Continous period, overwritten error

I am working for a project to counting every photon for about 10 seconds.
I used the pci-6602 and a computer with a 2.8Ghz Core i5-2300 CPU and a 16GB RAM.
The software is Measure studio 2010 SP1 and NI DAQmx 9.5.
But there will be an error:
Data was overwritten before it could be read by the system.
If Data Transfer Mechanism is Interrupts, try using DMA. Otherwise, divide the input signal before taking the measurement.
For average 300kHz input signal, the error appeared immediately, but for average 1kHz input signal, the error still appeared after 3-5 seconds.
Here is my setting:
myTask.CIChannels.CreatePeriodChannel(counterComboBox.Text, "",
                    Convert.ToDouble(minValueTextBox.Text),
                    Convert.ToDouble(maxValueTextBox.Text), edge,
                    CIPeriodMeasurementMethod.LowFrequencyOneCounter, 0.001, 4, CIPeriodUnits.Seconds);
        myTask.Timing.ConfigureImplicit(SampleQuantityMode.ContinuousSamples, 100000);
        myTask.CIChannels.All.DataTransferMechanism = CIDataTransferMechanism.Dma;
        myTask.CIChannels.All.DuplicateCountPrevention = false;
        myTask.Stream.ReadWaitMode = ReadWaitMode.Poll;
        myTask.Stream.ConfigureInputBuffer(1000000);
I tried many solutions and changed many setting, but the result didn’t changed.
I heard that the on board memory of pci6602 is small, but for 1kHz signal it still can’t work.
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks very much.

1. The basic idea is that instead of measuring the period between each individual photon detector pulse, you simply count the # of pulses occurring within a fixed interval.  The fixed interval would be a constant rate sample clock and you could use another counter to create it.  You may need to look into the "Duplicate Count Prevention" property because you will want to capture the many intervals in which 0 pulses occur.
2. Impossible for me to judge what resolution or format you need for your data.  In general, count-binning will give you a measurement of average photon activity per sampling interval.  If you get 10 counts in 1 msec, you'll only be able to see that as an *average* of 10 kHz.  Reality may be 10 pulses at > 100 kHz and a lot of idle time.
Freq or Period measurement on individual pulses gives you much more information about photon activity and you can also do some binning-like averaging after the fact.  But the occasional fast bursts may cause a data acq error.  The high precision trades off against the chance of losing all the data due to a data acq error.
If it was me, I'd lobby for a more suitable data acq board like an X-series and measure individual pulses.  But it may be that your particular experiments & studies don't demand that precision, in which case binning is a method that should work with the data acq board you've already got.

  • Retention Period Not maintained Error when Archiving

    Dear Experts,
i am trying to Archive the Archiving Object(MM_EKKO) but i have got the error below
    "Retention Period Not maintained" Error
i tried to read different forums on this issue but am not sure i understand why this error happens.
    i appreciate your fast response!
    best regards

    Hai,
In SPRO - IMG - MM - Purchasing - Define tolerance limit for archiving. In this maintain the residence time 1 & residence time 2 for the Purchasinh doc type & also with item category also.
    Define Tolerance Limit for Archiving
In this step, you specify how long external purchasing documents are retained unchanged in the database before being archived.
You can define two time periods, via which you control the archiving of the documents:
Residence time 1 for items without a deletion indicator
Before the deletion indicator is set for a document item, the system checks when the relevant item was last changed. In the process, a change in the PO quantity is taken into account in just the same way as a goods receipt, for example.
The date of the last change is compared with the current date. If no change has been made within the residence time 1 entered , the deletion indicator is set for the item.
Residence time 2 for items with a deletion indicator
For document items for which the deletion indicator was set manually or during the archiving run, the system checks how many days have elapsed since the deletion indicator was set.
The whole document is only archived if:
The deletion indicator has been set for all items of the document
None of the items have been changed during the residence time 2 entered - i.e. the last change is the setting of the deletion
The archived documents are then deleted from the database.

    hi,
pl go to OB52 and open the FI posting period for account type S.
you will find either 1000 or 0001 as the field status variant for which you can select the acccoutn type S. You need to know what is the field status variant for your comp code. You find out by going to OBY6 ( Comp code global settings ).
at OB52 you can maintain this way.
    1000 S zzzzzzzzz 1 2008 12  2008 13 2008 16 2008.

