the network and will need a stable/consistent connection. There would likely be a lot of other activity occurring as well so that will impact performance.

  • Setting up USB disks connected to Airport Extreme

I took two different USB drives, formatted one drive with two partitions of Mac OS Extended (journaled) and the other drive formatted NTFS. After attaching the drives to the AE, I established how I wanted to share the devices and set up accounts to access the devices. My intention was to use these drives to backup my devices but have since learned that Time Machine does not support this (stupid and disappointing).
When I log in from my Mac, I see the one drive with two partitions, but I also see a drive with my account name. Performing a "Get Info" on the drives now show their format as AppleShare. What feature did I invoke that automatically established a "third" drive? Where is it established on the physically formatted Mac drive? Does the format of Appleshare just indicate how the partition is accessed?
The other account, established for a Windows machine, does not see the NTFS drive, but when logging in to the AE also has a drive mapped with the name of the account. I also cannot consistently connect to this drive as the airport utility does not display the drive in the system tray. The airport utility doesn't see the AE, yet this Windows device can print just fine to the printers attached to the AE.
I'm dazed and confused. Can anyone explain what is going on? Thanks.

The USB port on the AirPort Extreme will support drive formats of Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and FAT32. NTFS is not supported, so that might explain some of your difficulties.
What feature did I invoke that automatically established a "third" drive? Where is it established on the physically formatted Mac drive? Does the format of Appleshare just indicate how the partition is accessed?
Not sure about this. When I format a drive as Mac OS or FAT 32, I see a single drive when accessed from the Finder.

  • Anyone else lose bluetooth connection with car radio since updating to IOS 6?

I've lost consistent connection between my iPhone 4S and car radio (Kenwood) ever since I upgraded to IOS 6.  This is apparantly happening to lots of people. I use this bluetooth for hands-free calling on my phone so I'm hoping Apple will come out with IOS 6.1 soon to address this software patch.  Others experiencing this with their phones and car stereo systems?

    Hi Carlman,
I'd like to help you obtain a more consistent  connection. I feel that disabling the IPv6 would help us accomplish this. Please use the instructions in the following post to enable only the IPv4.
Re: Office Jet Pro 8600 N911a printer
The IPv6 often times causes interference with the IPv4, thus I believe this should resolve the issue.
Please let me know if it does or does not, thanks.

  • Cannot automatically connect to wi-fi after restart

    Hi all,
I just set up my E1200 router to my PC running Windows 7 and it works perfectly in my house, except that after I restart or power off my computer, I have to manually reconnect to my wi-fi network everytime and re-enter my password. The check box next to "Connect automatically when this network is in range" is definitely selected. Is there a setting in the advanced settings of Cisco Connect that could be causing this?
The PC in question is the computer which has Cisco Connect installed in it. I've been connecting to my wi-fi network without interruption with my iPhone, FWIW.
    Thank you!

I noticed that it takes a few seconds longer to reconnect to wi-fi after sleep, but it has consistently connected.

  • Re: Can't Connect: Connection Timeout?

What could be the possible reason for getting "connection timeout" after failing to connect to the internet? After going to Network Prefs, clicking on my network, being prompted for my WPA security password and getting the message "connection failed, " this is replaced with connection timeout?
Reset my modem and AEBS (unplugged and plugged back in), and was able to connect.
Any relation to whether or not, under the Airport tab of Network Prefs, "Disconnect from wireless networks when logging out" is checked or not? I don't have it checked, and don't remember having it checked, but someone on the Airport Discussion boards said it should be checked?
What other possible reasons fro getting a connection timeout? MY ISP says there is nothing from their side that would timeout my connection.

After reading this entire thread, I conclude that I am having the same problems. Here's what I'm seeing:
    * The problem only happens when using WPA; switching my WAP to WEP or no security makes all my Mac's consistently connect just fine.
    * When the problem occurs, I am prompted for the WPA password; when I type in the password and click "connect", it alternates between "Connection timeout" and "Invalid password" (I'm positive that the password is correct; it's short, simple, and I'm using the "show password" checkbox to verify that it's correct).
    * My Intel 10.5.2 MBP usually connects ok (airport card -- 802.11b/g).
    * My PPC 10.5.2 iMac usually connects ok (airport card -- 802.11b/g, sometimes it asks for the WPA password once even though it's stored in my keychain).
    * My Intel 10.5.2 24" iMac rarely connects ok (airport extreme card -- 802.11b/g/n, with the symptoms above).
    * Windows laptops connect just fine.
    * There seem to be several different WAPs discussed on this thread; I'm wondering if there is some kind of WPA protocol issue in 10.5.2 because I can consistently WPA connect just fine to a Linksys WRT54GL, but I see the symptoms described above with Cisco Aironet 1131AG's.
To reiterate: the problem most consistently occurs on an Intel iMac with an airport extreme card with OS X 10.5.2 when connecting to my Cisco Aironet 1131AG when WPA is enabled. It definitely does not occur when WEP or no wireless security is enabled. It rarely happens with a PPC iMac and an Intel MBP, both with OS X 10.5.2 and airport cards (regardless of network security settings and WAP used).

  • Older MacBook connects to guest netowrk, but not main

I recently set up a home network with the newest model Airport Extreme. I've set it up with a home network, as well as a guest network. It has been working flawlessly, with one exception. My older MacBook (3yrs old, white) had been connecting to my my home network, but starting a couple days ago, it began refusing to connect. I can still connect fine to my guest network, but the whole point of me buying this whole set up was to use the older MacBook as a media server for the rest of my home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

LOST_Island, welcome to the discussion area?
Have you checked the Connection List for the MacBook to make sure that the name of your main network appears first in the list of wireless connections?
System Preferences (gear icon on dock)
    Open Network
Click AirPort on the left to highlight it
Click Advanced at the lower right
Make sure that the name of your main network is at the top of the connection list. Drag it to the top if needed.
    Click OK, then click Apply
If no help, can you tell us what happens if you temporarily turn off the Guest network on the AirPort Extreme? Will the MacBook consistently connect to your main network this way?
    AirPort Utility - Manual Setup
    Click the Guest Network tab
Remove the check mark next to Enable Guest Network
Click Update at the lower right and let the AirPort Extreme restart
You really should not use the Guest network unless you have "guests" because it does pull some bandwidth away from the main network.
