Constant 'damaged file message when it isn't

Please help, I have an IMAC, and I just cant seem to get Adobe Reader to work write.  Now I get a damaged file message on a PDF both emailed to me anda  document I downloaded, when I know for a fact there is nothing wrong with the document at all because it works on my IPAD and PC?  HELLLLLLPPP

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

Cannot open downloaded pdf's with adobe reader. Have latest version of adobe program  continuously get damaged file message.  Anybody else having this problem?   Using imac with osx10.7.1 (latest lion)

I am having the exact same problem. This is very disturbing.
Lately I have been deluged with adobe update dialogues. I don't know whether this is real or some kind of bugus malware phenomenon.
Imagine my surprise when I looked here in the forum and I am not alone.
Kaufmann's remark that we shouldn't be using adobe reader doesn't explain why it is malfunctioning like this. I have been using the reader on Mac  OS for years, and I don't get what's happening now.
Does anyone realy know what is going on?

  • Unsupported media or damage file message when trying to import ProRes LT from Ninja

    Hi There,
Is my first day of migration from FCP to Premiere Pro CS5.5. I'm tryiing to import ProRes LT 1920x1080 @ 29.97fps recorded with an Atomos Ninja device and Premiere gives me the message:
"Unsupported media or damage file" and doesn't open it at all. I've preview the same files on my FCP 7 and they work properly.
I'm running on a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz with 4 gigs of RAM, Snow Leopard and QuickTime v.10.
Many thanks for any tip or suggestion.

Cool; glad that helped. And note that installing QT7 isn't a downgrade; they can live side-by-side. It's possible that QT7 is already present on the system (not a Mac user, myself), so maybe it was just the upgrade to 5.5.2 that did it. Whatever it was, glad you're in business!
Also. the yellow line isn't anything to get too concerned about. Check out this blog post for more on the render bars and what their color means: Red, yellow, and green render bars and what they mean « Premiere Pro work area

  • Unsupported format or damaged files message?

On importing files into CS5 I get the "Unsupported format or damaged files" message. I assume I need the correct Codec?  I am on a PC windows 8.1. Anyone know how to solve this?

    Hi,
You haven't mentioned the file type. Are you importing through the media browser?
Rename the parent folder that contains the files or try to move the files to a different location and see if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Rameez

    From the web:
    Templating | Nette Framework
"One of the best template engines is part of Nette Framework and it is called Latte."
Were you working on a web document or something?
    I have no clue myself.

Why am I all of a sudden getting an unreadable file message when trying to import photos to iphoto from the card in my Nikon camera?  I have done this many times before with no problem.

Have you tried a USB Card Reader?
Have you tried reformatting the card with the Camera?

The nearest I can find is there is a conflict between the Windows Backup program (which creates zip files) and Stuffit, which also creates zip files. Have you been using both those programs?

  • Error reading/writing file message when opening garageband and/or files

I've been recently getting this message when I open garageband and files
    "Error reading/writing file\U201Ccom.apple.garageband.cs\U201D
I've been in and repaired disk permissions and all that it says it is all fine, reinstall garageband and message still comes up, weird.
not only is garageband being a nuisance, Mac OS X 10.6.2 is being a pain when shutting down telling me to restart the computer. This only happened since upgrading to 10.6. No one as yet knows this promble so I'm gonna have to ring apple and see what is going on here.
and also my other problem is that mac doesn't seem as snappy anymore I noticed this before upgrading to 10.6 and made no difference when "cleanly" installing 10.6. I get a colour wheel popping up and i'm having to wait with simple tasks. iMac only 2 years old.

i give up with this discussion forum no no one knows anything

  • I get Unknown file message when digitising a DV tape

I get an Unknown File error message when importing in Log and Capture fron a DV deck.in FCP 7.
I have removed the prefs and re installed and it is still happening.
    Any help welcome.
    Richard

