The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible

I am working on setting up a new SharePoint 2013 Farm for our external web site which is currently running on 2010 SharePoint. Because this is an External Website for our organization we have an internally available Publishing Site and there is an Web App
Extension to provide Anon Access to users using the www address. Currently I am doing everything on a single server for testing with HOSTS entries to loop back so I can test with real host headers and not impact the 2010 prod environment. We will be setting
up 2 more WFEs with a NLB before moving this into prod but it isn't there yet. We brought the Site Collection Databases over but are still running in 2010 mode for now.
I migrated a copy of the Secure Store Database over from 2010 and had it put on the 2013 Farm's Database Server. Set up Secure Store and the Secure Store Proxy. I went into the Secure Store Proxy in CA and refreshed the Key with the proper Pass Phrase. After
doing that I could see the Target Application IDs listed. Everything was looking good so I went off to test. If I am on the publishing site I can go to a page that has the solution on it and it operates as expected. It does a query to a non SharePoint database
and returns information filtered based on the search parameters. The only odd thing I see is if I click on the "Site Actions" I get a message "An error has occurred with the data fetch. Please refresh page and retry." Need to look into
that more but it only happens on pages that have these solutions. Maybe a clue. If I go to the Anonymous Access page (www......) and try and use the solution, it immediately (way too quick to appear like it is doing anything) comes back with "The security
token request cannot be completed."
If I dig through the usage logs I am finding the following.
The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible. The full exception text is: The security token request cannot be completed.
Unexpected exception from endpoint address : https://[Servername]:32844/4e87fd3aabb640fb8cc3ed52188cf5c0/SecureStoreService.svc/https
Logging unknown/unexpected client side exception: InvalidOperationException. This will cause this application server to be removed from the load balancer queue. Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The security token request cannot be completed.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSecurityContext.SecurityTokenForServiceContext(Uri contextUri)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPChannelFactoryOperations.InternalCreateChannelActingAsLoggedOnUser[TChannel](ChannelFactory`1 factory, EndpointAddress

Boolean validateCanary, ExecuteDelegate`1 operation).
Initially I was fighting a firewall issue because it wasn't working (different errors) on both sides. Had Network Engineers open firewall ports needed and now it works on the publishing side. Still the same error on the Anon side. I suspect I have missed
something when it comes to configuring the Secure Store to allow access to anonymous connections.
Let me know if you need any more information but that should paint a pretty good picture as to how things are set up.
Thanks for any help on this one. Searches haven't found much that has helped so far.

Hi Sennister,
I recommend to verify the things below:
Did this issue occur with all the pages in the anonymous side?
Check if the Claims to Windows Token Service is started.
Change the <identity impersonate="true" /> in the web.config to see if the issue still occurs.
Thanks,
Victoria

How can I change my store to US, now that I am in the US? A link in a previous thread says not accessible as the profile still shows different country..

As long as you have a form of payment (credit or debit card) with a USA source, and with a billing address in the USA, then you just need to change your payment information on your account to that, change your country in the store settings, and you will then be able to shop in the USA store.
Your AppleID will work in any country's store, as long as your payment source and billing addres are also specific to that country (and you are in that country as well, as there may be IP filters in place to stop use outside of the country).

  • Cannot create new Service Application in Manage Service Applications in Central Administration

    Hi!
I'm having problems with a new SharePoint 2013 Enterpise installation. The issue I'm having is is that if I navigate to Manage Service Applications and click on New I get nothing in the dropdown. If I use the wizard I can create new Service applications but
not through the Manage Service Applications page. Anyone know why? The button is not greyed out and I can click it but it doesn't show any service application at all (see picture).

