Contact Display problem in my BB Curve 9220

Hello guys..
I recently bought a BB curve 9220. When someone call me at that time caller name not display (Caller Name already added in my contact) only caller number displayed.
In short sometimes Caller name display and sometimes not display.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

There could be any one of four solutions... Try these:
1. Make sure you set your own country code at Phone dialer Screen > Options > Smart dialing.
Set your Country Code in this format: "+xx" where xx = your country code. Some countries have two or three digit Country Codes. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* In the US, set this Country Code as "+1", and place your local area code in the proper box (this normally the default setting in a new BB).
2. At the same location, change the National Number Length to the number of digits for your country (since some countries will have less than 10 as set as the default in the BB). Find out the total digits, minus the country code. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* For example, some countries have a total number to 8 (plus 3 for country code). You would enter "8".
3. You may have "Content Protection" set on your Address Book.
OS5 devices: Look at Options > Security > General Settings. Scroll down to Content Protection > Include Address Book = NO.
OS6 devices: Homescreen > Options > Security > Encryption > UNcheck the box next to Encrypt.
4. Go to Options on your device > Security Options > Encryption > Include contacts set to "No"

  • Contact display problem : N85

    Hey there,
I have been using nokia for quite sometime now. About sometime back, my jaws dropped once the N85 was released. As a big time mobile-freak, i purchased the N85 as soon as it came out. Its a brilliant phone, i must say.
Recently, when i was travelling i had to change a number of sim cards. And i usually store all my contacts in my SIM memory rather than phone memory, for obvious reasons.
Now, the problem which i've got is that, once i put my main SIM card back into the phone, it doesn't display all my contacts. Supposing, if i have 250 contacts, it just displays around 130 of them. I have no clue where the others have gone! Just to check if the numbers are there in the SIM, i put my SIM in my spare 6030, and that perfectly showed that there was no problem with my SIM and showed all my contacts without any missing.
I've done every possibly method possible but nothing has helped me. I've also re-setted the factory settings like 3 times so far, but no use. In the 4 months of my usage of my N85, i've sent it for repair through my warranty for 4 times. And these people take 2 weeks to just reload the software and give it back to me! .
Anyone there to help me? Any possible 'home-made' way to get my contacts back? They are there in the SIM, but it ain't getting displayed.
    Thank You.

well, in n85 if you select a contact and press copy, it doesnt ask you an option of transferring all the contacts to phone memory or sim memory. jus the one contact would be moved .
if i mark all, only the half contacts which are being displayed will b moved, and the other half remain un-known.
and what do you mean by duplicate contacts? the same contact in both the phone and the SIM memory right? In that case, i do not have any number as such. But, my question is, even if i do have any number stored both in the phone and the sim memory, shouldn't both be displayed at least? in my case, nothing is being displayed. just a few contacts...

  • Issue with Blackberry Curve 9220

    Hi,
I have a problem with the blackberry curve 9220 joy stick or laser (do not know what to call it exactly - phone terminology). I could see the laser light while switching the phone ON and then later it disappears.  Due to this I'm unable to navigate the screen through the joy stick. This is becoming very difficult to make phone calls nor for any usage per say. Is there something wrong and needs an urgent attention?
+ I agree about 3 months ago the phone fell into a mug of water and after a day it worked with no problem till date.. Need your help and insights to see if I can put the phone to sleep and buy another one.....
I really love this phone and wanted some solution to make it work.
    Need help

Up until that point, I thought that I would have useful advice for you...but that information changed everything. There were steps to try ("the rice trick"), but they needed to be done 3 months ago...too late now.  Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing those processes reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later (which sounds like your situation). And everything in between.
    Good luck!

  • Has anyone had a problem with their contact display on messages?

I have turned off other contact groups, but when texting I get all groups displayed when I search for names. Not only this, some of them seem to have downloaded name info from sender! I also now get some email contacts displayed in text name line. Very odd! Never had this problem before update.
I can't seem to find a way to switch this off. Somehow seems to be an iCloud mess up.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, IE8, Dreamweaver CS4 and all is fine and identical to how it was under Vista 64.
So whatever the issue is, it's probably resolvable.

even it gets hang when there is a missed call.
anyone plz assist me solve this problem.
    <Personal Content Removed>

  • Contact display name problem

Since upgrading to ML I'm having a problem with contact display names in Mail. When I go to compose an email, some contacts have a problem. EG for "John Smith" email [email protected], I type in smith and autocomplete. But Mail displays "[email protected] Smith" as the name. When I look in Address Book the contact card for John Smith is formatted properly. Any ideas?

2100 SMS messages is a lot ! On a Series 40 phone you will be lucky if you get more than 400 messages in your inbox.
I think you should ask your question in the smartphone discussion /discussions/board?board.id=smartphones as the behavoir you describe is something not seen on normal (S40) Nokia phones.

