Construction Industry Variation Orders?

I am working for a construction company. We are using SAP ecc6 (EHP5).
We have service purchase orders which represent contracts with suppliers. The purchasing documents are subject to release and the number of release codes depends on the value.
We have a requirement to handle "Variation Orders" against this contract and the variation should also be subject to release procedure on its own value. We have added complication that we can have negative value variations.
Each variation should have an associated print document detailing the value of the variation.
Does anybody know of any functionality to handle variations in construction industry?
thanks
Kevin

CIS remains a part of OPSF and will be available with the launch of 11.5.2
There has been talk of this being absorbed
into the core product but as far as I am
aware this is still only talk.
The only part, so far, of OPSF which has
gone core in release 11i is Gross Based VAT.

  • Constructions Industry - Use of SO BOM

    Hi,
We are using ECC 6 and my client is a constuction company.
The company is using SAP material no - material type DIEN and this is entered during SO creation.
We dont keep any inventory as the nature of the business is construction/service.
For example - we have SO - Construction of 2Storey Building  - Material No = C2S
There is a template that constitute the activity being done for C2S ( ie: Excavation, Pilling, BackPilling etc) which has its corresponding cost equivalent.
The sum up cost of the activity is the SO price which include some mark up.
At the moment, this activity is manually calculate and outside of SAP.
My client now want to incorporate the template/activity with cost  to SAP - the intention is that- when a Sales Order coming in. The template will automatically captured for that  order with the corresponding price et..
Not sure but it seems the concept is to activate the BOM.
Pls consider me as totally newbie on BOM, i understand its concept but i dont know how it will be done through SAP setting..
Appreciate if i got the right approach and value all the help of how to achieve it in SAP.
    Thanks in advance.
    She

    Hi She,
The requirement detailed by you is a typical requirement, which most of the customer wants irrespective of industry. This requirement cannot be and should not be addressed in SAP logically. The reason being that the cost of procurement will vary. In the example of Construction industry, labour price will vary from place to place withing same city, other charges like electricity consumed will also differ based on service provider, if the site is not easily approachable by regular or large teucks / containers, the cost of transportation will vary, and so on.....  This is a part of wish list a client will always have, but it is important to draw a line, beyond which even a development should not be proposed. The value will as it be required to be entered manually on most occasion, as there will be no standard price of procument.
Even if a thought is given for Development, the impact of development on the system, volume of added master data, time to be considered to trigger the event during transaction, feasiablity and system performance also require to be considered.

  • Construction industry doubt

    Hi friends,
my company is in the construction industry and are implementing ecc6.  they make buildings and facilities for the oil and gas sector.
the general process is that we receive a RFQ from the client, we bid and if we win the bid will be issued a PO.
i wanted to know what will be the SD process(correct me if i am wrong), which i presume will be
inquiry, quotation, sales order with DIP with WBS assignment which will create a WBS in PS or will it be a that once a project structure and WBS once created in PS will create SAles order?
    Regards,

Steps to be followed in Construction industry......
    1. Once you received the PO u have to create Quotation in T Code VA21.....
    2. Then Create Project Structure in PS Module (which includes all WBS elements).
    3. Assign WBS element to Sales order Item. (PS module will create WBS, only assignment of WBS has done in SD
    4. Create Sales Order With the Ref to Quotation.
    5. Create Billing Document.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Material master codification & inventory mgmt- construction industry

    Hi,
I am designing the process for a client in the construction industry. The implementation will include integration with PS module. The client is working on different projects and the materials requirement for each project differ from the other.
    Example:
Though i may have pipe at a broad level, the requirement of pipes is based on the diameter of pipes and this would ideally form multiple material codes.
I want to know, if any of you have come across such a scenario where creation of material master to the lowest level of specification will be very tedious. And also the same material specification may not be used in more than a project.
But at the same time, the client wants to track his inventory based on the specifications of pump received and issued / consumed.
    thanks

    hi,
would appreciate any help on this.
    thanks

  • Asset under construction in internal order

    Dear All,
can any one tell me how to create Asset under construction in internal order...
    Suresh patipati.

You must have a separate asset class for Asset Under construction(OAOA) with line item settlement selection.
Create an asset(AS01) under AUC asset class
Then create internal order through KO01 and in Settlement rule mention the
    Category as FXA
    Settlement Receiver: AUC Asset
% as 100% or as you require
    Save the entries.
Now enter the capital expenditure using this Internal order.  After you finish with the postings settle the internal order(KO88).  On Settlement the values are transferred to AUC asset from Internal order.
Now use AIAB & AIBU to distribute and Settle the AUC asset values between Main asset(s).  Here also in the settlement rule you must enter the settlement receivers.

