  • Consolidation logic error..We are using BPC 7.5 NW SP7.

    Hi Experts,
We are using BPC 7.5 NW SP7.
We are running the consolidation for 2011.NOVEMBER as a first month and  there is no data for previous months except 2011.MAR. My financial year starts on 2011.APR.
When we are running consolidation using standard consolidation logic it is considering the 2011.MAR values for automatic data sources. it is considering automatic data source and F_999 AND F_100 flows.
After running the consolidation F_999 flow is becoming as F_100  AND agin F_999 is adding the present month F_999 flow values.
    Example
    acct1                auto1datasrc       2011.mar     f_999         100
After running standard consolidation logic in nov,
    acct1                auto1datasrc       2011.NOV     f_100         100
    acc1                auto1datasrc       2011.NOV     f_999         130   (100+30)...........[this is wrong, ideally we should have present mont value 30]
    1. why is it considering previous year values
    2. How to control restrict closeing bal not to add to current year closing balance.
    Please Share your expertise.
    Thanks,

Hello Raj, Im facing the same issue and also my problem is due to FLOW_TYPE maintainance. Could you please share your knowledge about the usage and behaviour of this property ?.

  • Financial Reporting using BPC 5.1: A few questions

    Hello,
A client of mine is doing an assessment of using BPC 5.1 as a financial report writing tool versus BI/BEx. They are not currently using BPC for either planning or consolidations but that might happen in the future. The financial data is being extracted from the SAP BI system and being reported on in this pilot implementation. There are a few questions I have:
    1) How common is it for organizations to be using BPC as just a financial report writing tool but not for planning & consolidations?
    2) We have come across some constraints in using hierarchies in BPC which was not the case in BEx. We are having issues picking and choosing hierarchies. We have not been able to select a particular dependent node of a hierarchy. Let's say that A is the parent node and B and C are child nodes in a hierarchy. We've tried every trick but are not able to select either B or C individually. Moreover if we want both B and C, we are forced to create a hierarchy for B and C. This is not correct. This is a pretty basic requirement. Has anyone come across this restriction? If this is how BPC 5.1 works, is SAP planning on fixing this in BPC 7.0 do that it works like BEx works today?
I look forward to your help, advice and inputs. We are in a bind and relevant responses will be awarded full points.
    Thanks,
    Jon

I think it is very common for customer to utilize the tool JUST for reporting.  The idea is to utilize the tool for as many purposes as possible.  Customers use it purly for Operational reporting, planning specific, functional specific, or just plain simplified way to get needed data into the users hands via excel and the ability to build reports on the fly or using predefined templates which are highly flexible.
As for your second question, There is no direct method for selecting or "checking" a bundle of members to use in a report from the current view.  However, there is an indirect method that may be built using EVDRE.  It involves building an opening Tab in an BPC for Excel report, selecting the members viia the copy function in the current view, pasteing them to a section in the tab, running basic excel tests that aggregarte the members into a useable list for an EVDRE function, used in the MEMBBERSET section of a given dimension, that will then expand and retrieve the data for those members  in the that will be run in a second Excel tab.  Once you see it in action, it does the same thing  or almost the same function you are requesting.
I am not certain if the process will be fixed in future releases, but if you like the feature, please contact product support and log an enhancement request, so as to formalize the request.  There are other who hold the same sentiment.
    Hope this helps.

  • Standard roles in BW (SU01) to use BPC 10.1?

    Hi experts,
I'm currently working on BPC 10.1 and I'm trying to figure out which roles are necessary in tc SU01 to use BPC 10.1. The 10.0 security guide specified two standard roles needed for the users, /POA/BUI_FLEX_CLIENT and /POA/BUI_UM_USER. However the 10.1 security guide does not say anything about standard roles so I'm wondering if it's the same roles as in 10.0...
    Please advise
    Best regards,

    Hi Shekar,
The solution provided by the Note 2068917 can resolve the issue.
It worked for me. Just create an ABAP program with the following code and execute it.
Please provide the appropriate 'username' and '_AppsetName'  as per your requirement.
DELETE FROM RSBPC_WEB_UP WHERE user_id = 'username' AND NAME = 'colSeq' AND CATEGORY = 'members_AppsetName'.

