Console port on ASR1000 not accessible?

HI
I have two ASR 1000 and I am not able to console into them. I have tested my console cable by connecting it to a 7206 and it works 100%. When connecting it to the ASR I am not receiving any output.
I have restated bot of the ASR’s and I experience exactly the same problem on both. Do I need a different console cable for a ASR than for a 7206 perhaps?
Thanks
Willem

So the console must be ok;
and be sure you connect the right console port of ASR 1000.
I hope this can help you:)

  • PC connect to admin console (port 7001) but not soa_server1 (port 8001)

    Hello All,
I installed weblogic (11.1.1.4) and SOA suite on an Oracle Linux machine and I can access both the admin server and soa_server1 server from the host machine, but when trying to access from my PC I can only connect to the admin server on port 7001. The soa_server1 connection is refused from my PC.
Is there a setting I need in order to open up port 8001 to workstations other than the host machine?
    Thanks,
    John

OK, I already found the solution after reading the release notes for fusion middleware.
I has specified the "Listen Address" as the the server name. This restricted access to soa_server1 from the host machine. I fixed this my changing the "Listen Address" to a blank and re-starting soa_server1. Now I can access the SOA server from outside the host machine, as is required for PIP.

  • Firewall port open but not accessible

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to open port 587 in OSX server 10.3.9. I've gone to 'Firewall --> Settings --> Advanced', clicked on the 'add' key and set up a new port as follows:
    Action: allow
    Protocol: tcp
    Service: other
    Source Address: any; Port: 587
    Desintation Address: any; Port 587
    Interface: other
Doing this will NOT result in port 587 opening. I know it's not open because if I turn the firewall service 'OFF', I can access that port. However, with the service 'ON', I can't get through.
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Regards,
    Luke

    Your rule is too specific.
You're telling the firewall to allow traffic that is coming from port 587 on the remote machine to port 587 on your machine.
AFP connections only use a destination port of 587. The source port could be any available port number on the remote system, and would probably never be less than 1024.
Change the rule so that 'Source address' is 'any' and you should be fine.

The Admin console is an app internal to Weblogic, the possible cause for the CLOSE_WAIT could be that, the port was closed by server but not by the internal web app.
so it is hung in CLOSE_WAIT state. You might want to restart the servers so that the ports are cleared.
Try restarting the admin server and check the state of the port 7003 and see if you can access Admin console fine.
    Hope this helps

  • Console port not working.

    Hello!
I would like to know if there's some situation what a console port could be disabled, or something like that.
I'm trying to configure a Catalyst 2960 Series PoE-24 by the console port using the hyperterminal, but it's not working. I verified the cable and the COM port, and everything works with another switch (same model).
Does anyone knows what could possibly be happening?

My colleagues have focused on the usual issues that cause the console to not work - possible issues with the terminal emulator or more likely is mis match in the speed setting of the console. If you work through those possibilities and the console still does not work then I have another possibility to suggest. Perhaps someone configure the command no exec under line con 0. This would cause the console to not work. It would display messages during bootup but would not accept any commands.
Does the switch seem to boot up normally? Was it configured with an IP address that you could potentially telnet to? This would give you a way to investigate the configuration.
If my suggestion is correct and the issue is that no exec was configured then you should be able to use password recovery to bypass the existing config and this could restore normal operation for the switch.
    HTH