Is there anyone who got this call from Apple?
I dont' feel any problem on display, but wondering what could be problems.

    Hey there,
Actually  my battery of curve 9220 is dead, so I have gone to your HCL service center in Noida, India (T- touch), so they told me about two options for it either I should purchase orginal costing ₹2500 or compatible one costing ₹1450. How come can service centre of yours can sell compatible fake batterries? I did not buy the either one as I was not sure about the geninune battery, but this is something which is depliting my faith on your brand for after sales service. Kindly look into the matter. I also want to know where I can buy the original battery in Delhi/Noida India and how to check for a geninue orginal battery? Kindly help me ASAP all my communications are a halt due to this battery problem, otherwise I have to discontinue the legendary phone due to your after sales service as I am very annoyed with it. Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given the condition your BB seems to be in, you may or may not be able to take a backup at all...sometimes things are in just too bad of shape. But, Safe Mode might help you do so:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see if you can take a backup (instructions for which you can find via the link in my auto-sig below on this post).
Then I suggest you do a clean OS reload. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • CURVE 9220 HEATS UP AND DRAINS BATTERY LIFE

My blackberry curve 9220 gets really hot and starts to drain the battery .
the entire battery life is dained out in less than 3 hours
i try to cool it off but it doesn't really work ,
and there are no applications runnig at the back except the default ones example - phone , browser , bbm and messages .
and the weird thing is that when i switch off the mobile network the the battery stops draining
can someone please help i really need my emails, bbm and whatsapp back
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given your description, I'd deduce low/poor signal from your mobile service provider. Digital devices modulate their power consumption depending on the strength of signal they receive from the carrier tower. Lower signal strength/quality, higher battery drain. To firmly check that, you need to contact your mobile service provider as it's there network that is the cause. It is possible that they have some problems in the areas you are in.
You could also attempt to boot into Safe Mode, so as to suppress all 3rd party apps from auto-launching (even if you don't see them in the AppSwitcher ribbon, they can be running):
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Its getting automatic switched off while talking or while chatting, and this is very irritating.i visited authorized service center 6 times. But they only upgrade the version, but still its getting switched off. and i have not got any solution till now. if i will not get any solution so i will be force to change the entire phones to other company's handsets in my company.
    Looking for prompt response,

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First off...refer to this information posted at the top of every page of this site:
There will be no official answers here, as this is not a channel for any formal support.
I recommend an OS reload as a starting point...
Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. After installing the OS package to your PC, please remeber to delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1

i m trying to get connect to this no. since last two days. this no. is either busy or not getting replied. i tried this no. in last two days for more than 50 times atleast. today mr. chintan has given me one more no. of mr. prashant ((personal info removed)13). he asked me for the WO no. and told me that some one will get back to me. i got a call from mithakali service centre and same reply - one more week. now mr. prashant is also not replying my phone. i m really not understanding a phone like blackberry which i hardly used for 4 weeks is lying with service centre since almost last four weeks. now in no way this phone is acceptable to me. now this long message is my last hope. i hope to recieve at least a reply as this is the longest message i have ever drafted in my life and that too for a bloody phone like blackberry. black service and black associates.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
As a user-to-user community, no one here can answer your question with any level of authority whatsoever. BlackBerry provides zero front line support to end users, including warranty...all support starts with the carriers, authorized resellers, and authorized service centers, all who can escalate cases into BlackBerry at no charge to the end user.
So, your escalation path is not here, in these forums. Rather, it is through your service center and/or place of purchase...even if they may have so far been unhelpful. You have no free path by which to bypass them, and should be escalating to their management levels.
There is something called incident support, but it costs to just ask the initial question, since you are bypassing the contract you signed upon purchase. If you wish to investigate that, you can review it here:

There also might be some good reading here:

  • Curve 9220 Restarting again and again

Hi I have a blkberry curve 9220 model and its been 10 months i have been using it...but since last 1 month my phone has started getting rebooted it self.
It suddenly blacks out wd the red light flashing and then it goes off...and i have to take out the battery and restart it.
at times it gets restarted and again goes off instantly..with crossing the limit that the phone gets restarted 10 times in an hr!!!!!
    Plzzzzzz help...its really irritating..!!
Can anyone suggest a probable cause or solution to this!!!

    Hello duafalak
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
The problem might be because of any Installed third party application or the media card can you try removing the media card to see if that helps !
If that fails I would suggest you to Reload the OS to rule out any Software issue , But after reload leave all third party application for a few days to see if they are the culprit ,Use a selective restore i;e only Contacts and calender entries don't install any apps from your backup. If problem don't appear  install only BlackBerry Native apps. So first do a backup using Desktop Software then Reload your device Software , for help refer to this Knowledge base :
KB03621 : How to Reload BlackBerry Device Software and application using BlackBerry Desktop Software
Please try it and let us know of your progress.