  • Best Practices in DB Consolidation using RAC

    Dear all
I'm looking for recommendations on DB Consolidation using RAC.
    I mean:
Assuming to have different serious production databases which availability is a serious requirement.
Which is best: to have different small RACs with one DB on each, or having a big RAC and put all the DB's into it.
    - What is recommended
    - What are limitations & issues
    e.g:
    - Supported DB version (assume we can force developers to support a certain version)
    - Different Startup options (I heard this one for conslidation in an stand alone DB Server with multiple instances. Is it an issue for RAC architecture?)
    - What are challenges and how to overcome
    - When to have One RAC with multiple instances & when to have multiple RAC with one instance per RAC
    - What DB's are better to be consolidated in one RAC, and when it is best to seperate them
And many other considerations that surely have'nt gone through my head :)
I need a comprehensive view and need some references.
looking forward to your kind replies
    cheers
    Mehdi Sarmadi

    Hi Mehdi,
Which is best: to have different small RACs with one DB on each, or having a big RAC and put all the DB's into it.
It will be better to have DB for OLTP type application seperate than the DB for DSS type appllication. This way you'll have more control over their performance.
    What is recommended
    - What are limitations & issues
    e.g:
    - Supported DB version (assume we can force developers to support a certain version)
    - Different Startup options (I heard this one for conslidation in an stand alone DB Server with multiple instances. Is it an issue for RAC architecture?)
As far as DB version is concerned 11gR1 is the latest version and is stable also. So it is always advisable to go with the latest stable version. This will make your support from Oracle last longer.
I didn't understand what u exactly meant by different startup options. But the startup options will remain same for RAC DB also as far as DB is cocerned.Only the additional task will be the Cluserware components startup and ASM instance (if used).
    - What are challenges and how to overcome
    - When to have One RAC with multiple instances & when to have multiple RAC with one instance per RAC
    - What DB's are better to be consolidated in one RAC, and when it is best to seperate them
There are not any chalenges to overcome in RAC other than the pre-requistes required by it . For the requirements go through oracle docs.
Having one node RAC doesn't make much sense other than when u have only one server and u plan to add other ones later on.You'll be able to use RAC benefits with multiple instance only. How many instances u need is a matter of observation of the type of load your aplication will have.
For installtion docs of RAC go u can view the link below and choose appropriate option according to your OS:

  • Consolidation in BPC 7.5 NW

    Hi Experts,
Could you please let me know what is consolidation in BPC and how helpful it would be for Planners.
Please send me the basic documents related to consolidation . Thanks.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev

    Hi Sanjeev,
Consolidation is a financial process. Please refer to some finance related sites to understand the terminology.
In simple terms, financial consolidation is process by which you consolidate the business operations at parent group level considering the ownership structure and parent's interest in its subsidiaries. There are several adjustments that you have to make while consolidating the financial transaction and it purely depends on how much parent group owns/controls and some adjustments related to investments and equity. Note, the parents investment is sitting is all or part of the equity of the subsidiary.
Regarding the setup, the best place would be to read the how to about how to set up legal consolidation.

  • How to do consolidation using two chart accounts with different currencies

    Hi
How to do consolidation using two chart accounts with different currencies and do we need to use same fiscal year variant ?
What would be the impossible factors when we use two company codes with two chart of accounts ...
    Regards
    Kesharika

    Good Afternoon
You need to use translationa and/or valuation
translation takes account in foreign currency and translates to group currency
valuation takes account in currency 1 and restates into currency 2 for a company with currency 2
so depends on which company you are consolidating for, a company in a foreign currency in that currency or consolidating a compnay in foreign currency to parent company in another currency

  • Consolidation in BPC 10

    Hi,
does anyone know if in BPC 10 for a consolidation model I have to use a currency and a group type dimension? Or can I still use a currency type dimension only?
Has anyone actually managed to get a consolidation up and running in BPC 10 at all?
    Thanks,
    Arnold
Edited by: ArnoldWarhonowicz on Feb 2, 2012 9:03 AM - added second question

    Hi Arnold,
I'm not sure. I know in the Netweaver version that this distinction is required in version 10.
The EnvironmentShell Consolidation Model has the GROUPS/RPTCURRENCY in two different dimensions.
You can try combining but I would keep them separate.

  • Best practice data source from ECC 6.0 for legal consolidation in BPC NW7.5

    Hi there,
after scanning every message in this forum for "data source" I wonder if there isn't any standard approach from SAP to extract consolidation data from ECC 6.0. I have to say that my customer is not using New g/l so far and therefore the great guide "how to get balances from ECC 6.0 ..." does not fully work for us.
Coming from the old world of EC-CS there is the first option to go via the GLT3 table. This option requires clever customization and the need to keep both GLT0 and GLT3 in line. Who has experiences regarding maintenance of these tables in a production environment?
We therefore plan to use data source 0FI_GL_4 which contains all line items to the financial documents posted. Does this approach make sense or will it fail because of performance issues?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Dierk

    Hi Dierk,
Do you have a need for the level of detail provided by the 0FI_GL_4 extractor? Normally I would recommend going for the basic 0FI_GL_6 extractor, which provides a much more manageable data volume since it only gives the periodic activity and balances as well as a much smaller selection of characteristics. Link: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0a/558cabb2e19a4db3097b81bba4fd0e/frameset.htm]
Despite this initial recommendation, every client I've had has eventually had a need for the level of detail provided by the 0FI_GL_4 extractor (or the New G/L equivalent - 0FI_GL_14). Most BW systems can handle the output of the line-item extractors without much issue, but you should test using production data and make sure your system sizing takes into account the load.
The major problem you can run into with the line-item extractors is that if your delta somehow gets compromised it can take a very long time (days, sometimes weeks) to reinitialize and this can cause a large load in your ECC and BW system. Also, for the first transport to production, it is important to plan time to initialize the delta.