  • The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible

I am working on setting up a new SharePoint 2013 Farm for our external web site which is currently running on 2010 SharePoint. Because this is an External Website for our organization we have an internally available Publishing Site and there is an Web App
Extension to provide Anon Access to users using the www address. Currently I am doing everything on a single server for testing with HOSTS entries to loop back so I can test with real host headers and not impact the 2010 prod environment. We will be setting
up 2 more WFEs with a NLB before moving this into prod but it isn't there yet. We brought the Site Collection Databases over but are still running in 2010 mode for now.
I migrated a copy of the Secure Store Database over from 2010 and had it put on the 2013 Farm's Database Server. Set up Secure Store and the Secure Store Proxy. I went into the Secure Store Proxy in CA and refreshed the Key with the proper Pass Phrase. After
doing that I could see the Target Application IDs listed. Everything was looking good so I went off to test. If I am on the publishing site I can go to a page that has the solution on it and it operates as expected. It does a query to a non SharePoint database
and returns information filtered based on the search parameters. The only odd thing I see is if I click on the "Site Actions" I get a message "An error has occurred with the data fetch. Please refresh page and retry." Need to look into
that more but it only happens on pages that have these solutions. Maybe a clue. If I go to the Anonymous Access page (www......) and try and use the solution, it immediately (way too quick to appear like it is doing anything) comes back with "The security
    token request cannot be completed."
If I dig through the usage logs I am finding the following.
The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible. The full exception text is: The security token request cannot be completed.
Unexpected exception from endpoint address : https://[Servername]:32844/4e87fd3aabb640fb8cc3ed52188cf5c0/SecureStoreService.svc/https
Logging unknown/unexpected client side exception: InvalidOperationException. This will cause this application server to be removed from the load balancer queue. Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The security token request cannot be completed.

    Boolean validateCanary, ExecuteDelegate`1 operation).
Initially I was fighting a firewall issue because it wasn't working (different errors) on both sides. Had Network Engineers open firewall ports needed and now it works on the publishing side. Still the same error on the Anon side. I suspect I have missed
something when it comes to configuring the Secure Store to allow access to anonymous connections.
Let me know if you need any more information but that should paint a pretty good picture as to how things are set up.
Thanks for any help on this one. Searches haven't found much that has helped so far.

    Hi Sennister,
I recommend to verify the things below:
Did this issue occur with all the pages in the anonymous side?
Check if the Claims to Windows Token Service is started.
Change the <identity impersonate="true" /> in the web.config to see if the issue still occurs.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Site not accessible from the Load balanced web front end server - sharepoint 2010

    I have a production environment with 2 WFE's(sp-wfe1 & sp-wfe2), 2 APP's and 2 SQL clustered VM's.
2 WFE's are load balanced using hardware load balancer.
An A-Record(PORTAL) is created in DNS for the virtual IP of the load balancer which points to the 2 WFE's.
A web application is created on the WFE's on port 80.
alternative access mapping is configured and the load balanced record "http://PORTAL" is used under the default zone.
Under IIS I have edited the bindings for the sharepoint site at port 80 and added the HOSTNAME as PORTAL.
Result: The site is accessible from outside the server and works fine.
ISSUE: The site is not accessible within the WFE's(sp-wfe1 & sp-wfe2).
When I browse the site from the WFE's server it ask for the credentials and when I enter the credentials and click OK it ask the credentials again and again and in the end displays a blank page.
Kindly help me in this issue because I am clueless and couldn't find anything helpful on the internet.

  • A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The
server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26- Error:Locating Server\instance Specified)
    How Can i solve this?

    1. Make sure SQL Server Service is running
    2. If a named instance, make sure SQL Server browser service is running
    3. Make sure SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections
    4. Examine the SQL Server error log for messages confirming that SQL is listening on the expected network interfaces and ports
    5. Test server connectivity with PING from the client machine
    6. Test port connectivity using TELNET or PowerShell to the server and port (from step 4) from the client machine.  For example
    a. TELNET <server-name> 1433
    b. PowerShell: 1433 | % { echo ((new-object Net.Sockets.TcpClient).Connect("YourServerName",$_)) "server listening on TCP port $_" }
    7. Check firewall settings if step 5 or 6 connectivity test fails

    Hello friends,
My finding it finally is....there wasn't any configuration issue as I mentioned above.
I'm using an evaluation edition of SQL Server 2008 R2; it just allows default instance (MSSQLSERVER) to be used, not a named instance.
The confirming test for this was...I re-installed SQL Server with all the same settings except changing from a named instance to default; once I finished applying service pack 3. I could initiate WSUS 3.0 SP2 x64 setup and point it to use this SQL server.
WSUS setup completed without any errors. This was not happening when named instance was all configured properly. It was just not accessible from outside.
Well this is what my finding is. For lab environment of CM2012 it suffices the need.
    Regards,
    Shahzad.