before i noticed these error messages happening in the background shell window of rdesktop, i tried to see if the problem was on the output itself, so i tried to play an mp3 to see if my amplifier was correctly pulling the signal from the arch box, and i couldnt play an mp3 either, but this may be related to smb:// errors.  i will tackle that one later.  finally i heard an error beep through my speakers which means archbox is outputting sound correctly, then i saw the error messages which is basically saying that something is tying up my audio device.
what could be tying it up?
    edit
    ok i ran lsof
    $ lsof /dev/snd/*
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME

    knotify4 1527 wolfdogg 19u CHR 116,3 0t0 7434 /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
after ending process of knotify the sound is back.  so do i check into a problem with knotify?  when i end the process, it does come back, so i wonder if the next time knotify has to output a sound this will happen again, or some condition unknown will cause it to happen again.
this could be a kernel problem correct?

  • 'Fiscal year period not expected error in BI 7.0

    Hi Guys,
When I am loading data into Target(DSO, CUBE) It gives a error 'Fiscal year period not expected'. I got same error when I am loading into any target. Source is ECC 6.0 and Target is BI 7.0.  I am extracting the data from FI/CO module. Could you pls help on this.
    Warm Regards,

Is that error 'Fiscal year period not expected' or 'Fiscal year variant K4 not expected'
If it is 'Fiscal year variant K4 not expected', then try the following
In BI, select source System --> Transfer Global Settings       (OR)
In transfer rules, select filed '0FISCVARNT' ---click on 'Tp' .... select radio button 'Constant' and enter K4..save & activate.                   (OR)
in ECC -- SE16--> check wether table T009 has value K4..If not enter new value (K4)

  • Period Type gives error in ESS when is set to 3 (Bi-weekly)

    Hi all,
When I set the Period type in the Profile to 3 (Bi-weekly) I receive the following error while recording time in the Portal.
    Error: PROFILE_NOT_INITIALIZED
It's also happen for period time 1 and 4, but not for period time 2 (Weekly).
In R/3 it's work fine. Any idea why is this? Or how can it be solved??
I need to use Period type 3.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I did not solved the problem. You did it ...
I was trying to implement ESS for CATS, and this was not working, I saw your thread, and tried wat was working for you.
This was at this time (ESS implementation is a Proof Of Concept at this stage) sufficent for us to have perform screenshots.
I did never put any development request, but my understanding is that SAP improves his product based on customer's requests. If many users request the same, they will develop this in a next release. So this should be free of charge, if you wait until it becomes standard.
But I would not confirm the message untill they takes the engagement of the developments, as this is a bug from my point of view. Is this limitation described in the documentation ? No ? => this is a bug ...

    Regards,

    You can try this.
Go to OVA2, select "A-Sales Header" and double click on Procedures.  Again select "10-Inquiry/Quotation" and double click on Fields.  Now tick the box "Warning" for VBAK / BNDDT

  • BPC 7.5 NW PERIODIC Measure returns error in new environment only

Recently we created a new BPC environment/server. This new environment has had HANA installed and is going through testing. In our testing we have incurred the following issue, but we are not sure if it is HANA related or just a result of something in the new environment not being set up correctly.
Our BPC LEGAL/Consolidations application is a YTD application. A basic EVDRE was created with Time in Column (expanded to month), and Entity, Account, Profit Center and Reporting Currency in the Row. The EVDRE is first expanded with the MEASURE set to YTD. The correct results are returned.  The MEASURE is then changed to PERIODIC and the EVDRE expanded. The result is an error - "Errors found retrieving data".
This same EVDRE opened in any of our other environments does not result in an error and returns the correct periodic results.  I have verified that the time dimension is exactly the same in the working and non-working environment. I also had the BW team verify with UJA_FORMULA_APP that the contents of the table for LEGAL/Periodic.  I had them pull out the Formulas from a working and non-working environments. It appears they are the same.

