Content Server 6.0 Editor access

I have some cs portlets, some allow you to add/create articles, others are simply "content" spaces using just the rich text field. How can we give access to community managers to change that content without giving them access to the content server explorer?
M

Yeah - I sympathize. Took me a while to get hip to this.
To your point, there are publisher folder objects (and security...) and portal admin folder objects (and security...)
You have a portlet template (in the global portal objects admin folder structure). The user needs to have rights to the template in order to create portlets (also needs rights to underlying web service and server)The portlet template is (by default) bound to a publisher object in a publisher folder (/plumtree/portlet templates/_announcement/en in this case)The portlet templates can have their security bound to the base publisher portlet folders (if you look on security on a publisher portlet instance you'll see this)... this will make more sense later.A user community can create published content in a destination folder in publisher (EX: /plumtree/myAwesomeClient)When the user creates a portlet instance from a portlet template (from the portal admin objects) you tell it your destination folder in publisher (/plumtree/myAwesomeClient) - the act of naming the portlet instance will create (or should create...) a folder with a "like name" - EX: I call my portlet "Eric's test portlet." I should now see... /plumtree/myAwesomeClient/Eric's test portletCool bit... because you've bound the Portlet template's security to the Publisher object's security the user SHOULD be left with admin rights to the content within that new publisher folderConfused yet? :) Took me a while to really grasp this...
What you should get out of this is...
An instance of a portlet (in your global portal admin hierarchy)A publisher folder (in the publisher folder structure)In theory - the two sets of security should be tied togetherThe act of editing the admin prefs on the portlet should automatically update the published content.
I only really figured this out once I wrote my own publisher-based portlet templates. Just step through the idea...
portlet templates are just "links" back to publisher templateswhen you create a portlet from a template security should be tied to the publisher destination folderongoing to let people admin content they need to have rights to...the publisher folder (publisher folder structure)the portlet instance (portal admin folder structure)the users don't need access to the publisher explorer portlet - editing admin prefs on the portlet should be enoughI'm still not sure I explained that very well...
Thanks,
Eric

  • Accessing pdfs through jsp content tags from content server!!!!!

    hi,
    i have uploaded few images in content server which i can access by dis syntax
    <ad:adTarget query="adAltText='intraday'" height="200" width="200"/>
    or
    <ad:adTarget query="image_name=='first'"/>
    but for accessing pdfs..
    <ad:adTarget query="title=='InsuranceDataSheet'"/><br>
    dis syntax doesnt work..it only provides me a link on the jsp page on click of which i can go to that pdf..
    what should i change?
    kindly help..

    By default, only image and text content have configured renderers for <ad:adTarget>, <ad:render>, and <ph:placeholder>; for all others, it does just print a link, as you're seeing. However, you can write and configure additional content renderer classes for other mime types (e.g. appliation/pdf). See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14238/placeholders.htm#i1006120 for details.

  • WebDAV Access: SAP Content Server

    Hello everyone,
    I would like to use SAP Content Server to store the courses created in LSO Authoring Environment. (Client wants it this way...i have no clue why). Now in order to use SAP Content Server here, the content server must support WebDAV access. So does the content server support WebDAV, if yes -- how to enable it and how to browse it.
    Thanks,
    GLM

    If the documents are stored in DMS with Content Server as the repository, you should be able to access them using the DMS connector to KM.  This is a business package which, when installed, exposes document stored in DMS to KM as a KM repository.  Then you can browse it like any other KM repository.  There are a lot of posts in this forum and others about the DMS connector.
    You can also try to enable WebDAV if you Content Server is using a MaxDB database.