    Hmmm...
At least as far as the Canon goes:
The Canon XH A1 is in DV mode and Final Cut Pro is set to DV-NTSC?  Or,
The Canon XH A1 is in HDV mode and Final Cut Pro is set to the corresponding HDV mode?
The Canopus converter should work as long as FCP is set to DV-NTSC and the device control is disabled.
What else?  The Scratch Disc for video and audio captures is set to a drive that you've used for capture in the past?
As a trouble shooting step, have you tried another application like QuickTime Player or iMovie?  If your devices are each in DV mode, QuickTime Player should see the picture and sound (and even record it).  iMovie can be tricky these days for simple capture trouble shooting depending on which version you have as it supports differeent formats depending on which version you have installed: DV-NTSC only; DV-NTSC and HDV; AVCLite and AVCHD.
Hopefully someone who's encountered this same issue will chime in with "oh, it's _______ that causes that."
    Good luck,
    Warren

Moved from the Creative Cloud to the Premiere Pro forum. They will be able to help you here.

  • When importing from a certain Atmos Ninja Camera, I get a "unsupported or damaged file" message and can't import. Help?

These files are MOV format from a Apple Pro-rez 422.  I have a pc. Any ideas on how to fix this? The files work fine in Quicktime.

    Hi SkyeRyder,
These files are MOV format from a Apple Pro-rez 422.  I have a pc. Any ideas on how to fix this? The files work fine in Quicktime.
    Sorry to hear that.
What you might try is deactivating Premiere Pro, then reactivating it: Features and Sequence Presets missing | Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, CC, CC 2014
If that does not help, try moving the .mov files to a new folder and then import.
Also, always import files via the Media Browser, not File > Import
    Thanks,

  • Have to reboot to open ID and now have "damaged" file message

    Hi,
I'm using CS3. Over the last 24 hours, InDesign will close, when I click to open my ID file, it won't open. I have to reboot. When I reboot I got a message that reads "file maybe damaged, do you want to open it anyway"?
Another thing, when it has the message up, it gives the name of the file, but there is a different document that is trying to open.
    Would should I do?
Why won't ID open when I click on it until I have to restart the hard drive?
Is my file really damaged? What would be damaged in the file? Is there something I can do to recover and not lose this file? Why does it read that one file might be damaged and shows a different document in view.
    I really need these files.
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Barb

If you save as with a new name you get a new file without overwriting the old one, which is just a precaution. Exporting to .inx is a method of removing minor corruption that can creep in on occasion because it strips out all but the barest of necessary information to rebuild the file. Opening that and saving will give you the cleanest possible file.
This is a belt-and-suspenders approach, but I feel that is usually warranted when you have any doubts about file integrity. You can always throw away anything you find later you don't need, but you can't recover anything you destroy while trying to fix the problem.
For goodness sake, though, you need to have some sort of regular backup system in place in case of disaster. I've become fond of Acronis TrueImage (less than $100) which I use to make nightly backups of my data drive to an external hard drive and weekly backups to my system drive to an internal backup drive. I've been seeing more and more hard drive failures recently, and the backup system lets me sleep at night.
Another option I use for some of my service clients is an external drive that comes bundled with a backup system on it. It's not as sophisticated -- you don't get redundancy with the ones I've seen (Acronis lets me keep a couple of months of backup data before I need to delete anything to make space for the next round), but it should be sufficient for disaster recovery. I was using Maxtor OneTouch 4 500GB drives for this, but they seem to be disappearing from the marketplace in favor of larger models.

  • Receive "Damaged File" error when trying to open a fillable form from website

When our users try to access a fillable form they now receive the attached error message. The file is not damaged however. I can send the form viai e mail and it works fine. Any ideas?

    Hello,
The PDF is a fillable form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle. It is a rather large file (1800 kb). It lives (was uploaded) on our internal website, which is WordPress. It is accessed as a link. It worked just fine until yesterday. We did come up with a temporary solution, which is to have the form reside on a public drive, and then I linked to it from our web page. The form will open in IE, but not through Chrome or FireFox. Chrome asks for plug in updates. Our company does support Chrome and IE, but the majority of our users use IE.

  • What to do if you get Damaged file message?

When I save my Premiere project and try to open it on a second computer I get the message the the project file is damaged.
Also, i am now getting a message on the original program that it can not automatically save and the program requests that I do a Save As.
    What to do?

Can you confirm that both computers are running the same version of Premiere Pro and that you are trying to open the project in the same version?  Open Premiere Pro before actually opening the project, instead of double clicking the project file.