  • OOB management with console port

I would like to do the setup according to the doc - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk801/tk36/technologies_tech_note09186a00800941c9.shtml
The only disadvantage I see is from the following excerpt from the article -
"Warning: Unprotected modems should not be connected to the console port. The console ports do not log users off when the carrier detect is lost, which can leave a security hole. To avoid this, use a secure modem, or connect via the AUX port. For more information on the advantages and disadvantages of connecting a modem to the Console port, refer to the Modem-Router Connection Guide."
I know I could set an exec-timeout of 1 minute but that would still leave a small window of time for security breaches if the line drops.
Could someone tell me a particular modem that has a password built into it to overcome this problem? What is the best security practice in this case?
I have setup modems before on the aux port, but you cannot access the router after reload if it boots into ROMMON mode for some reason.
    Thanks,
    RJ

    Hi,
As a workaround you can try using an old junk PC with 2 serial ports, install Linux on that PC, connect via terminal session using the modem attached to serial COM1 (modem in autoanswer mode just like you're doing now), login with username/password on the Linux machine and then use a terminal emulation software like Minicom to open serial port COM2 to get the IOS prompt from the router.
Maybe this option is too much hassle for your application, but it won´t cost you a dime and is not really that difficult.
    Regards.

  • Oem database console giving a  404 Not Found error

Hi, The OEM database console shows a 404 not found error outside the machine. It works fine within the machiine when I remote desktop. I am clueless as to why, the sysman logs directory is empty. If you know any reasons please let m e know.
    Thanks..

It may be that you can't access the hostname/port on the server. So try to do a ping to the server and see if you can get a response, can you ssh or telnet to the machine? Is there a firewall between your client and the machine?

  • CATALYST 2820, console port config for modem

    Hi,
I’m a 2nd semester CCNA student, and I purchased a old CATALYST 2820 switch for training purposes. I do not know the password and the console port has been configured for a modem. I thought that it would be easy to reset the password—but cannot find any way to do it with the 2820, and the console port configured for a modem.
Does anyone know what the default factory password is? If the password has been changed (from the factory default), how can I reset the system?
    Thanks!

    I appreciate your help!
I did look at that link several times—my 2820 has a mfg. date of Sept 97. I held in the Mode button, but the LED above port 1x does not come on (held it in for over a minute). I never see any info. using the console port.
I did try attaching a modem to the console port—it works—I get a login prompt. I don’t know if it is the factory default password. I know that the rollover cable is working—tried a 827-4v.
    Am I doing something wrong???
    Thanks, David

  • Catalyst switch hangs when connecting via console port

    Hi,
I've just started work for a company - they have no network documentation or knowledge of their current set-up whatsoever.
For the LAN in the office they have Cisco Catalyst WS-C3524-XL switches. But it doesn't seem like these are even configured with an IP address for management purposes.
So, I thought I would connect via a console cable to have a look at their configurations and also to investigate some performance problems some users were having on the LAN.
BUT - when I connected to the console cable, all the switch LEDs stopped flickering happily and went solid and everyone in the office lost their network connectivity! (I wasn't popular!)
Rebooting the switch with the console port still connected had no effect - the LEDs remained solid and there was no network connectivity. However, when I removed my console cable, everything started working again!
Does anyone have any ideas a) what can have caused this and b) how I can resolve this problem and connect to the switches without disrupting all the other users!
Note: I subsequently connected to a spare WS-C3524-XL switch using the same laptop and same console cable without any problems.

    Hi,
    thanks for the response.
no, I can't login to the switch(es) at all. There seems to be no response from hyperterminal at all. (Then I noticed that the LEDs had gone "solid" and that everyone started to complain they had lost network connection!)
Even when I powered off and powered on the switch with the console port still connected, nothing appeared on the hyperterminal screen.
However, as mentioned, I'm able to connect to one of our spare switches using the same settings, same laptop, and same console cable - so I guess that would rule these things out as being the cause?
Its definitely a strange one, especially as it seems to be affecting all 3 of the live switches!
