Cont Acq to File (scaled) results in unexpected behavior

I am writing an application based on the "Cont Acq to File(scaled).vi example". The DAQ card on my system is the PCI-MIO-16E-4. I am acquiring only 1-chanel with the following data acquisition parameters: Scan Rate = 30000, Buffer Size = 300000, Number of Scans to Read at a time = 1000. Since each scaled sample is 4 bytes and my scan rate is 30000 scan/sec, I would expect that with an hour of acquisition my file size would be approximately 432 MB (4*108000000 samples/hr). However my data file after an hour of recording only grows to about 1.2 MB. So i am assuming that i've lost lots of data. I am not getting a "buffer overflow" error and my "scan backlog indicator" averages about 2 during the entire hour...so i am
assuming that i am reading the data fast enough. Help

Thanks for your response. I found the problem on my program...but it now leads to more questions. The problem was that the output from the "AI Read" (a 2-D array) was wired into the input of "Indexed Array" but instead of indexing column 0 (i needed to extract chan 0) i instead was indexing row 0. The output from the "index array" is wired into my "File Write". After making the correction, my data file is growing at the right size. Now my question is what was written to file when the row 0 was indexed instead of column 0(the data seemed to be the correct value but lots of missing data)?

  • Add PXI 6508 to existing Cont Acq to file (binary)

I currently run LV Rt on a PXI chassis that has a PXI 6030E card installed. I have modified the example vi: "Cont acq to file (binary).vi" that NI provides as a DAQ example , to acquire 6 analog channels. I now want to append digital data to the binary stream and save to disk. I'll be reading in 50 digital lines using the PXI-6508 card.
I'd like to know how I might add the digital data acquisition inside my existing loop, make sure that the digital lines are appended to teh analog data, and if possible, I'd like to use a digital signal coming into te PXI 6508 to trigger data acquisition (rather than jhust running at the 240S/s that i currently run).
I have attached my existing code for the data acquisition.
Basically this code controls the release of a sled chair in which a human subject sits. the subject initiates release of the chair by a joystick, a laser fixation point is turned on and off at various times, and data from the joystick as well as various linear acclerometers is acquired. The data acquistion loop is in frame three of the main sequence. You'll notice that i am using some of the digital lines of the PXI-6030E but want to include many more digital lines by using the 6058
    cheers

    Hello,
You would just need additional port configs and some port reads for the ports on the 6508 you are using. Appending this data to the end of the analog data is fine. When writing binary data, the only thing that is important about the formatting is that you read it back in the same format you wrote it. You might look at some of the digital-only examples as well as some of the analog input with start trigger examples to combine some of these concepts.
Also, if you have more questions about this, you might try positing this question to the general data acquisition group. This sort of operation would behave the same way in Windows as it would in RT, and you would get a larger audience there for more possible responses.

The usual cause of that type of error is incorrect programming of the web server. The file is being sent with the wrong content-type, and since the browser uses that to determine how to handle the file, it does not treat it correctly. You could try the extension Force Content-Type to correct the content-type of that file.

  • File.ftp.FTPEx: 501 Unexpected reply codeUnknown extension in database file name

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to place file in the iSeries library folder and for this I am using a receiver file adapter with the following config, FYI, I am not using any FCC
    Target Directory : /QSYS.LIB/XXXXX.LIB/
    File Name Scheme : FILENAME.FILE
As I am doing this config for the first time I am using the following SCN discussion as my reference,

but i am still getting the error message at the receiver channel as below
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server 'XXXXXX:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 501 Unexpected reply codeUnknown extension in database file name.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor.
Please let me know if anyone has anymore suggestions.

    Hi Kalyan,
The File Name extension that you configured is incorrect I think.  Can you try to change the extension to .txt and try once.
    File Name Scheme : FILENAME.FILE

Using Firefox 3.6.20 and Windows XP Home SP3. Firefox sporatically deletes bookmarks from the bookmarks toolbar. Additionally, when I try to import from a saved HTML file, Firefox does not import the complete file. Results are inconsistent.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

"My present project is somewhat similar to Display and Output Acq'd File.vi. But I don't clearly know how it works. My questions are:
    1. What will happen if the data-reading from file is faster than output-generation from buffered data?
    2. How does it match pace of reading and that of generation, and in which vi does the matching achieve?
    3. Is it possible to get these control information, like interrupt or DMA status in labview application?

I attached a bmp that illustrates how to read and write simultaneously from one file. The VI is using notifiers (under the advanced palette) to synchronize reader and writer loops.
Note that the Wait function in the reader loop is irrelevant because the Wait on Notifier function blocks until data is available. This forces reader to be at least as slow as writer.