Does anyone know where else we should look? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
If when you launch BPC Server Manager, you do not get "Cannot connect to ABAP server", this means user BPC_SYSADMIN is connecting correctly. And assuming you had invalid RFC user in BPC Web, your issue is then only with user BPC_USER (or BPC_ADMIN if the issue is with BPC Admin client only)
If you do get that error, it means the error is for more than one user, so I would look for something big missing.
In point 1 you mention domain users, make sure in BPC Server Manager under "reset login credentials" that you do not have windows users specified there as it's a common mistake, those should be your 3 BW communication users
On BPC .Net server, if you installed SAP GUI, run an MDX_PARSER test in SM59 to check librfc32.dll is working correctly
Also quite common issue it is possible your background users have wrong authorizations; in PFCG check the roles SAP_BPC_SYSADMIN SAP_BPC_ADMIN and SAP_BPC_USER were copied to customer namespace and that the role are active (user tab should be displaying green light) and assigned to the background communication users
Also check the background users are not locked in SU01 (if they are locked the password saved on .Net server was or is not matching the real password defined on NW server)
    Thanks,
    Julien

  • VIP Swap and 'The semaphore timeout period has expired' errors

We use the VIP swap technique of rolling out new versions of our apps. These apps use an Azure SQL Database. Starting sometime early this year we started seeing SQL Database errors during the VIP swap. The problem is very consistent, if we have database
activity during the VIP Swap it is very likely to generate one or more of these errors. As you can see below in our custom formatted version of the error the actual SQL Error number is 121 and the text is 'The semaphore timeout period has expired':
SQLError Number:121, Message:A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)
We do utilize the Enterprise library for transient error handling and I have seen these errors from time to time and random points, but the fact that this is very consistent with a VIP swap bothers me. Since both deployments exist before and after the VIP swap
why would there be any interruption in SQL Database connectivity? Our apps consist of a Web App, a few Web Services, and a few Worker Roles. I have seen this error from all of them at different times during VIP swaps.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Curious,
    Thank you for your question.
I am trying to involve someone more familiar with this topic for a further look at this issue. Sometime delay might be expected from the job transferring. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Iric

You have to create an expense type for Estimated cost.
Go to Travel Management-> Master data-> Create Expense Type
Maintain an Expense type called Estimated cost and select "Estimated cost,no reimbursmenent to employee" from "amounts are" drop down.
Assign this expense type to a wage type.
You will not get error once u maintain this expense type.

I am experiencing a periodic error when accessing a Servlet running under

  • Parked document posting - Budget period screen field error

    Dear Experts
We are working on FM BCS, While posting of the parked document through Transaction FBV0 we are getting the below error message.
"Field BSEG-BUDGET_PD. does not exist in the screen SAPMF05A 0302
    Message no. 00349
    Diagnosis
The specified field does not exist on the screen.
    Procedure
    Check your batch input data
We gone through the error help information and checked field status groups and found everything is fine.
We can able to post direct invoices without getting any errors. The above error triggers only in the scenarios of " parked document posting".
    Kindly suggest....
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mar Novalbos
Great, the note was helped a lot...
    The issue has been resolved.
Thanks for your kind support as usual....

  • Continous mDNSPlatformTCPConnect ("Permission denied") errors. What does this mean? What should I do to resolve this?

    MB Air (1.8GHz); MacOS 10.9.2
In the System Log I see frequent and, at times, continuous (up to several per second) entries like the following:
    4/16/14 9:00:13.936 AM mDNSResponder[73]: ERROR: mDNSPlatformTCPConnect - connect failed: socket 63: Error 13 (Permission denied) length 16
While I can't point to any specific system issues that result from this, I do have the following (perhaps related, perhaps unrelated) problems:
    1. Over time, memory pressure gradually increases until, every few days, I need to re-boot. I'm not accustomed to having to perform "maintenance boots" under MacOS. (For example, my Mac Mini, also running Mavericks, runs for weeks/months without needing to re-boot; it's my household media server, running iTunes but that's about it.) Feels like a memory leak to me.
    2. TimeMachine is unpredictable for me. When I have TimeMachine enabled, it will do incremental backups for up to a day or so, then the machine ends up in what looks like a run loop, with apps (such as Mail) in a "not responding" state. Can't reliably force-quit those apps at that time - pretty much have to hard-boot the machine and restart. (Note that I'm using a QNAP NAS disk array; has worked fine in the past, pre Mavericks; I'm running latest/greatest NAS firmware.)
At any rate, any insights regarding the DNS error (what it means; what triggers it; whether I should care; if so, what I should do to quell it; etc.) deeply appreciated.