  • Asset under Construction through Internal order- Functional deficit?

    Hi Experts,
I have created an internal order and all the expenses incurred for the asst under construction are being booked at this internal order.
While settling the internal order the system always picks up the month end date as the settlement date and hence the balance of internal Order is getting transferred to AUC on month end date (say31.07.2007).
    So,
The date of transfer of balance from internal order to AUC is month end date that is 31.07.2007.
But in Actuality the AUC got complited before month end (say 15..07.2007) and the Asset was put to use on 15.07.2007.
Now the system is not allowing to settle the AUC to Main Asset as on 15.07.2007 as the AUC was not existence on that date. <b>Error:</b> Posting not possible (Value date earlier than capitalization date).
I am able to transfer the balance in AUC to Main Assets as on 31.07.2007 but in this case my client is loosing the depreciation element on this asset from 15.07.2007 to 30.07.2007. Is this the functional deficit in SAP? Is there any way through which depreciation can be availed from 15.07.2007?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bijay kumar Deo

You can settle the AUC value in one period and posting can be made in another period. in the same you can give the different asset value date in KO88 screen. The only limitation is this possible only if the fiscal year is same.
Give the asset value date as 15.07.2007 in KO88
    Hope this will work

  • Asset Under Construction creation, Internal Orders,

    Hi,
We employ internal orders for collecting costs for an AUC. However, we have a requirement in which when an internal order is created for asset under construction, SAP has to automatically create an AUC asset and assign it in the settlement profile of the internal order. Is this possible? If so what configuration should I do.
    Thanks for your help.
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
Yes. It is very much possible. You will have to create an Investment profile for that and in the investment profile give the Asset class of the AUC. Do this in transaction OITA.
When this investment profile is entered in each Internal order you create, the system automatically creates an AUC asset to which the costs can be settled.
Read the documentation for Investment Management component in the IMG and SAP help. YOu will get what you need. Thanks.
    Thanks,
    Vishal.

  • Oracle Projects WBS and Construction Industry Projects

Hi, I would like to hear from anyone who can share example Work Breakdown Structures for Construction projects (e.g. high-rise commercial buildings, etc).
We currently have a process where we manipulate a Bill of Quantities in a spreadsheet and upload that in a summarized format (as a series of Trade Packages, etc) to Oracle. There is then a process to create the WBS and the Budget.
My query is around whether anyone has an alternative WBS-style for projects in a construction-oriented company. Because our WBS is based on Trades, it can get extremely long and unwiedly. Example below:
    0.TP0430 Concrete Supply & Place
    0.TP0431 Precast Concrete
    0.TP0610 Reo Supply
    0.TP0620 Reo Fixing
    etc, etc.
    thanks,
    Mike.

    Hi
When your invoice method is WORK (Time & Materials) you must run the process GDR (PRC: Generate Draft Revenue) before you run the process GDI (PRC: Generate Draft Invoice). That is because only the GDR process is calculating the billing amount and creates the RDL (Revenue Expenditure Line) for the Expenditure Items. Later on the GDI process select all un-invoiced RDLs and group them into the invoice lines.
When your invoice method is based on Events then GDI picks all un-invoiced events. It is not required that events will be included already in a draft revenue. Therefore, in that case the order you run the GDI & GDR processes does not matter.

  • Construction industry

i have worked on EC & O  mapping BOS and Real Estate sales but now we have another construction company approaching us for the following.
    Negotiating contracts for sales-based rent
    Managing sales reports
    Calculating and settling sales-based rent
    Categorizing of service charges incurred
Time-dependent apportioning of costs based on flexible measurements (fixed values, consumption, percentage share, and so on) or based on conditions in the contract
Time-dependent settlement participation of objects with the ability to exclude individual objects when assigning higherlevel objects
Clearing of costs that are not directly apportionable to the tenant
    Determination of vacancy costs
I would like data on the same in Help or otherwise plss do assist me with the same. Thank you for your time.

    maddy
    ([email protected])

    Maddy,
Most of the functionality you mentioned is in the RE-FX module under Sales-based Settlement. Link to section in help portal http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/77/d92ed1b79bbe4f9a79cc4dd9e4c449/content.htm
I believe there are also some standard IDES scenario scripts that show this functionality. In addition in the SAP Help Portal -> SAP Best Practices -> Industry Packages -> Professional Services -> V1.600 Localized for US -> Business Information -> Preconfigured Scenarios -> Commercial Real Estate...there is a scenario called Percentage Rent Lease. This is same as Sales-based lease and related process, and provides a business oriented step-by-step example of process and set-up.