The NI example Cont Acq&Graph Voltage-Analog SW Trigger.vi takes one second of data. I need to take much more and can't figure out how to increase the acquisition time.

  • The file server connection has unexpectedly closed down

I am connected to a small network. I had been connecting fine for quite some time but as of yesterday I keep getting this message after 10-15 minutes of logging into the network server:
"The file server xxxxxx has unexpectedly closed down."
And where I have placed the x's is the name of our network sever.
What are some reasons why this keeps happening and what are some solutions?

Affected computers are ones prior to G5 series after Mac OS X Server 10.4.9 Update or Mac OS X 10.4.9 Update was completed. Workarounds I translated from the Apple Japan site is at your own risk when you perform them. You need to restart the computer after the procedure.
    CASE 1:
When accessing from Mac OS 9.x to Mac OS X Server and you copies a file to the server, the link is down.
Step 1. Disable AFP service and other services.
Step 2. Download "MacOSXSrvrCombo10.4.8PPC.dmg" from Apple Web site and mount it.... This includes the original step 2) and 3)
Step 3. Display the contents of "MacOSXSrvrCombo10.4.8PPC.mpkg" within "Mac OS X Server 10.4.8 Combined Update"
    Step 4. Expands "MacOSXSvrCmbBase10.4.8PPC.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz"
    Step 5. Replaces "Archive/System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app"
    with "/System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app"
    CASE 2:
When accessing from Mac OS 9.x to Mac OS X and you copies a file to the server, the link is down.
Step 1. Disables File Sharing service.
Step 2. Download "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8PPC.dmg" from Apple Web site and mount it.... This includes the original step 2) and 3)
Step 3. Display the contents of "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8PPC.pkg" within "Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combined Update "
    Step 4. Expands "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8PPC.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz"
    Step 5. Replaces "Archive/System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app"
    with "/System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app"
Another person solved by deleting AFP related passwords or AppleShare password via launched Keychain Access utility.

  • Unexpected Behavior error while creating a connection in IDT

    Hi Everyone,
I have created a connection on top of a database using ODBC.
I could able to see the connection in IDT.
I have mentioned the user name and pw correctly  and tried testing the connection and got the error "unexpected behavior"
    PFA error.
what could be the reason? any idea?
    Thanks.

I find this 32-bit vs. 64-bit ODBC somewhat confusing.  I know you aren't dealing with Crystal Reports, but this blog post does provide some clarity.  It has a link to this Microsoft knowledge base article from which I quote...
A 64-bit version of the Microsoft Windows operating system includes the following versions of the
Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Data Source Administrator tool (Odbcad32.exe):
The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder.
The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder.
One other warning.  In my experience I have found that you cannot run both the 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC admin tools at the same time.  If you have one running and try and start the other one it will just bring up the one you already had running.
To make sure I know which instance I am in at any give time I have created a dummy data source that corresponds to the instance; 32-bit or 64-bit.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Unexpected behavior of Foreach Loop in SSIS 2012

I have come across the unexpected behavior of Foreach Loop in SSIS 2012. While testing package for invalid folder (path asdf:\Vishal_Work does not exists in this case) for source files.
I observed that the control does not enters into Foreach Loop, but also it does not fails the task. The task Foreach Loop runs successfully, though folder was invalid.
The package did not throw any warning regarding invalid folder, but for the unmatched file pattern.
My concern is ‘why Foreach Loop in SSIS did not failed even if folder was invalid or not exists?’

The warning is "The For Each File enumerator is empty. The For Each File enumerator did not find any files that matched the file pattern, or the specified directory was empty."
The warning message states the specified directory was empty, though it does not extists.
We can handle this scenario through script task easily, but I really wonder why Foreach loop does not validate the folder. It is loophole in Foreach loop?
I would not classify it as loophole. I actually agree with Russ, it was a design decision on the side of the development team.
But you may freely file it as a bug or suggestion at MS Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com
I would vote it up because I see how it can lead to undesired package behavior (logical flaw).