    Hi,
Based on your description, there is no service applications in the new dropdown list in SharePoint 2013.
    Check things below:
Run the SharePoint products Configuration Wizard and      then check if the same situation will occur.
Run Central Administration as administrator and then      check the results.
According to your last post, it seems that there is something wrong about certificate.
How do you connect server through remote access? And check if it is the same situation when you create service application in SharePoint
    server.
    Best regards

  • Secure Store Service Application takes a lot of time and does not create the database

    Hi everybody,
I was trying to configure sharepoint performance point and I was following the instruction. After I created the performance point services application I tried to creat the secure store service application. When I do this, the progress window stays open forever
even after 2 hours. If I close the window, I will see that the secure store service and proxy app is created and the application pool also is created in IIS but the database is not and the application service is stopped. even when I want to delete it, it's
the same story and the progress window stays until I close it manually. Nothing has been logged in the event viewer because it doesn't throw any exceptions.
I don't think that I have permission issues on the database server side because I have created the performance point service app and the database is there. I have used the same credentials to crete the secure store.
I have restarted the secure store service and IIS for many times and even the server itself.
I'm wondering if anybody has had this issue because I couldn't find anything on the web.
    Thanks,
    Edwin

  • SP2013 Workflow Service Application is not showing up only WF Service App proxy but the WF is working...

I configured Sharepoint Workflow Manager 1.0 in Sharepoint 2013 App Server running under Windows 2012 R2. The Workflow manager is working properly - I tested using Sharepoint Designer and Sharepiont Workflow 2013 is listed.  But under Service Applications,
only Workflow Service Application Proxy shows up NO Workflow Service Application.
I followed the troubleshooting steps on this - I have re-registered WF many times but still only proxy is coming up.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/laleh/archive/2014/09/03/sharepoint-2013-workflow-troublehsooting.aspx
I also run IPConfig /FlushDNS, rebooted App and WFE servers.
Any reason why WF Service Application is not showing up? Any resolution to have WF Service App show up?

    Hi John,
I recommend to click Configuration Wizards in the Quick Launch of Central Administration site and then click Launch the Farm Configuration Wizard.
And then make sure that the Workflow Service Application is selected and then click Next. (You can uncheck the other service applications if you do not need them)
After that, the Workflow Service Application will show up.
    Best regards.

  • Is one application pool preferred for all sharepoint service applications(

is one application pool preferred for all SharePoint service applications ?
I have a three-tier architected SP 2013 small farm (NLT, 2 wfe, 1 app server, 1 db server). All services will be use (Secure Store,Service Application, Managed Metadata Service Application, Search Service Application,User Profile Service Application,App
    Management Service Application,Workflow Manager,Excel Service Application,BI Reporting Service Application,Power Pivot Service,Performance Point,Visio Services,BCS Service application)
I am unclear on the following:
which servers should host which service ? and why ?
Is one application pool account preferred for all SP service Applications ? if not which service applications should be logically group ? and why ?

Creating additional application pools requires more RAM memory.  About 100-150 MB per app pool.  But it also keeps things happening in one app pool from affecting another.  So normally you create additional app pools when you want to maintain
higher service levels on one component versus another.  For example.  Let's assume that your service levels designate that you could survive a 3 hour outage of Search but that Managed metadata must be constantly available with minimal downtime.  Then
you would put Search and MMS in separate App Pools.  Otherwise there is no real advantage to splitting them up.
Services that are accessed directly by user request, like Search Query, Managed metadata, user profile should go on the Web Front ends.  Services that process heavier intermittent loads are normally placed on a dedicated application server to keep them
from affecting overall performance, for example Excel Services.  But its more of an art form rather than a science and depends a lot on your performance needs, your hardware, and your usage.

  • Can you run multiple Excel Services Applications against a single Web Application?

I have been struggling with this one for a while now, hopefully someone can help me understand what I am missing...
I have a single SharePoint Farm.  This farm runs multiple Web Applications & the Service Applications.
    1. SharePoint Only Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://sharepoint.com/...)
    2. MS Project Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://pwa.com/...)
    3. My services applications all exist on the same farm.
I was under the impression, and believe that I validated this through testing and from this site (http://blogs.office.com/2009/11/16/excel-services-in-sharepoint-2010-administration-improvements),
that you can only run a single Excel Services Application against each unique Web Application.  In essence, I can run one Excel Services Application against the SharePoint Only Server, and another Excel Services Application against the MS Project
Server...  However, I can NOT run multiple Excel Services Applications against the different Site Collections within the MS Project Server becuase it is only aware of its "default" Excel Service Application.
ie. I can NOT do the following:  ExcelServiceApp1 for
    http://pwa.com/SiteA & ExcelServiceApp2 for
    http://pwa.com/SiteB
    Is that correct?
If that is not correct, then I must be missing a way to specify a different Excel Service App for each Project Web App Site.
Some other solutions that I think may work, but would really appreciate if someone could validate:
    - Create multiple Project Server Service Applications for each instance of PWA/Excel Service? (but wouldn't this still have to use one of the two WebApplications and cause the same limitation?)
    - Create a new Web Applciation for each PWA/Excel Service? (ie.
    http://pwasite1.com;
    http://pwasite2.com; http://pwasite3.com, etc.)
    Thoughts/suggestions are very greatly appreciated!!!