  • Content Server problem after 5.0.2 upgrade

    Hi,
    We've just upgraded our staging environment from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 and have lost all branding. The diagnostic script reports the following error:

    ======================
    I tried resolving both the file location and the http address from within the Content Server box and was able to without problem so I know it's not these it can't see.
    I checked the pcs.log and the following error is reported:
    ======================

    It appears that the Content Server is trying to access this xml file via the public url for the image server which, due to firewall configurations in this environment, it won't be able to do. I'd like to be able to change how it looks for this file to be http://<SERVERNAME>/imageserver rather than http://<PUBLICURL>/imageserver
    Where is it getting this from for me to change it?
    Thanks in advance for your advice, hope my problem description makes sense :-)
    Anita

    Hi Diane,
    No, we haven't fully resolved this yet. In addition to the issue listed we've come across a number of others that look like problems from install. We've reached the point where it's looking more effective to try and uninstall Content Server and do a clean install from scratch rather than debug every little thing.
    As part of the new install we're changing the architecture to create an internal ImageServer on the CS server and then use a scheduled task to push everything out to the external ImageServer on the portal box overnight. This should get around a number of the firewall and dns issues currently making communication between the two quite difficult.
    We recently installed another 5.0.2 portal in a different environment and have had none of the same issues with it so we're a little perplexed. When we get this resolved I'll be happy to write a note about what it was. In the meantime if you get anywhere with yours please let us know.
    cheers

  • Content Server - character display problem

    We have a portal where the content is all in Italian.
    When users are adding content in Content Server, the HTML editor shows international characters correctly.
    But when they are published, these characters mess up and do not seem to be getting encoded properly.
    How can I get international characters to display properly in Content Server??

    Hi Andrew,When you add content in Content Server 5.0, the text is encoded in UTF-8 (an encoding of Unicode). Content Server uses Unicode so that content in any language of the world can be added to Content Server. However UTF-8 characters will not be recognized as UTF-8 by most browsers unless you also add a "meta" tag which identifies the data as UTF-8.
    The meta tag looks like this:<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    Content Server makes adding the tag easy with a feature in the Presentation Template editor. Just "right-click" on the rich-text editor window and select the "Insert HTML shell" menu item. This will give you the proper <html>, <head>, and <body> tags that go with a properly formed HTML page. The meta tag will also be automatically inserted inside the <head> tag.

  • Content Server records

    Hi guys,
    I have an ECC system (SAP ERP 6.0 EHP6) whereby among many functionalities, Record Management System (RMS) is used. Various RMS attachments like jpeg, pdf and doc are stored in Content Server. Normally, we access these attachments thru docid. The attachments are saved in the MaxDB (version 7.6) database of the Content Server. I wish to know a few things regarding MaxDB content:
    How are the attachments kept in the MaxDB database? Can I view them in the database (like in Oracle we have BLOB fields)? I'm using Database Studio and SQL Studio for MaxDB. For example, in SQL Studio I can see 'schemas' DOMAIN, SUPERDBA and SYSINFO, each containing several tables. Which one contain the relevant tables? I suppose the docid is being kept in some table as well.
    regards.

    Hi Suraj,
    Refer to the information from thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3352909
    You may perform SQL queries on tables starting with COMPONENTS*.
    Hope this helps

  • Internationalization in content server

    I am developing a portal application that needs to support English/French. So far I found ways to translate everything except content coming from content server.
    I was planning to create entry templates where content authors would enter the content in both languages, in the presentation template I was going to use a pcs tag to display the proper content based in user locale. Is that possible?
    I haven't found a way to pass/read user properties in content server?
    Is there any other way to do internationalization in content server?
    Thanks

    The Content Server's Presentation Template is only evaluated at the time of publishing. This generates a file that is stored outside of the Content Server which is generally accessed through a webserver. This means that you cannot use the Presentation Template language to change the content based on the user viewing the page.
    The Content Server does not currently have tools dedicated to supporting localization of published pages. You can use the Content Server to manage content in multiple languages. By publishing a Content Item as a JSP or ASP page you can dynamically choose the content to display to the user. Or you could create two Content Items, one representing each language, and direct the user to the appropriate page.