  • Unexpected behavior on 5.1.19 Select query

    Hello There,
We are seeing an unexpected behavior on 11.2.5.1.19 where we are expecting our query should response “X” number of records while it response us back with less number of records in some situation. While looking to the change log we did notice that a fix has been added to 11.2.5.1.25 as follows:
“Fixed a bug that would return DB_NOTFOUND while searching for an existing item using a cursor on a non-sorted duplicate btree database. [#19210]”
We were wondering whether that fix could resolve this issue or not? If yes, is there a way we can get a Patch to apply and validate so that we can move to 11.2.5.1.25 or newer versions.
Here is what we are doing, Within an application we have two threads, One is Inserting/Updating record in the table while the other one is selecting, and all DB operations are done in transaction. Select thread comes after certain time whenever a condition is satisfied. Although it work fine most of the time but there are situation where select response with fewer records that we expected, that causes our program to died as expected. However, if we query the Database (using dbsql) after the application died using the same select query/criteria we could able to select the exact same number of records that we were expecting to see. We are not sure what is going wrong here, any help is appreciated.
    Regards & Thanks

    Hi Rittick,
I have made some modifications to the example program ex_sql_multi_thread.c,
based on the information you sent in email. So far I can not reproduce the
problem either. This does look like something we have seen before:
Berkeley DB lost data sometimes when I ran the example ex_sql_multi_thread
but it is difficult to pinpoint without an exact reproducer. One thought is
if you can try the application with the latest Berkeley DB release which
is: 5.3.15. Some race conditions were fixed in that release and since you can
reproduce the behavior with 5.1 and 5.2 you should be able to verify if
it is present or not in 5.3.15.
    Thanks,

  • DNS SRV Proxy Lookup and Failover Mechanism / Unexpected Behavior

    Group,
I came across some unexpected behavior yesterday I was wondering if someone could help shed some light on the problem. In my DNS I created this record: _sip._upd.platautofinance.com which when I do a query using MX Toolbox it is correctly reporting the following:
On the SPA504 I have programmed the SRV records into the system using the following:
So here is the issue, the phones will register correctly to the primary server but after a length of time ALL the phones will abandon ship and jump to the secondary server and stay there. I have to manually shut the secondary down, reboot the endpoints at which point they will re-register with the primary. So I think I need to understand the mechanism a bit better. Here is what I can think of:
The phones are not using the primary DNS service record providers DNS servers, we are using OpenDNS instead of Network Solutions <-- Unlikely because the SPA would not be able to resolve the SIP SRV records / servers at all with a broken DNS resolution. I can tell by dropping from the primary to the secondary that resolution is taking place on the phone because they are jumping between the right ones.
My understanding is the proxy fallback interval should have the phone register (and they should be checking periodically if the primary is available again and if so, re-register the to the lowest-weighted server) but that's not happening without a manual reboot. Once on the secondary they want to stay there.
My firewall for both the primary and secondary servers do not answer ICMP.
So the question is: why do the SPA phones think the primary is offline? What is the mechanism or criteria the SPA uses to determine a server is offline and then rolling to the secondary? Why do they want to stick around the secondary which is using only a best effort connection when we have a bonded T on the primary?
Thanks as always for your help and input group! Appreciate your time.

    Hello Adam,
I believe it will be easier if you call SBSC and ask the questions directly. The questions are very good and exact. I will try to answer shortly. Assuming you use only CCA to configure the system.
    1. If you have set dns for your internet connection it should work, you may try with different dns servers. Please delete the SIP trunk and recreate it.
    2. Please delete the SIP trunk and recreate it.
    3. If you need to configure more codecs through CCA you may send feature request using envelope button of the CCA.
I hope the above answers will be helpful although very short. If they are not helpful please contact SBSC and open a case.
    Best regards,
    Alex

generates an App-V package with the "basic" Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.), along with Visio and Project. That part is fine.
If I remove the Product elements for Project and Visio, I expect that a "basic" Office package will be created. However, Visio and Project are still in the package, and they are indeed usable. We have limited licenses for Project and Visio, so
I would like them not to be deployed to every machine.
I have tried giving the two configuration files their own source folders, that is, running the download command once for each configuration file and telling it to download to two different folders... same results.
This is similar to John Marcum's follow-up question at
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/c9462446-7744-4e3e-8c25-dbcd185a17e4/creating-lync-and-onenote-appv-packages?forum=officesetupdeploy

Kazzan's reply technically does work, and it is a viable option. However, that reply led me to wonder what the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) is doing to a machine that makes generating different packages difficult or impossible.
I found that the ODT leaves files behind in the current user's Temp directory, after the package generation is finished. At least one of these folders (named Microsoft Office 15) contains the file system contents of the App-V package. So, I decided
to clear the Temp directory in between runs of the Office Deployment Tool. Simply clearing this directory was not enough to solve the problem, but I'm still doing it as part of the build process.
Running Process Monitor showed me activity in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun. Deleting this entire key does not appear to be necessary, and I'm not sure what that would do if you actually used Office Click-To-Run on the same machine on which
you're running ODT.  So, I deleted just these keys:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\Configuration
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\ProductReleaseIDs
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\Scenario\APPVPACKAGE
Deleting those keys, along with the Temp directory cleanup, is sufficient to let me build multiple Office 2013 App-V 5 packages on the same computer.