May I ask why you want me to remove the AV software?
Because it's the likely cause of your problem, and even if it isn't, it's worse than useless.
    1. This is a comment on what you should and should not do to protect yourself from malicious software ("malware") that circulates on the Internet. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to your computer, or who has been able to log in to it remotely. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user. Internally Apple calls it "XProtect."
The malware recognition database used by XProtect is automatically updated; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
The following caveats apply to XProtect:
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
       3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
Apple has so far failed to revoke the codesigning certificates of some known abusers, thereby diluting the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. These failures don't involve App Store products, however.
For the reasons given, App Store products, and—to a lesser extent—other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. Sandbox security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they are not, and never will be, complete protection. The best defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "Trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and the scam artists. If you're smarter than they think you are, you'll win. That means, in practice, that you always stay within a safe harbor of computing practices. How do you know when you're leaving the safe harbor? Below are some warning signs of danger.
    Software from an untrustworthy source
Software of any kind is distributed via BitTorrent. or Usenet, or on a website that also distributes pirated music or movies.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, doesn't come directly from the developer’s website. Do not trust an alert from any website to update Flash, your browser, or anything else.
Rogue websites such as Softonic and CNET Download distribute free applications that have been packaged in a superfluous "installer."
The software is advertised by means of spam or intrusive web ads. Any ad, on any site, that includes a direct link to a download should be ignored.
Software that is plainly illegal or does something illegal
High-priced commercial software such as Photoshop is "cracked" or "free."
An application helps you to infringe copyright, for instance by circumventing the copy protection on commercial software, or saving streamed media for reuse without permission.
Conditional or unsolicited offers from strangers
A telephone caller or a web page tells you that you have a “virus” and offers to help you remove it. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
A web site offers free content such as video or music, but to use it you must install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "downloader," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one.
You win a prize in a contest you never entered.
Someone on a message board such as this one is eager to help you, but only if you download an application of his choosing.
A "FREE WI-FI !!!" network advertises itself in a public place such as an airport, but is not provided by the management.
Anything online that you would expect to pay for is "free."
    Unexpected events
You open what you think is a document and get an alert that it's "an application downloaded from the Internet." Click Cancel and delete the file. Even if you don't get the alert, you should still delete any file that isn't what you expected it to be.
An application does something you don't expect, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
Software is attached to email that you didn't request, even if it comes (or seems to come) from someone you trust.
I don't say that leaving the safe harbor just once will necessarily result in disaster, but making a habit of it will weaken your defenses against malware attack. Any of the above scenarios should, at the very least, make you uncomfortable.
       6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it—not JavaScript—in your browsers.
Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
Stay within the safe harbor, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself.
    7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free security apps in the Mac App Store—nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. Research has shown that most successful attacks are "zero-day"—that is, previously unknown. Recognition-based malware scanners do not defend against such attacks.
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
Most importantly, a false sense of security makes you more vulnerable.
    8. An anti-malware product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," has the same drawback as the commercial suites of being always out of date, but it does not inject code into the operating system. That doesn't mean it's entirely harmless. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
An anti-virus app is not needed, and cannot be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware, and even for that use it's not really effective, because new Windows malware is emerging much faster than OS X malware. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize by the file name alone. An actual example:
London Terror Moovie.avi [124 spaces] Checked By Norton Antivirus.exe
You don't need any software to tell you that's a Windows trojan. Software may be able to tell you which trojan it is, but who cares? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use recognition software unless an institutional policy requires it. Windows malware is so widespread that you should assume it's in every unknown email attachment until proven otherwise. Nevertheless, ClamXav or a similar product from the App Store may be useful if an ill-informed network administrator says you must run some kind of "anti-virus" application.
The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have all the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer may be infected every time you install software, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you assume that you will always be safe from exploitation, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. "Hmmmm, this torrent is a crack of that new game I want. I think I'll download it. It could be a trojan, but the antivirus will warn me if it is." Then they wonder why their Mac is so slow all of a sudden. It's slow because it's running flat out mining Bitcoins for a hacker who has already sold their credit card number and banking passwords to a criminal gang. Maybe a week later the antivirus does warn them, but what good does that do?
Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • IChat doesn't open--period. Bus error?

I just received my new iMac (Intel Core Duo, woohoo!) on Saturday, and the very first time I tried to open iChat was about an hour ago. All I got was a couple bounces, and then.. failure. Rebooting doesn't make any difference. I tried opening it in Terminal using this method:
    /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7
The error log in Terminal said "Bus error" and nothing else. Can someone explain what this means, and how I can fix it?
Brand new iMac!   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Turns out iChat isn't the only one I'm having trouble with. Other programs that won't open: Mail, Address Book, any Big Bang games.. all with the same bus error thing. I did open Big Bang Checkers once (before trying iChat), but as soon as my friend connected to my game, the game crashed--haven't been able to open it since.