    Hi Romain Testu, Jstorz & srinathmenon:
    Thanks for the information on the 2 exes that I need to run (IdcServer.exe & IdcAdmin.exe). I ran these two exes from the command prompt as suggested by srinathmenon (I first ran IdcServer next IdcAdmin). However, I did not find any new windows services showing up, with any similar sounding name.
    I once again visited the http://localhost/idc, and when I clicked on the picture of the LOCK, I found a new difference from before. Earlier, I was getting an error message as soon as I clicked on the LOCK. Now, when I clicked on the LOCK, I got a prompt for Username and Password. I typed the default sysadmin & idc. Then I got logged onto a window which says "Oracle Content Server", with three Tree-view dropdowns on the left (My Content Server, Browse Content and Search).
    But in the main part of this Oracle Content Server window, it gives the following error message: -
    Content Server Request failed..Unable to retrieve page. Permission denied. Address 127.0.0.1 is not an allowable remote socket address
    Could you please suggest what could be wrong here?
    Thanks,

  • SAP Content Server HTTP Interface ignores secKey

    Hello.
    I try to implement an own Content Server with the help of this url: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/DE/f5/9561f5f3b111d1955b0000e82deb58/frameset.htm
    The problem is, if try to test these functions on the SAP CS, secKey will always be ignored. The parameters 'docProt', 'security' and 'Protection' are set to on.
    The function 'putCert ' also does not work and always show the error 'security.cpp(615): SsfVerfiyError 12'.
    Thanks for the help.
    Best Regards

    Hi Alexander,
    SAP KM always has to access on the architecture level where the document object model is defined. There is no generic repository manager (the connectory from KM to xy) for ArchiveLink or SAP Content Server.
    Repository managers access e.g. on the level of mySAp PLM DMS for which one of these connectors is available.

  • LSO AE - Content Server how to?

    If you have WebDAV Interface to your content management system you can integrate the Learning Portal into your existing intranet, which means SAP Enterprise Learning can run without SAP Netweaver Portal.
    WebDAV interfaces link the content management component with learning management software and the authoring environment.

  • Read only rights in a content server

    Hello, we have a content server which we can access from 2 different SAP systems.
    Now we want to secure the content server that read/write access is only possible from SAP system A, and from SAP system B we would like only to have read access.
    Working with certificates did not give till now any solution.
    From the moment we submit a certificate from server B, we can do read/write towards the content server
    Removing the certificate in CSADMIN on SAP system B will prevent reading of the content server.
    We run Contentserver 6.40 in a AIX5.3 /MaxDB 7.6 environment with adminsecurity in cs.conf set to 1
    Regards, Danny

    Yes this has been tried.
    When you have updated with system B and content looks like
    contRep-ZSTR057
    DefaultDocProt=r
    If you then go to system A and look into CSADMIN, you see also
    contRep-ZSTR057
    DefaultDocProt=r
    You could change this to for example on SYSTEM A to
    contRep-ZSTR057
    DefaultDocProt=ruc
    If you then go to system B in CSADMIN you wil also see
    contRep-ZSTR057
    DefaultDocProt=ruc
    the CSADMIN settings are stored in the file on the contentserver (Apache part) and not in SAP
    We were hoping that with the certificates we could do something.
    But as what I can tell after all test we have done is that a content server is standing on its own, and only link it has to identify systems is via a certificate.
    I have a user who says he has done this kind of a test on an other environment we have and there he was successfull, but we can not repeat the test, nor does the user know how he had set it up.
    That is why I am asking how this could be done.

  • How to restrict read access to certain document in stellent content server

    Hi,
    We are using stellent content server to store project documents. We would like to restrict access to certain confidential documents.
    Users with Read / Write permission should not be able to access but admins with RWDA permission should be able to access these confidential documents.
    Appreciate your inputs on this.
    Thanks,
    Nayana

    Without seeing your setup and environment its a bit hard..
    But...
    Make sure that user has read only access to public security group.
    You could setup an addition role with readOnly access and apply it those users.
    Or restrict there account to have Read only access.
    Remember if the user has Admin access on the Account but only readonly access on the security group then they will only have read only access on the files and visa versa.. :)