  • Best BW datasource for consolidation in BPC 7.0NW

    BPC Gurus,
I am working on Legal Consolidation.
Which is the best datasource to be extracted from ECC New GL?
0FI_GL_20 is better or any other data source is better.
The data required is in YTD format.
The data is required only from leading ledger.
    Please share your experiences.
    Thanks in Advamce,
    GMR.

The best data source will be the NEW GL line items / totals data. It does not matter if the ledger is leading or not, as long as you have all the data (be it line item or totals).

  • HFM Consolidations using Task Flow Automation

I have created a task flow that has 5 stages (each stage having a success and a fail link). The first stage is set to consolidate (Impacted) our Actuals scenario for 6 years for 3 entity trees). The 2nd stage consolidates a different scenario for 3 yrs for 3 trees, etc. The task flow seems to "stop" in Stage 1 after consolidating all 3 trees for a few years. If I look in the View Taskflow status, the task flow still shows as being active; however if I look under Running Tasks, it shows nothing is running. If I look under Task Audit, it shows the last consolidation finished. I run into this same problem both when I schedule the task flow and when I run it manually. It consolidates a few years and then stops (and it's still in the first stage). I looked in the Event log on the HFM server and don't see anything that looks suspicious. Has anyone else had this problem?
Also one more question - when I go to automate the task flow, why does the server time stamp listed there not match the clock on the server? I'm remoted into the server and the clock on the task bar says 9am, but the Server Date showing on the Starting Event tab shows 8am.
    Thanks.
    Terri

I just got back to looking at this today. I ran the task flow to consolidate 2004-2009 actuals for 3 trees for all 12 months. All 3 trees were consolidated for 2004. Two trees were consolidated for 2005 and then it stopped. Both 2004 and 2005 are in the same stage of the task flow, so if the settings were correct for 2004, they should be fine for 2005. If I look at the task audit screen, it shows that it started consolidating the 2nd tree of 2005 at 8:32am. It then shows my id logging off at 8:33am and that the consolidation finished at 8:38am. Then it shows my id logging off again at 8:47am. The task flow is set up so that my id logs in for the 1st stage and then the following stages are set to use Initiator ... but the flow isn't getting to the 2nd stage be/c it dies.
If I view the status of my task flow, it still shows as being active. I don't understand why the task audit shows my id as logging off be/c I still have the same 2 HFM sessions running as I did when I initiated the task flow ... unless it's the session that starts up to run the task flow that's getting logged off ... but if it is, I don't know why. Would the auto-logoff after so many minutes of inactivity cause this? Maybe that session appears inactive even though it's waiting for the task flow to do it's thing.
1:07pm Follow-up - After the task flow hung this morning, I manually stopped it. I then kicked off the same task flow again and it completed successfully about 4 hours later ... so it doesn't seem to be due to the auto-logoff (time out) setting.

  • Question on consolidation using Essbase

    Hi There,
We only have Essbase, we have Finance cube for Company P&L, Balance, the usual stuff. The company will merge with another company at end of the year, So we have company A and company B, both have its own chart of account, and department dimension.
The goal is to build cosolidation view with combined companies, I am suggesting using Essbase to do this, maybe we can build new Essbase cube for consolidated company, I am guess that I have to:
    1. Map both companies chart of accounts into one, maybe setup new essbase only Chart of account for this? same with Department dimension
    2. Then map GL data based on new dimension and load it to new cube
Does this sound right approach? Or any advice/suggestion in other approach?
    Thanks

  • Issue whith action pane when using BPC for excel in Spanish - BPC 7.5 NW

    Hi experts,
We just migrated from BPC NW 7.0 to BPC NW 7.5 and we are having a situation with our BPC for excel client now that if we open it with an english instalation everything is ok but if one client with a spanish instalation opens BPC for Excel, the action pane is empty. On 7.0 version everythng worked ok on spanish. Any idea of how to solve it?
    Thanks in advance.

Please note that the best practice is to use one language. However, if a number of languages must be used the following solutions may be applied:
If you want end-users to see the very same descriptions in various languages, you may copy the descriptions from one language over to another in BPC Admin Client.
If you want them to see native descriptions in the language the end-user is logged on under, you may log on to BPC Admin Client in the language(spanish) the descriptions are missing for and enter them. Do not forget to process the dimension. Refresh dimension members on client side and process all the dimensions. Now, English descriptions are seen under English and Spanish  under Spanish anit is the way it works because SAP has description against EN language only and not spanish
See the notes 1552856 and 1613170 which would be helpful. Thanks.