    Hello Trpy2k
I have not done what you are doing and I assume that you are using project server 2010.  However, you answer lives in PowerShell.
The New-WebServiceProxy show that you can create a new proxy by spacing a URL and not a web application. The default proxy from the web application is directing to the default excel service.  If you need another excel service, you must specify another
proxy and this may do it for you.
Also, don't forget the Secure State service and that each excel report will need this configured, that is with the assumption that the other excel service requires different authentication.
PS.  This question may get a better answer in the SharePoint forums.
    Cheers!

  • Ejbmodule error while building the external service app using web service

    Hi,
I am new to SOA. I have developed an external service application using web service. While buiding the project i am getting the ejb module error which is mentioned below and the remaining five internal projects are getting deployed successfully. Can anyone help me out in resolving this issue.

  • SP2013 "Create Service Applicationt" and "Service Applications' Property" buttons are disabled

    Hello,
I’ve verified that I am local admin on the server that is hosting central admin.
I run the browser as admin. In fact I am using Central Admin on the start menu. The UAC is disabled on the box any way
I run the browser on the machine that is hosing CA. I've tested in on many other machines.
I verified and my user is farm admin. That means I can see my logged-in user listed in CA->“Manage the farm administrators group”
    IE Enhanced Security is off
Still I cannot create a service application or see any service application’s property. How to find where exactly is the problem?
    Thank you

What did you mean ‘cannot create a service application’?
Whether you meaned that the New service application button was disabled or not services applications were listed when you clicked the button.
By default, there are some services applications whose properties are disabled, for example Access Services Application and Excel Services Application etc.
Please make sure that SharePoint Web Services Root Application pool is running in Internet Information Services Manager, then check if this issue occurres.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

  • 2010 to 2013 migration problem with service application

With a 3rd party migrator we are able to migrate a simple 2010 site to 2013. By simple UI level approach sites are migrated easily. But we have a large project where we have good amount of work done on various service applications.
We are facing problem to migrate entire 2nd SP2010 application with service applications. Do any one has idea of smooth migration of large service applications to 2013 with avepoint or quest tools?
If faced same problem then share steps.

The Microsoft guidance for upgrading a SP2010 farm to SP2013 is in the link below. Most of your existing SharePoint out of the box service applications can be upgraded also. This includes User Profile Service Application and the Search Service Application.
Custom service applications most likely not upgradeable. Hopefully the guidance was followed so there should be no problems.

  • Web Application to Web Service Scenario

    Hi All.
    The following is the scenario:
    Sender: Web Application
    Receiver: Web Service
    Adapters To be used:
    Sender Adapter: HTTP
    Receiver Adapter: SOAP
    Query:
    1. What will be the TS type in the SLD? Standalone Java or WebAS Java? Or, do we need SLD entries at all?
    Thanks,
    Anindita

    Banik,
You need SLD entries. You can have one third party business system for both of them also. It also depends upon the clients requirements and naming standards.

  • Access denied by Application security check

I see that others have gotten this error when logging in but I'm getting this during an application install.
I have an application in workspace A that I exported. I created workspace B, using the same parsing schema and the same workspace the schema assignments. In workspace A, I exported as user ADMIN who has Administrator and Developer rights. The same user with the same rights was used to import and install the application into workspace B. The import into workspace B is successful. For the import, I use the same parsing schema assignment and I let the install utility assign a new application ID. It apparently chose app ID 115 because after a few minutes into the install I get the "Access denied by Application security check" and at the top of the page it says "Application 115 installed".
To make matters worse, when I log back into workspace A, I see that application 115 has just been installed into THAT workspace.

    Lloyd,
That's weird. What version of Application Express? I would suggest using a different user (not ADMIN) for export and import, as I'm sure what you experienced is due to a bug related to the privileges of the ADMIN user.

  • Backup-SPFarm for PowerPivot Service Application

    Hi
I am using Backup-SPFarm PowerShell cmdlet to take a backup of my service applications.
I am able to take the backup of all my services applications except PowerPivot Service Application.
    Below is my command:
Backup-SPFarm -Directory $backupSAFolder -BackupMethod Full -Item "Farm\Shared Services\Shared Services Applications\SQL Server PowerPivot Service Application"
Error:  Item Farm\Shared Services\Shared Services Applications\SQL Server PowerPivot Service Application not found.
I also cross checked with the correct Application service name (to check if i am not doing any typo mistake) using
Get-SPServiceApplication cmdlet. see the screenshot below.
    Could somebody help me please.
    My name is yogendra

You just need to take backup of service application databases from SQL server

    2) Backup, Copy, Restore the Databases
The “SharePoint database-attach upgrade” process is a sequence of steps to back up, copy, and restore PowerPivot related content and service application databases to the SharePoint 2013 farm.
Set Database to read-only: In SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the database name and click
Properties. On the Options page, set the
    Database read-Only property to
    True.
Back up: Back up each content database and service application database that you want to migrate to the SharePoint 2013 farm. In SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the database name, click
    Tasks, and click Back up.
File copy the database backup files (.bak) to the desired destination server.
Restore: Restore the databases to the destination SQL Server Database Engine. This step can be completed using SQL Server Management Studio.
Set Database to read-write: Set the
    Database read-Only to False.
Migrate Schedules option1: SharePoint farm administrator
In the SharePoint 2013 Management Run the Set-PowerPivotServiceApplication cmdlet with the
-StartMigratingRefreshSchedules switch to enable automatic on demand schedule migration
. The following Windows PowerShell script assumes that there is only one PowerPivot service application.
    $app=Get-PowerPivotServiceApplication
    Set-PowerPivotServiceApplication $app -StartMigratingRefreshSchedules
After the Windows PowerShell script is run, the schedules are active and the schedules will run at the next appropriate time. However, the status one the schedule refresh page is not enabled. When the schedule runs the first time it will be migrated and
on the schedule refresh page, Enabled will be true.
If you want to check the current value of the StartMigratingRefreshSchedules property, run the following PowerShell script. The Script loops through all PowerPivot service application objects and display the name and property values:
    $apps = Get-PowerPivotServiceApplication
    foreach ($app in $apps){}
    Get-PowerPivotServiceApplication $appp | format-table -property displayname,id,StartMigratingRefreshSchedules

  • Each WebI RESTful web services call brings HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

    Hello,
What could be the reason that each call into the WebI RESTful api delivers a HTTP 404 Not Found?
We have the RESTful url and can connect to the web service.
We see that when the WACS is not running we get a connection refused.
We see that when the WACS is running but disabled the connect call hangs until timeout (after 1+hours).
We think that the HTTP 404 we get with each WebI RESTful call (e.g. URL/raylight/v1/documents/12345678/variables, or links, or properties, or dataproviders ...) has something to do with an installation/configuration issue of the WebI RESTful api.
It does not seem to be an access right problem.
We found many patterns how the WebI RESTful api behaves when the access rights are not sufficient. Neither of them had the HTTP 404 in each call.
How can we prove that the WebI RESTful web services functionality is installed and configured correctly?
So far we checked the settings in the WACS, and the settings in CMC.Applications.RESTful Web Service. The settings there seem to be ok.
    What else can we check?
    Thanks,
    Bernd

    Hi Bernd,
You can send a request to:
    [GET] http://<server>:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/about
    (this call doesn't need authentification)
I don't really understand what is your problem. Is the hanging intermittent?
    Best regards,
    Anthony
